Afternoon
The Clachan site will be a trial for the rest of this season and next. Next year will also see a couple more sites in the trial.
Who knows, before we know it we'll have metered electric

The difficulty with recruitment is part of the reason for the trial at clachan site it will help run some less used sites that are in close proximity of busier sites that can send staff to monitor and maintain them
The site JK is on is another that has already in the past been looked at for the same reason

That’s good JK👍 Anything that gets folks in that bit quicker.
I am home alone here, apart from pooch. OH has just been picked up to go to football match. Free ticket, will do him good👍

It's unlike you not to be the first to bring us the news, JV😀. I’m shocked😱

Just to say, re laptops etc we've never had any Apple products and have been happy with the many alternatives. I've got an old Dell laptop that's now very slow so I'm going over to my new one soon (ha ha I just can't let it go.
) My new one is available at Curry's but we found one for half the price on ebay. Hope Millie's had some luck finding a new laptop. 0 -
Yes, the spare ticket came from him, I'm told he is "depping in a Ska band" (missing trumpet player!) It's often all go musically in this part of the family, another session on Monday which will be "cow punk "

It's very warm and dry here, the GDSF must be throwing up a lot of dust.

Evening
Apologies to the regular users of this thread, I just need to set the record straight. The trial at Clachan and others next year has absolutely nothing to do with current and future staffing levels. It might be strange to some but some people will realise this is a move forwards, a big move but if it goes well it will make the arrival process on sites a seemless process. It's been said many times on here, it works fine over there, which as a regular over there traveller will agree to.
My site as it goes is Ifracombe CAMC club campsite. As a previously underperforming site it would never be looked at as jvb suggests, it would be for sale first. Thankfully staycation and some graft we've managed to make it earn it's keep. Service point sites are ever popular, long may they continue

Laptop bought and son has set it all up for me. I bought an HP Intel Gold Processor 7505 and so far I am very pleased with it. I am busy playing with it as we speak

Excellent Millie 👍 Hope it does the job for you.
Good post JK. Not that we ever doubt your info…..😉😂
Is everyone sat down? ……………………….
I have just booked a Club Site🤣 (only because I can cancel it if needed, no deposit, give 72 hours notice. It’s a back up plan)

Do Microsoft phones and Pads link information in a similar manner? I don’t know much about them. We have a new Smart TV that is Microsoft. It’s close to getting the remote thrown at it every night🤬 I know the issues will be ours, but it’s easier to go look at the old TV🤣
Easy enough to do using gmail. If I log onto my gmail account on my PC it will show me diary entries from my Android phone. I suppose it would do the same on my Samsung Tablet. Many people now use WhatsApp on their Android and Apple phones for live communication so no need to have Facetime as it communicates with all. I don't know whether its a peculiarly British thing but worldwide Windows and particularly Android outnumber Apple products by substantial amounts. Is your TV Android rather than Windows? We have a Sony Smart TV which has an Android system. It can be a bit slow but it generally works OK but I put that down to them not using the best processors in a TV that you might find in a computer?

I think you will get on with it fine.

Just a heads up here.
A lot of discussion about UK sites which should be more properly addressed in the UK Campsite and Touring section. More than happy for someone to start new new thread on the ANPR system in that section but this is not the right place for this discussion particularly as it is an important change and there maybe many members that don't visit this section of the forum.
Thanks

Thanks DK, we don’t bother with FaceTime, but do use WhatsApp.
Yes, our new TV is Sony Android (not Microsoft) It’s not user friendly as far as we are concerned, unlike our old Samsung. Very slow, and it’s not an intuitive set up, we fumble around trying to do things. Buttons on remote are for baby fingers as well, so tiny. I suppose we will get used to it. It was talking us through all blasted channels last night, one of us must have hit a wrong button🤨0 -
Thanks as well Tinny, I did think it likely. Long, long time since I used Microsoft, don’t do much on a big screen nowadays, but got on well with our Dell, pre buying the MacBook. I have just realised that is around eight years old now, seldom gets used. I think changing my avatar for here was last time it came out😂

I've already apologised for "invading" this thread DK. As you know I felt I needed to respond to false information by another poster. Really no need to warn posters off in my opinion.

I’m not a huge fan of the newer Windows systems. I think they’ve made it unnecessarily complicated in an effort to follow Apple. We bought a W10 lappy a few years ago when they said W10 would be the last version of their OS with updates on that in future instead of new versions. Then along came W11 which supposedly our lappy won’t run🙄
We've got an LG TV like that. Far from user friendly with an almost uncontrollable floating mouse. It narrates programs to us too if we hit a wrong button and the on/off is buried deep in the sound settings. We exchange a few choice words with it at times🤣

There must be a lot of ‘invaders’ JK because if you go back some pages the topics are many & varied. I can’t see-‘what are you all up to’ being a specific subject or a one theme thread🤷🏻♂️

This is going to sound strange but we tend only to use the TV for catch up tv where we need to internet as I have a wired connection (ethernet) directly into the TV. When watching normal TV we tend to do that via our Humax box as we will often record programmes so we can skip through the adverts. We don't find the Humax particularly reliable and usually have reboot almost every day. That might not be the fault of the Humax as I am not convinced we get a strong enough signal via our aerial which I think upsets the electronic tv guide which in terms prevents programmes recording. We also have a satellite dish via another Humax PVR but for some reason I can't find a way of turning the power saving completely off. And, of course the two Humax boxes clash with each other!!! I am sure it was easier with just 4 channels!
As far as Windows is, I am yet to move up to version 11, I will await my direction from my local IT Consultant (number 2 son) I have quite a few legacy programs that happily run on the latest version of Windows so don't need to buy new and could be an issue if you changed to the Apple system or vice versa. When I got my current desktop two years ago I splashed out of the full Microsoft Office Suite as I do a lot of word processing and spreadsheets. It also included Outlook their email client which did take a bit of getting used to. I suppose we all get used to what we get used to!!!
