Had a WhatsApp message from a cousin who has spent day in “the” queue.  She did well all told, only five hours. Said it was very moving, she made some new friends for the day. Saw the video of that poor chap who fainted, hope is isn’t badly hurt, he really went down hard.

Sister’s car sailed through MOT again thankfully. Can’t fault her little Skoda, it’s never failed a test and thrives on neglect🤣

I have started browsing a few sites and stopovers in Wales.

We had a good look at the old Much Wenlock site Nellie in passing, a few years ago. Really miss that little Site. Hope you got some Walnuts of the huge tree at the Priory😁

Have a nice day cycling WN. We are hoping to take our bikes away with us again.

Did you see the CL behind the Fox and Rabbit Francis? No facilities, but it’s a nice stay, we use it in Winter. The F&R’s sister pub is up in Levisham, The Horseshoe. Great food, lovely village.

Francis OH had to contact Matthewsons about one of his projects and they were very helpful and friendly, we like watching the programmes.

Also enjoyed the new James Herriot programme last night a welcome relaxing watch.

Nellie, Wenlock Edge is so beautiful glad we got there before the site closed although I know there are a few CLs nearby.

Going to sign the book of condolences in our church today. I suppose these will be historical documents one day. Our church is quite ancient and no-one knows why such an "outstanding" building was built in such a tiny parish. The records go back a long way.

Hope you sort out a trip TDA, we're off to mid Wales, it looks colder there but will enjoy it whatever. Also going to visit our old neighbours who returned to their "roots "

Love them Corners. We are currently enjoying watching all the Montalbano’s. Sicily, and definitely a good bit of Italy on my must see list!👍

I think we will stick to North Wales and Anglesey this tour Brue. A few days Castle visiting, try and get a few bike rides in if we can. We enjoyed mid Wales a couple of years or so ago. It’s a lovely place totally is Wales, such a lot of different places and fabulous history.

It’s one of our Winter bolt holes. Our fave CL doesn’t open over Winter, but it’s great just wandering up to pub for a meal. We ended up spending OH’s birthday evening there one year, reliving our student days knocking pool balls around for hours😁

Love Mathewson’s, it’s a place we always have a look in when in area. OH found a nice vehicle he was interested in last night funnily enough.

Well, we went to our church this morning to sign the book of condolences for the Queen. I penned a nice sentiment and Mr Brue, without his glasses on signed on top of my writing. so as far as historical documents go we will  be seen as the twits....wink !!

Have just completed “Ride For Her Majesty”, a seven mile time trail bike ride around London in honour of the late Queen.

Now teaching my OH some very naughty swear words as I try to find Late Availability on here. It really does beggar belief just how bad and frustrating it is at the moment🤬 An abject lesson in taking something that worked very well and replacing it with a complete Camel!

Another good day today we went to Ripon and visited the WorkHouse museum which was fascinating and very informative we spent a good couple of hours reading all the information. We then had a wander around the town which was nice great little market square and it was very busy. Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow yet. The sun is just about to go down behind the hills.

Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

brue I also enjoyed the All Creatures Great and Small yesterday evening. A lovely comforting watch. Very welcome at the moment. I love your church.

I love the road signs corners.

Francis You sound as though you are having a great time.

We have just watched The Princes Watch from Westminster Hall. So very moving.

Brue, we would have used the old Prestbury site this trip if it was still open, as it was one of our favourites. This trip we stopped on a CL between MW and Bridgenorth, Park Grange, which was fine and very reasonably priced. Lots to do in the area so will use it again.

WN, did you manage to sort out your waste water container. Ours is a wastemaster and is now 21 yrs old and still going strong, so good value.

A steady drive for us down to Bromyard Downs site, arriving at 13:05 so could hardly have timed it any neater. They are allocating pitches here,!! surprised However we were able to swap from one in the quarry to one up the top, but no choice! Site is less than half full, including units on seasonal pitches, not all of which seem to be taken. Nice sunny day but with a chill wind in places. In the afternoon we went for a walk on the Downs after putting up the canopy again!😀

Another lovely sunny day here, which was good as we had to go out.

We now have aching arms, having had flu and Covid vaccinations this morning, but no other side effects as yet.

Then it was over to the chemist to pick up prescriptions, and then to the dentist to sign up for Denplan  as our surgery has gone private, an unwelcome expense.

After lunch, having promised DD one of our Ikea units to use in her study, we set about emptying the unit.  Amazing what you find when you investigate furniture you have not used much for several years!  Quite a few items turned out to belong to DD, so she will be getting them too.

Pretty sure there was also stuff we  could have disposed of, but no time for that today.  I now need DD to come and help dismantle the unit as it is  far too big and heavy to move while assembled.  She has also spotted some Billy bookcases being sold second hand, so I  may have  to go and help her dismantle them too to get them in her car.

And today she had a new tumble dryer delivered, so that has to be installed.  The old one also needs to be transported a short distance as the in-laws are inheriting it.   It must be 17 years old, but still going well, so they should get a few years service from it.  She is only changing it as she can now accommodate a vented dryer, which will dry much more quickly.

Last job today was a visit to the Guide Hall to measure up for 3 new radiators and some deck boards that need to be replaced, while OH had to show a couple of prospective hirers around.

Tomorrow we may get a visit from Callum and Nathan, and Mummy, to help dismantle the big cupboard.

Next  week we need to start preparing the caravan for our next trip away.

Delivered all presents this morning to a grateful birthday girl. Came home with some delicious Earl Grey Infused Teacakes😋 We decided not to go out today, as Saturdays are usually manic around here. Going to have a day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in week instead.

OH and I are going out in MH tomorrow, York Racecourse for a Classic Car Show. He is taking pooch round show, while I have a cycle into York instead. Nice to use MH like this, gives a good relaxing base, cheap food and drinks, comfy for pooch, and warm, dry shelter in case it rains. Heaven help us if OH buys some bits for MG. Mind we did get two front wings back from Cheshire last year!😁

If I said that the last time Mrs.WN saw a mighty Wurlitzer was on her honeymoon what would you think? Yea, thought so you dirty minded lot.surprised

However it is true. We spent a few days in Blackpool and went to see a Wurlitzer in the ballroom in Blackpool Tower.

43+ years later she saw her second (and me). It's Open Heritage week and at Howden-le-Wear the NETOA had an open day so we went along and were entertained for 2 hours with the history and a look behind the scenes of a magnificent beast. We were also treated to some wonderful playing and whilst having a cuppa before leaving an organist not belonging to the organisation asked if he could play it as he needed to tune up for his engagement tomorrow at Middlesborough and what a good job he made of it.

I have to admit that Wurlitzers are not my favourite instrument to hear organ music on, preferring a good one in a Cathedral, but the story behind this particular organ made the morning. Website attached for anyone interested.

We had time in the afternoon for a stroll around Low Barns Nature reserve in Witton-le-Wear and cam across a nice piece of steel seating.

We have had a day at Burghley today as it is some years since we have been there.  It is one of several HHA properties near to us. Had a very good day in the lovely weather. (a bit of a chilly breeze though. It is the first day I have worn a jacket for months!) We did a trip round the house first and then had a light lunch in the Orangery and had a short walk in the park finishing off with an ice cream. All in all a very enjoyable day

Two nice visits then Brue and WN😁 Quiye a while since I visited Burghley, and OH has never been, one for next time we are down that way.

I like thunderous organ music, especially in a big church. Once sat for an hour listening to someone practising up at St Buryan. Better than getting drenched outside in rain. Our old cinema had a big Wurlitzer that used to come up out of floor.

We've been lucky on quite a few occasions when visiting Cathedrals to hear an organist either playing or tuning up (sometimes that's not so great) but the best experience we have ever had was in Orleans Cathedral when we were there one year. Nothing much going on, a few tourists etc, when a man walked in wearing jeans and T shirt and proceeded to sing Plainchant for half an hour.

The goosebumps have just come out on my arm thinking about it. Mesmerising and all the better for being spontaneous.

(I think you meant Millie Ttda but don't worry because I don't think anyone else noticedwink)

We had intended getting our Covid booster today at the walk In centre at Bromyard, but there was a very long queue and we were on an hour parking spot, so we didn't bother and hope to book an appointment in Devizes when we get down there. Instead had a walk on the Downs before lunch at the van, and then went down to view Lower Brockhampton House, followed by a walk around the newly laid out orchard, and sampled a couple of the damsons from the trees on the way round.😁

Oh, you young Scamp Millieh  surprised  you'd be none too chuffed if they didn't tune up on occasion though (  Rumble Rumble  SQUEEEEK !  )

I like Church / cathedral organs as well as the occasional Wurlitzer but even more so the fairground style can almost always get ABM growling the ( also occasional ) lower notes innocent somewhere near the right area of the scale  embarassed

We used to go to St Buryan Fair each year down in Cornwall ABM. Always lots of steam driven stuff there, lots of traction engines, fairground organs and a very memorable steam powered car. It was almost silent apart from the odd hiss every now and then. I think one year, one of the traction engines got away on a bend🫣😱 Thankfully no one hurt.

Steam powered car --  Memorable indeed TDA --  Stanley Steam cars are still capable of a tidy turn of speed  but most of the ones I have seen take a day or six to be made any thing approaching water tight !!

P.S.  Should you get the chance, TDA, have a browse thro' some of the black & white photo's of big old steamer accidents  ~~ they often tumbled thro' the steel covers over public houses cellars and such-like -- a hell of a  way to try to get a free pint !!
