What are you all up to

Pouring down here, it always sounds worse on the caravan roof though. Taking a quick break from packing up for winter and to go home. Hoping for just one more visit this season. Kids won’t be coming again this year so spare room duvets and pillows all now in suck down bags, they usually manage to ‘blow’ back up but it does stop them getting damp.
I feel very sorry for people who can’t remember their grandparents, they are some of my most happy memories. Maternal grandparent were the kindest most loving couple, who adored all their grandchildren. Poor as church mice but rich with love. We saw them very regularly. Gran was a cook, I remember feeling grown up as I was always allowed to make the mint sauce, and stir the filling for the lemon meringue. Grandad grew prize dahlias and I used to water them for him. Admittedly not so keen on the big spiders in their outside loo, or the cut up newspapers used as toilet paper. But mostly I remember the love and cuddles. They have been my role model for how to grandparent. I just hope that our grandchildren remember us so fondly.

My maternal grandparents were lovely, as you say DEBSC, rich in love. They didn’t live far away, so we saw them regularly, had holidays with them, occasional stop over while they babysitted. I have some of my Nan’s jewellery, and some gardening tools and Gardening prize certificates from Pop. Dad’s Mum was killed in the War, he was only 14. Grandad brought him up, sadly passed away quite young, so I never knew him.

It's a sad reflection on the current state of things and I don't imagine it's going to improve anytime soon! Good that you seem to have your Doctor on side so fingers crossed he can sort something out.

Hope your doctor is able to sort something out for your OH, JVB.
Hope your M/H got through its MOT, tda.
Sorry to read about your not being able to attend the concerts, Goldie, and best of luck with getting the tickets sold. They are the type of musicians I would love to see, but we don't know where we are likely to be so can't honestly inquire about the tickets.
What a day weather wise!!😖 It has rained heavily from us getting up, and was so heavy when we intended packing up we had to delay for quite a while, and even then I got rather damp when emptying the elsan. It did stop raining about half way through our journey and we arrived at be club's Notgrove/Bourbon site and got set up in the dry. It has rained heavily off and on since then, but I did manage a reasonably dry short walk around 4:00. Chucking it down again now though. Surprisingly the Site is not half full, and quite a number of the units are on seasonal pitches so could well be unoccupied.

🤩 MH passed MOT, no problems, so another year of touring to look forward to again. Domestic chores day today for us, house tidying, shop in Tesco. It looked like a Russian supermarket in there, never seen such empty shelves🤷♀️
Enjoy Notgrove Nellie, nice little Site. If you are out close to Moreton, take a look at that lovely CL we used, just outside. Very nice. Pebbly Barn Farm, under Moreton.👍

Glad folks enjoying their breaks away.
A lot of extra household chores yesterday so a quieter day here just been redoing my lavender sachets and enough lavender for a friend when we catch up next, all lavender from my garden and was dried out before we went away but busy with other things.
Weather lovely today and did manage to get to 26.1C as forecast was 26C today and for a few more days so next week will be busy in the garden before weather changes.
We also like Notgrove Nellie a long time since we have been there.
Glad MH passed its MOT Tda and supermarkets here have gaps on the shelves as well.

Doc says it is mostly down to the severe staff shortages that are causing most problems in the NHS
Notgrove used to close first weekend in October but then the season was extended to cater for school half term as it was not likely to have children and teachers were regularly visitors

Good to hear folk still out and enjoying their trips.
We are currently at Benicarlo, been here a week now, giving OHs pulled muscle in his back, a chance to recover before heading further south. We have plenty of time so best to give it time to fully recover.
Weather still good 26c light cloud and sun. During the week the workmen were cutting the sites trees back for the winter season. What a difference it makes.
Cycled along the beach front to Peniscola this afternoon. Round trip of 10 miles, OH managed that fine, so we are getting there.
Doesn't appear to be any shortages of food in the shops here, though the prices have gone up a lot since last year. Spain is not cheap anymore.
Stay safe all.

It closes on Tuesday, JVB, so isn't open for the full half term week, but it is no more than half full tonight. Perhaps if had been open all week there may have been more likely to book on here. I guess it's lenght of opening could be dependent on the lease?🤔

Good to hear that the M/H passed it's MOT, tda, and you can enjoy another year's touring next year. Might not get to Moreton, but if we do there are a couple of CLs we might just have a look at, although I see Pebbly Barn has bumped up his prices a fair amount.
Weather was much improved this morning, with sunshine and a gentle breeze, so OH was able to get some washing done and out on the airer before we went on our walk. We did about 6.5 mls from the site through Salperton to Hazleton and a loop back. The shooters were out in force, with lots of bangs not too far from our walk. Got back to the site just before we had a shower of rain so were able to get the washing in dry. Raining heavier now and forecast for tomorrow isn't promising.😞

Well I hope it is Tuesday as we are booked in until then and have paid for the 4 nights. Perhaps it's another of the club's money making schemes, getting us to pay for four and chucking us off after 3 without any recompense.😀

It’s closing slightly early then this year Nellie. We were last at Notgrove in 2018, our last but one night after touring SW (the year we saw you), we were one of only two outfits on the Site (other than staff) Very end of October, and I recall it well because the dog bowl we left outside was iced up. Checking back via photos, it was probably around 28/29th October. Nice site.

We left home late yesterday afternoon and stayed at Strathclyde Park club site for the night then made our way over to Berwick this morning. Easy two hour tow although the weather was atrocious all the way to Edinburgh heavy rain so not the most relaxing conditions for towing but once we got in to the A1 it brightened up. All set up here now with a great view as usual. Hoping for a relaxing break.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Nth I see that Notgrove is open until 31st October next year and as JVB said it used to close earlier in the month when we used to go there about 12 years ago gosh time flies.
A dull and windy morning here but warm outside a possible storm later depends on which weather website you look at even the one on top of the microwave is different and the one on the iPad says no rain for the next 10 days hmm, back to seaweed outside.
Did have a look the other day to see if any sites open locally all year only 1 came up just north of Cahors and there used to be a couple at Rocamadour but now closing in the next two weeks after school holidays, will try a different area but no too far to go some we know but much further away than we want.

It seems that everyone is having this horrid weather. I hope all those away are managing to stay dry one way or another. I did a ground floor tour of the Cathedral yesterday morning - the first for a while as they kept getting cancelled because of various events so it made a nice change. The weather was so lovely yesterday - a brief lull - so we spent the afternoon out in the garden cutting back and general tidying. OH even managed the cut the grass. The bit at the bottom of the garden will have to wait awhile as it was still too wet. It is teaming with rain again today and forecast to last most of the day
.I rang our GP surgery first thing Friday morning as I feel that my ears are blocked again and I wanted to see the nurse. I was told they were only doing emergency appointments that day but were teaming up with 'Doctors behind closed doors' for a coupe of weeks and did I want a face to face appt with a doctor than would be recorded and and filmed on Monday? As it was nothing too personal or private I said 'yes' . Now I am wondering what I have let myself in for
. Has anyone watched the programme?I hope that Helen and Trevor are having a good weekend away despite the weather. Hopefully they got the sun yesterday.

We’ve had a good day today we headed south this morning and had a lovely couple of hours in Whitley Bay a place we had only every driven through so it was nice to have a walk around loved the bit where they have some of Mark Knopflerrs lyrics on the ground. It rained most of the time but we still enjoyed it then had a fish supper for lunch. Now back at the site and it’s pouring and foggy.

I don't know the programme Millie, but a few years back I agreed to be filmed at our surgery for a trainee GP. So that the team could see how she was doing meeting patients etc. Half way through I wasn't keen on the idea, it wasn't very natural, I felt we were both acting and I didn't actually get sorted medically wise! So I'd be super cautious offering again. I presume you might be on national TV?! Mine was just in house.

Grrrrr😡 One of those days. Had a trip up to Harrogate planned for a week or so, to go to an event at the Great Yorkshire Showground. Checked this morning to see all still on, yes says the website, so MH packed for day out, shuffled vehicles around and set off in torrential rain, so not a pleasant drive to get to Harrogate via A1. Got there to find ourselves amongst lots of other folks, only to find that the event had been cancelled🤷♀️ Some folks had done a three hour drive to get there, and with price of fuel, not a cheap run. We made best of things by diving into Fodder for things for lunch, walked pooch, and then had a pleasant drive home, but so frustrating. The event organisers are going to be inundated with some very displeased folks tomorrow. How hard hard is it (providing you’re not the CAMC) to amend a website🤷♀️
Back home now, stove laid, MH parked up and sorted.

We are now home from our final trip this year.
We took over the van from DD and family yesterday. We had lunch together then they departed. SIL has absolutely no patience, so he was agitating to leave almost before we had finished lunch!
DD was not impressed! But she is used to it. OH said she would have had stern words with him if he was her OH! I can see that maybe happening in the future.
So we were left with the clearing up......OH washed dishes etc while I started packing up the tables etc in the awning.
The weather was poor, so the awning was wet, we managed to get it down without getting soaked, but it is dirty and very wet. We will take it to DD's, put it over her washing twirly, hose it down, and hope we get a dry day so we get it 100% dry.
The pitches at the holiday park were not so good, very fine red gravel, gets into everything, not so impressed!
We were home before 13.00, had lunch, then later DD and children came up to fetch their frozen food and other things they had forgotten.
Callum "helped" me to move the caravan onto the driveway, DD and Nathan helped too, then DD packed her stuff and headed home.
We will see them again on Wednesday when we are back into our normal timetable.

So it's a week earlier this year, and we may be the last unit on the site as we won't be leaving till around 11:45 as we are going to a CL near Pershore and can't get on there till 12:30. That is if it isn't flooded following all the rain over the last few days.

In the Site Directory it is showing a closure date of 26th Oct for last year, which was also a Tuesday, so I guess it generally close on the last Tuesday in October. In 2018, re tda's visit the last Tuesday was 30th, which ties in with her post above.

We weren’t hurried off Nellie, staff are around doing all sorts of things for a good week or so putting Sites to bed I think. We were last of Garlieston a long time ago, spent a good half hour talking to staff that morning😁 Hope you get a good journey.

Kjell, sorry to hear that you were not impressed with the Site at Elie. We have not stopped there, just walked through it on our wanders from Monturpie and it looked a pleasant place. Sorry if I misled you with my impression of it. Hope you get a dry period to get the awing dried out fully.
Tda sorry to hear of your wasted journey, especially in the weather as it is at the moment.
It has been a long while since we visited Whitley Bay so must get back there sometime in the not too distant future. As a kid, many many years ago, our family would visit there, from Consett, but I'm not sure how we got there, as it was well before my dad was able to drive, so train I suppose. Glad you had a pleasant if damp day there, Francis.
We've had mixed weather today after heavy rain through the night. I was able to get a couple of walks in before lunch between showers, but then the sun came out and we did a circular walk above Guiting Power through and around the Farmcote Estate. More rain this evening but it is dry at the present.

Wow, Kj, I don’t think I’d post about my family in that manner on a public forum 😱
