Taken this morning at Viareggio in a mini trip in my cousin's MH, the weather's taken a turn (that is according to the locals) as it's down to a rather 'cool' 22C and it was cloudy but the sun has come out for the afternoon so back up to about 25C. However they were acting as if it was cold with everyone putting on a top! Needless to say I'm still in shorts and summer mode.

This was yesterday afternoon and the same people, Mrs C and my cousin, but 38 years apart. Hardly any change really.

We watched the first part of the Queens funeral at home and then made a quick dash to mid-Wales. Just got to the site in time, nice pitch by the Wye. Daughter said you'll be OK there won't be any traffic today, it turned out to be very busy until the last stretch.

We can at least get our own WiFi here but not much else.

Helen, so sorry to hear your news but also pleased to hear the herceptin test was negative. Will be thinking about you and hope you do well with all the treatment plans. Take care X

We rarely get across to this side of the country, but loved Oundle, which has any number of attractive ancient buildings (mostly belonging to the public school). On Friday they were filming an episode of The Crown (Netflix for those in the know) in the marketplace. Some lovely walks to villages in the area including Fotheringhay and Woodnewton.

So glad you enjoyed Oundle Moulesy. It is a wonderful old town. It is on our 'tourist' route whenever we have visitors to stay. I was lucky enough to go on a tour of the Oundle school buildings with a local history society some years ago during their summer holidays. I love Fotheringhay as well especially the church. Did you visit the Castle mound while you were there? We used to go on a great walk from Oundle to Cotterstock and back when we were more mobile and then have lunch in the Ship Inn.

We watched all of the Queen's funeral from start to finish. What a wonderfully moving occasion. We certainly do these occasions so well. I thought the procession through the centre of London was absolutely amazing. Some of the participants then also took part in the long procession in Windsor later and looked shattered by the time they reached St George's Chapel. I bet there are some sore feet and blisters this evening! I just hope that the Royal family are now going to have a few days rest to take stock and mourn in private.

Cripes, no proper protection in the clothing department! Not a very good role model there. Clearly a risk taker then and now!😉

They’re Italians micky. Live life to the full!

I found myself watching more of events today than I had planned, as Mum was interested. I was fine until the sight of that pony and then those two lovely corgi’s at Windsor. It was a spectacular event from a public point of view, must have been somewhat gruelling for Royal Family. The Guardsmen who were responsible for carrying the coffin did a fabulous job, especially at St George’s Chapel. Such a huge responsibility.

It has been a day of suspended animation today! Margaret put BBC1 on record from early on so we could be selective in what we watched. Margaret rushes through the bits where the young servicemen have to carry the coffin because she is concerned something will go wrong!!! We certainly do Ceremonial well and you start to wonder if you are watching the latest Netflix series. The new King has certainly upped his step count over the last week! He is only a few years younger than me and I imagine he has far greater fitness that me? I just hope he gets a few days to rest now. Nice to see George and Charlotte there as it probably wasn't easy for them.

Staying in, especially watching TV, while the weather is fine is not our thing so we were out walking in the Lower Brockhampton Estate, and only saw 3 other couples out.

Have now booked most of our sites for this trip, at least up towards the end of October, including being able to book another Club site, deposit and all!!😮

It was deserted here when I drove up to my Mum’s this morning. I had planned to go out, but ended up watching more than I thought we would. Mum was tired as well, so we just pottered at her house, then OH and I had a walk with the pooch.

We did a bit of a compromise.  We watched that State funeral at 11am but went out this afternoon.  Originally, I got the impression that the service at Windsor would be a private family affair.  In reality, it appears that the final committal, with the family was earlier this evening.

Weather fine or not I wouldnt have missed The Queen's funeral for anything. She served us so well and it was a once in a lifetime occasion. We can always go out any other day. Yes I agree TDA those young servicemen who were the bearer party did an absolutely magnificent job, especially up all those steps at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

We watched the whole magnificent spectacle, a very fitting tribute to her majesty. I was fine until the point when the coffin was lowered into the vault, that really choked me numerous tears were flowing. I was so proud for the young bearer party , those lads had the most nerve wracking part of the whole ceremony.

We came home a day early from a break at the caravan to watch the funeral on our large home tv. Watched it from start to finish, with just a packet of crisps for lunch. Yes the bearer party had a lot on their shoulders in more ways than one. Apparently the lead lined coffin weighed 500lbs, they did so well. As did everyone. Yes the pony, the corgis and not least the piper with the last lament brought many tears. When Prince Philip died his carriage and ponies standing there had the same effect, so moving.

She did us proud for 70 years and yesterday we did her proud. No one does ceremony like the British. It was impeccable. I was proud to be English.

We also watched the whole of the Queen’s funeral.  We extended our stay on this site as we were due to move yesterday.  Wouldn’t have missed it for the world it was magnificent and very fitting for an amazing lady. The service at Windsor was the most moving.  Many, many congratulations to all concerned, those who took part and those who arranged it all.  So glad it all went to plan as well.  Off to pack up and move sites today so better get going.

We didn't visit the castle mound, Millie,  though we did read about Mary Queen of Scots and the history of the area - a very interesting display in the church. But it was quite warm,  Lady was getting a bit weary and we had parked just outside the pub so decided to visit there instead! wink

We did that very walk to Cotterstock on Sunday morning before driving home and the day before in the opposite direction along the Nene and to a lovely little village called Ashton where we were hoping to sit for a quiet coffee - well we did sit for the coffee, but Northants council had obviously decided that was the very time to be cutting the grass on the village green and trimming the verges - quiet it was not! surprised

Yesterday we also stayed in to watch the whole of the funeral service - a magnificent occasion,  very moving and it still seems hard to believe that Elizabeth has gone. Rather annoyingly, our neighbour across the road decided that 11am was precisely the time to get her lawnmower out to cut the grass (which had previously been left for weeks!) frown

We were on the road driving down to Folkestone while the funeral was being televised, we followed it on the radio though. Found it very moving. Once at Folkestone we caught the Windsor part and the replay of Westminster.

Did you notice the Queen's headscarf on the saddle of the pony, like others I found that and the Corgies moving, along with the piper and the coffin being lowered.

The service men and woman and the police, all did us proud. They have been practicing for days so must have been tired, we do these occasions very well, very proud to be BRITISH.

    Now in France.

Glad you got away ok TG and I agree yesterday was a day that made us proud to be British

We got home today from a lovely week at Richmond Hargill House Club site first time we had been to that site and we loved it views were great and it was so easy to get to. We had a relaxing week visited some new places and some old favourites had a lovey meal in York on Sunday and a nice afternoon in Newcastle yesterday after watching HM funeral. A site we hope to return to. Easy 4 hour tow home today roads quite quiet even around Glasgow. Can’t go away this weekend but hoping to get away the following week for a couple of nights just to one of our local sites. Planning on heading to Chester/Blackpool area for a 10 day break in October time not 100 percent decided yet but will hopefully get somewhere

Firstly Thank you for all your messages of support, they mean a lot. 🙂

I watched the Queen's funeral up until about 2 o'clock, thought it was really moving,  we then had a get together with some of our neighbours to raise a glass to the late Queen and the new King. Caught up with the rest of the funeral in the evening.

Today was another trip to the Churchill Hospital, this time to have a radio frequency seed implanted into my breast ready for my OP. Made the mistake of going into work when I got back, so now feeling very sore! 🤕

Take care, and keep posting, all your news,  cheers me up. 🙂

Finished refurbishing our stove today. First time it’s had a full refurb, in around 8 years. Has come up really well, new firebricks, new rope door seals, all cleaned and then polished. I even repainted inside the fireplace itself. Just a quick clean of tiles to do tomorrow, and then it’s back in use.

Good to get some pre Winter tasks completed.

Had to laugh this morning,  I heard on one of the news feeds that Pres Bidens beast limo got stuck in the London traffic yesterday morning. Should have taken the bus like the other dignitaries. That guy must be so paranoid if he felt the need to have his armoured battlewagon flown over with him ...😁😁.

Trellis I remember JFK and poor Jo Cox so can understand the risks.

Nice day here by the river Wye, good walks but nothing strenuous, a few Red Kites overhead as we're not far from the feeding station.

Good luck Helen, another step along the way!

A bit more overcast in Scarborough today, but still quite humid.  We've been up to Goathland (...used as the location for Aidensfield in the Heartbeat series) and then on to Whitby (mainly visiting Whitby Abbey).  However, the town was really busy so we didn't stop long.  Home tomorrow...

We've had a very  nice day driving round the Elan Valley, looking at all the dams and reservoirs but we were surprised to see how low the water was everywhere. On return spotted this very happy pig by a hill farm...zoom in to see a picture of contentment! smile
