Tesco at 9.30 on a Thursday morning is usually half full but this morning it was eerily quiet, as if there was something wrong with the store that we didn't know about. All seemed well though. Wonder if things really beginning to bite as traffic in town light as well. For goodness sake there was only 1 car in McDs drive through!😱

After having a coffee break at home I decided to wash the caravan roof. I'd run out excuses.😠. The rest will have to wait as I had a very long telephone conversation with my brother in France. Nice to hear him laughing again if only at his forgetfulness. The wind got up a bit so no more ladder work.

Bloods tomorrow, jabs Saturday, dentist Monday, doctors Wednesday. What would I do without health appointments eh?😂

    Be "Billy-no-mates".

    Hope everyone safe and well.

Just had a look through recent posts and Nth gosh you were close to where we used to live 2 villages away at a village called Chilton Polden it does have a nice small church and there is a large building on the top of the Poldens next to A39 called the priory not open to the public but has got some lovely views from it used to know the next door neighbours to it.

RK, we will hopefully have a walk along to C.P. over the weekend, weather permitting, so will have a look into the church. Hope you enjoy your trip away.

As brue wrote it was a very misty morning making it impossible to see 100 yds across the fields, and it was registering 85% humidity when we go up. It finally cleared around 11:00, and we had a walk from the CP on Walton Hill along to the oldest YHA hostel in the country, a Swiss cottage style building. A quick visit to Glastonbury before replenishing stocks at Aldi. I had a further walk around the village before dinner this evening.

WN, I thought we had lots of appointments when we get home but your list puts ours to shame. Hope all goes well with them all. Did you manage to get your MIL's injections sorted?

Kjell, sorry to read that Shell Bay isn't up to the standard of spacing you are used to. It always looked a good, but busy site whenever we have walked past.

Hi Nellie. Forgot to mention that Mrs WN also has an appointment at the opticians on Tuesday!🤣 All well this morning, will find out results maybe on Wednesday, depends if the nurse understands them. I'll just ask for a print out. I have a full 3 weeks off before more extraction.

We spoke to a neighbour who lives, like us, with elderly parent(s). His hadn't heard either but he gave us some pointers that he had read about on surgery Facebook. So we rang first thing this morning to the outsourced appointments company who read the riot act, in a polite way, about the surgery incompetence saying that post on Facebook was wrong and shouldn't be there and MiL still has to wait for a letter, great when postal strikes happening. So back to square one. We're supposed to leave it another week before ringing that company again. Whilst down having my blood done I walked into the chemists and asked if MiL could have an urgent flu jab. They fitted her in this morning so that's one box ticked at least.

I'll be writing to our Welsh MP when it all quietens down to try to avoid the same chaos for when next jabs needed, if they are.

Sorted out washing rest of the caravan today but still need to sort out the windows and the insides of the battery box and other boxes that open from outside. Then we'll have to do inside.

Rest of this afternoon taken up with admin, trying to sort out Mrs.WNs pension and some maturing investments.

Nice early on but raining now.

Can't recall who mention the TV programme about Village next to the sea but thanks.

As we hardly watch TV I didn't even know about this, despite it being in Series 3 now. So I've had a couple of iPlayer catch ups with ones I'm interested in. Looked at Parkgate from last week last night as we know it quite well. A couple of things not mentioned included the RSPB have taken over a large swathe of the marsh area and it's free to watch out for the birds. There's a car park area at the northern end of the village. Good dog walking as well.

The other thing we know it for is that Georg Frederic Handel set sail from there to Ireland to give the very first performance of The Messiah in 1742, so there you have it. Another useless piece of information to clog up your brain.laughing

Just  having a quick catch up, sounds like all holidays are  going well, and people are enjoying some lovely days out.  some fab photos too.

Had my appointment yesterday with the surgeon, good news was my lump, all 25mm of it had been removed successfully and there was no cancer found in any of the lymph nodes she removed. The oncologist had asked for yet another test which is specifically for my cancer. It's means yet another 2 week wait for the results, and it may mean  that I will need some Chemotherapy, and or radiotherapy. It feels like  I have spent the last 3 months just waiting for results 🥺

Going to check the caravan tomorrow, perhaps we'll get a weekend away before I have any further treatment. 🤔

Nellie hope you like Langlands Farm, the views are lovely. Is the King William pub open? We spent a few evenings in there chatting to the landlords who were due to leave in the Autumn.

We enjoyed watching the villages by the sea programmes, I think I have a couple to catch up on, which I missed.

Hope all home or away enjoy the weekend. 🙂

May I echo WN with my good wishes Helen but don'y fret over-much about 'waiting for results' !!  As an old 'time served diabetic'  I am well used to getting phone calls and or texts and or E-mails about my 'next' appointment in a never-ending line. Still if nothing else it tells me that somebody at the surgery really cares even if she spends her time saying " Just a short Scratch now  "

I have started squeaking and whimpering as I walk into the consulting rooms when I'm called ~~ even the youngsters have been known to grin at that  !!

oo oo ow and such-like  winkinnocent

Helen Not been down to the pub yet, but it looks open. Will check on my walk out in a few minutes time.

A wet miserable morning with steady drizzle until midday. Just a walk around the village before lunch. Sent down to Shapwick nature reserve this afternoon after it had stopped raining and the sun came out and had a decent walk around to the bird hides.

That’s some good news Helen, hope things stay positive. Chemo is far from pleasant, but we managed to get away local for a few days when my OH was having it, all depends on how it’s given of course. It’s a long haul indeed at times, but a few days away will hopefully recharge your batteries. You have our best wishes.

Helenand Trevor I can only echo posts by others. I'm thinking of you, as takethedogalong has suggested a short spell away, if you're able, will do you the world of good. Especially if someone else will do the routine stuff 😉

Don’t knock it Brue, people are crying out on our local forum for chimney sweep appointments around here and most sweeps are saying they are fully booked until Feb or March. Probably because many are going back to open fires and wood burners for their heating. Best make the most of him and make the worker a cup of tea and maybe even offer him cake🍰

We’re both fully protected now - Flu jabs at our local surgery a couple from weeks ago, and Covid yesterday . But we had to travel about 30 minutes to the nearest appointment . So we made it a bit of a treat and stopped off at a garden centre for lunch.  It’s a while since we’ve been so I had to ask the whereabouts of the cafe - “through the gift section, then the Christmas section, and turn right”. It wasn’t a brilliant meal and I doubt we’ll go again. We felt we were in the right demographic - all the customers “were of an age”.

Same here - our Son-in-Law is a chimney sweep / stove installer and is absolutely snowed under with work.  We've had a delivery of logs and coal this week.  Coal (smokeless fuel) has doubled in price in the last two years and our usual log supplier was attempting to get twice the price for his logs as he did this time last year.  Needless to say, I went elsewhere and found a supplier who supplied a double load for a lot less than the other was charging for one.  And - the logs are a lot better toosmile.  Some price rises I can understand - but I think there's a lot of 'jumping on the bandwagon' going on.

OH has always had a set of rods for chimney sweeping, same as both our Dads but yes we know everyone is busy regarding chimneys and stoves, our friends have a son who does chimney sweeping professionally. Round here thatched properties have to have certificates issued etc. Our daughter needs to replace her stove and they can't fit in a visit till late December. We're lucky our wood supplies come from our garden at present. Our mistake was keeping an open fire instead of installing a stove but at least we have something. That said the first gov payment towards our gas is arriving (somehow I think we might have all funded this but the system is working...)

Double jabs for both of us early this morning. No reactions but OH has a sore left arm as the jabber hit the bone.

Dentist visit on Monday well timed as she broke a tooth in half last night on a crisp! Being very careful with it. The other half will need taking out so I'll volunteer my slot to enable work to be done unless they can do it in timescale.

    Heavy squally showers this afternoon.

Weather has been mixed today here.  Sunny intervals and some small showers.

Had Covid and Flu jabs a few weeks back.  There does seem to be an increase in the number of folk catching Covid at the moment.... but thank goodness it's relatively mild in comparison to how it once was..

We are finally catching up on the  last of our holidays booked and re-arranged (or, in this case re-rearranged) during the pandemic and various lockdowns. We are walking in the mountains inland from the Costa Blanca where, yesterday, temperatures touched 30°! surprised

We are based in Calpe which is very touristy and dominated by high rise hotels, but even more so by the gigantic rock known as the Penon de Ifach. We have a nice hotel with a lovely view (ignoring the other hotels) of the Sierra Olta mountain and the salt water lake, home to a beautiful colony of flamingos.

Calpe itself is very tourist orientated, with an upmarket marina which wd walked past, hurriedly, today, but out on the mountains we meet virtually no-one other than the bar owners where we start and finish our walks!

Went to check on the caravan  in storage today, all ok. There has been a clear out of caravans, the old van next to ours which hadn't been moved for years has now gone 😮

Spent some time this afternoon attempting to use the new booking system to check out some CL'S, it was certainly " an experience " and an hour of my life I'd like back please!! 😫😫😫 In the end booked a few nights next weekend at one of the CL'S we had to cancel due to my operation, luckily had kept the details 🙂

Our neighbours opposite have finally decided to set a wedding date, so it's a Christmas Wedding 💑 💍.

Having a day out at NT Stowe with son and Grand daughter tomorrow, hoping the sun shines

Not sure if you kept fully up to date Helen but there is talk of not sending out the Site Directory next year automatically but only on request. It would seem to be a vital necessity in view of the current state of the booking system.

I think the weather isn't too bad tomorrow for you. Have a lovely day.

Sounds interesting in Calpe Moulesy, nice pics for armchair travellers just now.

Hope everyone does well with their jabs and avoids Covid. A neighbour has just spent a week with Covid in a cabin on a cruise ship...an expensive way of recuperation!

Definitely open, Helen, and I might just pop down tomorrow evening for a glass of cider before we head up to Melksham on Monday.

Glad to read that things are going we!l with you and hope that you can possibly get out for short while in the caravan.
