Good news for Margaret David and hopes all goes well and have shown your post to OH who is type 2 diabetes and wonders whether they will do that here.
Well more rain overnight and now raining again and not shown on forecasts still the ground needs it and the field in some areas is showing green patches, whilst outside before the rain came and doing the shutters as it is windy I found one of my Salvia plants with some broken branches so will have to take cuttings ff them later now in a flower vase, we did have some very strong winds earlier today so must have caught the plant still they are easy to root as I have done them before by just stick the piece into one of the pots outside and all have taken and even flowered this year.

Quite agree with your comment about them being more convenient, David !!
I tried to do a finger-prick test yesterday evening only for the meter to go on strike due to battery failure. Alas my corner shop only has AA cells & similar so I will have to head into the mighty City today and try to mug Currys or similar for a couple of C2032 to replace both of them, but the odds are on them coming only in packets of four (4)
The first time I can remember this happening in all the years I've been doing bloods this way
. How long do these flat disc batteries last I wonder
??Beautiful clear blue sky this morning So off for the mini shopping & battery trip

That happened to Margaret once when we were away so we had to go off and find some batteries. Found them in Boots. She always carries a couple of spares now so your four pack or batteries might be just the ticket!

Good news for your OH, and hopefully others DK.
Thanks to Brue and Oneputt as well re Villages by the Sea, always enjoy theses programmes. Cley area has changed a lot in the 40 years we have known it, so will be an interesting watch to go back further into its history.
Tour coming together, Pub stopover looking good for first night, then found a couple of nice looking CLs for a longer stay, with some Castle visits and cycling. More to come………

Sounds like a good thing for Margaret DK.
We arrived on the Med late morning, just a 90 minute drive down. Site is supposed to be open until end of October but they are closing on Sunday now. The French have a habit of doing that 😠
Lots of sites along the Med are already closed so after here it will Spain.
Was amazed we got TV here, didn't think we would but tried it anyway and yes all freesat channels, full BBC, ITV, C4 etc.
Kj, yes think that's probably what we will have to do.
Redkite it was light rain in Trebes this morning and we passed through a heavy shower on the way. Thankfully dry here, very windy still but a bit warmer, shame its closing early as by weekend the weather is to be much nicer.

Thanks for letting us know where you were TG we were at a site in the village of Villegly and suited our purposes for what we wanted again it closes this Friday as did few others in the area, enjoy your short stay on the Med.
We have had a few blustery showers in the last couple of hours and 10.2mm of rain good for the ground.
Off shopping tomorrow to Villefrance our usual spot.
Had our invitations for the flu jab arrive in the post and available from 18th October so will check in the Phamacie tomorrow after OH has been to doctors, as we went there last year.

Went for our COVID booster jabs today. Thought we had left in plenty of time to get to the Open University which is the vaccination centre. Sods law was that we first encountered traffic lights which we weren't expecting. Then when we got to the OU another road was closed and we had to drive right through the complex which is surprising large, not a flowery tie in sight
Must have got there by the skin of our teeth! Our appointments were for 11.25am and by 11.31 we were back sitting in the car for the enforced 15 minutes so not bad. Just have to wait and see if we get any reaction. David

All change here as "new" neighbours move on (back to where they came from) and most interestingly an old neighbour takes up residence again in their former home. More to come as next adjacent neighbour, only here for a short while, is hoping to move too. Don't think we've done anything wrong but we've had five new neighbours in the last 18 months! I escaped to a local fund raising event but spent half an hour with another new neighbour in adjoining lane wanting to tell me all about their moves....I'm supposed to be doing BP checks twice a day and I suspect it will be raised and I'll be dreaming about removal vans tonight!! I purchased some nice home made cheese scones at the get together, comfort food that isn't moving anywhere but won't last long on a plate.

I wish some of our neighbours would move Brue. Might have to do it ourselves.
Had a lunch date with a couple of friends so decided to spend an hour or so Walking around the gardens and walkways of Felbrigg Hall beforehand as the Pub was only 10 minutes drive away. However on the way there it fair belted down. Double windscreen wipers going, speed reduced to a crawl, roads flooded. Fortunately it had stopped by the time we got there but it meant a shorter visit.
The walled garden looked in very good condition bearing in mind the time of year. Did have some photos to show but wifi doesn't seem to be working on that phone so will hopefully post them tomorrow.
Had a lovely leisurely lunch at the Banningham Crown, Banningham near Aylsham. Recommended, plus they left us at the table for over 4 hours so that we could have a good catch up.

Went on bus this morning to city centre (getting used to negotiating wheel chair into place
) went to COVID vaccine centre and great staff "arranged"for us to have autumn boosters without needing a booking
Have been trying to get mittens for OH as she cannot now get her right hand fingers into gloves anymore , did all the shops without luck until last store where manager went out if her way to get some with a special order from their main warehouseti pick up Sat
good service from Mountain warehouse and made sure we got ccc discount
Both venues restored our faith in human nature ❤️

I love Felbrigg walled garden WN. We shall hopefully visit again when we are in the area in a couple of weeks. I have just read 3 books written by the wife of the House Manager of Felbrigg about 25/30 years ago. A lovely insight into their life and the life of the house. You were unlucky with the weather; we only had a short sharp shower.
We had a good afternoon today as an outing was arranged for some of the Cathedral volunteers to Thorney Abbey and Museum. One of our volunteers is a guide to the abbey and also curator of the museum. She gave us such an interesting, informative and amusing talk about the history of the abbey and also the village. We also had a very nice tea!

I forgot to say that we watched Ben Robinson's programme about Cley earler this evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ben Robinson used to be our local archeologist some years ago but he was too good for us to keep him.

I have just returned from Grantown on Spey allowing me to visit a Star Party in the Dark Skies Park at Tomintoul. Not only that I visited the secret seminary at Chapeltown where the "heather priests " were taught in the past. It was disguised as a farm house and part was used as a farmhouse and mill. Interesting stuff.
The sad news is that my son passed away in may in hospital, in the end it wasn't him he could only wave one hand and squeeze with it. I was with him in the end. It was hard to think that before the op he was doing archery, zip wire, climbing wall.
Yes he had a form of muscular dystrophy but had a full life.
So that's it I'm on my own

Yesterday was a bit of a washout with rain early and lowering skies. We did manage a dry walk around the village before lunch in the van and it cleared up enough for Flyte and I to get a 3.5 ml circular walk, mostly along the canal, in the afternoon. Then Essential Maintenance again last night prevented me from posting!! 😵
Today was much better with sunshine and a cool breeze. We had a walk up onto May Hill and the Wansdye before lunch and then drove into Devises to do some shopping, tried to get our Flu injections but without success at both Boots and Morrisons. Drive back to Bolton Bridge for a walk along another length of the canal, then our picnic and back into Devises to get out Covid booster jabs, which went very well. This time we were given the Spikevax vaccination (which we had never heard of, but turns out to be the Moderna one) and so far we have had no adverse reactions. Fingers crossed we will both be ok tomorrow too.

Sad news indeed. My condolences.

Robsail, such sad news from you, we've followed your family's progress on here and I know you did lots of things together against the odds and your son, as you say had a full life and I think you made the best of things together. Do hope you'll keep going and build new memories. My sincere sympathy to you.
You mentioned some new places visited and it's always good to hear from you!

It's now been a week since my operation, still feeling a bit sore but have managed a couple of short walks. Have been given an appointment in a couple of weeks when they will have the pathology results and give me an update on what other treatment I will need.
Wherenext glad you had a nice meal, the Crown at Banningham sounded familiar then I remembered we stayed at a rather nice CL in the village a few years ago now, and enjoyed a couple of visits to the Crown.
Bit concerned reading about your flu and covid jabs, our surgery are starting in October, I will have to have both jabs in the same arm
due to the operation and will probably end up with 2 sore arms!
0 -
Best wishes for your onward treatment Helen, probably a good thing if you have to wait for your jabs, one arm at a time! I have to stick to one arm after a shoulder problem, so far so good.

All calm here after removals day yesterday seems strange to have our old neighbours and their dog back but quite nice too as we all got on well.
Heavy rain overnight but I think it will be a long time before our reservoirs fill up.
Hope all the travels are going well.
