When we had our covid injection curtacy of the senior nurse at the Queengate centre at Peterborough the injectionist was being backed up by a loader who was filling the applicators in the same cubicle , it was a bit crowded

Another fine day and yet another visit to a NT property, this time one that we can't remember ever having visited. Any know from the photos where we went?

I know this one Nellie😁 Coughton Court, home I think,of the Catholic Throckmorton’s? We bought our MH just down the road, took it for a pre buy spin round the outside of CC. Been round the garden’s, but didn’t do the house (which looks very interesting) as we were on our way elsewhere and pushed for time.

Spot on tda. The inside of the house is a bit of a mishmash, not up to the usual standards of the Trust we thought. The room guides however were very knowledgeable, unfortunately the place was busy it being the end of the school holidays, so we felt a bit pushed round. It is unusual having two churches in the grounds, as the older one had to change to C of E and is then not allowed to revert of a Catholic one, so they built a second, Catholic Church, in the 1800's. It is too late in the season to fully appreciate the gardens but they must look great earlier in the Summer.
Last night at Avon Bank before we head further north, slowly making our journey home.

Nellie, I sat for a while looking at your photo, knowing that I’d been there more than once but still couldn’t place it, so thanks for the answer TTD.
Oh it’s that time of year again! A day in the garden tidying and raking the leaves🍁. Seven big tubs full to be precise. OH put his head out of the door saying,’that’s a waste of time, it will look the same tomorrow’ looking up at the oaks in the woods, still covered in leaves, of course he’s right but I have to make a start. I wouldn’t mind so much if they were crisp, but with the sun now well behind the trees and not getting on our garden they are all soggy wet. I tried once to make some into the nice rich mulch that Monty Don suggested but they never changed from a slimy mess. Ah well only about another million to rake up as they fall.

A great evening out at Fountains Abbey near Ripon. Very atmospheric with music playing. It's on over the weekend but you have to book.

Similar day for me Debsc😁 We have Beech trees. When I glanced out of window yesterday morning, breeze was fetching down golden snowstorm of beech leaves. I cheated though, used lawn mower as a giant hoover to cut grass and suck up leaves on there. Worked a treat. Had to gently rake the barked areas though. Weeks of falling leaves to go though yet.
Hoping to get Mum’s house ready for new boiler going in today. Dreading it as she’s not good outside of a routine now. Ideally, it would be best to get her out of house for a few days, but she won’t cope with this, so need to make another plan.🤔
Started three new cycle challenges yesterday. Completed two sections of one, only 15 miles to go on first one. Other two start 7th November, routes in Europe and North America. OH is touring Australia, too long for me though. Ride I did yesterday had an average gradient of 13%. No ebikes and batteries either, it’s just pedal, pedal all the way.

Blimey, TtDA, That seems TOOOO serious for Ole Brian
The only real pedalling I do these days { Apart from Clutch - Brake - Accelerator
} is when I'm forced into using the exercise bike in order to shift those blasted cobwebs again !! Well as others have commented 'tis that time of year again !

Every little helps ABM😁 I f I could harness OH up to National Grid, we could power our house🤣 Might get the pooch a treadmill, he could do with earning his keep after two vet bills this week😱🤣

Nice surprise in the post today, we received notification of our Winter Fuel Payment, £250 each! When you add up the financial support offered by the Government this year it seems quite generous? Mainly of course because we have essentially had a double dose of support under two administrations. The letter does point out that this increase in the Winter Fuel Payment is only for 2022. Assuming we have a more stable political situation for next year I doubt things will be so generous but hopefully by then the price of energy will have stabilised or even reduce so perhaps not so much need for support?

Lovely weather here 28.2C recorded on weather station but from Tuesday getting cooler and maybe some rain, just had at last year and it was 17.1C same day as today.
Had a go with my small battery mower to collect leaves under our largest Oak tree and worked very well but a lot more to come down and leaves now in new compost bin all chopped up.
Enjoy your breaks folks that are away.

We 'cheated' as well tda and used the lawn mower as a giant vacuum cleaner as it was quicker and easier. We have tried making leaf mold in the past without much success. We watched how Monty did it on GW last night but I don't know whether we will bother again.
Usual sort of week for me this week. Busy day at the Cathedral on Tuesday as it is half term here so quite a few children's events on. Our eldest grand-daughter and great grandson came over on Thursday afternoon so we had a fun afternoon with them. Other than that I have been getting ready for family visit from N Ireland next week (their half term) so we are looking forward to seeing them.
So sorry to hear that brue has been unable to see her family as planned because of covid. Quite a few people seem to be going down with it at the moment sadly. I hope all those who are eligible are getting their jab.
It is slightly damp here at the moment but very mild - 21 degrees - which is helping with the heating bills. Have a nice weekend everyone and take care.

Thanks Millie, we have left the sick and ill behind today and arrived at a canal CL en route for the lakes. We called in to see friends who'd moved to N Birmingham from a nice village in Wilts to be nearer their family. We had a get together and they helped us to get back on the M6 following their car. As all laws work we still went the wrong way! It's an awful area to negotiate between the toll road and the non toll. Unrecognisable to us from years ago. Satnav would have opted for the toll road.
DavidK I'm always pleased when the government returns some of our hard earned cash but I think we'll be giving some of it back next year....

(Fuel prices seems to have shot up again. )Don't mention leaves anyone, our garden will look like a compost heap on return!

Had a letter from skeletal clinic. to to advise OH she has been accepted for treatment for her right hand (just have to wait for appointment)
Hopeful it will help with her be able to grip her walkers and be a bit more mobile out of her wheel chair
Off to FM tomorrow then to a private site in Norfolk and Sandringham before getting home via FM by end of November

We also got the letters this last week, £250 for OH and £350 for me as I am now 80+, though it sounds like it could be another month before payments are received. We also got the first instalment of the £400 sent to our bank account via our electricity provider.
Unless prices reduce next year I cannot see how most households will be able to afford heating next winter without some additional support, especially those where people are now working from home, where there are young children at home, or where there are pensioners who are at home a lot.

We are with Octopus Energy, who are pretty good at dealing with customers. However what they did was to reduce the standing order by the amount of the Government subsidy! I have now put up the standing order back up as I want to build up some money in the account for when it gets really cold. I don't think our electricity usage will change much in the winter months by much but currently we are only using about a £1 worth of gas a day as it's been so mild although I am sure that is about to change! Whilst I don't want Octopus to store my money for me I imagine our combined gas and electric bills for the cold winter months will be in excess of £300 a month, perhaps more? The previous administration had capped energy prices for two years which gave a degree of certainty but now we don't have a clear plan for next year. The only good news seems to be that wholesale gas prices have steadied and started to fall but even then they are way over what they were two years ago.

We have built up a fair amount of credit over the summer.....about £1400 after deducting the bill on the 25th........mainly because our usage varies a lot due to the solar PV and going away in the van at various times.
We also recently got the new boiler, and have turned off a spare fridge, so that should have cut down what we use too. Our DD shot up in April, after we came off our fix in January, but has since stayed the same. Our lot have kept the DDs constant and are sending the £66/67 to our bank account each month.
The weather here has been very mixed, and when it is dull and wet we get no solar gain so need some heating. We turned ours on in mid October, 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening, it is a bit chilly here at the moment, not been what I would call mild at all.
We have the 4 coldest months coming up now, so may even have to top up the DD after Christmas. Gas is now 3 times what it was on our previous fix, and electricity 2.5 times as much.

We got back home just before 12 after a nice weekend at Ayr Craigie club site weather wasn’t great but nice to be away. Hopefully get another weekend away in a couple of weeks as after that every weekend up until Christmas we have things on so won’t be able to go away in the van.
We are with Octopus Energy too and have found them ok so far we pay more per month than we use so have built up a healthy amount of credit but heading in to the colder months we will no doubt be using more

Don't know if we have been notified or not of our winter fuel but nothing in the bank yet. I think we will get £250 each.
We are with Shell energy who previously informed up that they will put the £66/£67 payments from the government into our electricity account and not take a DD payment if the monthly bill was less than that.
They have just reviewed our account and dropped it from £44 to £32 a month as we are in credit. The weather back home has been pretty rotten while we've been away so the SP won't have been generating a lot but on the flip side the only thing left on was the Fridge freezer and modem, so we shouldn't have used much.
Our gas is LPG which we had filled prior to leaving. According to the telemetry on the tank we have used 1% while we have been away 😊 so we should return home to a tank not far off full. With a bit of luck that should last us a couple of months once we are home.
We have now managed to alter our Covid and flu jabs to the week we come home, just need to book the hairdresser now.☺️
Moved down south a bit further today, now in Murcia. Weather is still warm, a bit hazy in a morning but it clears later on. Cool enough at night for sleeping. The last 3 sites we've been on has many Germans over wintering, this site is now different.

A very mixed day weather wise, starting off dull but soon brightening up. OH decided to do a wash and put it out on the airer. Just before heading off to do a couple of walks at Much Wenlock the clouds looked threatening so we took washing. Still nice and sunny when we set off walking and just as we turned to head back to the car for lunch the sky broke and we were wet to our underwear by the time we got back to it. Drove back to site and of course after lunch the sun came out! I did a couple more walk from the site, one with Flyte and a second alone. Glad we took washing in when we had!!
The last couple of photoed places were relatively easy, it seems so a couple from today that may be a bit harder to identify. House and Stable Block.

What are we doing today, sitting in the shade just now as its HOT.
The hazy skies have cleared and blue skies are back, so is the heat phew.
Very sticky night last night. Think it will have to be a bike ride to a nice beach this afternoon. The pool is great but it gets noisy and there is lots of flies around.
Other than that no other plans ☀️☀️☀️

Took the car to get sorted today turned out it was just a sensor so not too bad also they cleaned and valeted it so saves me a job. Thinking we will change it in the next few months shortlist so far is a late model Land Rover Freelander or a 2014-15 ish year Kia Sorento both these cars can be got for our budget. Leaning toward the Freelander but opinions advice welcome from anyone on here whatever it is will have a hard act to follow the Volvo V70 has been excellent. We are in no rush but eyes are open

We had a Freelander at one point Francis but OH never felt it had as much "oomph" as other tow cars. I didn't drive it much so can't offer anything else in favour.
We're in the Lakes just now, if it rains much more we will literally be in the lakes!
