No problem JK, I just felt this was an important and interesting development which should reach a wider audience than is likely to see it here mixed up with lots of other subjects. It looks as if I will have to start my own thread in UK Campsites

We've been lucky locally as the Hauser and Wirth gallery and garden near Bruton has hosted a large and free Henry Moore exhibition over the last few months. It's coming to an end next week and I managed a visit yesterday. After a coffee and cake in the cafe (first things first) I really enjoyed a wander round the exhibition and gardens, it was very hot but I'm glad I finally got there.

We stayed at Willingcot site and the Wardens that we knew from previously ,were advising us of the plans for JKs site , including how it was to be supervised from Willingcot but was then without the added expense of anpr members were to book in at Willingcot and given a barrier card for the other site when they were installed
With the much delayed latest system it would be as the trial in Scotland now

Well JK I got that wrong, I always imagined that you were at Willingcott. We have lived here almost 40 years and never knew that there was a CAMC at West Down. And when I was working I travelled most of the lanes of North Devon extensively. (that’s how come my reversing skills are excellent - but I still can’t parallel park!) I suppose if it’s on your doorstep then you don’t need to think about staying there and actually look for it.

Lovely photos brue. What a nice trip out.

Morning
We ran Willingcott site in 2015 Deb, loved the area so jumped at the chance of this site. Bit of a shock though when just after we arrived here last year we had a surveyor on site all ready to put the for sale sign up! Thankfully we're not on the market now.
We had a visit yesterday from some retired staff who worked here in 1998, it was mentioned back then about members booking in at Willingcott to come here but was proved too much work for those involved and too much hassle.

Well JK your reviews are all excellent so you must be proud of that. Seriously can you imagine traking a caravan to Willingcott and then having to turn around and trail it back to West Down, especially if you’ve been stuck on the motorway for a few hours, then the everyday Braunton hold up! And the locals would love that even more! Obviously whoever came up with that one wasn’t local. Or did they mean remotely, can’t see how that would work either.
So many farmers around here selling their land for building, maybe that was the idea for your site. The reason people come to North Devon won’t exist soon, it’s turning into one big building site.

Another one for us brue when we next get down. We discovered this area back when we used to stay at Wincanton, it just has so much available that interests us does the Somerset/Devon/Dorset/Wiltshire Borders area.
DK, your TV set up sounds complicated to us😁 We just have two Smart TVs, with Freeview. In truth, neither gets used much, mainly sport, the odd catch up/ iPlayer every so often. I much prefer to watch box sets and films on my IPad nowadays, with head phones. We only bought the Sony because we thought the Samsung was playing up, oops that was expensive🤣
Another glorious day here, we got up to 24c yesterday, too hot to work in comfortably in sunshine. OH I think is itching to get out on his bike, I might have a bit of a chill out day.

Yes I can see it might seem a bit complicated but seems to work for us. Margaret is a bit of a TV addict when she is not reading. Me, I tend to watch Newsnight and a few series like Shetland. I suppose it won't be long before we watch everything via the internet? If things continue as they are I am not sure there will be much of the BBC left as we know it today. Learnt yesterday that Dateline London is being taken off air after 25 years. Probably a bit of a niche programme but its something the BBC (used) do well. I did read there has been a bit of climb down on taking BBC4 off air, apparently they are going to be watching viewer numbers before they do so. I have always been a staunch defender of the Licence Fee but even I am wavering!!!

We have never been big TV watchers in truth, we only had a B&W TV for years when first married. We usually take a look at anything innovative and possibly good drama when it arrives live, such as the recent Marriage, The Bodyguard, The Night Manager, etc….. but all the reality drivel, wannabe famous stuff we never watch. Haven’t watched a soap since early Brookside. 🤣 We trawl the iplayers for classic viewing, documentaries, particularly history and natural World stuff. The mock tension that surrounds all quiz shows but University Challenge, all the screaming and nasty put downs on the likes of Strictly, etc…. Just leaves us cold. I like watching Bake Off, and the Great Pottery Throw Down, but it’s a theme done to death now. Give me a decent gripping box set, or a good film and I’m happy. But stuff like GoT, Fortitude, Westworld won’t see light of day on terrestrial TV.

And a Boris Special on Have I got News For You.

At the moment I've been listening to a series on BBC Sounds "Welcome to the Neighbourhood " quote " it delves into the murky world of community message boards and apps." Since we've had two local whatsapp going recently I find it quite funny but I need to be on the alert a bit more....

That’s Monday Evening sorted then👍 Thanks Goldie. Two we do watch, although usually on catch up.

What's a Telly?

Don't use it a great deal. We've just transferred to Freesat from Sky. MiL seems to be getting the hang of it. She watches it a great deal more than us.
Been sorting out the caravan today. Ran through a fresh batch of water etc. packed a few things away, mainly clothes and food staples. Planted some bulbs for next year today as well.

We are Francis, we are at Loch Ness Shores C&CC site.
Lovely site, if a bit remote. Weather has been brilliant so far, caught a bit of sun this morning sitting outside the caravan. Went in to Inverness for a drive this afternoon, parked up by the Caledonian canal and had a walk, followed by ice cream of course.
Our friends we went to France with this year live in Largs, sounds like you had a nice day.
Tomorrow we may go out towards Fort William, see what the weather is like first. Then home on Tuesday as we have a funeral to go to on Wednesday. Was thinking of going away again next Friday but might not bother as it would only be for a few days.
We need to sort out the MH for going away to Spain and the garden will need a last tidy before going. I've forgotten to pack a few things this time the worst one is the big towels for showers 😩 so hand towels had to do this morning 😲

Had a last dip in pool as it needed cleaning but it was a bit cool in the pool but at least it is clean now as we go away next Monday the 5th and will not have much time now, will use pool on both sites as the second site is a heated pool. Got upto34.5C today phew let us hope it will cool down during the week poor OH has to sort the fosse septique out as we have been saving so much water to water the garden it got a bit blocked anyway all sorted and his clothes have been washed and dry well in this heat.
My car in for service tomorrow then Tuesday CT (MOT) as done in different places here, also off to friend tomorrow to deliver the scaffold tower they bought last weekend as it is in our trailer so a busy day tomorrow but at least we get lunch at our friends.

Dashed off to Onslow Park Steam Fair @ 9.30 this morning -- a simple drive to Shrewsbury, round the ring road and there I was NOT !! got to Shrewsbury ok and part way round the ring road then a short two and a quarter hour traffic crawl along the dual carriageway !
Got onto the showground at a Quarter to two - just in time to get tangled with the farm tractors heading into the Main Ring, so had a snack and an ice cream just to make the bunny smile a little !! All in all twas not a bad show with plenty of steamers, but the car park was huge & well packed. Still the Ducato's key-fob alarm guided me home to rest the corns, mop the brow and steadily trundle home.
A good, shutter-clicking day, but by 'eck a tiring one, so now for bed, hope you all are well exercised like wot I is

I probably watch almost as much YouTube as I do TV. There are some Van Lifers I follow, some political channels, travel, music, DIY all sorts. Very useful for those things on the computer you have forgotten how to do!

A confession.
My name is Goldie 146 and I watch television. And I even have Sky.
Though we very rarely watch live programmes, I do record quite a lot of stuff. Mainly old films (my choice) and series like Shetland and Vera. The only time we watch on the night it’s on, is if it’s something we don’t want someone to let slip a spoiler.
As early risers we go to bed early, so anything starting at 9pm is watched a day or more later.

I watch TV and other things (YouTube, Netflix etc), but I do prefer live TV. - there's just something comfortable about a regular schedule. However, we do record stuff we miss. I prefer to record and watch rather than 'catch-up'.... that way, I can delete what I've watched, and I can see exactly how many episodes of Corrie I have left to watch before I'm up to date... 🤣🤣
Arrived back home yesterday after all our 'travels'.... lots on the 'V' box to watch....

Hope you had a good time in the Hebrides David!
Have to say regarding TV we never record anything and only have freeview, no expense spared here.
Occasionally watch iplayer on TV or phone etc but reception not good until we fork out for fibre which is now at the house but we're still copperwire. We move slowly here, OH watches more TV than me. I like my radio listening.A stiff north easterly breeze here today but still totally dry and sunny. A wonderful summer for beach holidays down our way but we desperately need some rain!
We ended up with the extra dogs last night after the free Steam fair ticket was used by daughter. Can't post the Steam fair videos on here as they're not on YouTube but here's a "still" from the band.

We occasionally get close OP. But OH does love his MOTD. Only time we have a TV in outfit is for sport such as a Tour, or World Cup football. It’s going to Clumber with us for Tof B, but we don’t own a booster cable so it might get interesting, I predict a bit of bad language🤣

We probably started to take a TV away with us when we first had a caravan with an aerial. Having said that I doubt we took it way when we went abroad but then we were only going for a three week max. It changed when we retired and were able to go away for longer and I got to grips with a satellite dish. I would rather not recall the many pointless hours I spent trying to set up a satellite dish abroad! I even hijacked a Dutch guy to help me on one site!!! Mind you always a good way of striking up a conversation when you are struggling to set up a dish
I somehow expect divorce would come before not taking the TV in the van now!!!David
