Oh brue commiserations on the dentist. Hope things are settling down now?
Good steady rain here for must of the day, just what the gardens ordered.
Hopefully I'll be able pull out the sycamore seedlings, good idea to pot them up brue will do for the smaller one I find. I have at least 3 to remove that are nigh on 3 foot tall and an elder brush which is similar 😱. Once they're out I'm happy to sit back and watch things develop.
Glorious now so off out with the dog 🐕. OH and her came back rather damp this morning, light rain but very penetrative.

Well we are now on site just below Angers for 2 nights and weather very warm when we got here yesterday so when we went shopping today at a huge LeClerc managed to get a new swimming costume as the site has 2 lovely pools so did have a swim earlier and the only one in it even better and feel more relaxed after the 4 hour trip yesterday, weather today is much cooler and a nice breeze so hope we sleep better than last night plus the headache I had has now gone did not drink enough fluids yesterday, off to a site just below Limoges on Thursday for 3 nights then home on Sunday and it looks like a hot week next week for chores to be done.
Enjoy your breaks folks and take care.

Good to hear from you TG. Glad things going ok for you. We like Noirmoutier but generally only visit, albeit quite often when in the area, from the mainland, usually stopping a bit inland near Challans.
Enjoying ourselves here this first week. Out for a long walk around a nearby nature reserve, just for a change😀, no parking fee, no entrance fee. Quite a few different habitats and lovely sunshine with a fair breeze blowing. Legs not quite "ciggy white" anymore!

So pleased that everything is working out well for you Bakers2 and that you are so happy with your new abode and garden. It sounds as though your garden is going to be very productive.
Good to hear that TG, WN and RK are having safe and happy travels. I hope your forthcoming trip goes well nellie.
We have a funeral to go to in Co. Durham at the end of the month. In fact it will be 2 funerals. OH's uncle died in April 2020. Not covid related just old age as he was 93. Of course they couldnt have the funeral they would have wanted as very few people allowed to attend. Now his wife has died so they are going to have a 'proper' funeral and the following day they are going to mingle both sets of ashes together and scatter them. As our son in NI is the godson of OH's uncle he has decided to fly over for a few days and drive us up there which is lovely. We now have to find somewhere to stay which could be difficult as it is during half term!
We have had good steady rain most of the day which has really done the garden good.

We are in Scotland😁 Good drive up, bit of rain but nothing too heavy. Our first Britstop, and oh my, have we dropped on. Gorgeous location, lots of room, taps, waste and a picnic table. Edge of Solway Firth, so views are magnificent. Just us and one other PVC. Weather turned beautiful yesterday afternoon, so it was dog walk around castle, dined outside and then a cycle ride to another castle. Quiet peaceful night, nothing but the odd vehicle passing and birdsong this morning. Absolute perfection for us.

Well! What a day yesterday for my birthday.....
First, two funerals on the same day at 2 different places, within 15 minutes of each other...., both folk I know so had to make a choice.....
Secondly, a message to say Carol's mum had been taken to hospital with a bleed behind her eye.... they didn't keep her in but needs a day op next Wednesday.
Thirdly, quickly went to do a bit of shopping. On the way back stopped at the Co-Op to get one or two things. I went in the Co-Op, Carol went a couple of hundred yards up the road to the postbox. Apparently, on the way back she tripped.. cut her forehead and has hurt her wrist. A lady helped her back to the car. Ended up going to A&E to get her checked out.... all appears to be OK, but we were there from 5.20pm to 11.35pm.....
Too late to have a birthday tea... and we were even too late to order a takeaway.....
Today hasn't started too well either..... a 9am dental appointment. When I arrived, the receptionist apologised and told me the de test had just rung in sick.... have had to re-book...
.....things aren't looking good for tomorrow..... Friday 13th!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh crikey David, what a day for you all but belated Birthday greetings and I hope the "injured parties" recover well.
OH and I have just had our hair cut, one after the other, OH much quicker as there isn't much to cut!
Nice to hear you've found a good spot to overnight TDA.
Millie i expect you'll be glad to have a driver to the family funeral, it's a long haul up there.
Last efforts to get our garden in some sort of order and the long awaited path finished. OH has some help this morning, then we can go away leaving someone to keep going with the remaining jobs.
Like TDA we're heading north soon, lovely time of the year to see some gardens up there, we get two Springs for the price of one...

Thanks Brue.... Yesterday was one of those days when I just had to have a chuckle to myself, smile and just carry on and take the day for what it was... Everyone appears to be OK... Carol is a bit sore after the fall and the mother-in-law's op is scheduled in.... I think it's about time we went away in the van again!! 🤣🤣🤣

Just think David Friday the 13th. couldn't be much worse. Good luck though.
Had a smashing bike ride today out through woods, alongside large canals and past some very swank houses to a coffee and cake stop in a really pretty and well managed little nature reserve.
The Dutch really know how to accommodate the bike. All 20+ miles and not one bit of road. All expertly signed. Bike heaven.
Lovely weather, sunny but a gusty warm breeze from time to time.
Good to read you got away Ttda.👍
Off tomorrow further north.

The physio .have said she is now mobile and can be released? It seems that has stuck in her mind, as I had a phone call at 0100 this morning, from a very upset OH via a nurse say where was I she was ready to come home, the nurse said they had been trying to convince her she should stay until morning with them ,she taken her cricket splint off got dressed and they could not convince her I could not come for her, ,it was only when I managed to make her realise, that I do not do night driving she calmed down, and said she would see mee later
We have a meeting with the release team at 1015 tomorrow. With the options as they say it is not safe to release her to me without some help

Oh goodness David what a birthday!! I am glad that the family members seem to be on the mend. I hope you get your birthday meal soon.
I do hope things improve for you and your OH soon JVB. It seems to be going from bad to worse at the moment.
You sound as though you have found a gem of a site Tda. So glad you are having a good time
Yes brue It is quite a treck up to Co Durham from here. However we used to go up and back in a day when FIL was still alive. We used to drive up take him out to lunch then a drive round the Dales which he loved, then drive home and go to work the next day. Mind you we were a lot younger then! So yes we are very glad to have a driver this time. We have booked a hotel in Barnard Castle for overnight. Perhaps we should go to Specsavers 😁.
Enjoy your next leg of your trip WN.
Sorry to hear about your grand-daughter/football accident OP. Hope you are on the mend.

Good wishes to all those having medical mishaps. No wifi here on our second site, so doing more reading than posting, tethered to my phone. On a lovely CL not far from Stranraer. Edge of a small loch, no noise but birds, lovely individual little pitches. A proper no fuss, well landscaped little gem. Four times what we paid last night mind🤣 But still half the price of a Club Site. We came across a few more MH stop off locations on way over, including CDP emptying points, so quite impressed so far with Scotland’s efforts for tourers. We have nothing booked after this, might just wing it again from Monday. Bike ride tomorrow hopefully👍

Ye Gawds, what a rough time some of you have been having
- think I'll stay in bed tomorrow just to be on the safe side, Well I was going to trim a couple of bushes which are giving me a shower every time I try to get past them but I'll just tell the birds to fill their own tubes, tubs and bowls and leave me out of it !Hope you all have an accident / incident free day and that any problems especially wrt "meds" and Clinicians are satisfactorily resolved
TtDA, and there was Brian thinking that only them youngsters were tethered to their mobile phones

Good Luck with your counting David

I don't know what an accident prone lot
blow me if our helper whilst we are away hasn't gone and fallen over on the road outside and will now be hobbling round but he's determined to carry on. Do hope all these breakages and sprains improve soon....must watch where I'm going having written that on this auspicious day!!If you were looking in at the "pudding" show does the winning pud appeal? I would like to taste it but I'm not sure I'll volunteer to make it for our street party as some will now have to have a go. Prefer something chocolatey or with red fruits (pips always a problem!) but it did look good, well done that person! 🧁🧁🧁

Yes, I was interested in the pud. Didn’t think that Lemon and Amaretti sounded a good combination at first, but it’s primarily citrus flavours with the Amaretti crumbled on top, so yes, think it should be nice. Easy for anyone to replicate as well, which was part of the idea👍
Just back from a very nice bike ride. Some big hills in places, and I only fell off once (what I call a mere squeaker, rather than a laid out moaning in pain🤣) Stiff wind though, hard work riding into it. No damage done to me or the bike.

Well OH has been given the all clear to be discharged to home ? Once a care package has been found ,.which would involve two carers three time a day that are qualified to remove and replace cricket splints, only problem is now getting carers as the discharge team have 10 patients ready for discharge from the Hospital in this town alone, and others from other areas also waiting care package's,

Glad to hear you are not injured TDA.

I like your avatar, is that the bike you were riding and is that your house in the background?

Forgot to mention from yesterday.
It's a running joke that no matter where I am abroad someone somewhere will in the first day or so ask for directions from me. I must look like a friendly sort, is my reply to Mrs WNs giggles. Well it happened yesterday on our bike ride. Hardly a soul around and this elderly man with a white beard wearing an Orange outfit of trousers and a puffa type coat topped off with a pure white straggly beard stopped us as he was cycling in the opposite directions to us. We produced a cycling map for him as he was lost on the way to the "Nudist Beach" It was blowing about 30mph with enough bite to ensure a cockle didn't leave its shell. Transpires he was heading to the same place as we were. Fortunately for us he meant "Nature Reserve" or at least we hope he did.
"Typical" said Mrs WN. "You must have a sign above your head. Stop me and ask directions as I'm new here."

Took a slightly longer way to our new campsite today in view of the 40 mph gusts forecast so we strayed a bit inland rather than take the coastal route. Everything worked out fine.
We took our time but still managed to arrive a bit early as there was a 3 hour gap between leaving time to arriving time and only 65 miles between the 2. Had a leisurely lunch en route but when we arrived the kind owner just signed us in rather than have us sit there waiting. It's a beautiful little site with hedged pitches and surprisingly for us fully serviced. All at ACSI rates of €16 a night. About 50 pitches but in 5 separate little areas. We set up and found the local Co-Op which will serve us well for the 6 nights we are here. Wind died down this evening so we have put up our sun canopy awning. Only the third time in the last year..
The cycling map given to us by the owner looks inviting so we shall venture forth on the bikes tomorrow. Hopefully avoiding a "Ttda".

I survived unscathed, which is rather good for me.😂 It was a big drop off tarmac at side of road that got me this time, but the landing was thick grass, so I bounced well. OH is currently trying to work out why I have that cyclist’s oily ring on the wrong leg🤣 🤷♀️ I offered to let him do a big ride on his own on Sunday, while I just did a shortie into Stranraer, but no, a route worked out to Portpatrick instead. It will no doubt have some hills😬 However, it’s a bonus if I don’t have to do ploughed fields and lots of gravel. I don’t like gravel😱
I am wondering if you can see a different avatar Nevers? I did try to change it a few days ago, but all I can see is the pooch luring down the birds playing dead on the lawn?
Edit…..I am guessing that you can see the photo I wanted to use Nevers, pooch in his chariot, lovely gardens at Forde Abbey? All I can see is upside down dog in my garden at home. Strange. I have cleared my cache, so that’s not the problem. Website says I am logged in, but keeps asking me for password to log in🤷♀️🤷♀️ Typical of this website🙄

Easy drive up yesterday and spotted a couple of good laybys that will come in handy if we come this way again as we can then set off earlier and instead of having lunch before we leave have it en route and give Flyte short walk too. Site between 1/2 and 2/3 full, with all H/S pitches regardless of what it says on the website!! Very few additional units in tonight.
Drove over to Ennerdale Water today and thought we might do the circuit of the lake but the path on the south side was too rocky, and exposed in places, for Flyte in his current state, so returned by most of the out route. However he did very well all told. Got to talking to a Canadian couple who were on their second day on the Coast to Coast walk, which they had postponed for 2 yrs because of Covid. They had previously done both the Dales and Strathspey Ways.

Just having a quick read.
Takethedogalong I've been seeing your new avatar for several days, maybe longer I loose track! No cache clearing. When I go to log in it doesn't retain my password and I'm often asked to accept cookies since all the 'esstential maintenance ' has been going in. As you say it's this site 🤐. Hope you fair better on your ride tomorrow. Have you thought about stabilisers or a tricycle? 😉😱🤣
Good to read other's news.
Sycamores removed, brue I been asked to keep them for DIL to repopulate farm spinneys, wish you were closer I'd be able to give her birch too. One person's rubbish someone else's treasure!
Really beginning to take my foot off the pedal more now 😀 new dishwasher arrived and fitted today - I'd forgotten the joy of an unencumbered dishwasher 😆. Dishes have even come out clean - result!

OH, F5 of course -- And I can see a dog in a Chariot Too

.Had I asked myself 'how to' before my nap then perhaps........................

P.S. / Edit -- did you join in the cycle racing round the streets of Stranraer today, Ttda ??
0 -
I have been seeing tda's new avatar for several days as well. Everytime I log in on my phone it now asks for my password but not on my PC🤔.
Glad you have managed to get away nellie and that Flyte seems to be coping. Hope the trip goes well.
Beautiful sunny day here. We did a lot of gardening yesterday so might sit and admire it. OH had to take the lawnmower back to our garden centre yesterday as it suddenly decided to stop working and even though he used to be an engineer he couldnt mend it. Luckily it was still just in it's 3 year guarantee period so exchanged it for a bettet one - result!
