Sorry TDA but in my absence from CT I didn’t realize that your OH had gone back into hospital.

I’m so glad to hear he is back home now and I’m sure he is in safe and capable hands.
You must control that Miss Whiplash alter ego.

All the best wishes from me and the OH.

That’s good news Goldie. That is just what happened to me when I had my hip done in February, although the private hospital option was given to me straight after referral. I saw the private consultant in early December and had my operation on 17th February. It was a far better experience than I could have hoped, private room, good care, food ummm, ok!!

When I had my hip done back in 2010 in the NHS I got the go ahead for the Op in about November/December and it was done in the following March. Those were the days when you had as of right the expectation that it would be done within 18 weeks!!!
Its just an added bonus that your OP will have it done in a private facility. It perhaps goes against the ethos of the NHS system but surely it makes sense to use the private sector to reduced the massive backlog caused party through COVID and partly through lack of investment. Previous administrations have done the same thing. I seem to recall they even got surgeons from France to come across and help out.

Absolutely true David. In the private hospital I was in most of the rooms on my floor appeared empty!!! In fact personally I only saw 4 other patients, although of course there may have been more. It makes sense to use facilities to help long waiting lists but of course the limiting factor will, as with NHS, having enough Surgeons and nurses.

We have had rain, torrential for a short while and just when we were standing in a local garden centre looking at veg seedlings! Nice and refreshing it was too but a bit wet!
We're now stocked up for the winter with purple sprouting, curly kale and Italian kale. We forgot to grow any after our mammoth open garden efforts with flowers etc. Prices have gone up, not so good but the half price seed sales are now on so we did buy next years tomato seeds etc.

Nevers, thank you😁👍
My OH’s op was a priority, and when it all kicked off in the middle of COVID he was told not to worry as Cancer patients were top of the list for any surgery. (Talking about in hospitals concerned) He had to wait a while anyway, in consultation with his surgeon, just to get all the scans, tests, etc… in place to ensure things were going to be as smooth as possible, as it was so complicated. He had scans/X-rays/ tests in lots of different hospitals, some NHS, some private, some City walk in health centres. He said that there was no difference in care, equipment, quality of staff in any of them.
During this time, we have had chance to chat with a lot of staff. What does come out is that the NHS service is under pressure to a certain extent nowadays because of lifestyle choices. They are dealing with a lot of preventable illnesses and injuries, and the appalling falling to bits of the Care system. The same patients are in and out on a regular basis often because they simple don’t get the care and support they need, or are not doing something that could improve their health enough to keep them out of hospital. Drink and drugs/tobacco are a major source of admissions, as is chronic obesity. The knock on effect is delays all round, which of course affects those who end up in pain or unwell generally. Throw in a pandemic, and a Public Health Service already stretched starts to unravel quite quickly. Heaven forbid we ever go back to a situation where only those rich enough can have their lives saved is all I can say. And not everyone could afford insurance either. For many, including those like my OH, you simply cannot know what life is going to throw at you, be it a dodgy ticker, cancer, breathing issues, bone issues, organ issues. All you can hope is to stay as health and active as you can, and that the treatment is there when you need it. 🤞

Finally managed to change my details, after having to contact the club.
Had to chuckle that the date for commencing caravanning - they begin in the early 1900's. I know the demographic is perceived by many who observe club members as older that would make folk 100 plus 🤣🤣
Replacement of new dishwasher coming Tuesday, fitted for 10 weeks out of action for almost 4. A frank discussion with the company yesterday FINALLY resulted in action, parts on order since they came out 5 July. A code to get a replacement received today and sorted within 15 minutes with AO.com. New one coming Tuesday. What got me most, and they know 😉, was when I 1st asked for an engineer visit they tried to fob me off and then agreed as a 'goodwill gesture' . My eye, warranty condition!
All curtains now up upstairs, date for new boiler and ancillarywork (read mess, floorboards up, loft sort out and new hot water tank 🤔) in the diary along with hard landscaping. One should be finished before the other. Then we can really start decorating etc.
Right must get something to eat, otherwise I'll be getting comments similar to those takethedogalong has received on care 🤣🤣. I see nothing wrong with firmness on physio 😉
Glad I'm not heading out of Dover 😱😱😱😱

Sounds like us Corners. Cars get sold on/ passed around in our family as well. Our much loved old Jeep Wrangler is now in use with two of OH’s brothers❤️👍

Took OH for her once in a lifetime Pneumonia jab today.
Filled up locally at 181.9 as well but main street garage not supermarket (petrol) so quite happy with that especially as Tesco price 189.9.
It's rained all day today. Think the garden really appreciated it. Most of it was soft rain but a few heavy bursts. Quite cool now.
I had the same sort of thing happen to me when I needed knee surgery. It was as David K surmised about waiting times. Local private hospital but NHS paid. Haven't heard of it happening since so a slice of luck for Goldie's OH.

Because of that dreaded "Essential Maintenance" yesterday I was unable to post last night. This is what I had tried to post ( with the appropriate modifications for another day).
ABM, the forecast is for some rain this weekend, but looks good for your event (hopefully). We noticed the adverts for it as we drove home today. Are you staying up in the M/H for the full weekend? You will need a deep pocket to partake of the STP, but well worth the expense!p
Tda, very pleased to read that your OH is home safe and sound. I'm sure that his recovery will be speeded up with the aid of your nursing skills.😉,
Another trouble free drive home yesterday. OH got all the washing done and dried, 4 loads, even though we did some earlier in in the week. Van cleared out and a number of jobs done around it today including cutting down a tree that has grown too big, adjacent to our parking area. We have had drizzle on and off for much of the day, but not enough for the plants. Hopefully It will be dry tomorrow and I can get the caravan cleaned.

Asda here is still charging £1:87, and diesel at £1:95.9.

Similar happened to my OH, back in 2006, when he was listed for a single CABG (heart bypass). At that time you were supposed to have recommended surgery within 18 weeks. He got a call asking if he would consider London Bridge Hospital and have it done the next week - obviously the answer was YES!
Not only that, but they paid for me to stay in a local hotel and all my meals were paid for too. We were taken down there in a private ambulance car, and the same going home 8 days later. OH had a private room, and I was able to have all my meals there too; yes, it was really posh, but the care he got was outstanding.
Your OH is in the same lucky position my OH was in at the time in being offered that. I know my OH was deteriorating and really needed the surgery. Before he got that call we were seriously thinking about going private; we could just about afford it, and had come to the conclusion that we'd go ahead.
I hope it isn't too long before your OH gets his surgery done, good luck.

Nellie, I've got the Rally at SOUTHWELL Race Course this w/end first, then I'll be thundering into the M6 traffic lanes for Cumbria next weekend. My requests for rain are purely because we all want the grass to grow under our feet, don't we
.I have more or less stopped using the Ducky for holidays now, just as a convenient bolt hole or pied-a-terre allowing me to have a comfort-break / dining room when my tummy rumbling becomes too embarrassing and drowns out the clanking of twenty ton steam ploughing engines
. Also my pockets are quite deep now that I have started wearing those multi-pocketed cargo pants that I shortened by two inches recently { Finger tips are barely sore now and the only blood on them is from my Diabetes blood tests
} P.S.:~~ I only want a taster or two of the STP ~~ See the very last line above
- I'm not in the market for buying the company
P.P.S. :-- Cheapest dieselI have found round South Cheshire was 192.9 at Sainsburys, Nantwich and their coffee was cheapish too

A fresh breeze today, finally noticed that housework was needed! No more swanning around blaming the heat.

Friends are planning visits to the Commonwealth Games, I remember the preparations in Edinburgh years ago and it really livened the city up, very colourful too.
No plans here for further expeditions till late summer.

We got married on 25th July 1970. A cold wet day, which the photographer said was perfect for photos.
Two years ago we planned a rather big Do, but then of course it had to be abandoned. Last year we planned a smaller affair, and we managed it - six of us spread out on the patio having a drink or two.
This year, there’s no official celebration, but, my husband and I are going out for a meal tonight. And on the actual day (Monday), we are having Afternoon Tea at The Midland at Morecambe.

Congrats to the Goldies, have a nice meal.
Brue, we have the Euro’s happening here at the moment, town has been rocking👍 If OH was up to it, we might have headed off to Commonwealth Cycling events.

Thanks RK. Our pool arrived today, all we need now to try it out is a hot day🤣
OH has some plan of hanging onto my ankles as I crawl on the spot, so to speak. More like sink says I🤣
Going to pack him into car for a short walk tomorrow. Boredom is setting in, and the TdeF finishes tomorrow, so I need to keep him busy. At least between naps🤣

It’s been a busy old day in our little corner of West Yorkshire today .
The Welly Wanging World Championships we’re on in the tiny village of Upperthong and less than a mile away in Wilshaw they had Honley Show, a one day agricultural show with quite a large tented village and all the usual events.
The downside was the traffic congestion which spread to our village about a mile and a half away.
Honley show outgrew it’s original site years ago and moved about five miles to Farnley Tyas. It seems it has now outgrown that site and moved to the site of the Yorkshire Motorsport event. The move has laid one ghost to rest, the day of the show was almost invariably wet but we’ve had no rain today

Glad all ok Tda and enjoy your pool ours is small as you know but have got two noodle sticks as they call them here just long round shape made of a very dense foam and very useful in the pool as I can managed a few strokes and doing plenty of leg exercises and OH did grab my foot the other day he was not in pool so glad of the noodle stick ha ha, OH says he will try the pool but when a lot cooler as ours is in full sun and today top temp outside is 40C so pool will be body temp phew and OH as just said to a friend of ours that we could cook the potatoes for our meal tonight in there hmm silly man heyho.
I have watched the recordings of the tour especially as it was in Cahors Thursday and it finishes today in Paris.
Having a quiet day today as just too hot now nearly 32C on weather station.
Take care folks and enjoy your breaks away.

That brings back memories, Honley Show😁 Up at 3.30am plaiting the mane of a very sleepy horse, trying to keep him clean and calm enough to shove in a box (he wasn’t a good loader😱) Out at show rings, eyeing up whose there, last minute polishing and primping, last minute instructions to rider, nervous wait for judge’s decision😬
Treasure it PG, so many of the lovely smaller shows are no longer with us. Our final show was to have been Honley, but the old so and so flatly refused to go, by the time we got him into box, neither horse, rider or groom were in a fit state to go into a ring. He could be a real old ****** when he wanted to be😡 But we loved him❤️

We left Hillhead club site in Brixham early this morning after a wonderful 2 weeks in Devon. Daughter, SIL and Gdaughter were with us in their caravan too and we even managed to pitch together so we all had a great time the weather was fantastic maybe even too hot on a couple of occasions but certainly won’t complain as we made good use of the outside pool. The on site bar was good as usual and the food decent too. Left there this morning and made the long tow up here to Blackpool where we plan on spending a couple of days before heading home. Surprisingly M5 and M6 were both very quiet no hold ups so we made good time and done the journey in 5 and a half hours. Bit drizzly here in Lancashire and the weather isn’t looking promising for tomorrow either.

It’s a Sunday and you were travelling in the right direction, Francis.
