Exactly why, apart from needing the money, she wants to sell, it has become far too stressful.   She was a single person back in 2012, with a good job, but few responsibilities, now she has a husband and 2 small children, a large mortgage, a much bigger home to look after, and managerial responsibilities at work.

The last thing she needs are tenants who do not report problems until they are huge, and who seem to have very little common sense.......which it seems is sadly lacking these days!

She is fully expecting that they will not move out without a fight, and that it is going to be expensive (for her), unfortunately.

Over the time she  has owned it the place has been redecorated 3 times, the kitchen and bathroom improved/replaced, all appliances other than the hob renewed, and the gas boiler replaced, so it has been well maintained, and made very little profit for her.

The last straw was a notification from the factor (building manager) that a new lift was required, at a cost, to her, of over £6000, which is more than she has in the property account.

    Thanks heddlo.

I guess it's not your first venture up here so you will know nothing is guaranteed 😅 September on the West Coast can be lovely and mild, rain is only liquid sunshine I'm told 😅😅 have a great trip. Don't do what I did, I forgot the big towels for showers 😅 good job I had a few hand towels.

Lazy morning just some washing, then a spot of lunch before heading into Perth for our friends funeral. What a turn out he had.

Not a religious service but perfect for him. Music on entry was 'Don't stop me now' by Queen. Moment of reflection 'You're my best friend' also by Queen. Committal 'My Way' by old blue eyes. Music on exit 'One piece at a time' by Johny Cash, this made everyone laugh as 'Willie' was famous for his rebuilds of Land Rovers. It was a celebration of his life, just as it should be. Great to see so many folk there.

Complete change of weather today, rain all gone, blue skies and warm sun, for a few days more if the forecast is to be believed.

Making  some progress with booking our trip, have now booked a CCC site in Northumberland for 5 nights, and a serviced CL near Hexham for another 5 nights, so just 4 nights left to sort.

Today I have been doing more work in the morning on DD's study door, she needs to buy a new latch, and looking after the little people in the afternoon.  OH did their shopping this morning, which is a big help for DD.

Her old  Volvo V40 is in for MOT, a few repairs needed, but it will live another year.   Now 20 years old, spares have to be sourced via Volvo's "classic cars" service, so the car will not be coming back till at least tomorrow.   We have loaned her our Smart meantime, as she has to go to her office tomorrow.

Pleased to hear that you enjoyed ( as much as was possible )  your friends Memorial service, TammyG.  I always find it hard to refrain from smiling at such times when my twisted sense of humour drags up a happy-ish thought from the depths of my memory.

    Darn it, KJ, I only wish I had had half as much get up and go as you before it got up and went {  WHOOOOSH !}

Thanks Brian, I think today we were all very much like minded and rather than a sombre service it was respectful and true to our friend, one couldn't help but have a smile at some of the things he had done.

Kj, is it Beadnell Bay you have booked?

No, were were in that area twice on day trips from Haggerston in June, with DD and the little ones, so have opted for Dunstan Hill instead.

Our trip is now finally all booked......East Fortune CL......CCC Dunstan Hill .....Well House CL........CCC Jedburgh........Elie Holiday Park (Shell Bay) Fife.......then we hand over to DD for a week and return for 1 night to pick up the van.    The last site was their choice, but it looks nice enough, and we have friends in Aberdour to visit.

Prices are not bad either, the 21 nights average is £20.28, helped by Jedburgh being only £17 per night.   It has full facilities, but we may well just use our own.

Second day of our new tour. Lovely sunny day and just the 1 other unit on the spacious CL.

Had a walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal this afternoon, mainly because we had to pass a nice pub on the way back.laughing

The CL is surrounded by fields of Barley all glistening gold in the sun, cue Sting song. Trouble is they are harvesting it!! Glad they stopped at 11pm last night. They are currently doing the field next to us now so hopefully they'll finish before midnight. I think they've seen the weather forecast.

    Hope all are well.

Not been to Dunstan Hill, I remember brue went there. Be interested on how you like it. The people that live across from us go to Elie, they take their gKids and sometimes do what you are doing with yours. Of course for us it's not that far away. Sounds a nice tour. We stopped one night at Jedburgh last year on our way to France.

Been a nice day here today, spent the morning hoovering the cars out and giving the insides a freshen up. This afternoon it was the MHs turn, started sorting out what we are taking with us and where we are packing it.

OH has now made and sold 98 sets of the 3D blocks for the foldaway sinks in the V-lines. Once the next batch is despatched that's it until December. Its taken up a lot of our time this summer. Time for a break and some sun.

    Have a good trip WN.

A while ago we were discussing the relative merits or not as the case may be of self check out and self scan systems in supermarkets. As I mentioned we use the Waitrose Quick Check system and some wondered about problems with security. Well today when we went to the checkout to pay we came up for a rescan, first time since well before COVID. In the olden days ( as mentioned by one contributor) you had to have a complete rescan of all the goods at one of the main till points. This seems to have changed. Today only a proportion of what we purchased was rescanned, fortunately all items in the rescan had been scanned by us. Had they found a discrepancy the whole lot would have been rescanned. Be interesting to see how long it is before another rescan!

Yesterday we both visited the dentist, well the dental hygienist actually, me to have a filling done by her, as she has now qualified to do dental repair work, and OH for her 3 monthly clean-up. In the afternoon I insulated the waste water pipes under the caravan in preparation for our winter trips away.

Today we had the service engineer in to replace parts in our gas heating boiler, thankfully the cost covered by our insurance. All is now well, hopefully, for a few more years yet. I cleared out and cleaned the inside of the car before taking it in tomorrow for it's service and MOT, so that will be an expensive experience I expect.

Have our first 5 sites booked for our next trip, including 2 club sites, although that may well change. Have ideas of where else we will go, just have to see about booking the sites now.

That’s how Tesco do their checks DK. If you get selected, it tells the staff member how many random items to scan. If anything comes up unscanned, you are taken discretely to one side, and every single item is rescanned.

Had a lovely day yesterday. Took Mum and Sis out for a look around Renishaw Hall Gardens, which is not too far from us, lovely place. Mum was really up for it, Sis managed all the way round on her still recovering leg. Not too busy either, we had a nice picnic in the sunshine, a coffee later in the courtyard, and then I dropped Mum back home. Bit hit and miss nowadays knowing how far and how long to take her out, but it did us all good. Back home, OH had MG out on drive, so we went for a spin in this later as well. Like being on a skateboard compared to high up Jeep😂 Good fun though. Mum had a surprise visit from an old friend as well yesterday, so that was an added bonus. Friend is a lot younger than Mum, sadly lost her husband last year (not Covid), but she’s well versed in being with someone with dementia, and Mum was so pleased to see her.
Creative evening as well, I have some new Japanese beads to play with, so had a happy couple of hours while OH caught up with midweek football. Hair cutting and MH packing today hopefully👍

Dunstan Hill is a nice site, we drove past it last year. Close to Embleton Bay, with its fabulous beach and Dunstanburgh Castle. I think we stayed there back in 1983😁 Nice villages and scenery around. Howick House and Gardens not far. We like East Fortune as well, another good location👍

I am pondering on where to go for our postponed tour now🤔 Weather will be main factor in choice, but North Wales or North Norfolk might be nice.

Just looking in, sitting outside looking at the sea in Devon, the children on the site are having a nice time, quite amusing watching them. It reminded me of Dunstan Hill as they gathered together in a similar way there, plenty of grass spaces and a play area for them. We liked Dunstan  Hill but transport is needed. We spent quite a bit of time walking down to the beach, there was a good open air cafe at the golf course and the beach was lovely, walking distance to Dunstanborough and then onto Craster (but easier with a car.) Plenty to do but I think Beadnell Bay was  better for local access and the beach just over the road.

The site here is starting to empty out and 40mph winds forecast so I'm wondering how weekenders will fare. Nice blue sea but too choppy for a swim!

Hope other breaks are going well our next one will be in mid Wales, on the Wye.

Our visiting Chiropodist, Vicky, came today. Oh what luxurysmile Where we worked we had a visiting chiropodist which was heavily subsidised by the company so we were used to the service. The reason behind providing the service was that the majority of people were on their feet all day. As we have got older we have found it more difficult to attend properly to our feet. The first chiropodist we used was a bit weird!!! Rather than just deal with the feet she wanted to delve into medical history etc and we virtually got to the point where we had to make excuses to get her out of the door!!! Then we found Vicky who is probably in her late thirties, early forties, pleasant and efficient.

We stayed at East Fortune in June this year, not on the CL but on their other site, Station Park, where there are grass and hardstandings, and some of each are serviced.

We pushed out the boat and had a serviced HS @ £22 per night, but trying to book now, the price has shot up to £27.50 for September, so we are on the CL this time, all HSs, for £20, same as earlier in the year.   Neither site has toilets or showers.

Thanks, heading off middle of the month. Yes, had to take into account our Lanzarote trip in March as well. As we returned to the UK on the 14th June, we were free to go for 90 days anytime after the 15th Sept. However if we did that we couldn't get Lanzarote in, so we are going for 10 weeks instead, that will leave us Dec, Jan, Feb clear so Lanzarote and a spring trip in the van are doable ☺️ took a bit of playing around with dates, first try I was 6 days over. All sorted now, just itching to get away, it's been a busy summer.

Once again have a good trip, wherever you are. ☺️☺️

Had a lovely late morning/early afternoon cycle today from Formby NT Nature Reserve to Crosby (Gormley Iron men area, who were submerged soon after we arrived due to a high tide). Lovely sunny day with a breeze. There and back only 16 miles but very enjoyable especially with a Mr.Whippy ice cream at the end.🍦

TG, on a CL a few miles outside Southport. Enjoy your trip wherever you end up.

Looks like Barley Cropper has finished his work. He was good enough to knock off last night at 11.00.

Mixed reviews for weather for tomorrow so we'll take a rainproof coat just in case. Probably be a walk.

Sound as if the start to your tour has gone well, WN. Francis and Brue, enjoy your weekend away. TG hope that your next trip goes to plan and you have a good time over there.

Took car in for service and MOT early this morning, and then set off for a decent walk around to Brigsteer and back via Levens village. Phone call half way round to inform me that the car had failed due to disc pad wear, which wasn't that unexpected. Got them replaced, retested, service done, car washed and all ok. It did mean that I had a wait back at the garage, but with 2 cups of coffee and biscuits the time soon passed and I was back home by 12:45. Although it has made a hole in my pocket it was not quite as expensive as I anticipated.
Lots of traffic on the A590, not helped by a collision on the east bound side by Foulshaw Nature reserve, hence a tailback nearly to the Lindale roundabout.

Glad folks are enjoying their breaks away, we will move caravan today so more packing for our trip on Monday hooray.

Yesterday we had three thunderstorms and some decent rain at last so now got water in the water butts but OH had to clear one downpipe as it was blocked but not the gutter that was clear all sorted.

Had some sad news last night friends of our in UK had to have their elderly Springer Spaniel put down yesterday he had a good life 14 or 15 years old  looks like it may have been a stroke, they have made the decision not have another dog as youngest grandchild not keen on dogs and she is only 3 years old, just glad we saw him whilst here and in UK in May this year.

Now gone dull again but need to get washing out and get packing done.

    Enjoy your weekend folks.

Hope we get some of your rain RedKite, here in Devon it's still bone dry, field after field! Normally cattle would be in this field but as you can see it's not looking too good. Spots of rain in the air just now so fingers crossed.

Home after a lovey weekend break at Strathclyde Park club site. Site was very busy all weekend. We didn’t do much just relaxed which was needed after a hectic few weeks at home. Was pouring this morning when we got up but luckily by the time we were packing up it had stopped. Easy hour tow home van now back on it’s space and the sun is out so am afternoon in the garden I think. Home now for just over a week then we are off down to Yorkshire for a week looking forward to that.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend

We're back too Francis, glad you had a good break. It took three hours to drive up from South Devon, in amongst the last of the family holiday traffic heading home. Still warm but good to see some rain. As we left this morning we passed a group of female swimmers coming up from the beach , obviously a local group of all year round swimmers with all the gear and those warm bathing coats. The sea was very rough and churning on the beach,  that would have sunk me immediately! 🏊

Had an easy last day which included a walk along the canal and a full wash of clothes.

Managed to get them all dry.

    Off northwards tomorrow.

We seem to have escaped most of the forecast rain except for a sharp shower 30 minutes ago.

Have enjoyed our stay which wasn't planned at all until 2 days before we left, just to give us a relaxing entree to the tour.
