What are you all up to

You do know that tomorrow is Monday!! Must have wires crossed as I thought you were at your present site for 6 nights.
Bit of general gardening done today, tidying up before we head off on Tuesday. Still warm up here, and although we have had some rain through the night the days have been dry, and the sun put in an appearance this afternoon too, enabling OH to get the washing dried outside. Have now managed to book 7 sites so far for our next trip and waiting for a response from another.

Missed out on a bucket list item today! Our big town show in local park, OH went for a wander around Classic Cars while I took pooch for a stroll instead. When he came back he casually let slip there was an axe throwing “have a go”. Too late for me to get there☹️
Enjoyed highlights of Day1 Tour of Britain, but oh the weather up in Scotland. 😬

We had a storm in the early hours, not too much noise or flashes but VERY WELCOME decent rain 😀😀😀. We've not had any for a couple of weeks again, but the change in grass was amazing and we have runner beans now 😀.
Have turned from cul du sac plum 'lady' to its pear 'lady'
Funny old couple of weeks, house having a turn, electrics late Saturday, electrician coming today. Yes it had an electrical survey last December. Various other minor items. Missing the comfort of knowing house history, but despite it all loving house, street, village etc.
New Bosche dishwasher fitted, 26th. 3rd one after 2 Hisense ones that both ceased to heat within a very short time, 2nd within 2 weeks. First 2 fitted brilliantly, 3rd had to have 2 attempts, all by the large online company, and each time the actual sink waste pipes leaked, first time soaking cupboard contents. So no dishwasher working and camping style use of kitchen sink. Same fitter both time, dishwasher didn't work 1st time as bung left in the waste! What worried me greatly was he's gas safe 😱......
Sprained ankle, long story no idea apart from walking, suddenly couldn't weight bear, turns out more of an RSI starting from the hip. Physio visit, very good, acupuncture, immediate reaction to needle insertion 😱🤣 but much improvement. I thought the hip discomfort start of arthritis which is rife in maternal family genes. It's amazing how much longer things take when you're less mobile.
Lovely to read others news and see photos. Glad we've booked a week in Norfolk later this month 🤞
More work, boiler and associate work starts Wednesday, car service, hopefully removal of hydrangea today 🤐 so slimmer wallet, Ernie was kind to us both this month, but if we're lucky will just cover car service 🤞
Beautifully sunny must get myself moving.
Edit grass looks even better after the rain. Forgot to add 2nd company digging up paths in the area, ours included to lay their own ducting for fibre broadband. So unusable paths for the 2nd time in a couple of months and awful mess this time. Council inspector been out, but statutory body so allowed.... but they have made them 'tidy' up, you wouldn't know if you'd not seen before! MADNESS.

You have been busy B2! Hope your ankle holds up, things sometimes "go" for no reason. Sounds like you will be ready for your Norfolk break.
Lovely photo WN, we're turning towards those beautiful autumn skies now.
A lot of clearing up needed here, leaves and apples on the ground. Collecting cat today, cattery fees up from £10 to £12 and the owner is thinking of selling up.

Sorry you missed out on axe throwing TDA!

Good luck for your next trip Nellie. We have to keep an eye on a neighbour's place whilst they do a big trip northwards. They haven't been before and it's rather an ambitious trip!

Terrific thunderstorm here, last night..... according to Carol.... I slept thought ot though, apparently! 😀. Of to George Eliot Hospital this afternoon to see someone about Gallstones..... apparently I have a lot of them! Had them for years. 😀 Went through a period before the holiday when they were painful, especially when lying down. Pain almost gone now, but perhaps this afternoon will be whether he decides to take a knife to them or not!!

Well eventually heard from garden help, texted last eve to confirm it was on. He claimed mid morning he meant next Monday 😡🤐. All communications are by text! If help were easier to find.........
Electrics fixed, handyman had drilled through the double switch wires when putting up curtain track the week before last. Luckily the one he hit was indoor light, so now only operates from room's other entrance, no hardship as not large room. Outside light still operational. Lucky for him that the one he hit hadn't been used from that switch before he hit it.
Next dilemma do I ask him for electrician bill and risk losing him or just suggest he needs a gadget for checking fir pipes and wires before he drills? Answers in a postcard please 😉
Quality of pears is very slowly going down. I've put them on village fb page but it's not helping much. Will go and check them in a bit.
Sitting in the garden, in-between chores, a getting some spots hitting my body! Must grab washing in
Edit our new garden bin has arrived along with the sticker to prove its paid for 👍

I have never heard of Hisense appliances, certainly weren't around when I was in the trade! Now on our 4th Bosch in 38 years. Number 4 is a Neff but still the Bosch stable. There was nothing wrong with the previous one we had but we redid the kitchen and now have an integrated one instead of freestanding.

I've always believed that Drills { hand or electric } and Rawltools should only be sold to / used by people with an IQ rating of 110+ !! And that came about when as a junior Telephone Engineer I was installing a telephone System in a builders Show House when he moved from the 'Office Caravan ' Dammit there was I looking at the wall behind the Secretaries Desk where the twin-three pin sockets power feed ran diagonally across the wall, gawd help the occupants after the wall was painted !"!

Hisense was a name we came across in NZ.
On our last viewing of the house once we'd exchanged contracts, it was casually mentioned top basket of dishwasher had to be handled with care as stopper missing. Once we started using it we realised that it was a real pain trying to refit it when it fell out. It's integrated but small one, and we thought we'd probably refit kitchen in a few years and get a bigger one in keeping with a 4 bed family home, so went for cheaper end. Certainly a bad choice. We had Bosche at our previous house.
The fitted oven has a broken thermostat too I discovered in our early days when I almost burnt a casserole 🤐

Good luck David.
I think these days they can use key hole surgery. Mrs WN had to have her gallbladder removed many, many years ago and still bears the scars. So I hope they'll be kinder to you.
Had a busy day today. Packed up at previous CL. Took quite a while as everyone one site decided to have a chat. Not a problem with that at all as they were all very friendly but it delayed us a bit. Got to the new site OK. Another very spacious one.
Decided that as it was a lovely sunny day that we'd go for a bike ride so we had a gentle stroll down the Lancaster Canal to Hest Bank and a local directed us to a nearby pub as we looked in need as some liquid.
My favourite brew as well. Who'd 'ave thunk it eh?
Back to the caravan and we then put the canopy awning up after having another very lengthy chat with one of the other stayers on site. Had a stroll after dinner down to the edge of Morecambe Bay. Didn't think you would want a photo of Heysham Nuclear Power stations glistening in the sun so I've spared you.
A bit tired now. We'll miss our Little Owl at the other site which made himself known every night.

Good luck for your next trip Nellie
Thanks, brue. We are looking to head over to Somerset after a stay near the New Forest, however the site we tried yesterday closes at the end of September, although it was showing availability for all of October on it's CL Booking web site page. So will have to have a rethink.
While stocking up for the trip we spotted what we hope is a bargain, 4 Cyclamen plants for £1, at Tesco. All planted and now just have to hope that they will take while we are away.
Off to watch the highlights of the cycling now, but why have they put it back an hour! 🤔
Glad you arrived safely, WN, and it sounds as if you had a good afternoon out too.

Had a booked visit from Adult services lady today as OH had been referred by our doctor after home visit last month ,to assess house for any add aids we may need
She has.recommended a shower rest (like a wall mounted support)for OH
Also evidently an alloy ramp to assist OH by taking some of the slope off our footpath to the front offront door from where I now park the PVC
Also going to ask the County Highways for a disabled parking area outside our house may mean removing part of the grass verge?she says it is not normally refused if they ask as long as they think it is safe
We should have it all done in about six weeks, which should workout as we are going to try a tour starting from next Sunday until 12th October all this clubs sites with disabled access toilets

Thanks Wherenext. The gallbladder appointment was a bit of a non-event, to be honest. Although I have stones, he said the pain I described didn't sound like gallbladder. He reckoned it was muscular/ skeletal, so he's going to see how things go and see me again in 6 months. No pain now, at all so we'll see what happens.....
Enjoy your time away in the North West. Hope weather is better than it is here. I've just driven back from a meeting through heavy rain and lightening. Be careful out there anyone who is out and about in their caravan/ motorhomes - have a good time - the weather is very variable. Careful with the ankle Bakers2 and enjoy Norfolk. Looks like it will be a couple of weeks before we get out again..... thinking of Scarborough....

Thanks for good wishes re my ankle/leg. Its hard not to overdo things as most activities require use of both to achieve 😂
DSB I know little if gall stones but men my dad had them I know he was in agony, so hopefully your consultant is right. Time to see a physio?
Awoken to quite thick fog, can't see the farm buildings the other side of the school. Still it's moisture. Must have had some rain overnight too.
I'd forgotten how fast the grass grows even if patches are still Sahara like and they was no weeds in sight on bare earth in the heat. There's always an up.and a down!
Hopefully we are off to Hunstanton in a dog friendly pub/hotel very soon.
Enjoy your day folks.

Yesterday my husband travelled down to a private hospital at Preston (FOC, referred by NHS re long waiting list), for a consultation on his rapidly deterioating hip. It was agreed it was in a bad way and needed fixing as soon as possible. This will not be as soon as we hoped, but definitely this year, probably December.
We're very grateful that our son and grandson can do most of the hard physical work, and allow Henry time to come in and rest up now and then. But it's still up at 5 am and back in at 6.30 pm.
One thing he managed easily after work yesterday - picked a big bucket of apples. So no more putting them on my shopping list. These were just the low lying fruit, someone else will have to climb up the tree.
Meanwhile, I'm baking cakes to pack up for lunch boxes for our helpers at Westmorland Show

I am sure the time will fly. At least things have been set in motion. Sometimes if you are willing to go in at short notice he can take up a cancellation place. I was fortunate that I didn't have to go back into a work situation after I had mine done but generally you are more or less back to normal after 3 months.
David

We did say if there was a cancellation he could be there in a couple of hours. The consultant joked (I think) that some people camped out in a caravan in the car park.
Henry had his other hip done 14 years ago (when they said the other would need doing in 5 to 6 years), so he knows what to expect. I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep - no more moaning and swearing in his sleep from the body next to me.

Goldie, I gather that there are quite a few cancellations because of covid so your OH might be lucky.

What an awful day, none stop rain. Very heavy at times, really dark skies its like winter already apart from its not cold. Had to have the lights on by 4.30pm, its so dark in the house couldn't see the key board on my laptop.
Went into town this morning for a bit of retail therapy, got a few bits and pieces but the town was very quiet (well it was raining) lots of things in the shops but not what I fancied.
We seem to have more coffee shops than the last time I was in town, none of them that busy I don't think they will last long with all the price rises. Quite a few shops are now closed, town had a very depressing feel to it.

Food shopping this afternoon, I've been stocking up on stuff to take with us like T bags and coffee, I know you can get them over there but they are not the same
thankfully they are light items. I like porridge for breakfast so plenty of that will go under the beds. OH has finished for the time being, making 3D printed brackets for the fold up sinks. He has done 100 and has orders for more, when we return at the end of the year. A good break is needed as its taken up a lot of his time. I've been doing all the packaging for him.

Today have taken the decision to sell our caravan good news is was given quite a good price and no damp found ,then the dealer went underneath to look at axle as he said they have found numerous with alko axle problems theory being c/vans being left loaded during lockdown had "settled" causing the axle to be damaged as if overloaded ours being one of those I was invited to check

The salesman did say they have found several when on their annual service which made them a failure

Up side still got £1350 more than offered last year

Will also save at least £745 on this clubs storage fees as PVC is able be parked near house

We had early darkness due to the weather yesterday TG, followed by thunderstorms and lots of rain, it's been better today, even some sunshine so managed to catch up with washing after our recent trip (and TV, watching planes and cars and reporters running out of things to say...
) Good to hear your OH is now on the list proper Goldie, hope it happens sooner rather than later.
Have booked a few theatre visits, we have a local literary festival coming up, quite a mix of people Kate Adie, Delia Smith, Lucy Worsdley, Hugh Bonneville etc etc...quite a mix, I booked Alexander McCall-Smith. Then I booked a theatre visit for a trip away. Had to stop as I also needed to buy something to clean upholstery...a bit more down to earth!
We put some road side veg out today, one courgette too many at home.

Well be careful what you wish for! We have had thunderstorms the past 2 nights with very heavy rain and an absolute deluge this afternoon when our road was awash for a while. We won't need to pressure wash the patio after all that! It has been a busy few days with the last few days of the dinosaur exhibition which has now finished. They are now extinct again
Today the Natural History Museum team are in place dismantling everything. We thought it would be a quiet day today as the exhibition has now finished and the children are back at school but it was surprisingly busy with visitors. We had some lovely people coming in. We have also ordered a new Hive thermostat which is being fitted on Friday as we just can't cope with the one that came with our boiler 2 years ago. The Hive can be programmed by the mobile phone (mine as OH doesn't have a smartphone!). Our DIL recommended it and will give us any help if needed.I do hope your ankle/leg improves soon Bakers2. How frustrating for you when you have so much to do. Have you had it X-rayed as it might be a stress fracture as they can suddenly appear for no apparent reason? I had a stress fracture in my foot some years ago which our GP said was probably as a result of walking across a ploughed field with our walking group which had put too much stress on it.
I am pleased to hear that everyone has had/is having good trips away. I hope you have all managed to avoid at least some of downpours and thunderstorms.

Very mixed weather here today, at times hot and sunny, then wet and even a rumble of thunder. We have had a day at home and our shower room is finally 100% finished, even has a new blind and 2 new sets of bath mats!
Yesterday was sunny and warm, Touareg was dropped off for service and MOT, which it passed without problems, though the size of the service bill was rather greater than expected. Then on the way to pick it up OH decided we should go in past Ikea and get a new blind for the bathroom.
Tonight I have been considering how to lay the new flooring in the other downstairs bathroom (which is not otherwise getting a makeover), and have come up against a problem. The 2 downstairs bathrooms have hatchways in their floors to access the 2 unconnected under-floor areas, so these need to be retained and the flooring allow for this.
We have decided on LVT, which is easy to lay, clicks together, and suitable for using on a hatchway cover. I have edged the opening and the cover in our shower room with aluminium profile, which is neat, but not that beautiful, but it will/should be covered in both bathrooms by the new mats.
However, on inspecting the hatch in the second bathroom, I found that it sits too close to an external corner, formed by 2 internal walls, to allow me to make a proper 4 sided surround and cover that could be covered by a mat, so OH has vetoed the position. Cannot believe I had never noticed that before.
We have dug out the house plans and identified 4 possible alternative positions for said hatchway, but this will mean some very accurate measuring, and a trip under the floor for me, as I will only have one shot at cutting a new hole in the floor!
2 positions are still in the bathroom, but the other 2 are next door in my little tool store/work room/box room. These 2 latter possibilities would be better, no need to conceal with mats, but I still need to figure it all out to be sure there will be enough free floor area, before I can go ahead and floor over the existing one.
Things are never simple it seems. ☹️

We need you here to rally the troops KJ, both OH and daughter's partner have come to a full stop getting her bathroom finished. It wasn't a straightforward job and involves a hard to get hold of plumber. Maybe it's better left to one person?

Meanwhile jobs here go further down the list and the garden suddenly resembles a wreck! Our garden help is quite poorly with Covid and OH has been visiting a contact of hers, helping him with some computer work.
It certainly feels autumnal now, spotted some fungi and a lovely hand made chestnut gate recently.
2 -
Those gates are lovely, such skill. Sorry to hear about your injury Bakers. My sister is still getting over a badly sprained ankle.
We are off to a Club Site today. It’s drizzling here, after two months of no daytime rain, so our timing is excellent🤣 it’s only half an hour away, won’t be rushing to get there for 1pm.

Just had a phone call from a friend whose parents 90yrs are on a c/van tour of Scotland (before they are to old)
to say their VWToureges? clutch had gone near Oban, they are on an AS?site and are not sure when it will be fixed, Mayday have said they can relay them home (near Whipsnade)but as his mum has mobility. problems she would no be able to climb in and out of the relay vehicles He thinks he may have to go up to fetch them and caravan stopping at hotel on outward and sites on the return
Big problems

We have a Miele dishwasher that keeps only going on a rinse cycles (it is about 10yearrs old?)and they want £180 call out charge plus parts
A neighbour. who is a Hotpoint engineer has had a look but he says most machines. all work on the same principle but with different. electronics and as ours is top of the range ,the prices are like top of the range cars parts are the same as many much cheaper. models but they expect owners to pay more for the name
It is now just filling the area it is fitted but not in use which. now is not a problem as when at home and away I only washup once a day after our evening.meal

Ps Far befit from me to suggest this club has lost the plot
have received an email.from EGH thanking me for my booking for a storage pitch Contacted the site the caravan was stored and got a very frustrated site manager, who is going to try to contact EGH as a relinquish. form was. sent when I took the c/van out of the storage
