Thankfully there is only the one at the moment brue so all is quiet. Time will tell whether he brings his family and friends!

Our son lives near a big park in Watford, over the years we have seen more and more of these birds in the park. This summer while sitting quietly in their garden I saw one fly to the tree in their garden. We have many quite rare native birds visiting our Devon garden, but our son looked up in the tree and said, ‘I bet you don’t get them Mum’. No we don’t and it felt quite strange to see one in the garden. They seem to be spreading quite quickly.

Thanks millie, but things didn't quite go to plan today as there was a road closure north of Telford which meant a 20 ml detour, so got to our CL a bit later than anticipate. But thankfully we have got away from the rain, as we had about 12 hrs solid through the night, and was able to get the canopy up in the dry. Yet another new site for us, not as quiet as The Acorns but ok. Tawny Owl now calling just outside of the van so will see if I can spot it on our last walk out shortly.

Please don't get too uptight about this decrepit verdammt Bleep of a site ~~ others out there are quite appalling !! ( Honest
)Got time to book my Covid Booster so went in as soon as I was able.
Now I know Crewe and Nantwich aint much in the great scheme of things in this world, only about 80,000 or there abouts BUT I really did think I'd find a fairly local Covid Jabber to care for me but NO ! the nearest I found is in Silverdale on the edge of Newcastle under Lyme best part of 12 miles away Grrrr Logged on, filled out all spaces, and got a spot for 2.45 -- whoopee ! Hopped in the Ducato and away I did go only to find the appointment was actually for NEXT Monday 19th ~~ had a giggle with counter staff who agreed I should go back on line , cancel & rebook 'cos they would very likely be shut like three-quarters of Britain -- it's the day of Her Late Majesties Funeral !!
Got back home and rebooked, only to get a message on mobile telling me to book my flu jab on line but a different site ~~ too much to hope they could have got themselves organised -- wonder who they use to build their sites and would they be based somewhere we all know and dread hmmmm

Have Fun y'all

Last night's wandering about.

We got a text from our GP surgery asking us to ring a given number to book our covid and flu jabs. Took a while to get through as I got the message saying that the person I wanted to speak to was unavailable and to please leave a message but then when I tried to leave a message it said the messages were full and they couldn't accept any more! I sent a text message in reply and then got a call back from the surgery apologising profusely. They said it was an old telephone system and couldn't cope! I made appointments for both of us at a special clinic on Saturday 1st October. The NHS seems to be on it's knees. We go away the following Saturday so hope we don't get too bad a reaction to having them both at the same time.

Lucky you, Millie. A couple of weeks ago we both got texts from our surgery stressing we should not contact them about flu jabs till 15 October and covid till 12 September!

But by going direct to the NHS booking site I've got us both covid jabs next week at a local pharmacy and flu jabs at Lloyd's in Sainsburys 5 minutes walk from us for the start of October.
We would like to change surgeries if we had the chance, ours has outgrown itself and is still advertising to accept new patients - it's nigh on impossible to get an appointment as it is!

Fortunately we have our 2 jabs booked for when we arrive home. Very surprised at efficiency of system.
Had a wonderful cycle ride up Waskerley Way from Consett today. Fantastic weather for it, virtually windless with sun most of the way and when there was any breeze it had that autumnal nip in it. Not too busy either. Some photos enclosed for the ride and also from the other day's perambulation along Morecambe Prom on the bikes. The statues of the Cormorants was lovely to see.
Day off from the saddle tomorrow.

Thought I recognised those Cormorants, WN, and knew we'd not seen them "over there"! Glad that you have had good weather for your rides.
Nice day here in Shropshire, think that we have escaped the rain for a while. Had a good walk this morning around Corner Wood on Dudmaston estate before a visit to the hall. Most of the house was closed due to repairs, but did view exhibitions, in the galleries, of modern artwork. Then had a second walk around the estate grounds, down to the lake and through the gardens to see the sculptures in situ.

Have to say thanks to Moulesy who pointed me in the right direction for Covid jabs, have to say holiday bookings with CAMC are struggling and our local NHs no help but social information on here is good!! Now realised I've booked jabs just before OH"s birthday outing so need to change them in case we are floored yet again by the after effects...

We were also pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of the vaccination booking service. We received appointments in the post, but the dates were just before/ while we will be away, so we were able to follow the link in the letters and rebook on line, even with a choice of several nearby centres.
We will get both vaccinations at the same time, like last year, a week before we head off. Like brue, we are allowing time for any side effects, though we had none last year.

Oh KjellNN, thats cruel !! booking your vacc's with a choice of several nearby centres indeed

Got a phone call yesterday afternoon from the Chemist himself where I was booked and he was going to tell me to re-book 'cos they will be closed next Monday as I had already assumed. He admitted to being from Crewe*** , and could not understand why nowhere local was on the N.H.S. booking list.
Dammit, spoke to eldest nephew who at present, along with his sister, is looking after MY aged sister who is poorly, and asked if he had booked his mother's jab. Yes he said, I just walked into the Chemists in West Street and they gave him a time and date ~~ no faffing about with this on line C***, just get up close in person & get it done !! Grrrrrrrrrrr

*** I was a touch under-estimating the size of Crewe and Nantwich population though. It's rated as 111,000 at the latest count not the 70--80 thou I usually quote. That makes the lack of local Covid Jabbers on the NHS list even worse ~~ Double Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr &

Still very hot here and has been all week though it was cloudy this morning so that brought it down to just under 30. Classic view but I'm not sure why the do the cycle paths like this?
3 -
CS - I can't see a problem with the cycle lanes. At least there is demarcation between pedestrians and cyclists, or appear to be from your photo.
I notice you've left the Tyne and Wear area just as we arrived-again!

I'm getting a complex.Had a sort of day off today to give my energy levels a chance to fill up again. Food shopping this morning which will take us through until next Tuesday plus Mrs WN did a full clothes wash. This afternoon she walked down to the river Wear that runs right behind us and did an oil painting of the scene looking back up the river. She enjoyed the peace and quiet as there is only a few on site and they were out this afternoon.
Our Fiamma waste water container has had a malfunction. The lid disintegrated! Obviously sun stroke. Plan B in operation.

Glad your having a nice trip WN
We went up to Strathclyde Park club site late yesterday afternoon spent the night there then straight out on to the motorway this morning. Easy 3 hour tow down to Yorkshire great views as usual coming across the A66. Visited the farm shop near the site this afternoon and got some steak burgers that are now cooking on the CAdac weather showing ok for next few days we have a few things planned so hopefully get to fit everything in.
We have loved watching all the tributes to Her Majesty and we Scots gave her a great send off

You did indeed Francis, I thought of the song "My heart's in the Highlands."
Hope you're enjoying your farm shop food.
We are trying to tidy up our garden before going away for a short break, put out a box of Bramleys for passers-by.
Good to hear others are out and about.
Looks like the colander season is upon us with more holes in our arms!
OH and I now have four separate appointments trying to fit jabs in around other appointments and events.0 -
It's been another lovely warm and dry day here, though the wind has shifted now, coming from the North so a little cooler.
No jabs here, GPS not involved, can't book them at the chemist's. Only the NHS teams doing them, have to wait for a letter to be invited first, then if time and date not suitable we can amend online or by phone.
My sister and BIL are over 75 so have already got their letters and appointments for first week of Oct. We are just youngsters so wil have to wait a bit longer for ours. Makes no difference as we won't be back until early Dec.
Van almost finished just the fridge food to do and a few personal items. I've still to give OH his hair cut. Garden got its final tidy up today.
All those currently away WN, NTH, Francis have a good trip, all those due to go away safe journey.

Ta-dah!😁 Today we have been for a meal out, in a lovely pub, to celebrate my Sisters upcoming birthday. Haven’t been out all together (four of us) to a pub for a meal for ages, mainly due to having to protect OH and Mum. Had a lovely afternoon though, pub gave us a little one table room, and even the pooch was made very welcome. Did us all good.
Currently perusing some of the restrictions, cancellations, edicts, words of wisdom from various organisations around the National period of mourning, and in particular next Monday. Some are expected, others are baffling in certain aspects to be honest.
Hope those away, about to go away, are having an enjoyable time. Slight change in weather here now, dropping chilly in the evenings as we lose the light, but it’s been a nice bright warm day today. First evening with a jumper on tonight. We are contemplating a week touring somewhere. North Wales is favourite at the moment, but depends on weather forecast. Lots of options…….

Yes Francis you Scots certainly gave the Queen a wonderful send off and what a wonderful daughter Princess Anne is to be with her mother for the whole of her journey back to Buckingham Palace. I have enjoyed watching the whole of the journey but found the procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall this afternoon particularly moving. We certainly do these occasions so well.
Hope all those away and about to go away have wonderful trips. Enjoy your time near Richmond Francis
It has beem beautiful weather today but has gone very chilly this evening.

The BBC are currently live streaming the Lying in State from Westminster Hall for all those who cannot go in person. It’s very moving, all sorts of folks marking her passing in their own way. Wonderful building of course as well. Not sure when the Vigil of the Princes will take place.

We came across the A66 the other day Francis. It was a delightful drive as it was fairly quiet traffic. Same on the lovely A685 from Tebay to Brough. Actually enjoyed the drive. Have a good week down there in Richmond.
Tammy must be heading off tomorrow or Friday as well. So Bon Voyage to TG & DiverPhil.

Corners,
I think that the cycle track / foot way has to be done like that so the 'Lycra Louts' can ignore the 'Pedestrian Crossing'
Not blaming ALL cyclists { honest } just those who make a nuisance of themselves !! Any body travelling along the A534 from the border of Nantwich towards Crewe would get quite confused / dizzy from the continual " up kerb ~ along footway ~ down kerb ~ along road # up kerb ~ etc etc" of the cycle track. I think its all part of a cunning plan ** to keep filling incipient pot-holes with multi-layers of paint cos its cheaper than tarmac !!
** other types of plan are available, especially in Cheshire East !!

Good to hear you all enjoyed a meal out TDA I'm sure you found it uplifting to taste normality as well as the food.
I woke up this morning with amnesia about which day it was and which day we had been out of the house etc. All the effects of the recent week. We had been down to West Bay and neither of us could remember when...anyway it was last Friday and we bought some fresh fish! The fishing boats were in, OH fancied some Hake but the fishmonger cut the wrong fish so we had Ling instead....and that's about all we've done recently except for a pub meal for a family birthday and some music.
Bon voyage to the TGs the weather seems OK for most of us just now.

Right, had a day off so back on the bikes again. Managed about 20 miles but that will be it for a few days, until early next week hopefully.
The staff here on site have a caravan accessory shop so we went over to see if they had anything to replace our Fiamma waste water bucket with. They were extremely helpful and searched all over for a like for like replacement for the exploding lid. They also sell second hand waste masters, cleaned up obviously, and it looked like we were going to have to fork out for that but they found a cap off something else that nearly fits but will do the job. Top marks to them for effort.
A bit breezy up here today but mostly sunny. Some rain forecast for tonight but weather seems ok if a little windy for weekend.

Moving sites to Norfolk tomorrow, were going out for meal today ,but OHs electric scooter has failed,,it is still under warranty until next month, the dealer was about as much help as a chocolate fire guard not really interested unless we take it to them ,even importer does not deal with the public but when pushed came up with some Kymco dealers in Peterborogh and Norfolk, earliest possible date to have a look is next Tuesday with one in Cromer,so we are camper bound until then,
We were hoping to call at Sandringham on the way to our next site but without. OHs scooter that is now not on the agenda,,as cannot find any where to hire a wheel chair for a few days

We’ve had a great day today. We took a drive across to Thornton le Dale and visited Mathewsons now famous for the Bangers and Cash tv show we have been visiting for years and as usual they had plenty of interesting cars ended up buying a few bits of motor memorabilia. We then went to Pickering and spent a couple of hours walking around the town before heading up to The Fox and Rabbit for a drink the weather was nice enough for us to sit out in the beer garden great pub and great views one of our favourite places to go when in this area. Finished off the day with fish and chips and now just relaxing in the van. Weather looking ok for tomorrow too

Had a walk along Wenlock Edge today from NT carpark. Sent for a peep at what was the club's Presthope site, which is now a park home site, Presthope Grange. They certainly have opened up the old railway station, having removed many of the trees. Looking on it's web site at the cost it is no wonder that there are a lot of empty pitches awaiting purchasers!! The photos on the web site have obviously been doctored!!!
https://avon-estates.co.uk/presthope-grange/
Then we had a walk around Much Wenlock Priory before heading back to the van to get ready for our next move tomorrow....to a club site😮.
