I wonder if its not the electronics that is causing the problem? Many years ago I had a similar problem. What it was is that a dishwasher has a series of float chambers in the side of the machine which operate switches to allow the machine to move onto the next part of the programme. Over time these do get clogged up causing the problem you mention. Not for the faint hearted but I took mine apart and cleaned it with bleach and it was fine after that! Perhaps a local appliance man rather than a Miele man would be cheaper? Even for Miele £180 call out is on the high side, unless he is coming from Germany! Miele's are generally indestructible as they are so over engineered which makes me wonder if its the problem I mentioned.

Lovely to have the "Nellies" staying on site for a few nights as they pass south and we head north. They arrived yesterday afternoon and we had a local walk and a good blather before inspecting their new 'van, which suits them down to the ground. I still don't know how they managed to get all of their previous caravan's stuff packed into this slightly smaller unit.

Today was supposed to rain this afternoon so we had a walk with them this morning and this afternoon we all paid a visit to Leighton Hall (HHA), close by. All of us seem to enjoy the tour of the house (of Gillow furniture manufacturing fame). Amazingly it stayed dry and sunny but clouded over about 5 ish and we have just had a prolonged thunderstorm and it's still belting down.
Might have to swim across to their caravan for a beer and a natter. Been an enjoyable day all round, well up to now it has.

Enjoy your joint stay WN and Nellie.

Did another bit of blackberry picking today, they are very good even though they've been growing in such dry weather. Our cider apples aren't so good, the much favoured Kingston Black hasn't done well (the best cider apple in Somerset if you spot it in a bottle!) No apples at all on one tree and just a few Sweet Alfords...if you're in the area look out for ciders with named apples.🌝🍎🍏

And I can that has been an equally enjoyable evening too..
Great to meet up with both of you and we will have a final beer together tomorrow night before we go our separate ways. Thankfully the storm seems to have passed through as our final walk out was a dry one, after having got a bit of a soaking on our post dinner amble. Hope tomorrow is dry so that I can get my set footwear dried out.
Tda, enjoy your stay at Clumber, the race is bubbling up nicely after today's stage so you should see some interesting action.
Shame about you cider apple trees, brue, as further north there appears to be a plentiful supply. Thanks for the recommendation of which varieties to look out for. Hopefully we will get into cider country during our current trip.

I have 4 trees, Grenadier for the pies. Red falstaff(it’s going this year🙁) it’s not well. Red Devil, lovely pink blossom & my fave-Worcester Permain an old gardener gave it to me as it was his fave too. It is beaut a very olde English flavour, he told me it was a sport of the Pippin. We guard these jealously. Thank you Worcester for many years of joy👍🏻

Rocky the Worcester Permain is also one of my favourites but then I am a Worcestershire girl born in Evesham and prefer English apples to some of the French ones they do not have the same taste.
Went to visit Cordes-sur-Ciel yesterday and went on the Le petit train and had the longer route around and a few stops for photos and what a vehicle with three carriages and excellent driver needs a lot of patience to drive around some of the roads and over the cobbles in the village, took some photos but did not buy anything a bit too arty for us and expensive, off to Albi this afternoon.
Had a lovely meal with other folk at the site restaurant lovely food and a good evening with lots of laughs and the Dutch speak good English as the site is Dutch owned, even got Dutch with UK caravans and say they like them as the lay out is better.

Not as far as I know, I believe they are wanting to take their costs off their next rent payment, which I understand is not the way things should be done, unless the landlord agrees.
She is going to get advice on what is correct from her landlords' association. She may have to pay a reasonable amount in the end, but the main problem is they have not taken her advice to wait for the council pest control to get back to them, but engaged an expensive private company without her agreement, and purchased materials, which she could have given them from her store of stuff, again without consulting her, and are busy fixing bits of wood goodness knows where to cover places where they think a mouse could get in, again without giving her the chance to send me to do it sensibly.
They have not been in touch again since my last visit to sort the position of the fridge/freezer. It was full of ice, so I suggested they defrost it and see how it goes. If it really does not work properly, she will of course have to buy a new one.
Unfortunately they have "form" in not reporting a problem until it becomes massive, mainly as they were habitually behind with their rent. Last year she had to claim on her insurance for a complete new bathroom, including the walls and ceiling, as they did not report a problem with damp until the floor actually collapsed. The cause was a hole in a HW pipe made by the stupid builders having laid the floor over the pipe with inadequate support, and every time anyone walked on that area it compressed the pipe until it eventually buckled and gave way.
Pipe repair, £80, insurance claim, with alternative accommodation for a month, £10k.
She had been about to tell them that she was selling the flat, which means they will need to move out, but 2 days back the Scottish Gov announced there can be no evictions till next Spring, so not looking like she can sell now, though details of the eviction ban have not yet been finalised.
There is much discussion up here among landlords that some tenants will see this as a green light to just stop paying rent, as happened during Covid, so that is very worrying.

RK, is that the site I recommend awhile ago, we never ate in the restaurant but it seemed to be popular.

Hi TG yes it is the same site, a lot more Dutch arrived today and 1 German motor home, we are going to book the restaurant again for Friday night as menu looks good. The site is ok but the pitches are all soil no grass anywhere which is a shame and the main problem is insects that bite it is the most we have had this year and are painful got some anti bite cream today as OH. Is suffering more than me so have had to resort to sitting in the van which is not good, last day tomorrow as we leave Saturday to go to Carcassonne that will be an interesting drive down, weather cooler now 26C today but very little rain, hope you have a good holiday.
Sad news about the Queen R.I.P.

We have just returned from a few lovely days in the Lakes. Staying at our very favourite B&B in Beatrix Potter’s village. Wonderful views, such a beautiful place and we met some very nice people. Sadly OH cannot walk too far now but he seemed happy to sit on a bench while I walked around some of the Tarns, but my walks have been shortened since I was last there. Keswick was so very busy, with so many people accompanied by dogs.
Sad that we arrived back to hear such sad news. An amazing lady who kept her promise, working for us until two days before her death. Charles has a lot to live up to.

Oh sorry to hear that, when we were there the grass pitches were lovely, we were on one of the pitches that looked out on the garden opposite the house/restaurant and facilities. Do you think it's happened because of the hot weather you have had this year or over use. Hope the bites clear up for you and OH. Enjoy the rest of your trip and please leave some sun for our arrival 😊😊
More local flooding this morning first thing, lots of rain overnight again. Rivers no full to bursting. We did get a bit of clearer skies this afternoon for awhile but looks like more rain coming our way again.
Spent a couple of hours batch cooking this afternoon. Now all sat in trays cooling ready to go in the fridge/freezer. Pile of ironing to be done, job for tomorrow. Need a couple of dry days so I can cut the grass before we head off, with a bit of luck it won't need another after that.

Yes such sad news about the Queen. Life will never be quite the same again, she has been a constant in all our lives, but every good wish to our new King. It is all hands on deck at the Cathedral for the next 10 days as we are expecting hundreds of visitors to pay their respects and sign the Book of Remembrance.
We had our new Hive thermostat installed this morning. Such a nice friendly and very helpful guy. So far so good.
Went for afternoon tea at a friends this afternoon and had a nice meet up with friends we hadn't seen for quite a while. It was supposed to be in her garden but we had to retreat into her conservatory because of the thunderstorm and rain. She only lives about 5 miles away but when we got home we found we hadn't had a drop of rain. It is so localised.
On duty at the Cathedral tomorrow.

Left the WN's this morning so they will have a couple of day's peace and quiet before heading to their next port of call. Great to meet up with them again. Just hope they have no problems leaving the site before the banger racing begins!! Steady drive down to Cheshire, although the roads were busy in both directions. Pleasant, peaceful, wee CL adjacent to a no frills commercial site, which backs onto the Whitegate Way so grand for walking Flyte, away from any roads. There was some thunder over to the east but we only had some light rain after we had set up, and warm sunshine in the late afternoon.

Glad you made it safely Nellie. Thanks for the tour of the van, charges were a bit on the high side though.😁
Not sure if the Stock car racing on Sunday will still go ahead (they drive past the entrance of the site to get to the track folks). Mind you the cows are noisy tonight.
Had a pleasant walk around the bird reserve at Leighton Moss today. Very quiet, both people and bird wise.
Last day here tomorrow. Site full tonight.

Millie, I hope your cathedral duty goes well tomorrow. We were out this morning but got home to hear the muffled bell ringing coming from our church and other local villages. Isn't it sad how suddenly things can change.
Our local daughter and partner had asked us to have a meal out tonight so we met up at a pub not far away on a part of the old Fosse Way which is now a deep narrow lane and quite tricky to negotiate in the dark. A late birthday celebration for our daughter and no cooking which is always a treat.
Flu jab now booked plus dentist next week, not one of "my favourite things..."

Lovely day weather wise so we cycled down to Heysham, along the promenade at Morecambe. Fantastic views across the Bay.
Back home to take awning down.
We have our COVID booster and flu jabs booked for when we get home.
Been an enjoyable week here one way and another.

🙂 No rain today hooray, in fact it has been a lovely warm, sunny day.
More 'stuff' taken out to the MH, packed away, still plenty of space. I have even managed to get OH to do his clothes ☺️ now all packed away.
Good to hear the WNs and the Nellie's had another successful meet up 😊
Batch cooking I did yesterday all now frozen, this morning I made a big lasagne, still to cut it up and freeze as individual portions.
What to do tomorrow 🤔🤔

Ahhhhh!! What a pain this site has been. Just now finally lost the Essential Maintenance message.
We have had 2 good days walking from The Acorns CL along the Whitegate Way. Weather has been kind and OH was able to get washing done and dry today. However it is raining now, so last walk out looks as if it will be a set one. All ready to move on again tomorrow.

Utterly appalling site, my washing n drying was done last week so I've been at the mercy [!!] of Twaddle Maintenance & awful criket !! Dash it, now that I've actually got on here I've forgotten what to say

The one good thing I can say is that I have oodles of books to [re] read and freeview allows me to choose some channels + 1 hour so should I fall asleep, and I do
, it's not the end of the world { thanks to Wonder Woman et al }Hope you all have survived this past weekend in better humour than ABM !

Just looking in..suspect there'll be a bit more maintenance in store.

We went to a concert on Saturday evening, it started with God Save the King, this so flummoxed me to have the change of words from Queen to King that I forgot the rest, hope no-one noticed I just repeated the bits I knew. Had to go and look it up afterwards as both OH and I hadn't sung it for such a long time!
Now got to work out what to do as we have a site booked on the day of the Queen's funeral (which we want to see) there's no TV reception and poor wifi there so it's no good going a day early and we've paid up front....decisions....

Finally able to post. Traveled to Manchester in the rain but very hot here in Florence at 31C and these are just some photos around my growing up house.
1 -
brue, we will be on the road the day of the funeral. Birmingham area to Dover, not a lot we can do about it as we are catching the tunnel.
Finally got on CT, couldn't get on last night.
Website is diabolical can't do anything, tried checking the one booking we have but no can't do that. I do have a confirmation email though.
1 -
.... it will certainly be difficult to sing the 'king' after having sung 'queen' for as long as we can remember. We did the National Anthem on Sunday and had to remind the choir to concentrate carefully on the words... fortunately, I think we all got it right.
We also have the same decision to make about being out and about on the day of the funeral.

What a (predictable) shambles this site has been.
Still, we are well ensconced on an independent site in the North East after a very easy and trouble free drive over from the North West on Sunday, except for the first 400 yards of getting off the site and onto a proper road, due to the constant traffic of Stock Car contestants arriving down the narrow lane to the track.
Had a lovely cycle ride today and due to have another tomorrow as forecast good.
Hope all are well.

Look who visited our bird feeders today!
Glad to hear the WNs and the nellies had a good meet up and that the rest of their trips are going well. Hope your trip to France goes well TG and that you resolve your dilema about Monday. The Cathedral are going to live stream the funeral for those who want to watch it there but I think we prefer to watch it at home in peace and quiet.
What a disaster this site is 😡
