No worries nellie,  it was indeed a pleasant place.   I think it was  the weather that was the problem.  We/they had mainly wet and windy weather, only one proper sunny day.

However, though the toilets and showers looked lovely (we did not really try them) DD said the water pressure was poor and the temperature too high to stand the children under the shower.

They have been used to serviced pitches the last couple of years, and using the shower etc in the van, so site facilities and fetching and disposing of water have come as a bit of a shock!

She also said that they had not realised just how remote it was from anywhere where there were indoor activities.  However it was an adventure for the children, certainly Callum said he had enjoyed himself.

The long hot Summer is finally gone & the garden is sighing with relief. The water butts are nicely filling. Tree seeds in the root trainers & have their Autumn/Winter positions-nice👍🏻

I'm not a regular frequenter of club sites but with the shorter days, I thought Morn Hill for a few days round Winchester might be a good idea. Having done a major refurb including the installation of a substantial number of HS, I was surprised to find that they are still closing at the end of the month. How does CAMC expect to get a return on the investment if they don't utilise the improved durability of the site?

If as I have been informed the very problematic staff shortages with site staff I would think there would as others  sites this winter be a real problem getting cover

The web page for Morn Hill says that it is open all year. My understanding is that the lower section, with the hardstandings, will remain open all year but the higher section with predominantly grass pitches will close over winter.

Had a good day today we ended up taking a drive down to Seahouses a place we always like to visit. It was very busy and there were a few boat trips leaving from the harbour. After that we drove back towards Berwick and had a nice meal at The Lindisfarne Inn just off the A1 that’s the second time we’ve eaten there and both times the meals were lovely recommended for anyone in the area. We then went in to Berwick and has a nice walk along the sea wall out to the lighthouse that certainly blew the cobwebs away. Back at the van now and it’s just about to get dark

Just had a look at Morn Hill and it is open this winter some days are full.

Some gardening done after visiting friends for a coffee, a lovely day upto 22.4C and very little wind although there was a storm with a small tornado which damaged houses in Northern France.

After leaving our friends went to our local Pharmacie to find out re flu jabs and will be available from 1st November so back there again next week as walk in only and they are not doing covid jabs this time either so our friends will have to look elsewhere, we are due our 5th 3rd week of January 2023 so will book an appointment nearer the time.

Moved sites today further south. Now in the Denia area, from the sites beach we can see the rock at Calpe looking one way and the other up to Ghandia. Good drive down but very hazy until we got here where the sun had burnt through and we had blue skies 28c, so pretty warm.  Glad we are missing all the wet weather 😉

OHs back is still not great but he is fine riding his bike opposed to walking, he was OK driving as well until he had to reach down to release the handbrake 😯

Francis we love it around that area, always find something to do and somewhere to go.

TDA, sorry you had a wasted journey, very annoying.

That’s a good recommend👍 I think it is in the Britstop book, so a possible stopover venue for us if going further North. Love Berwick.

Good to read that others that are away are having a good time, with pleasant weather, especially those that are "over there".😀

More rain in the night but a fine day. Plenty of shortish walks after calling in at Stow for bread etc. One from Lower to Upper Swell, a second from and around Upper Slaughter and another at Lower Slaughter. The colour of the trees, especially the Acers, London Plane Trees, Field Maples, Beeches and Chestnuts, are as varied, colourful and as bright as we have every seen, and lots of bright red berries on the Guilder Roses and the Spindle trees.

Creak creak creak  groan surprised  !!

Decided to clear the living room and give it a thorough dysonning and wished I hadnt bothered !  Moved out every thing on legs  ( self included !) whilst charging t'battery ! Thorough job done followed by the day's mistake in re-arranging the seating so now feeling a shade shattered . None of this was helped by deciding to sit down on the recliner settee having got it neatly lined up between the magazines and similar racks and nicely under the repositioned reading lamps. Got the shock of a lifetime when I realised that the seats are still just as firm as when they were bought, unlike the single seater recliner which has been fully trained to be veeery soft by the weight of you-know-who embarassed.  Still at least I was able to enjoy a repeat of music by the " Man from Maastrict " Andre Rieu without too much discomfort !!  Now I'll just have to be a tad more circumspect in collapsing in a heap for a snooze !!

Hope you lot are  all dusted, polished and still nice & comfy  smile

When I went to book, it appeared to stop at the end of October, with no November calendar appearing. Perhaps it was just the rubbish booking site pages. Anyway, CAMC's loss.

We are now home after an excellent 4 night break at Berwick Seaview club site. Weather wasn’t great but we had a good time a highlight being a visit to Whitely Bay which was good a place we plan to return to for a proper look round hopefully in better weather. Also visited Seahouses which was good too and had a lovely meal at the Lindisfarne Inn. Only home for a couple of days then we are off again at the weekend just for a couple of nights at one of our local sites. Volvo booked in to the specialist in Glasgow next week as when we were away had a ABS warning light come on and it won’t go off they reckon it’s maybe just a sensor hoping that’s the case don’t want a big bill. It’s been a great car and has been excellent tow car over the last 5 years towing our van many thousands of miles but it’s 13 years old now so we are thinking of maybe replacing it before next summer  no rush but we will keep our eyes open will do some research and pick carefully

I have been busy, yesterday and today, turning some additional wooden stuff to take to try to sell at this craft fair on the 13th.  Also emptying the car after our return home on Sunday, and refitting the 2 child seats as we resume grandparent duties tomorrow.

The awning was soaking, still is, and very muddy in places, so plan to take it to DD's, put it over her washing twirly, hose it down and hopefully get it dry........eventually.  It is far too wet, and muddy, to bring into our sun room to dry off.

Six monthly vet check up in Sheffield for us today. All is fine, wallet significantly lighter, but he’s worth it. Then out into Peak District for a meal at one of our favourite pubs, Fox House near Hathersage. Dog friendly, almost every table had a dog underneath it, all behaving very well.

We arrived home yesterday afternoon after a few days away in Shropshire. The weather was a bit mixed but we still managed to visit Ironbridge, including a walk along the river Severn and We spent a lovely day at NT Attingham Park, although the deer were being a bit elusive.  Really enjoyed the break, just what I needed.🙂

Back to work today, and tomorrow we both have our flu jabs at lunchtime.

Good to read that the hound has pass this 6 monthly checkup, tda, and that you had a good day out.

Hope you get a few dry days,Kjell, and get the awning dried out. Not good having to put it away wet.

Francis, hope you are able to get the Volvo repaired and that it doesn't cost too much, as parts for them don't come cheap, as I know.

We move just 30 mls up the road today, but a totally different area, there's not the gorgeous colours down below the Cotswold Escarpment that dominated the scenery at our last location. We are now on a CL right beside the R.Avon at Wyre Piddle. The site is full and in the field adjacent is a rally of nearly 20 units. Considering the amount of rain we have had over the last week the ground is still reasonably hard. The site is on grass but has full serviced pitches and free wifi, but no toilet block,  and is good value at £17:50 pn, I think.

It looks as if Margaret's use of the blood sugar monitor, which I mentioned a while ago,  on her arm is coming to an end. She may have been offered false hope when she started using them because it was inferred that all insulin dependant Type 2 diabetics would be entitled to them on the NHS. It seems the Diabetic Nurse was using the monitors over a short period to access how well controlled an individuals control over their blood sugar levels were. As it happens Margaret's control is pretty good and only the occasional alarm that blood sugar levels are falling to a dangerous level. (with the monitor if the sugar level falls it sets off an alarm on the phone warning you to take action) So Margaret won't be getting the monitors prescribed which is a different outcome to what she was lead to believe would happen. She could buy them herself but at £120 for a months supply that is a fair old chunk out of her pension! So it looks as if its back to finger pricks the old fashioned way!

Sorry to hear that David, especially as it replaced something less agreeable.

We have been thwarted by Covid  we're on a site where we should have seen the family but Covid has struck them. We might see one of them but it's not the same and can't see our eldest daughter etc. Too late to change booking and lose deposits etc but we are moving on soon. Wondering if we'll get to see our friends en route for the next place, a lot of Covid around!

Hope everyone on here is doing better. smile

Last year we were on the same CL you are on Nellie, hope it's going well, the pub is good!

Listening to radio tonight, no TV reception, we had forgotten that bit no family, no TV....frownwink

Thanks, brue, might pop in before we leave, as it is only a short stay for us here. Quite a change over today with 4 units going and another 2 arriving, even a few units have gone from the rally too. Sorry to hear that you will not be meeting up with all your family as planned. Hope you can at least  meet one of them, and that you don't contract the virus.

Good day out after some rain in the night. Went to one of our favourite N/T properties today, Croome Court, where we had a walk round the grounds before lunch and then through the house afterwards. The current exhibition is about Ted Deerhurst, the surfing aristocrat. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/croome/features/surf-sweat-and-tears-the-life-of-ted-deerhurst-exhibition

Awful news for your Good Lady, David !!  It seems that there are several totally different cases of Left Hands not knowing that Right hands even exist these days.

I've no real inclination to go down the " Sugar Monitor " route myself  I much prefer to self--regulate as seems wisest at any given time since I have a poorish record of control over several years.  I am endeavouring to work my way down Insulin dosage but it can be a minefield this way but what it would be like using the monitors l dread to think  surprisedembarassed.

Just one thought ~~  Have you had any contact with Diabetes U.K. at all  ??  They might have information about availability of these items that just does not get generally made public.

Still  ##  Jab in the old fashioned way ##  wink

Not a bad day today weather wise, sunny and breezy from mid morning.

Took the awning to DD's house, draped it over her twirly and hosed the mud off, so it is  now clean enough and dry enough to be spread out to finish drying in our sun room.

Delivery from Screwfix of 3 radiators, one for our next  bathroom, and 2 for the guide hall, plus 14 new TRVs so I can also change all the old ones that are starting to fail, that will keep me busy.2

OH did shopping for us, and for DD, as she had a full day of meetings with her project team.    Later the boys  had me out playing in the garden as it was sunny, so I will sleep well tonight!

Another day of child minding tomorrow, then back to my lathe on Friday.

    Brian

I have read the Diabetics UK page on the subject of insulin monitors. One option is the write the the local Care Commissioning Group to see what their policy is on the issue. Margaret is not so bothered about going back to manually taking her blood sugar levels but its just so annoying that there is a simple and reliable system available but at a cost. Doubly annoying is that there seems to be no price competition on the sensors so even buying two months worth is no cheaper than buying one sensor. I also think that Margaret was led up the garden path abit about it becoming a permanent way of measuring her blood sugar levels. Perhaps it was a clever ploy by her diabetic nurse, who is new and much younger, to access all her patients and then divide them into managing and not managing. I can see the sense in that but I just think it should have been made clearer to start with that it was only trial and it is always possible that Margaret missed that nuance?

We reached the Cape of Good Hope today, it's actually a pub on the Grand Union Canal worth a visit if you're in the Warwick area. Nice watching people on the barges, not far from the big flight of locks at Hatton Locks and probably a relief for those who've just left them.

Big shopping day for us so into Evesham we went, and did the round, Lidl, Aldi and Homebargains. Then a walk along the riverside path after lunch. Weather was dry but cloudy, as in brue's photos, but still very warm for the time of year, 18C, and steamy with it.

We both had our Flu jabs yesterday at our surgery. They always seem to be quite late in getting the vaccine in for some reason. We got chatting to the nurse who we had not seen before and COVID vaccinations came up in the conversation. Apparently she has a certificate awarded for having given 50,000 COVID vaccinations which is some going!
