The internet is full of good ideas? Some you don't know whether to believe or not. Some time ago I saw a suggestion for cleaning the inside of the glass oven door with a dishwasher tablet. For some reason that image has stayed with me. Margaret has been "mentioning" recently that the inside of the oven door needed a clean and should she arrange for the oven cleaner man to come out. Being keen to put the dishwasher tablet to the test I volunteered. Well I am amazed!!! It took no time at all to clean the glass door by just rubbing the damp tablet directly on the glass and Hey Presto a perfectly clean oven door. Now wondering if the same principle could be applied to the rest of the oven, although I might keep that idea to myself!!!

As the person responsible for oven cleaning duties David I tend to use Lakeland products. Mind you, as I'm not that partial to the job I do tend to leave it awhile then have a splurge and clean both top and bottom ovens in a morning. Nice to know about the dishwasher tablets though.

We were woken up by someone opposite us leaving the C.L. before 7 this morning. Didn't mind as we wanted to be at Frampton Marsh reserve early today so arrived just after the first visitors, a small party from Norwich Wensum Bird Group. Goodness knows what time they left. We enjoyed a satisfying walk around the reserve, which is surrounded by Public Footpaths for anyone with dogs but they are excluded from the actual reserve itself.

Back home early afternoon to a quiet CL. No-one else at home. Weather was nice and warm with little wind this morning but its got up now. Still warmish though.

My man is waiting patiently (but sometimes not so patiently) for December - as that is likely to be when he gets his new hip. He had a telephone consultation with his doctor yesterday and now has some extra pills to try to relieve the pain. The pill schedule is now on a spreadsheet taped to the plastic pill storage box.

He comes in for a sit now and then, but the getting back up is difficult .

Son and daughter in law are stopping at our caravan this weekend, after dropping our grandson back to Warwick Uni. Just received a moan from him that it’s raining there Again, said there’s not much we can do about the weather. We are going to Plymouth tomorrow, daughter asked if we could take granddaughters coat to her, as she forgot it. She has just started at Plymouth Uni. We now have a packed car to take to her + the coat! Other granddaughter also started at Liverpool Uni this week. It’s been a week of, ‘ I want to come home! No wait maybe it’s OK. A difficult time for youngsters.

Now settled, in splendid isolation, on the first site of this trip, a CL east of Edinburgh.

We were here in June, on the larger commercial site, and at that time the CL was full and the commercial site less than half full, now the commercial site is pretty full.

We were going to book onto the other site, on a serviced pitch like in June,  but price has increased a good bit since June, so we decided on the CL.

Still costing £20 per night, EHU and hardstand, no other facilities.

Left home about 11.15, traffic very slow around Edinburgh, so arrived at 13.15.  Sunny all the way, but some rain mid afternoon, dry again now.  OH is making dinner.......smells good!

Oven cleaning idea noted as it's me "what does it..." wink

Debsc hope they all settle in well!

Two days of jabs, OH has had the new Covid vaccine and went down hill late last night, so retired early tonight, very glad we've spread things out as I had the flu jab today, all very civilised, no queue and easy parking. Two more jabs and a check up to go....

Glad we had our little break in mid Wales. Good to hear other trips are going well.

Chilly tonight, put the heating on for the first time.

I also will try the recommended oven door cleaning idea. Have tried everything on the glass door in the past but have settled for the past couple of years on using a paint scraper blade, that works really well when it’s wet. But maybe the dishwasher tablet works better.

I used to be involved in Lifeskill scenarios with various schools. Long story but one question way back then to get the kids involved was, ‘who cleans the oven at home’? OH got moaned at by me cos most of the answers were ‘Dad’ We did smile one day when we asked this question at a private school and a couple of kids answered, ‘the maid’. One of these same children truly didn’t know what came out of a hens egg. Different world.

We have our Covid booster booked at Devizes for next Thursday evening, and have been trying to get our flu ones done on the same day, but not managed to get a reply from either Boots or Morrison's yet, so will have to try again in Monday when we get down to Pewsey.

OH wasn't too well yesterday evening, so today we just did a couple of short walks from the CL. Thankfully she is feeling better tonight so we may get a longer walk done tomorrow. It had been sunny again today, although the wind was up and made it feel quite chilly when in the shade.

It's a nice sunny autumnal morning here, OH says he feels  "a bit" better. In the interests of the CT oven cleaning brigade I've checked my kitchen cupboards as I couldn't remember the name last night of the product I use. It's called Astonish! Got it from Robert Dyas and it's good stuff,  not nasty on your eyes and hands. I use a silicone mat from Lakeland to keep the oven floor clean.

End of Sunday Morning Cleaning Service Programme! wink

I was up early after a cat fight developed under our bird feeder, a new kid on the block has shattered the peace and quiet. 🐈🐈‍⬛

Water pistol at the ready Brue🤣

Oven cleaning🤔 We don’t eat meat, so don’t get the spitting fat from roasts, so our oven doesn’t get bad at all. Doors are Aga like as well, no glass, so that’s a bonus as well. It’s those double skinned doors, where something drips down in between that are a pain. We have just bought and used some wonderful paste for thoroughly cleaning our stove door window, come up like new. I am going to try it on the one or two marked tiles under stove, see what happens. But that is a cheap top tip DK, might try it at Mums👍

Mum had her flu jab yesterday, and while there, Doctor said he could do COVID jab as well, see she went for it. First time with other than Pfizer, so hope she stays ok. Our flu jabs are booked for next Saturday at Docs, so we might drop lucky with COVID jab as well🤞

Bit of gardening, then a nice creative evening for me, have some lovely Japanese beads to play with. Start my bike challenge this morning, Prague is the first capital city on my list🤞

    Best wishes to OH Nellie.

We got our flu jabs at Boots in Devices last year and just walked in and asked if they could do it. 15 minute wait.

We have ours booked but MiL still to hear about hers. She's registered at a different surgery to us.

    Off out now.

Thanks for information on the oven bottom liner  at Aldi's Tda will have to go to Villefrance and have a look.

A dull morning here and only 12.3C so a bit chilly now sat with a fleece on not used to that, just done some ironing not my favourite chore but has to be done.

Glad folks getting their covid boosters done we have had our awhile ago now and hopefully the flu jab will be available from 18th October we will get a letter each for that and go to the  local phamacie for that, OH off early tomorrow for full blood test and then Doctors on Thursday for 3 month check.

Have booked a small site near Villeneuve-sur-Lot for 5 nights in a couple of weeks so looking forward to that as somewhere we have not been to, there are a lot of sites about but not open in October, and now looking for somewhere to go and looks like we will be heading down near the Pyrenees for a couple of weeks next June just seeing the outline of them from where we were last week near Carcassonne was impressive so need to get closer to them, possibly UK in September if I can sort the booking system out as one site not showing being open in September so looks like a big refurb going on.

"I've checked my kitchen cupboards as I couldn't remember the name last night of the product I use. It's called Astonish!"

I can also vouch for that stuff, Brue.  In our last house (a barn conversion), we had an Aga installed and it was the one product that Aga recommended for cleaning it.  Brilliant at cleaning burnt-in stains and it doesn't scratch - so perfectly safe to use on enamel surfaces.

Since then, they have branched out and there is now a wide range of "Astonish" cleaning products. I use their leather care on the van's upholstery.

Oh dear brue. I am a bit worried now as we are having our covid and flu jabs at our GP surgery next Saturday. We have always had the Pfizer one before with no reaction at all. I hope we don't get a reaction like your OH. I do hope he feels better soon.

DEBSC I hope all your grandchildren settle well at Uni and enjoy it. It is an exciting and nerve wracking time for the first few weeks but I am sure they will have a wonderful time in the end. I must admit that the ditty that ABM mentioned sprung to my mind as well!!

I hope your OH is fully recovered now nellie.

Millie, I think it’s just individual reactions. Mum had both her jabs together yesterday, only had Pfizer previously, yesterday she was given Moderna. No after effects whatsoever, yesterday or today, still like the Duracell bunny, unstoppable😬

    Good luck with it👍

Hope your OH picks up soon brue👍

Unplanned exciting couple of hours here😱 Phone call from Sis, water coming through ceiling light in kitchen. Up we run, badly leaking shower. Looks like it’s been leaking for a while unnoticed as well. Plan in place to do temporary fix so it’s safe, then second plan to get it fully sorted out. Happy Sunday, that’s our plans for today thwarted☹️

    Millie

We had the 5th vaccination earlier in the year which was a Moderna one and we both had a reaction which lasted about 36 hours. We are both due for our next vaccinations (6th) on Wednesday and as it's also a Moderna one it will be interesting to see if we get the same reaction? We did contact our surgery but they are not doing Flu until October so that will have to wait!

Thanks, WN, tda and millie. She was much better this morning and we had a 3 hour walk from the site, and collected a few free apples on the way round.

WN, I thought that it was at Devises that you got your flu jab last year so we will try Boots for ours on Thursday when we go in for our Covid boosters. Just hope that we  don't have an adverse reaction to it, as so far we have been fine following our Phizer ones. Hope you had a god day out.

Fingers crossed that all goes to plan with your tour of Prague tomorrow, tda.

Last night here and the Tawny Owls are giving us a send off by the sounds of it.😁

Some  shopping today in North Berwick as we have a visitor coming for lunch tomorrow.

Sunny until mid afternoon then very heavy rain,  Windy here most of the time, was the same back in June, so a lot of noise and buffeting.

After a short respite, during which I got the water and waste sorted, the rain resumed and has been on and off all evening.    Hope tomorrow is better!

We love North Berwick and it’s area K. But it’s always at least breezy. More so of course up on the coast. Hope the weather picks up for you. I have a date with Mum’s shower today, temporary repairs, front door of house needs re treating and some weeding to do.

You've certainly had better weather Corners. Better prepare yourself for Autumn when you arrive back because it sure has arrived with a vengeance.

Had a blustery drive over from Boston to Wells in Norfolk today. Easy enough drive except for last 5 miles on uneven back roads of Norfolk. First time on this C.L. My, it is spacious, a bit higher up than normal for Norfolk so quite windy here but quite well protected. Had a walk into Wells itself just to stretch the legs and bought some stuff from Howells Deli at the top of the High Street. A lovely local Medium slightly sparkling Cider has gone down a treat to go with some local cheese.

We've noticed the changes as we've been coming here for decades. long gone are the Book shop and the Art Shop at the top of the street. Also disappeared is the lovely clothes shop near the Quay that MiL adored. They still have favourites like the Greengrocers and French's Chippy as well as new interlopers like the Deli and the Coffee House on the Quay. The old Dutch pancake ship went home in Covid.

Still has one of the best estuaries for views in my mind. Always, but always, lovely to be here.
