Glorious day here.
Dried some washing, dug out yet another!, rouge sycamore hiding in a shrub, this one was 3 foot, so I could see it above the shrub when I really looked. Cut the 3 grass areas, OH did it before, I describe them as undulating 😉. OH turned over another raised bed. Something has had our baby blackbird 🥲.
🤞🤞🤞 fingers crossed the kitchen drains seem to be emptying better..... my brother thinks the lack of an overflow won't be help, as it usually aids drainage. Apparently you can have a vent in an outgoing pipe that allows air in but doesn't allow water out. I doubt we have one of those.
New dishwasher coming Friday as the one left here was apparently missing a stopper, but the top shelf collapses and it doesn't clean well, so gone for a cheaper new one, mind you the more expensive ones I fancied were all out of stock. So maybe the plumber will be able to see then.
Played hookey this afternoon, took OH for a haircut and beard trim, he was disappointed no hot towels or nice smells, but wasn't a Turkish barbers 😆. We've yet to locate one that is spacious and airy, not that we've looked much - just a cabin in an old container, done up very nicely, outside a large Tesco. We then went onto Crown Lakes for a nosey, also checked out where the vets is, Dora going Thursday. Just past ScrewFix where I've been a few times.
We're going to have cuppa and cake out but it was getting near 4pm and so much closes around then in this country. So home for tea and I stopped at our local Nisa to buy nice cake and get cash.
Going to change and go finish the last raised bed. OH has planted out the strawberry plants, a couple of tomato plants and transplanted some lettuces. I want to get some seeds in before its too late including runner beans. I got some lovely, but lots of sweetpea seedlings yesterday and I'll have the big bed by the garage for those. Greenhouse is ready for stuff too.
The flower borders are proving interesting as things are coming on, so looking forward to watching them develop but they do need a good weed, that will come soon when the forget me nots come out. I've resisted plant buying, I have plenty we bought with us to 'house' but I have bought some cosmos to dot about.
Good toread folks news, home and away, enjoy whatever you're doing!
ABM I sincerely hope you dressed before you hightailed it to buy a new immersion 😱😱😱🥶🥶🥶

Busy day for us. Up at 5.45am (😱) to drop OH down to station for tramtrain into Sheffield. He has had his pre op now, all good to go, no fitness test this time, they know how fit he is🤣 Jumping through all COVID hoops before admission is going to be fun, but it’s good to know they are so strict.
Rest of day spent fettling garden to leave, so house sitter only has to water, packing MH with more things, tidying house up and a few other tasks. I have booked our second CL, good job I did as it’s popular by the sound of things. We shall wing it for our first night stop, then decide where to move onto for our third stop. Pooch is due at Vets in Sheffield tomorrow, once that’s sorted we are good to go at our leisure.
That must be interesting Bakers, watching an unknown garden come back to life. I put some home grown Cosmos plants in today, they do give such a lot back. Passed some plants onto a neighbour, they have just got a gorgeous fluffy little Lhasa pup, bold little thing. Already bossing their older Lhasa around🤣 It’s all of nine inches tall. Met up with some horsey friends while out on a dog walk as well, haven’t seen them for a while.

Dental appointments for both of us today although OH's got changed at the last minute and I have another one on Wednesday. We've had so many delays with appointments it's been a real nuisance and not done our teeth much good.
Hope all goes well for your OH TDA and you both have a good break in Dumfries and Galloway, we used to go there a lot when we had family there.
DSB, looks as though the family will be enjoying some fresh pickings from the sea.
Hope the WNs continue to find some nice places, it all sounds good "over there." My sister and BIL are off to France, BF informed them they are short staffed so no restuarant on the crossing but I expect the self service will be ok. So many things are not quite as before due to staffing levels.
Just sorting out our own trip, mostly paid for in advance and this time I've decided not to go loaded with food and get things as we go along. Booths will be my saviour!

Just a qwik visit this morning now that the world & it's immersion heater is all functioning well again
then it's all systems go for visits to Aged Sister { and probably to meet her visiting stupid whippet & its owner] and later to one of my oldest friends to see if they have recovered yet from the latest week away in their trailer tent !!Strange to look up and see a beautiful blue sky with so few vapour trails, I seem to recall days long gone when we could not see clouds for the great number of trails up there !!
Take Care, Have Fun, Keep Shopping

Hoping when I press 'Reply' I will be 50000th poster!!! On Sunday door lock failed on my caravan and we are away next week on a 6 week trip ending in Italy. Tried all the tips on 'You Tube' to sort it out but to no avail. It is the part on the inside of the door not the barrel. Local dealer did not have one and 'problem with supply' they said. Bailey Spares (Prima) came up trumps. Ordered on Sunday, despatched yesterday to arrive today so will fit in when it arrives and hope nothing else gives me a last minute problem. Still at 49996 posters so will press Reply and see what happens.

Just back from two weeks at our static van. Very relaxing, son and family came for a day, we listened to a good band outside the clubhouse in the sun and then they stayed for a bbq. A meal out with my cousin and her husband and an evening meal at a friends house. We caught up with the neighbours both ‘old’ and new. We had a couple of days out and visits to garden centres, along with the obligatory coffee and cake. I put lots of bedding plants in tubs, our lovely neighbour said she would water if needed. Stratford was very busy at the weekends, even more so than usual, I think that people are still getting over lockdown and like to be out more now. We never get bored with the town and it’s parks, always somewhere to wander to. All of this was just what we needed after the house hunting and being outbid so many times. We have taken our house off the market, we may try again in the autumn, now that we are aware of how it works now and the fact that almost everything goes for much higher than the asking price and the full and final bids system. OH has dentist today and fourth covid jab tomorrow. I’m off to Tesco now, if we want to eat tonight.

Not quite at 50,000 yet We're on page 4996. As there are 10 posts to a page, at the bottom of this page, the last post will be 49960 - so 4 more pages of 10 before we reach 50,000 - if my maths are correct! 😀😀
....now I suspect we've started a competition for who gets the 50,000th post... 🤣🤣🤣
David
Edit: I make this post number: 49958....

Indeed, Brue. I have to say, I'm not a particular fan of fish - prefer a nice steak myself, 🤣🤣. They did enjoy a fishy BBQ that evening...
These days, when we go away in the caravan, we tend only to take enough food for the evening meal when arrive and some milk and cereal. We keep teabags and sugar, salt and pepper in the van anyway, but we usually pop out to the shops once we have set up... or the next day.
David
P.S. Even Euan had a bit of fish... but what really likes is pasta and tomato sauce... 🤣🤣🤣

Didn't start the day too well as I managed to trip the electric, all 6 amps of it. First time we've had the Alde heating system and been abroad. At least that's the best excuse I could make. Anyway nice owner kindly opened the box and reset it for me (locked box before someone mentions it)
After that excitement we headed out locally again and did some more birdwatching but with a walk built in. Enjoyed it as usual. Back to site mid afternoon for a well earned shower and coffee.
Hope all ok with OHs trip to pre op Ttda.

Had a bit of an eventful morning. Currently staying on a CS near Thornton Le Dale (between Malton and Pickering for those that don't know the area!) We went into Malton, this morning for a wander round the shops and a coffee. Now - there is a wonderful shop in Malton called Yates - "Yateses" to the locals - which sells absolutely everything - and I mean 'everything'. In fact - if they don't have it - it probably doesn't exist.
Big sign outside - "Dogs Welcome" - so in we go with Meg on a lead to which Ros is hanging onto. Just inside - amongst farming equipment, kitchen bits and pieces, clothing, etc etc, is a shelf - at ground level containing.........chocolate!
As quick as a flash, a whole Cadbury's Cream Egg - complete with foil wrapper is in Meg's mouth and down her throat.
It's not the first time she has stolen chocolate so I am hoping she will be alright - but we are just waiting for the consequences

She is a pig!

I can't work out the "count" either but just now it says 49963.

DSB I think you ought to partake of some fish, I bet they'll be getting the odd lobster or langoustine up there, such good cold waters. I can see Euan is well into pasta!

Debsc, sounds like you had a relaxing break and hope the changes to your house move plans work out well.
R&R. Hope there are no after effects for Meg, our old family staffie once ate one of those huge Christmas boxes of chocolates, I think she had a strong constitution...she also ate the special Crufts Breed Book on loan to us from her breeders (who had won at Crufts.) They became life long friends of my parents, I don't know why as we had all sorts of disasters with their progeny and she certainly wasn't "show" quality either!
🐶Good luck to all venturing forth. I'm wondering if we'll see visitors from abroad this year as we head north soon.

Have just returned home from a 5 nighter at Grafham Water , what a charming site well worth a visit if you haven't been before. We were fortunate to see the semi resident horned owl most mornings , now he is a stunning creature.😁

We saw our first overseas visitors last month brue, shared a night on a CL with them. From Germany, they were heading back down to Dover having had a month over here.
Just back from vets. Three hours thanks to traffic and having to wait for blood test results. Vets are lovely though, and it’s only once every six months. Which is a good job as it wasn’t cheap😲

I hope Meg is ok. They can be so quick if they spot something deliciously poisonous.

These amateur campers😁 Good to hear you are settled in.
Pre op went fine thanks. He came home with a huge bag of protein shakes, and a long list of COVID checks. It’s going to be fun. Our best friend is in same hospital at moment, they have isolated his ward twice now because someone had COVID. Basically it’s patients into lockdown, Ward sanitised from top to bottom, and no visitors. Thankfully it has kept our friend safe, but he’s into week four now in there, and no end in sight yet. Everything gets delayed, put back etc….. I shall be testing before every visit I make.

About 50 LV units on the ferry to the Netherlands on Sunday.Just 3 from the UK, the rest, well almost, were from the Netherlands themselves returning home, most of them with children, before the schools reopened yesterday. There are a few Public Holidays towards the end of April/beginning of May that get elongated as schools close for a while so the Dutch make hay.
All of them seemed in a happy mood but we were still playing the distance game.

Enjoy AD. It’s a rip roaring ride in more ways than one.

Having had no word of when I might expect to get the call for my OP We have decided to head off in the van again, so on Thursday we're going to Dockray Meadow for a week, as it has been a long while since we were last there. From there we have a few nights booked on a new to us CL near Dumfries. Hope to be out until just before the bank holiday.
Good to read that you're have a good time in Holland, WN, with lots of wildlife spotted.
Others away also seem to be enjoying their trips, long may that continue.

have been having a few problem's with hospital "systems"
1 for 3days all OHs meds were on her table beside bed, the some one decided. that they should be locked in drugs cabinet beside bed
2 Antibiotic issued by urgent care centre to be taken 3times a day not has not been given as not on the system? found out when not given on drugs round ,and so she was not given antibiotics for three days as I insisted on counting them
3 OH had appointment on Monday with plastic .department so on Sunday checked that porter was ordered to take her to her appointment ,no information about it was available?
4 Monday checked again ,ward manager checked the ordered porter (I was not allowed to take her as special wheel chair needed? Got to department to find out that inpatients. were not dealt , they were seen by a different team?
5 even after going to plastics reception again and being assured the other team? were aware ,they had still not been yesterday ,the back of OHs hand is held together by strips of plastic? That injury is now 9days since accident happened, before her fall two days llater

Oh my heart goes out to you JVB.
Nothing seems to have changed in the 3 years since I was sharing your exasperation over 'care and medication' in hospital.
When he 1st went in I had bizarre phone calls from him, WHEN I eventually got hold of a 3rd member of staff - it outside visiting hours, it turned out he had a very temperature it was flu and he was hallucinating, but not recognised by medically trained folk! They dismissed what I was saying even after a 'chat' with him..
As for the pills, similar. When they were dispensed they were 'poked' at by the dispenser and left on the table, no one ever checked they'd been taken 🤐😤. I notice now that a few of his meds say specialist prescribed so they're obviously costly and GP's don't like that...... Then when it comes to discharge all pills are locked in the locker and it takes 6 hours for someone with a key to release them 🤔
I can feel my exasperation rising as I read and think about his treatment. Pills upset his stomach VERY badly, their answer wear a nappy 🤬🤬 2 months in total isolation, endless expensive tests. Thank goodness the bulk of that is over 🤞🤞.
Takethedogalong got luck to your OH.
I often wonder, well I don't because I know the outcome, for those poor folk who have o one in their corner.

Good to read folks news, home and away. Continue enjoying.
Gentle rain here this morning, the first since we arrived, and very welcome it is to. Both worked really hard to get vegetables plants and seeds in yesterday in view of forecast rain.
Every bed I check has some beauties coming but loads of self seeded sycamores some getting on for 3 foot hidden in shrubs aswell as elder bushes. Massive thistles and dandelions. Ivy everywhere too. My fingers are itching but I will get there.
Cleaner coming this morning, she's great, will help with anything so I'm really getting straight. Then I can indulge myself in the garden.
DEBSC good luck on house situation. I realise that not getting the first one was a blessing in disguise, all things are done for a reason. It will happen when the time is right. Not easy to live with, if like me your impatient and like control 🤐🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy your day folks

That's just over a week now since we left home.
Weather was awful on the way down to Kendal and again the next day going down to Birmingham area. It did clear up that afternoon and we had a pleasant evening there, we stayed at a C&CC site Kingsbury water park. Drive down to Portsmouth was good, stopped in at Port Solent for a meal before going round to ferry for the overnight sailing. Crossing was calm and weather fine.
First campsite in France was at Angers for 3 days then we came across to the coast and onto I'll de Normoutier, weather has been lovely and sunny with temps around 23c. Was only going to stay a few days but it was so nice yesterday we've added a few more days on and shall move on Sunday. Typical today is overcast.
Our friends are settling into the swing of things over here, first few days were a bit stressful but getting better. This site is a big one and they have added lots more cabins and big tents since we were last here. We are on a huge pitch by the beach.
Hope to go for a cycle this afternoon but it's a bit blowy so will see.
Good to hear the WNs have arrived in the Netherlands Ok.
Garden sounds lovely Bakers it's exciting waiting to see whats going to come through.

JVB, sorry to hear of your struggles at the hospital but thankfully you are around to check on these things, do hope you will be posting better news soon! Best wishes.
B2 self seeded trees...we get a lot of birches! We sometimes let them grow on and then pot them up for plant sales. It's surprising how many peple are looking for trees at plant sales but I suppose they are a lot cheaper than nursery bought ones. There's no rush with your garden and I hope you'll get time to enjoy it!
I've just had a long session at the dentist, two fillings, ages since I had a filling, horrible!
