We have had our flu and covid jabs at our GP surgery this morning. It was all extremely well organised. Somebody in the car park to help us park - although it wasn't needed as there were plenty of spaces - in the front door, queue along the corridor where all the surgery rooms were open with nurses and doctors giving jabs and out the back door straight back to the car park. We were in and out in 10 minutes. All the doors and windows were open.We saw some friends that we hadn't seen since before covid but didn't have time to chat just a quick wave!

After diabolical weather all yesterday afternoon and night it is now a nice bright and sunny but rather chilly day.

It was horrible here yesterday, too, Millie.  Carol went for her Covid jab and they did flu at the same time... mine was the week before.  Went to a pharmaceutical place on a local industrial estate.... very efficient.

Did you visit Craster Kj? It was nice to see one of the BBC Coastal Village programmes about Craster last night. I like Craster kippers but on our last visit the smokery was closed, it was late afternoon so I found some kippers in a local shop...I don't cook kippers just warm them up in boiling water to avoid that kipper odour! wink Enjoy Hexham, we previously had a good holiday there and seeing the famous night staircase in the Abbey.

OH had this card for his birthday....laughing

Another good jab done Millie! More for us next week.

Like the card, my birthday is now a similar fire hazard!

We did visit Craster, on Thursday, on our way to Alnwick, nice little harbour and several places to eat.

Today we went to Embleton Bay for a walk and a distant view of  Dunstanburgh Castle, then on to Beadnall Bay where we ate our lunch sandwiches, so a good end to this part of the trip.

Had a walk around a very quiet Cley reserve, both for visitors and birds, but it didn't really matter as we were joined by Mr & Mrs Oneputt. Really enjoyed the chat. A good few years (3 I think) since we last had the privilege.

It was quite breezy but at least it was a warm one.

    Like the card Brue.

We had ours this morning as well. Similar to you Millie, in, jab 1 for flu, move along, jab 2 for COVID, thank you and goodbye, all done in less than 10 minutes. Thankfully no after effects (other than seeing 7.30am for first time in weeks🤣). We are good to go👍

The Holkham Beach walk is one of our favourites WN, love the Pinewoods and the sand dunes. Did you know that beach was used in Shakespeare In Love, the final scene, looking like the Caribbean😁

Lots of nice places recalled from the posts of others as well👍

Like the card brue, mine were more picturesque, one a painting of a Cornish Tin Mine and another of Lakeland fells.

Today has been fine again, so OH managed to get the week's washing done and dry, but it has just started to rain, and the forecast is not good for our move tomorrow. Had a circular walk from the site this morning, and I went on another this afternoon after getting things prepared for the tow in the morning.

A much better day with blue skys, not a cloud to be seen any direction.  Lovely to meet-up and catch up with Mr & Mrs Wherenext again.  After leaving them we went for a walk around Sheringham Park, surprisingly there were still a few Rhododendrons in bloom.

Spent last night listening to the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, not condusive to sleep as the music was very powerful! They're playing in Coventry today, well worth seeing, brilliant playing.🎺🎷🎶

Years since have seen them live Brue. There used to be a huge Miner’s Gala every year in our town, parade of different colliery bands, all proudly led out with their banners, they would head up to our big park, converge on the bandstand, and then the Battle of the Bands would commence. Some of the musicians were exceptional. They have become history in themselves now. Some places round us, including Brodsworth Hall still host regular Brass Band concerts on Summer Sunday Afternoons, they are very popular.😁

What a lovely evening brue. We, especially OH, love a brass band. We saw Grimethorpe some years ago at Selby Abbey when our youngest son and DIL lived near there. A wonderful setting for them. Since then we have seen them in Kings Lynn and also Peterborough with the Peterborough Male Voice Choir but not for sometime. It is time they paid a repeat visit!

Another fan of the Brass Bands. When we got married we moved into a flat around the corner from Besses o 'th' Barn Brass Band practice hall and there is a train station named Besses o' th' Barn on the train route into Manchester from Bury, our local, at the time, station.

We managed to solve the identity of the curly topped and horned sheep that I posted a photo of the other day on here. The 3 Ewes have been put in a lambing shed and 2 new ones arrived this morning. They're waiting on the third but we caught up with the owners. They are Swiss Vallais Blacknose Sheep. Described by some, apparently, as the cutest sheep in the world. You learn something everyday.

A lovely autumn day today, plenty of sunshine, a nip in the breeze first thing but warmer later. We took a stroll along the coastal path from Wells for a few hours before returning by the same route to pick up some crabs for sandwich back at the caravan for lunch. Off tomorrow but an enjoyable stay once again in North Norfolk.

We are away😁 On a Britstop tonight, in deepest Suffolk. Got the place to ourselves, pretty ex pub, now a bike shop and cafe. Quiet, secluded and safe, so it’s up early tomorrow, treat ourselves to a breakfast and a good look around the cycle shop, then into Bury St Edmunds to look at churches, before heading on to stop number two, which is a Churchyard CL. Hope we are on our own there as well🤞

Received another beautiful card last night, of the Bow Bridge by Egglestone Abbey, near Barnard Castle. Thanks.

We had rain all through the night which only stopped around 9:30 this morning, thankfully, so we were able to pack up in the dry. The journey didn't quite go to plan, what with road works and diversions, but all safely set up on another, new to us, CL near Verwood. The sun came out and it was rather warm and very pleasant too. Had a nice circular walk from the site.

Have a good trip, tda, and I will be interested in the CLs you use.

Saw these sheep at a show this summer, minus the horns. Lovely creatures, fairly new to this country but proving very popular, also very expensive, according to their owner. I also love the Herdwicks, such beautiful faces. And the Cotswold Lions, especially when farmers leave their little ‘top knots’ on.   ABM, as a youngster, each year my cousins and I were given charge of the orphan lambs that were kept in the stable and we bottle fed them several times a day, ever since I have never been able to eat lamb.

Ive come to realise my morning routine is - tea, toast, catch up with what everyone has been up to on here and the New York Times Wordle. Love retirement, no dashing out and sitting in traffic jams anymore.

Well it was a Waitrose delivery early this morning then OH takes the EV in today for a service and MOT..with insurances coming out it's an expensive week. Always interested in what others spend I found the receipt for someone else's order amongst our delivery. This has happened before, I get a quick snapshot of what local cats are eating, favoured types of butter, ready meals, booze, wine gums and grated cheddar...I don't feel so bad about our very mixed produce intake and the costs! I also know the recipients are going to be just as disappointed with the missing items and substitutions...anyway no French butter for Mrs X...she should have bought local. wink

(Also a reason why I don't ask for paper receipts.)

Had a stroke of luck, this morning - if you can call it that.  Went to our local pharmacy for my flu jab - they were having a walk-in session together with pre-arranged appointments for covid jabs.  I had previously mentioned that I was having difficulty getting a covid jab appointment since they are booked up for the next 4 to 5 weeks.  Whilst I was waiting in the queue, the nice lady who organises the jab sessions, called me out of the queue and asked if I would like my covid jab as well, since they had just had a cancellation. Of course, I accepted - so now I'm 'double-jabbed' and feeling a bit pleased that I went.

Ha ha Brue, morning shopping nosiness. I have to admit to sometimes standing at the checkout waiting and having a quick peek at the person behind or in fronts shopping on the conveyor, I do a quick comparison on whether my shopping is as healthy as theirs. Often the shoppers who look like they might be the most hard up have the very best and most expensive produce at the checkout. I’ll keep your nosy secret if you keep mine.

    Brue

No President slightly salted butter in MK Waitrose last week either! It is quite worrying the amount of empty shelves these days in Waitrose. After going to B&Q today we called into an Aldi, spent £16 which included a Stollen Cake. Whilst the non food has some very interesting bits it in such a mess you can't easily find anything. Can't see it becoming a regular haunt!

I think similar items are missing from a variety of shops DK. I'm sticking to deliveries for as long as I can but I believe there are problems down the line due to lack of drivers, costs etc. We're too far from an Aldi to make it worth a visit although our nearest Lidl and Waitrose are next door to each other. What I really miss are the reduced items but that's the compromise.

Hope the holidays are going well for those away. Nice weather today, managed to do some gardening relieved by news that recent blood tests were ok maybe the BP will go down now, doing daily readings but am getting a bit averse to the monitor which doesn't help!

Trying to get things done before the next weather system comes in, think it sounds better in the eastern areas?

Apparently ABM they are kept for their wool and the meat so doubly useful. I believe they taste a bit "lambish".  You will all be thrilled to butterkins that the 3rd. ewe had twins. We left the site this morning and there were 4 of the little blighters knocking about and I don't think the Tupper had any!

Had an easy drive down to a new to us CL near Peterborough. Set up and off for food shopping. Back home for a rest and a shower. Lovely sunset developing.

Enjoy your trip Ttda. How long are you away for?

I also did some gardening today got two new plants and bulbs into 2 large pots 1 Trachycarpus and a mix of Daffodils and Reticula Iris  in each pot so should look good next Spring.

brue OH did his BP readings last week even had a full yearly blood tests done went to the surgery Thursday  only to find they were expecting him the week before heyho their problem not OH's as he was unable to go for the earlier date so now got another appointment  19th of this month so a trip to Phamacie to update medication which they are allowed to do without visiting the doctor thankfully.

More gardening tomorrow and clear Iris bed of weeds now ground not so hard and a few violas to plant just getting chores done before we go away next week and friends popping in to see us late in the afternoon before they go back to UK  so a quiet few months whilst they are away. Much warmer here today 23.3C and warmer again tomorrow a late burst of heat before normal Autumnal weather next week.

Now on the 3rd site of the trip, a newish CL a bit north of Hexham, arrived yesterday.

Stopped en route in the sunshine on the A69 to eat lunch as arrival time is 2pm.  A huge MH, Swift Kontiki, pulled in to the road to the site just ahead of us, and there were 2 caravans already on site, but as there are 7 hardstandings, we still had a good choice of pitch.

The MH moved on this morning, and when we got back this afternoon there was a new caravan arrival.

Today we have visited Housesteads Roman fort, fortunately it remained dry while we were there.  NT/EH site, but still £4 to park as Northumberland National Park seem to operate the car park.  Weather turned chilly, so afterwards we blew the budget and had coffee and sandwiches in the very pleasant cafe.

Some rain on our way back, we took the long way round via Haltwhistle and into Hexham as we needed milk and other bits and pieces.  Good mix of supermarkets, huge Tesco, with newish large Aldi one side and very new large Lidl the other side, and Waitrose on the other side of the road. Also M&S somewhere, but we did not see it.

Plan to return to Hexham another day to explore the town, weather permitting, the forecast is not too great.

Well, KjellNN, with those S/markets soooo very close to each other you can get your required "Number of Steps " in without getting too wet  smile !!  Just remember to keep the lock on the wallet !

NtH,  I'm not in the habit of comparing shops too much { I might spend money  money-mouth } but some of my friends tell me that the newer ALDI stores are laid out in the same way as each other.

Nellie hope you enjoy the Verwood area, have you been there previously? If you get the chance try the old hillfort route out to Hengistbury Head (if you can battle round Bournemouth?!) Hope the New Forest is looking good, nice time of the year to visit. smile

Hoping to get out today before the rain arrives tomorrow, coast or country decision? 🍁🌿

Home next Monday, but what route we are unsure at the moment. Won’t be back via A14, what a horrible route that is. OH is hankering after Thetford and Dads Army Museums.

Nice night on our church CL, free fruit and veg from harvest festival, had a good old chin wag with another couple doing same as us, in reverse, so they are off to the bike cafe stopover with their camper. Caravan just rolled into here this morning, so it’s a surprisingly busy little basic CL. We move up a few miles to Iken today, three nights there, get some cycling in now. Weather being very kind.

    Have good trips everyone😁👍

All very interesting here……Another MH rolled in after us, and now an hour and a half later, they are still setting up some sort of semi permanent base camp. Never seen so much stuff come out of a MH before, having parked up and set out awning, windbreaks, four tables, two gas powered camping stoves, (no chairs yet) they have now realised the garage to get the scooter out is blocked by hook up bollard at one side of garage, and a tree stump the other. The wind is also picking up speed, so I give the awning about another hour. It’s also very nose down………….

Edit…..nope awning has just gone in, too windy.
