Sounds as if those that are out and about are having a good times.
Heddlo, if you don't mind me asking, which CL are you staying on, as we stayed at Brookfields Farm at Leyburn when visiting Middleham?

Should any of you
a) have a real talent for cleaning caravan roofs and
b) be in the GLOSSOP area then you might just be able to earn a £pound or 6
Apparently some passing motorist came off the road o/s Glossop caravan dealers and crashed onto the roof of a couple of their 'vans

If a car has landed on a caravan roof, it's going to take more than a bit of T-Cut.

Not the best of days but Sherpa daughter only has this week so can't afford to wait. This is the Red Pike to High Crag route above Buttermere. Now going to head down to Gatesgarth.

Thanks M and DSB, back at base camp and the fish and chip van is on site so the perfect end to the day!

Thanks DEBSC, Wells and the Bishop's Palace are on my list to visit, I've downloaded the CAMC vouchers for the discount.

Thanks for the info re Somerset,
Moulesy we are staying in the Glastonbury area, we haven't really visited the area before, we always seem to shoot passed on the M5 on the way to Devon or Cornwall.
Enjoy the lakes Cornersteady, great photos.
OH has been sorting out the caravan while I've been at work, got our solar panel out to check it still works as we are going "off grid " in the Cotswolds on route to Somerset. Panel charged our spare battery from flat.

Millie sorry to hear OH is still feeling the effects of Covid, hope he can get to see the doctor, if its anything like here it may be a bit of a wait. A friend was supposed to be on holiday this week, but has had to cancel as her sister who she was going with has Covid for the second time.

Helen I envy you. I have had Wells cathedral on my 'to do' list for many years but haven't got there yet. Like you we always drove past on our way to Devon. Do post some photos.
OH managed to get a telephone consultation this morning actually with 'our own' GP. Had a long chat with him and GP has decided on a series of tests starting with some blood tests next week so we will see how things go.
Great photos Cornersteady. Hope the fish and chips were good.

Hope the tests go well for Mr H, Millie, nice to get hold of your own GP. I've done three Covid tests recently as I can't throw off a bad cold etc, all negative. I was commiserating on the phone with a neighbour who is the same! Hoping some warmer weather might help.
Helen I think the Glastonbury area is a good base, lots to see. Glastonbury is a bit whacky in parts but has good cafes and historic places to explore. Wells is a nice town (oops city!
) good market, don't miss Vicars Close near the cathedral, a very ancient street. If you visit Cheddar Gorge it's quite good to drive out of Wells on the Bristol road and take the turn towards Priddy, that way you'll drop down through the gorge via Cliff Rd from the Mendips and it's quite spectacular. Hope you enjoy our part of the world!2 -
The passport saga continues. Tonight at 20.15 I received an email to say that the photo that I submitted has been rejected
it was accepted online. There is no way I'm going through that performance again so tomorrow we will be going in to town to use a passport photo booth. It's took 2 weeks for this info to come back to me. OH still hasn't heard anything about his but going to get his done again just incase. What a palaver.Been busy all day at the sewing machine.

OH busy in his shed manufacturing, shelves now made and fitted in the MH all good.

Heddlo, It is a lovely site, hope to get back there again soon, possibly later in the year.
Good to hear that your OH managed to speak to his GP, Millie, and that the test results enable him to help get Mr H back to full health.
TG, hope that the new photos enable you both to get your new passports back in time for your next trip.
Corners, by the looks of your photos the heavy rain that was reported for the Lakes overnight had passed. Glad you able get out for a good walk. Have you done many of the Welsh hills, as looking from our present CL there are some excellent tops to be had, without going into the crowded Snowdon range.

Spot on, WN. Today was a bit different as we had a wander around some of the Slate Mine Trail, not far from the site. Didn't realise just how extensive they are, and the devastation wrecked on the landscape. Some great hills close by to be walked if only we were a good few years younger.

Nice photos Nellie and CS, whose climb we did about 3 years ago now and it seems a lifetime with everything that's happened since.
Well, I gave them 2 options for the day and they chose option 3. I'm only the hired help (and not much "hiring" seen by me) so what do I know?
They decided it was too windy for options 1&2 so settled on retail therapy in Richmond. I dropped them off then drove to Easby Abbey, parked and walked back to meet up with them, and obviously carry any resulant purchases back. We all then walked back to the Abbey and St.Agatha's church. Lovely walk alongside the river and the Abbey and church were splendiferous.
What are we doing tomorrow? How would I know?

13 days and counting - until we host a farm tour for The World Shorthorn Conference. It's the 200th Anniversary of Coates Herdbook. The oldest Herdbook in the world. All registered Shorthorns are listed (with details) in the book. It's ongoing, though now of course accessible in digital form. We've a bookcase full of early editions, since our first homebred calf was registered in 1917.
Visitors from all over the world are flying in for a tour that takes in notable and varied herds.
Of course when you have visitors you want your house to look as good as it can. So there's lots of fixing, spraying, whitewashing and painting going on in all the farm buildings. Gallons of red paint have been bought, and yesterday we started on our house. The porch is now gleaming and the front door is next. When I say "we", it's the Royal We, though I did do some weeding yesterday, until I had a run in with a cat and retired to a bench to supervise.
Of course farm work goes on - milking/feeding/mucking out etc and, fingers crossed, silaging next week.

A brilliant day both weather wise and walking. Went up Stone Arthur then a little bit of the Fairfield horseshoe shoe then Seat Sandal then down to Dunmail raise. Rest day tomorrow before what looks like some good weather from Thursday.

Yeah, we managed our Humber ride today, thankfully not too windy, and lots of sunshine. On tethered wifi, so no photos yet. Hope everyone one else, out, in and preparing for events is having a good time👍

Glad you have done your Humber ride and all ok Tda, no good for me even walking over just not good with bridges and a lot of water below I blame my late mum when I was young we went over the Clifton bridge in Bristol and she did not like being to close to the bridge and even tried to walk in the road a long time ago.
Weather starting to get warmer here and next week very hot mid to high 30's phew think I will be in the pool a lot although earlier in the day.
OH needed to get next supply of meds today so off to local small town went in my car as I needed to top up fuel and surprise it has gone down per litre by 5 cents and the price shows the 18cents per litre off done by the government and it was the cheapest seen here for about a month lets hope it goes down again we can hope, also shopping done and still wearing masks.
Enjoy your breaks folks.

Last day in France so went for a lovely lunch time meal, at a restaurant just up the road from the Aire we are using, here on the Brittany Coast. Local Oysters to start, then a fishy main and a very pretty hot and cold chocolate dessert, which I just had to take a picture of.😀The view from our table was across Saint Michels bay. Although lovely and sunny it was rather windy, so the outside tables wouldn’t have been a good idea.

Darned treacherous things these moggies, Goldie
.Aged sister got a phone call on Sunday from a vet's office in Nantwich, about 3 or 4 miles away
" Mrs M your cat has been brought in, its ok, but some kind {
} person thought it was lost so picked it up and dropped it off here. Can you come & collect him please ? "She tried to get in contact with half the family but one was steaming
, one is in Portugal
, one was in a fishing-match so the sole exception was busy loading his motor for the journey to his caravan in North Wales, just had to find space for the Elderly One & the cat-carrier & collect ( as well as pay for !!) the moggie. t'would not have been too bad, but apparently the cat had been sitting on the pavement about 20 yards from his dinner !!Pets, ach you just cannot trust 'em !!
