    Evening All  wink

Had a nice steam rally at KELSALL, Cheshire, to day  laughing,  a good 2000 -- 2500 folks there in the Cheshire countryside looking at steam engines, motorcars and motorcycles as well as some rather natty 30+ ton  HGV's from the 50 -- 60s  all highly resplendent with their polished paint & signwriting  cool.  Quite a beautiful end to the week. Well it was until we got caught in a half dozen heavy showers, and, by the time I had retired to the motor for lunch, a terrific hail storm --  I believe there was thunder as well but the hail drowned out all other noises sealed  Still I understand farmers were praying for rain, just not on that field.

Found my way round a goodly number of market traders stalls { but nary a face mask did I see } and found a lady I remembered from days past who is retiring from the trade due to 70+ years and a bad back  so I helped her to get rid of some out-dated stock.  Nothing too awkward, just five (5) C.D.s for the price of four (4)  innocent  Tomorrow I intend to drive my neighbours mad with some nice, tuneful, and LOUD country music.

Sleep well my friends, and thank your lucky stars you are not my neighbours  innocent

    TW

I have looked at both the Stonic and the Kona. Both are too low for me. The Stonic is based on the Rio rather than the Venga which is the car its meant to be replacing.  I really liked the Kona but despite it being an SUV I still find the seating, despite trying to configure it to suit, still not as upright as the Venga. I have probably been spoilt by the Venga as it seems a fairly unique design for a small car. The Suzuki Vitara is one option which does seem to meet my demands but it doesn't seem that solid! I think I will have to revisit the Kia Niro and Sportage, larger than I really want. The search goes on. It's always an option the keep the Venga as it has less than 12000 on the clock?

Sounds like a good day out ABM. It's blustery down on the Exe but the wind and kite surfers are happy (we've had to roll in our awning and take the wind break down!)

Not really I liked the Tour I’m an avid armchair follower of the big tours. Even the Tour de France didn’t cause anything like the road closures that this so called extravaganza has.

We only had the Tour de Yorkshire pass through the village once and that was interesting.

By the way I’m not one of those who call this great county God’s own, other equally great counties can make that claim. I much prefer the sobriquet “ the broad acres “ referencing as it does the fact that it’s the largest.

Although I heard a joke during lockdown. A Yorkshireman was out for a walk one day when he saw God in one of the fields and asked Him what He was doing. God replied He was working from home.

We too need ease of entry/exit but found the Niro had insufficient doorway headroom for us. The Kona, while not quite as easy as the ix20, was a close match for us - I appreciate we're all different. Best of all from that point of view was the Kia Soul but.....🙂

Lovely holiday photo brue. It is very breezy here today as well. Hopefully a good day for drying all the holiday washing.

My little Clio is 20 years old and has done just over 40,000 miles.  It belonged to my DIL's grandfather and as soon as he bought it he lost his courage for driving so sold it to me. It is a lovely little car.  I did think of buying a newer car a couple of years ago but it didn't seem worth it as I wasn't going anywhere during 2020 and then I thought I would wait until I had my cataract ops done and now of course they want silly prices for second hand cars these days so I just hope it keeps passing it's MOT,

Glad you had a good time with your grand-daughter H&T

Thanks David, I have to say if we weren't time limited on doing them I think we might have given up and gone to a photographer. What a palaver the site is. Never mind all part of life's trials to test us. We finally got a photo each that was 'fair' so hopefully they will pass OK. This may be our last renewal 🤔

Our night out to Arbroath went ok music a bit loud 🎧 I drove back, 11 years since I've done that drive and nighttime to. We got a fantastic display of lightning as we approached Dundee then followed it all the way across to Perth, never got caught up in it just the aftermath, roads all running with water.

OH hot the 3D printer sorted and set it working, went down this morning and a nice new pair of brackets have been printed 😊 only another 52 pairs to go 🤣. They take just under 5 hours to print the pair.

Dull, windy and wet today, where did summer go.

Just spoke to our son who is driving back down the road today with the gKids. Not a happy person, his VW transporter was broken into outside his in laws on Friday night. It was fully loaded having collected the kids from school that day. Laptop, chrome book, Xbox and games all taken. The police say a number of cars were done and they have CCTV footage so hopeful of catching them. No joy for our grandson though, they do have a police number so insurance hopefully will payout.

Right off to go food shopping while OH does his ironing.

Morning, if we had been playing cards at home this morning , I'd have been happy with a "full house" .Alas ours comprises of 3 straight positive COVID tests , youngest son on Friday , Yvonne yesterday and now me. Not at all happy 😭. Only saving grace is I can lay in bed listening to the test match. Stay safe everyone , it hasn't gone away.

We did just that Tg.  Ros needed a new photo for her driving licence and I must have tried a dozen different photos on-line - all of which were rejected for one reason or another. I announced that I'd had enough of the stupid system - so a quick call to a specified photographer in Beverley - appt for the next day and Ros came back with an electronic copy on a memory stick, a few hard copies and the magic code that had to be entered for it to be automatically downloaded by DVLA from the photographers server - or however they do it.  It was so simple in the end and all for not a lot of money.

Tough luck Trellis. Mrs WN tested herself last night after having a sore throat for 2 days. Fortunately it came out clear so she's back to gargling with salt and water.

Been trying to catch up with all of the jobs that needed doing after our return from the main holiday. Think we're nearly done apart from some gardening.

Been making appointments today. Bloods and car service in mid July, meal with cousins again for mid July, windscreen chip repair for Tuesday, appointment with local B/Soc for MiL to transfer Isa in. She currently has an online one and has to wait for me to sort it out so we've agreed that it would be best to have somewhere local she can pop into. Problem is the rates for Easy access are rubbish. Online ones not a lot better but there's no way she could cope with setting one up or administrating it. So we're off to town tomorrow. I've agreed to waive my fee🤣.

I remember being given a Venga to drive for the day whilst our Kia was in for some work and really enjoyed the experience. Tried to buy one when we were looking for a car for OH a few years ago but couldn't find one anywhere. Personally I'd keep any car that wasn't costing money, apart from the normal, and was reliable at the moment.

Just arrived on a lovely CL in the Dales, only to find we the 6th caravan and on the spare pitch!!!   We can move to a proper pitch on Tuesday when one leaves but I feel that we’ve lost a couple of days of our week away as we can’t set up awning etc so the car has to stay full of ‘stuff’!  I know there are more important problems in the world but it’s still disappointing and annoying!

Friends coming over for a bbq in a bit, might have to eat indoors though as chilly and windy outside. We only have to say bbq and it either rains or is cold. I’ve prepared all the different salads, marinated the meat and prepared the puds but of course by placing it on the bbq and turning it OH will have done all the work and cooking!

I feel a bit washed out and hungover today, I’m not, but we sat up late and watched Paul McCartney at Glastonbury last night, then someone’s barking dog woke us very early this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. OH is sound and snoring on the sofa at present. Sir McCartney might still be able to rock until late but afraid we can’t. Worth it though, he was just brilliant.

I watched a bit of Paul M but gave up, OH saw him pre-covid in London, son had free tickets and I think has just seen him live in Frome and Glastonbury. Will ask him all about it later! I'm not such a big fan, the years have gone by and dwindled the music. Will look at Diana Ross in a few minutes. They are amazing to still command such audiences.

Hope the Trellis family recover soon from Covid. I tested myself due to bad cold etc but OK, not so OK on first night here, wished I was at home no fun being away and feeling ill. Feeling a lot better on day four and had a nice lunch out today.

We are having an old fashioned sea side holiday, it's been good even if the weather has been mixed.

Hope your holiday improves Heddlo, sorry the start was not as expected, it does spoil things sometimes.

Now for Miss Ross and her music..🌞🎶

I think these websites must use algorithms to assess the photographs, what they really need is the human eye!

It's such a faff if you have to keep taking photo after photo. We couldn't see anything wrong with the majority of them. The problem we had was it wasn't a sunny day so inside the house it was coming back photo to dark (it wasn't) eventually the sun came out and round the house in just the right place to shine in the window onto a blank wall😅

    DK, totally agree.

We are back to rain, wind and cold. Heating back on for a few hours the house is very chilly.

We are sweltering here on the Sandringham CCC site, as we were in York and at Haggerston.  Hardly any rain at all since we left home, but quite windy in some areas.

Things back home are not so good......  DD's MIL has Covid........little Nathan has Chicken Pox....... no doubt caught from Callum, who picked it up at nursery.  At least he will be over it before they go away on holiday.

Site here is huge, and was very busy when we arrived on Saturday, but lots of outfits left this morning, so plenty of empty pitches now. At least  now we can actually get logged onto the free site wifi, was impossible yesterday.  Phone signal on 3 is too poor here to use our own internet.

Yes, when our efforts were rejected.."poor image in black and white" I argued with the algorithm that the photo was OK and was in colour, Mr Algo Rithm didn't object. wink The trouble is it can still get rejected further down the line. A photo booth image is useful if there is one nearby but our efforts turned out to be OK.

I would be well miffed Heddlo. Is the spare not very good? I know some CLs have a spare so they can rotate, but never been on one where you couldn’t put an awning up.

Yes the spare is fine and we can use an awning as long as it doesn’t spoil the grass, fair enough, and we still have a lovely view.  It’s just me being picky about preferring a hardstanding for the awning.  .  Don’t CL’s need to keep to 5 vans anymore?  It’s just disappointing when we booked last October and had been preparing (in my head) for this week.  Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️.

When my husband  turned 70 and had to have a photo driving license, we tried doing it ourselves, but it was rejected. So in the absence of a working photo booth in town, we went to Timpsons, and they did a very professional job, with a system that checked online to see if it was OK. So when my turn came later in the year we went back to them. No hassle, and very reasonable and friendly.

Over the river Exe today on the Starcross ferry, past the big Dawlish Warren nature reserve (human visitors only no dogs) and on to Starcross itself. There is a long gang plank style walk, steps and a railway bridge from which  to exit the ferry and not much in Starcross to tempt intrepid explorers on foot. However we found the old "Atmospheric Railway Inn" was open all day and that saved us from starvation and thirst. Brunel didn't quite make it with this railway idea but as he had a nice home nearby it must have been worth thinking about whilst enjoying the local  scenery. 🚂🚃

Not much wrong with it Brue. We enjoy that area ourselves and there is even a chance we might end up there come Autumn time. No plans yet though. Where are you staying?

A morning of running MiL around, firstly to sort out her Isa then back home with her for an early lunch before she got a call from the chiropodist as someone had cancelled and she was next on the list so a quick dash back to town.

Finished off cleaning the caravan (sides and front) in the afternoon. Got nabbed by a few neighbours who we haven't seen since we got back so the job stretched a bit. Hoping to get some gardening done tomorrow but forecast doesn't look promising.

After a very cool weekend a bit warmer today at 21C after a very wet night and thunderstorm, garden better from the rain nearly 20mm in 24 hours.

had to do some shopping as we needed some paint for the 2 walls in the bedroom not enough left in 1st tub so only place was a diy store in Villefranche and oh so quiet with not many folk about makes a change and still wearing our masks as covid cases going up again in time for summer holidays, rest of shopping done and back home before local rush hour ha ha.

Possibility of the Government bringing mask wearing again on public transport all to be discussion in the next week.

Hopefully I will get out in the garden Tuesday as weather looking better and a lot to do deadheading and some grass cutting and a general tidy up.

Some friends of ours left a message to say at last they can collect new motorhome to them on 15th July so a longish day for us as they have asked us to take them to the dealers just outside Toulouse and also some stuff for the motorhome as they plan to stay in it for 1 night to check everything works, they will pay for fuel to help out, of course it is a Friday and day after Bastille day so there will be a lot of folk going on holiday so could be a bit busy with traffic so will use the main roads rather than autoroute will finalise tings this Saturday when we will see them here.

After a quick wash down last week after our month in France, I applied myself to removing the residual insect population from the roof section at the front of the van and applying a bit of polish although the GRP seems more 'satin' than 'gloss'. Always an awkward place to reach and my calf muscles are decidedly tender this morning.
