WN just a word of warning. Our 12 year old grandson told us this afternoon that he and all his year group are off to the youth hostel in Ambleside tomorrow for the week 😁

😱😱😱
Mind you there is always groups such as your Grandsons in Ambleside. Just yesterday we were checking the earliest times of the ferry for today down at the pier and there was a group of about 50 scouts with scout masters passing through but thanks for the heads up.
They're not likely to be seen in Joules I assume?

For anyone who happens to be in the Perth area on 20th July a Spitfire and Hurricane are going to be flying up the River Tay going North the proposed time is 14.18. We will of course be there 😊 when RAF Leuchars was on the go OH and youngest son used to go to the open day, there most memorable one was when the Vulcan was there.
We used to get buzzed regular with low flights, not so much these days as just Lossiemouth now.

No I shouldnt think they will be visiting Joules ....... nor Lakeland 😉

That will be a sight to see TG👍 I found this restored clip of Finningley Airshow on YouTube, showing Vulcans and Concorde. It was always a fantastic day out, but even better was sitting on the end of the runway the day before with a CB radio, listening in on the pilot frequencies, you never knew what might fly in next to park up ready for the Show. I do remember the gasps when a US Blackbird arrived, they were very futuristic back in the 1980s😁

Thanks for youtube clip TDA fond memories of airshows and yes the only plane my mum went on was Concorde at the Yeovilton Air Museum many years ago and laughed when she said gosh it is a bit small in here!
Too hot to do much here 36.2C and getting hotter through the week upto 42C by next weekend, so today did do a dip in the pool and it was lovely not been in a pool before with a hat on but sun was very strong and think the next two days I will be in the pool earlier when it might be cooler.
Sorry to hear re your return home DK and hope you will feel better just take care, cases are going up here, lots of fetes and music evenings going on around here for the holiday season but we are not going as too many folk about and as in UK most people here are not wearing masks anymore although we do and even managed to lose one the other day whilst shopping locally.
The only gardening here is watering, the ground is rock hard and will do our conifer hedge early October when our friends will help to do it and will be much cooler then, so it will be inside chores and we are upto friends to do some electrical work for them and then take them to pick up their new to them motorhome near Toulouse and the car will be packed as they want to spend a couple of nights not far from the dealers to make sure everything works and it is going to be rather warm on Friday phew glad we have got air con in the car.
Stay safe folks.

Sorry to read about your covid, DK. Hope that you are soon back up to speed health wise.
Good to hear that you are getting a few hours walking in, WN, any chance of you doing a high fell, or are you saving them for another trip?
Glad that your OH's op has been brought forward, tda. Fingers crossed that all will go without a hitch this time.
The electric boat trip looked a great experience, millie. Something to consider when we eventually get down that way.
'Twas an easy run up to Welshpool this morning. Site full with last M/H arriving 15 mins ago. Very warm again so just a couple of gentle walks along by the canal this afternoon and evening. Hope we can find shade when we head out to Powys Castle tomorrow, or it will just be a short walk on the estate, as we can't leave Flyte in the car for any length of time in these temperatures.

We used to have DeHaveland factory at Hatfield and they had an air display every year ,its now housing and commercial biuldings now
I have twice flown to airshows in DC3s once from Luton where before landing at the show did a lowlevel flypast of the RAF base and I mean low the control tower windows were at the same level
The second time OH and I flew from Stansted to. RAF St Maughan? in Cornwall for an air display there were two DC3s and we flew with the second one just to starboard of us

If all goes to plan we will finish picking up silage this morning, then sheet up the pit this afternoon. Then the Baler Man is coming to our hay meadows. We don't have our own baler now that we only make a couple of fields of hay.
The photo was taken during supper break last night.

Well we arrived in sunny Devon yesterday early afternoon after a long but uneventful tow down here. We left home on Friday afternoon and spent the night at one of our usual CLs in Cumbria then moved on down to Chapel Lane Club site on Saturday before finishing the journey yesterday surprisingly the M5 was fine no hold ups lots of caravans and MHs out but not much traffic apart from that. All set up now awning up and we have a nice pitch in the sun had dinner at the on-site bar last night then had a few beers outside on the terrace. Very warm here this morning so we are off to the pool then head out in the afternoon for some supplies but after the long drive I doubt we will be venturing far for the next couple of days

I regularly swim in the Solent under the flight path for Daedalus airfield, our local airfield, and regularly get buzzed by one or 2 Spitfires as they take off or land, they do jollies from the airfield, but at almost £2k for 30 mins, i just have to lay back in the water and dream.
Fantastic weather in LOS, but caravan not going anywhere for a few weeks, much too busy for us, although we are going to a site in Essex 30th July for 4 days to attend a friends 75th birthday, commercial site at Mersea Island, not our usual type of sight but it is only for 4 days, then we are off to Tavistock for the month of September before venturing over there mid October.
just doing some small repairs to the caravan, plastic on the window struts now very brittle and the adjusters keep breaking, but replaced most of them now. Good to see folk are out and about and enjoying the lovely weather

St Mawgan JV👍 Only time I got close to a flight was one long hot Summer working as a Lifeguard/Sports Coach on hols from College. Our town had a fabulous Military Tattoo, two day event, organised by my ex Marine boss. I got the job of guarding the Marine’s helicopter while they went to a briefing. All I had to do was sit in it, but don’t touch anything🤣
Scorchio here. Way too hot to work outside, so woodland walk with the pooch, a few tasks to sort out for OH, check all ok with Mum.
Enjoying tales from other folks holidays, and Goldie’s silaging. We used to buy hay from the field for our horse, shared with friends. It was a very long, hot couple of days hand stacking it onto trailer on back of Land Rover, but always fun. Field picnics, dogs along for company, happy days.

As a contrast to my earlier photo, this haytime picture was taken in 1932. The young lad in the front was my late father-in-law.

Well an interesting start to the day after breakfast our wall next to the postbox by the gate decided to fall down overnight only a small area but trying to do it in this heat of 30+ this morning and OH no good at jigsaws or walling but we managed to get it sorted although a few rocks left over heyho, this weather is having affect on the dry walls around here and on some roads when it is next cliffs and usually in winter the local council check all the cliffs and will take all loose stuff off think the qualifications for that job must be a climber and able to do abseiling as well very tricky work and in the spring you can where they have been with fresh coloured rock showing.
After that work decided to have a dip before it got too hot and OH moved water from 1 water butt to two other ones as we are not allowed to use tap water now and no topping up of the pool not that I use tap water for the garden as we have quite a lot of water butts about the place.
Great photos Goldie new and old I just remember the old grey tractor and old style haymaking equipment when I used to help the local farmer in Shropshire as a teenager many years ago.

Skies over South Cheshire clouded over -- possibly forewarning of SNOW perhaps ??
Well it is 27* at present and that's 5* below freezing I think

Hope you are all taking whatever pleasures you can get these grim days !!
Coming home from the Cheshire Steam Show at Daresbury { well where else would I be } yesterday I passed the largest great big Bumbley Bee that I ever did see just off the A51
.Could have stopped for a closer look, but might, just might, have been tempted into one of the local buildings where I know there is a farm (!) shop selling a series of comestibles fit for the relieving of over-heating
. Should you be in the area try them & tell me how wrong I was to keep on driving !!RK, plenty of Old Grey Fergie tractors still out there believe me !! And nearly all still capable of being 'belted up' and driving threshing machines etc etc.
Goldie, Gorgeous sky in that photo young lady !! Keep the Family/Hands/Staff well watered while admiring the clouds

Still a few grey fergie tractors here as well ABM our next door neighbours in Shropshire used to use theirs for cutting wood as you say with the belts going gosh memories, we do have a lot of old tractors about but a lot of newbies as well and size John Deere, Claas and many others.
It is now 36.2C outside with a rather hot wind hence we are inside trying to keep cool.
OH just said what is for tea so nothing wrong with his appetite!!

Not too hot here. Just a pleasant sunny morning turning to high cloud this afternoon with bits of full sun.
The ladies decided on a walk with some sun and shade so I took them to Elterwater and walked down to Chesters at Skelwith Bridge. MiL seemed to enjoy it, especially the cake stop!
Had another interruption from next doors burglar alarm last night. 3 times. Mrs WN went around to have a word, not trusting my “diplomatic skills”. They didn’t even know about them. Seems the alarm turns itself off after 15 minutes and nobody turns up. Why on earth bother with it then?
Nellie, I’m not sure I’ll get up to the high fells as I am back on the day job. Depends if my chauffeuring service is needed or not. I don’t mind. It’s not my holiday. Hope you enjoy Welshpool. Stay cool.

Cloudy here at Strathclyde CAMC site, but still a little humid. A little cooler than home, but still shorts weather... car says 22°...
Strathclyde does suffer from road noise - inevitable really - it's right next to a busy road + motorway, but our pitch is really big...

Your in our home territory David we live not far from Strathclyde Park so spend many weekends there with the caravan. The site has its critics but we love it there is road noise but it doesn’t bother us and the site has matured nicely over the last few years. Enjoy your stay

DSB good photo would like your cooler weather, enjoy your holiday and catching up with family. Also folks on holiday have a good time and be careful in the heat this week.
A friend of ours is at Exeter racecourse site until next week and says it is a bit breezy but much cooler and he does not like heat much so will be keeping covered up and staying in the shade.

It's been a lovely couple of days in Somerset, very warm "phew" 🥵
Visited NT Fyne Court yesterday, lovely place, pictures are of the Folly and Skyline.
Went into Glastonbury this morning,ok but a bit too peace love and Joss sticks for us 🤣
This afternoon we visited the levels which we have a lovely view over form the CL. Saw a Buzzard sitting on a post, Swans and a couple of Grey Heron's.
Evenings have been spent watching the hot air balloons over Glastonbury Tor and over the levels.
Currently we are the only us and 1 other caravan on the CL, so we have plenty of "space".

Photo of the Ladies with Pike o Stickle and Harrison Stickle in the background. MiL doing well for her age although she has retired for the day.

I remember climbing them with our little westie from Great Langdale in the snow. What a game little dog that was. Always willing for a climb or three.

Great photos Helen and WN. Yes we found Glastonbury too peace, love and joss sticks as well when we stopped there some years.ago!. Lovely photos of your ladies WN. I admire your MIL's stamina.

Love the photo, WN. Enjoy your leisurely holiday up there.
Too hot to do very much here today, 32* in the car!! Found some shade for Flyte while we did our shop this morning and had a gentle walk around a small nature reserve on the way back to the site. Leisurely afternoon around the site under shady trees and then a walk for me along the canal, where I spotted a Row Deer family, buck, hind and fawn, feeding together, and a pair of Swans with 8 cygnets.

When we lived in Somerset hardly went to Glastonbury, know what you mean re the shops but it did have the best fish and chip shop around and one of the oldest in England in a lovely old building, a treat about once a month on a Friday as they had table service as well as a take away gosh memories again.
Just had a look at our weather station on top of the microwave for the next few days 39C today and tomorrow and 40C Thursday and Friday and 41C for Saturday phew and double phew.
Great photos H&T and WN. There was a programme on tv a couple of days ago on a year in the Lake District a very enjoyable and fantastic scenery.
Also a lot of stunning scenery on the Tour de France as they are now in the Alps, it is coming quite close to us so will try and find a quieter spot that we can watch from a distance as not into crowds possibly nearer one of the smaller villages than Cahors where they finish for the day next week.

Another hot morning here in Devon apparently it’s to be warmer today than it was yesterday. We ended up spending most of the day on site yesterday and then went into Brixham late afternoon for a wander round the harbour. Not sure what the plan is for today yet.
Helen - I know what you mean about Glastonbury it’s a strange sort of place but I must admit we love it we were there again last summer and could spend ages just people watching one thing we have noticed each time we have visited it that a lot of the locals don’t seem to wear shoes
