We’ve hit 33c, which is bad but it must be hellish inland☹️

Glad it went well Goldie. You all deserve to take it as easy as you can today and a cool house will help. I've added the ice cream to a list of places to visit.
Wherenext sounds like a lot of tasks on a hot morning.
Just copied takethedogalong and taken photos of our indoor thermometers. The weather station was I the kitchen, says rain but metcheck doesn't agree. Stood it on the bench on the patio in the shade, could feel.the heat travel up my legs in the few steps required. House still has all windows covered and still roasting. I can confirm we have a good breeze, feels like a hairdryer. Not venturing out any more if I can help it.
Do you're very best to stay cool folks. And thanks to everyone who is doing their bit to keep the wheels of our country turning. I'm very grateful.

It is Rocky. Nothing is moving, no traffic, no birds. Just seen on news some Yorks/Lincs homes are without power as something has broken down somewhere.
I have doused pooch in cool water twice today. I put my hand on a radiator upstairs earlier, it’s actually warm from trapped air in room. Tried opening doors but there’s no draught at all. Got to go out to hospital in a couple of hours, just hope it’s dropped a bit. Can’t even have a cold shower, even on 1 setting it’s coming out luke warm😁 Our promised rain forecast has changed as well, we can expect nothing apparently. Checked on Mum and Sis, they are doing ok, at top of a big hill, so 🤞it is a tad cooler. On the plus side, tomatoes are ripening as I watch them. Goodness knows what Wrangler is doing to gallon with air con full on, but who cares, it’s lovely in there🤣

Indeed it is hot. Even after a few weeks of it in France. Sons weather station, who lives a couple of miles away and which I can call up on the internet, has been showing fractionally above 40C for the last couple of hours. I think the humidity is slightly higher here than in France and that makes it feel worse. Plus we don’t have a pool to jump in to cool off.😂

Been a busy couple of days since we returned home from a lovely week in Somerset, Brue you live in a beautiful county, I loved some of the villages.
Came home to an email to advise us of the new amount for gas/electricity DD ouch! 🤑🤑 and my car insurance renewal, not too bad, at least my old boss still isn't charging me the renewal admin fee. 🙂
Work has been busy, as usual after a week off, the office has been very warm 🥵
Had a trip to the mobile breast screening clinic this morning, and it's the dentist later in the week.
Glad your day went well Goldie I too have made a note of the ice cream parlour, we are planning a trip in that direction later this year.
As we are posting pics of temperatures, I have added one our son sent of the temperature in they house in MK. I've managed to keep the downstairs at home to under 30° just, so far.🤔

I don’t think you are far from us Steve, we are close to Notts border. Our weather station has given up the ghost, on list for replacement.

I like that egg! Does it change colour as temps rise and fall?
Awful news from Essex where a grass fire has reached houses, at least a couple totally destroyed. Not sure of casualties, hope no one seriously hurt.

Yes I think so, they bought it to keep a check on room temperature when their daughter was born. I don't suppose they ever thought they would read that sort of high temps!! 🤣

The garden thermometer in the shade is currently showing 38.3C. everyone is complaining but I like it. It brings back so many memories of my teens spent in Italy when these temperatures were common from July through to the the start of September. No AC then and we all wore jeans!
I was actually in work today and I was on one of the 'hydration stations' under a gazebo for sports day. The school even brought an ice cream van onto the grounds and everyone got free 99s. It was called off at midday so I had to 'endure' an afternoon in the air conditioned hall watching Sing Too which was quite good. All in all one an easy way to earn money!

Cooler here today, Looks like we are being blessed with a cooler week ahead too. The forecast is transmitted to the weather station by a central forecasting facility, rather than being derived from conditions around our place. Sorry about the quality, trying to find lighting that didn't result in a glorious reflection of me holding a phone.
Our recently installed monoblock aircon is having a baptism of fire.

Awful fires in London and other places. Poor people affected. Poor firefighters.
Someone, I do know where it was, was burning something awful last night. IRRESPONSIBLE!
Listening to the news they're saying places are quiet. I thought we'd been asked not to travel? Yes for appointments or essential things but jaunts??
Gosh must be hot in your neck in the woods cornersteady. School here cancelled sports day last Tuesday. Not sure if they were in today for last day of term. They certainly haven't been out in the shade as they were yesterday. Poor kids have had so much disruption in the last few years.

No, we’ve never been to any conferences or tours abroad. I think that the majority of the foreign visitors were (as we say) “of an age”. Probably the same as us! But there’s no way we could afford to do something like that; I know it wasn’t cheap. Nor spend that much time off farm.

Daughter's school has end of year project week, they can join in to a week of totally different sessions run by the teachers who come up with all sorts of ideas. Daughter and colleagues run an art week, creating stuff and doing trips out. Portland Sculpture park is one outing for the mini bus this week, hope it isn't too hot in the old quarries!
We have had brewing storms today, a short burst of rain and now very warm once more. In and out with all our outside stuff!

PHEW!! I was in the Cathedral this morning where it was wonderfully cool in but very noisy. As well as the dinosaur exhibition (which is absolutely wonderful by the way) we had a primary school - about 300 to 400 of them - in all morning rehearsing for their leavers service this afternoon. The noise level was unbelievable but it was lovely to see them all. When I left home at 9.30 this morning our outside temperature was reading 37C this afternoon is was reading 40C and is not much lower now! I am hoping for slightly cooler weather tomorrow and one or two of the thunderstorms would be very welcome for the gardens and the farmers.

Was very warm here overnight but we had the windows open in the van so there was a bit of a draught but not the most comfortable night it reminded me of nights we had in France when we were over there with the van a few years ago. Had thunder and lightening this morning and a bit of rain the first rain we have saw for almost 3 weeks but it was actually a welcome sight. We took a drive down to Looe today in Cornwall lovey place and not too hot for walking around for fish and chips and ate them in the car overlooking the town very nice. Back on site and there seems to be a storm brewing it’s very windy and dull and guess who forgot to pack the storm straps for the awning so it may not be a peaceful night tonight either just hoping the wind doesn’t get worse

Anybody sleep well last night?
I have to say that I had the best sleep I've had all year. Mrs WN was shaking her head this morning. She disappeared during the night to the spare room but I was away with the fairies as they say. She says I'm weird. I take it as a compliment.
For someone who has awful problems with sleep patterns I can't wait for tonight, but you just know what is going to happen don't you?

Weather today has been a bit of a mixed bag in the Cairngorms. Quite humid but with some very cold spots of rain whilst we were on the beach at Nairn this afternoon. This evening at Grantown-on-Spey we've had a stormy evening - windy and rainy at tea time, but all seems calm now, if a little wet under foot.
Dreadful news about the fires at Dartford... 😥😥
Moving to Edinburgh tomorrow.

Just had a friend on the phone to say that the valley in front of their house is full of smoke and has found out from the services that it is the smoke from the Gironde area which there have been terrible wildfires for over a week and we both went outside here and it has arrived here very misty across the fields and the smell is like old bonfires and the area is about 205 miles from here and there is a strong wind forecast for tonight not good so no windows open tonight that will be a stuffy bedroom, such terrible pictures on the tv also the UK fires also oh for some rain here and UK.
Stay safe folks.

I thought that I had mentioned it , but perhaps not.

It is Hodnet Hall Gardens, between Market Drayton and Shawbury. Well worth a visit, and is in the HHA Free for members scheme. Visitor can take their dogs round, and there is lots of shade. Another close by,in the scheme, is Wollerton Old Hall Gardens, but one cannot take a dog round them and there is no shade in the car park, so we have that a miss.

Nothing worse than smoke in the air we have a pyrotechnical neighbour who thinks we won't notice a late night bonfire! Absolutely awful on the scale seen in France and of course terrible pollution for everyone. Hope the UK fires get under control, like B2 we're hoping for rain, lots of it too, everything is wilting.
That said hope sleep comes to all that need it, we have a nice fresh breeze just now.

Anybody sleep well last night?
Certainly not us!! Flyte has a phobia of flies in the van, and one started buzzing around 4:30 am, and from then on he couldn't settle so that was us awake until I got up with him for a walk out at 5:30, and we both rose just after 7:00 having had very little sleep!!
It was 32 in the car and caravan at 10:00 this morning and rose to about 36 by lunchtime. Thankfully we have had a steady breeze for most of the day. It feels a good deal cooler now sat outside but still reading 33 in the van, The sun, which had disappeared behind clouds earlier but reappeared and was shining directly onto the van's front windows, so it will be another warm night in bed I fear.
Edit 9:45 pm Clouds have now started to build up, and the temperature is dropping at last, so maybe the van will have cooled down somewhat by bedtime. At least it will be a pleasant last walk with Flyte in a few minutes time.

Not sure about a good nights sleep. Temperature here in MK has dropped by about 15 degrees to 23 from todays peak but it is still very muggy!!! We have had a bit of rain but it has not amounted to much. Hopefully it will be more comfortable tomorrow?

Very hot here today compared with what we are used to, but nothing like down south. Quite overcast but still warm and muggy this afternoon, OH heard a distant rumble of thunder, and we had a very short rain shower this evening.
CH man came this morning, fitted a second non return valve on pipework, so hopefully we are now sorted. HW turned on for a bit so we now have HW to the kitchen.
Now have the basin installed in the worktop in our en suite, so hopefully I will get the plumbing done tomorrow, then we just need flooring, sorting out all towels etc etc, and we can move back in. Only 12 days till the visitors arrive, still all the tidying and cleaning to do, so it will be a bit of a rush!
OH has been trying to sort caravan insurance, doing the guide hall books, and making inroads into our 5 weeks of washing.........2 loads to go apparently.
Blood test for me tomorrow, followed by budgie feeding and tomato watering, and shopping before we come home as fridge pretty empty. We left most of our food In the caravan fridge for DD, but have apparently managed to bring home the 2 tins of baked beans and the jar of pasta sauce they had asked us to get them. 😧

Still very warm here. Just gone 11 pm and house thermostat is still saying 28c. Just had a ping on phone from police saying South Yorks has declared an emergency due to fires. Wildfires are affecting properties.
On the plus side, OH might be home tomorrow. And I have ordered a quite large pool for the garden. Bound to rain now….🤣🤣🤣

Heard on BBC News that the Euromillions lottery has been won by a ticket sold in GB -- checked mine & its only good for Wednesdays Daily Scandal Sheet but perhaps ...........

Edit :~~ Well I must be good for rather more than that, cos two moths just settled on my reading glasses

Good night, Sweet & uninterrupted dreams even for folks getting 'pinged' by the Constabulary

We love Dartmoor. We were lucky enough to get two solid weeks of very hot sunny weather one holiday. We were in a lovely cottage not fat from North Bovey, and managed to swim in all sorts of wild swim spots on the moor. It’s a truly magical landscape, and that Museum is a really interesting and great value visit. Not sure how much longer you have away, but there’s a great little Motor Museum at Moretonhampstead, opposite the outdoor pool. There’s another outdoor pool worth a visit at Chagford as well, very nice little town. 😁
