We have phoned our surgery twice now asking if they are taking bookings for the Flu jab but as they don't yet have supplies they aren't taking bookings until those supplies arrive.
I note quite a few of you have had Flu vaccinations at a pharmacy rather than your doctors. So a question, do you pay of is the same rule applied that those over sixty get it free?
Thanks
David

Sorry David I cannot help you there, I'm booked in with Senior Sister at the Surgery this Friday morning for flu' jab just leaving Retinopathy eye check for Tuesday then in early December I will go to see Lady Dracula for my six-monthly Bloody testing

Truly it seems to be a bit of a shambles in general with different rules applying depending where you are at any given time !

Mixed weather today, dry to start so we set off for a walk around Holt Heath, but the misty rain came in and we got rather wet so cut the walk a bit shorter than intended and headed back to the van for lunch. Around 1:30 it stopped raining and we did a circular walk from the site. This evening the sun even came out and the sky is now clear!😀

I know I shouldn’t curtain twitch, but there might be an interesting dilemma here later. It’s currently very windy, with afternoon rain forecast. Our neighbours obviously don’t do any food prep inside their MH, it’s all done on two of those little gas canister camping stoves on tables outside. So, no canopy because of strong winds, too wet and windy to use stoves, it won’t be pleasant in this wind on rain to head out at least four miles on a little scooter…..🤔
Last nights meal was eaten stood up, outside, glancing at a tiny TV positioned in MH doorway. I tried “hello”, but no eye contact was forthcoming and I strongly suspect our pooch (tied up) is viewed as some sort of travelling pet incubus…….
That made me laugh; we're currently in France and last week a small campervan was on the next pitch for just 1 night. It had an awning but presumably for the 1 night not worth winding out. They too did everything outside; during the day the weather has been quite nice, warm at times, at other times not as warm, but evenings and mornings are definitely getting chilly. They cooked outside in the evening, and the meal was eaten outside, the same as your neighbours, with coats on and hoods up. It's interesting, all this people watching

Gosh it's been a very blowy day, with heavy showers from lunchtime! Did the full loop for a dog walk this morning, first time since the ankle injury - I knew it by the end of 4 miles, in the dry and I can vouch the rooks were having a ball in the breeze.
It was lovely to meet the Wherenext's this morning, delicious cuppa and cake and a lovely chat, the hours zipped past. Mrs Wherenext is a very talented artist.
Best wishes Helen hopefully you can make some plans before long. One thing's for certain work is relentless, but great you've tidied up a bit.
DavidKlyne we had our flu jabs in the village chemist, free of charge, they were almost doing on the spot ones as they were quiet - booked ours last week. Both over 65 🤐. Chemist chain doing Covid boosters in nearby village. We had ours last week in the city. So far no reactions to either 🤞
Lovely to read others news and see photos. MIGHT be able to post before and after of our climbing hydrangea but not holding my breath. Tradesman are like herding cats at the moment......
Not to be outdone, here's our Virginia creeper. It might have heard me say it's coming down to ground level when it's performed this year on its 2 previous trims since we moved in 😉. Sadly it's beauty is hidden by our 2 prolific fruit trees for passers by and not visible from any of our windows. Doesn't detract from its beauty.

David, we're currently in France and our surgery's flu jab offerings end the day we come home. So we've booked into our local pharmacy, Lloyds in our case, all done on line. You have to start by choosing whether the jab is for over 65's, which it is in our case, so it then says that you are eligible and you then get offered dates/times, from which you pick what suits. Very easy; nothing to pay, flu jabs are free for all over 65s, wherever you get it, and also this year for over 50s from the 15th of October if I'm not mistaken.

David we have had our flu vaccination at Boots for the last couple of years. It’s free if you qualify (age) and there is a full list of appropriate questions asked beforehand. We just made the appointment, on line, at a local Boots. The record of the jab will appear on your health record through your NHS number. Our Doctor has said they ‘will be in touch’ but we’ve heard nothing.

Just to add to the flu jab thingy, you can look on line via the NHS for pharmacies offering NHS flu jabs. Our local one operates with the medical centre next door so they know which one has supplies in etc. It's all connected to the NHS. Hope you find somewhere David.

We have appointments for our flu jabs at the Dr surgery on Saturday, but we did have to book six weeks in advance. I spoke to the nurse at the surgery and she said that she did 300 jabs there last Saturday! And she wasn’t the only nurse doing them. I wonder why some surgeries can’t get the vaccine DavidK.
Helen I hope that your appointment goes well on Thursday, and that you are soon out and about on tours again.

Thanks everyone for the Flu Vaccine advice. We are away next week so will probably try again when we come back. From memory our surgery often doesn't have the vaccine until sometime into October but with all the dire warning about Flu this winter we thought we should be on the case!

As owners of a small MH, and in the past, a small caravan, we still tend to “camp” outside when we can, but our MH and its facilities do get used regularly. Neither the bathroom or the cooker showed any signs of being used when we bought it, but we do know it spent a lot of time over in Spain. We use both almost every day.
Everything back in very large, very new MH last night for our neighbours. I think they were eating a salad inside. They were up at 7am wiping and storing stuff, gone by 9am.
Just booked our next two nights, nice looking CL near Thetford. Just our final stop to find now, probably opt for a pub stopover. Bike ride today hopefully🤞

returned last week after having had a lovely month in the caravan at a site near Tavistock, weather not brilliant, but we did not get wet, a bit dissapointed that i never made it into the sea pool at Bude, but dont have a wet suite and weather was a tad cool and blowy when we were there.
On our return we both walked into the pharmacy in the village who were doing a walk in clinic for flu vac's, appointments only for covid, both had flu jab, FOC, had already booked covid jab at different pharmacy a short distance away from home, which was next day, so in the space of 24 hours had flu and covid vaccines, different arms, so both were tender for 24 hrs but no big shakes, we are both over 70, but i believe jabs are free for all once you are in the category where the vaccine is being offered.
Off to Spain 20th October for 3 months, Portsmouth - Caen out, Santander - Portsmouth return.
Good to see so many folk out and about in their rv's, weather been glorious this week, nearly took the caravan up to Rooksbury Park (30 mins away from home) just to say we had been away in the sunshine, but was detered by the now "new" booking system, say no more.......reverted to just having morning coffe in the van and reading the newspaper.
enjoy whatever it is you are doing

Both of us woke up this morning and decided to start heading for home so we packed up. During our jobs the owner came across and when we told him we were leaving a day earlier refunded a nights stay. We would have been quite happy to forfeit the pitch fee but it was a nice unbidden gesture. We thanked him by giving him some advice about places to visit when he comes to the Chester area in a fortnight time in his caravan.
We had an easy journey to Stafford to a little independent site we used in the summer to break the journey. Can't do long journeys these days without it having some repercussion. A tad breezy but nothing untoward. Quite a few Motorhomes heading south with cars in tow.
Had an easy afternoon after getting some diesel at Asda watching the antics of the Pygmy Goats, Donkeys and other animals here on the farm. Can't be any avian flu about here as the chickens and Guinea Fowl are free to wander.
Bakers, Mrs WN did recommend an eye test for you very soon but she'll take the compliment. Never refuse a compliment is her motto.

Sorry the Peterborough weather didnt behave itself for you WN. It is quite good occasionally - honestly 😏. What a nice gesture from the owner of the CL. Safe journey home. Have you warned MIL that you will be home a day early?!
We have had a lovely afternoon. A friend who has been in hibernation since the start of the pandemic and who I very much missed has decided to be brave and invite a few people round in ones and twos. So OH and I were asked over this afternoon for tea and cake with her and her OH. It was such a pleasure to see them again.

It's been a lovely sunny day today, warm too.
Went to our local pub for lunch with some friends today, made a nice change as not been out much lately.
We are still waiting to hear from our surgery re flu and covid jabs, they were starting in October.
Nellie, hope you enjoy Langlands Farm, plenty of lovely walks in the area.
Wherenext safe onward trip home.

Safe trip home, WN, pity the weather didn't hold up till the weekend for you. Very good of the site owner to give you the refund.
Sounds as if you have found some fine CLs, tda, will look out for your reviews.
Great colour in your Virginia Creeper, Bakers. Good to read that you were able to manage a 4 ml walk.
It has been fine and sunny here, although not quite as warm as yesterday afternoon. We had a pleasant walk through some of Moors Valley CP, calling in at the visitors centre and then to the Lookout and the Tree Top Trail. Forestry England have added lots of new constructions for (mainly) children, and we think overall the best that we have seen. The Go Ape there was always of the highest quality and there's another similar adventure apparatus, Nets Adventure, for both children and adults. There are waymarked trails for both walkers and cyclists, including a Bike Park for the more experienced.
Last night here for us before we head further west.

It wasn't the weather that drove us homewards Millie but other factors. We have been quite lucky weather wise for this trip. Our raincoats have only been on once and that was to provide an extra layer of warmth.
Looking at the forecast for home tomorrow it looks like we'll definitely need them then.
Haven't told MiL yet. Didn't want her getting too excited.😀 Anyway I believe she's out gallivanting somewhere in the morning.

Thank you TDA & INAD, for the comments on folks cooking and eating outdoors
!!It most certainly reminded me of those years when I was a happy Tent Camper using various varieties of ridge tent from single to three bed ( four if you were really SLIM !! )
Oh the days of getting rain in your gravy or even a couple of leaves on your rice pud

Good to read news. Safe travels Wherenext and others on the move.
Helen hope appointment went well, glad you managed lunch out.
Typing through gritted teeth. Bad judge of character on gardener front 🤬😡 but that's water under the bridge now. Clue in the photo below..anyone up for removing it? 😂. Back to the drawing board for itsremoval and finding a new hard landscaper. Oh wellonwards and upwards. More leaves to sweep from front door....
Beautiful sunrise, but rather red.
Enjoy your day folks

Sorry to hear about gardener issues Bakers2 and hope you can find another one to help out, shame we live in France as if we had being close to you we would have come over and got most of it sorted.
Our trailer is packed with old Juniper tree branches and friends are coming over late morning with their trailer to fill some more of the branches then I am doing lunch then off to skip as they only open at 2-6pm today, possibly we will not clear it all today so will have to wait until we come back from our short break next week.
A cloudier day yesterday but at least cool enough to do the clearing of garden rubbish and today looks good and could be upto 25C. Glad folks are enjoying their breaks away and good photos.
Have a good weekend folks and stay safe we have noticed more folk are wearing masks again here we have been wearing them all the time for shopping and cases are on the rise here.

Just read ABMs post on camping in tents. We, like many others started out in a tent, large one at first as the kids came with us. Once they had left home we scaled it down. I clearly remember the day we decided to buy a caravan. We arrived on a site in the Cotswolds, (now a housing estate) in the pouring rain. Sat in the car waiting for it to ease up so that we could set up, and a caravan pulled in. Before we could get the tent up they were relaxing with a cup of tea - decision made. Our first caravan was a little Avondale that we shared with my Mum and Dad.
Our last caravan was the best, a lovely Bailey Cadiz. OH had tests and was waiting to go into hospital for a big operation as he has more than one aneurysm, lifting anything became such a worry, and it became obvious that towing, setting up, etc couldn’t go on. So we sold our lovely van and bought the static, Which we still enjoy and love. But ABMs post made we think about how our hobby and holidays caravanning evolves for us and others.

We still regard touring as posh camping😁 The beds more comfy, the cooker is more sophisticated, we have an onboard loo and shower and we stay drier in the rain, but it’s still all about things like eating outdoors, sharing space with wildlife and nature. Probably why we find most Club Sites so sterile and boring, we’d rather be somewhere less regimented and manicured. Currently in someone’s very nice garden, surrounded by flowers, trees, birds etc…..

Left home in torrential rain but I fell asleep somewhere and woke up in glorious sunshine. Is there anything better than having a beautiful driver and waking up like that. Melrose again, site looks very full and only a few spaces. Lovely yellow German MH on site.

Got an op booked next Tuesday to have my gallbladder whipped out, so avoiding all human contact to reduce the chance of catching anything that might cancel it.
Currently reliving my youth watching Glam Rock at the BBC, and getting through my Gin collection. Sir Robin of Locksley Artisan Gin is tonights tipple, with tones of pink grapefruit

After my earlier post we had heavy rain but then a lovely evening and a great walk.
Sitting here with a glass of wine and we could hear a child crying so naturally we went to have a look just in case they were lost or something. There was a little girl with her mother who said to her 'do you want your birthday cancelled?'
If you're reading this we've all been there.

Hope all goes well TimboC.

Funnily enough that's exactly what Mrs WN said to me today after driving home.😀
Good luck TimboC. MrsWN had hers done 35 years ago by the old fashioned way of cutting you open. You may notice that you can't handle too much dairy produce or anything with a bit too much fat in in the future. She still likes her cheese but sparingly (heartbreakingly for her) and rarely eats things like yoghurt now.
Easy drive home and yes we did arrive in heavy rain. Left the unit hitched up until the rain eased a bit. Only essentials decamped. The rest will be done tomorrow.
Hope your journey relatively straightforward Nellie.

OOO, I am a good boy today
Went to surgery this morning for my Flu' jabbing and got a very gentle [!!] Senior Diabetes Sister
who checked on the records and said I am due for an annual [?] Thyroid test. Fortunately I was quite chirpy and wide awake enough to point out that my diabetes bloods are due in December ( if I book 'em in time ) so she checked and said " Oh yes, we've added them all together so you'll only lose five fingers of blood won't you
" Must have been pleased 'cos I never felt the flu' jab but now I'm wondering if she actually jabbed me at all, thinking a pat on his head is quite sufficient !Still I've only got Retinopathy eye test on Tuesday, so no driving then for a good six hours and a couple of months further without being checked, jabbed, blooded or lectured
.Hope all our Patients are as well treated and fortunate as I was today

P.S. / Edit :~~ on the strength of that I must take care to check my Lottery Tickets this weekend ~~ Well you never know .........
