Every thing was going well until Friday then had some very worrying phone calls from OH late in the evening saying she was in pain and could not move her left(injured)leg spoke to nurse after first call ,she said had given pain killers ,but nothing else?,,second call from OH said still uncomfortable and nurse had said to not keep pressing call button? I took it as the cricket splint was restricting movement

Caught earlier bus to arrive by 0800 ,as ward locked with no access untill then(access by call button only)  asked day staff how OH had been overnight ?they had not had any negative feedback

When I saw OH she looked in distress and repeated she could not move her left leg ,when I looked her foot was at a strange angle ,,called day shift staff nurse who took one look and called doctor after getting permission to administer morphine  ,,being a Sat fewer staff on but a doctor arrived in two hours later and ordered an urgent xray ,,results showing her hip had dislocated again and she was immediately taken to theatre

She was much relaxed today but as it is still the weekend unable to have visit from physio

We have made an official complaint about her treatment (or lack of )by the night staff

It doesn't rain but it pours JVB.

Shocking treatment by the night staff. I suppose this means that previous plans will have to be put on hold, although they didn't seem to be planned very well.

Oh goodness JVB that is appalling lack of care and treatment by the staff. I do hope they will take better care in the future. I really fear for those who have no-one to look out for them.

I understand from the discharge team member there is a large shortfall of care staff (Not us unpaid carers)  she says in her area where we live, ten inpatients waiting care packages before they can be released including OH,,and the doctors have said we have quite a few more at this hospital ,but we refuse to call them bed blockers as it is not in any way their fault they cannot be released

untill OH has been now given a new release date we are in limbo as to the future

So the recently acquired. PVC stays unused for its main purpose

Oh JVB I'm so sorry to read your post. Glad to read you've put in a complaint it takes so much effort when you've other things to concentrate on!

Best wishes to you and your OH, be very prepared to have to press hard on the complaint front. But take good care of yourself.

Nice to read others news and see their photos.

       Thank you B2

When I had an accident at work many years ago, it took seven years of fighting obstructive persons who tried to close ranks until I got a positive result , and my daughter (OHs step daughter)who is also on the case is not likely to give up either

This is horrific reading JV, I am so sorry that your poor OH has suffered so much. Next time you go in, get a look at the patient notes that should be by her bedside, and make notes on what they say for the night she was in pain. Write everything you can down, noting the date time and if possible staff initials. Plus any conversations you have with staff. We learnt to do this very early on with Dad, as the communication between shifts wasn’t very good. Things got so bad with Dad, that eventually we took to staying with him, as much as possible, feeding him when he couldn’t manage, etc…. Hospital was so short staffed they were glad for us to do it, but of course it’s difficult now. You can request a feed chart if your OH isn’t good at eating, keep an eye out for weight loss, Dad lost loads first time he was in. I hope things get sorted for you asap. Too many agency staff in hospitals nowadays.

It’s a countrywide crisis to be honest, another dual whammy due to Brexit and COVID. Folks can earn more and work a lot less hard working for the likes of Tesco, Aldi and Amazon, can’t blame them for going for the easy option. Care crisis has been coming for decades, but nothing done about it, and it knocks on to affect hospitals. Like Millie, I really fear for those who have no one to help them.

The patient notes I have been informed are confidential? ,as I was looking at them earlier when she had her first operation and they were withdrawn the ward she is now in , the patients records? are in a rack near the entrance to the ward, not on the end of the beds as in the past

I tend to spend at least eight hours with OH ,as the visiting is 0800_2000 max two visitors at a time,, the day staff on this ward are very good especially the black staff nurse ,who is very efficient and nothing seems any trouble

OH is now in a four bed ward with it seems those who are nearing discharge, so there is always new patient's

So sorry to hear of your OH's problems,  JVB. Hope that they can soon sort out the correct  care package for her. All the best.

It looks as if we have had the best of the weather today, with warm sunshine  and little  wind.  We had another walk today along part of the C2C route on a disused  tramway.

A few photos  especially  for M of our last 3 days out. Cogra Moss looking towards  Blake Fell, Ennerdale Water looking East, and Rowrah Hall.

Great photos Nellie. Beautiful scenery. Like moulesy I do like to see where people are.

Such good advice from bakers2 for you JVB. Unfortunately she speaks from experience. I do feel that the NHS should be a proper 7 day service and not have a reduced service at the weekend. Illness doesnt stop at the weekends. I do so hope things now improve for your OH and you.

Lovely photos folks. Thank you, if only it wasn't so time consuming to post them and I had some I might add to them 🤣.

Owing to a restless night I remembered the lunar eclipse when I saw the full moon just after 3am. Pulled back the blinds and watched from bed. Saw it partially eclipse then lost myself 😤. Actually soon after I'd pulled the blind up OH said have you seen the moon? So he caught a glimpse too. We had a lit of rain overnight and it was still raining about 0230 so we were very lucky to get a really clear view.

Anyone else manage to see it? Apparently it was complete at 0330 so doubly cross I lost myself at the 'wrong moment.

To add to the nights delight 😉 the fire alarm batteries must be going cos something made a noise just before 0500.  Dog not bothered and it stopped after a couple of bleeps. I was out of bed checking everything at 0515 as it happened again. So when tge alarm went off at 0700 I was sound asleep! We have a heating engineer coming at 0900 to balance the radiators we suspect that's the source of the pipe banging!

Naturally like most things in this house fire alarm not in a sensible place, very close to allow a tumble down the stairs. Tested it when more awake, and a suitable implement to press the button found. It was our sound. Now need to get that sorted. Occurred to me we should have tested on arrival...

I tested the CO2 one but I think I'll replace both just had a ougeon hit the window fortunately few off again.

Happy Monday Enjoy your day folks.

A morning spent walking around near the local lake finding frogs, dragonflies and Migrant Black Terns.

We were able to have a walk around an area that had been used to cultivate reed for thatch and the centre had made a near 2 mile walk way around it. We did have to do some work to get over some of the waterways as shown in the photos. There was a lovely pump on the marsh which contained quite a few Marsh Frogs that had lovely green stripes down their back. When we returned to photograph them they'd gone for a lie down. Might try and get back before we leave the area. The Black Terns were quite lovely.

Did some food shopping and back for lunch when the weather changed for the worse but little rain to moment of writing.

We've managed to use the car for a total of 3 miles since arriving on Friday. Strange seeing the price of petrol exceeding that of diesel by a good €0.20 a litre over here. Diesel is about the same price give or take a few centimes.

Cost of food seems slightly higher than at home as well.

Glad all sorted triky auto.  WN just checked the rose festival and it is on this year after two years  off on 14th to 17th July, we actually had some rose beds on the site at Brissac even some David Austin roses from the UK a lovely site and hope to get back there next year.

Will try and get some photos on here sometime.

A busy day OH doing strimming and then onto ride on mower and I have done some smaller areas also using grass shears but the area around the house  and easier for me to get to the clothes line was fun today with long grass, looks better now and hope to get the caravan back on to is parking space, had more rain here than we had all our month away but now gone very warm and could get to 35C this week phew but cooler next week, did have a bit of a thunderstorm last night but not as bad as other areas of France.

Hope you can get a good result re hospital JVB.

Moved yesterday from Normoutier to I'll de Re. We had a storm on Saturday night on Normoutier, high winds the odd lightening flash, no thunder a bit of rain but nothing to worry about.

Sunday night on Re we had a bit of overnight rain, other than that it's been sunshine all the way.

Today after doing some washing we took a cycle across the island to Saint Martin en Re, nice ice cream sat looking out over the pretty harbour. Tomorrow its a cycle up to the lighthouse, might even treat ourselves to lunch.

Sounds like others out and about are having a good time too.

JVB, sorry to hear of all the problems you and OH are having to deal with, I hope you get some help soon and your OH gets back home.

Thanks for the kind words on the ones I posted. If it was easier, as per other forum, I would add a few more.

Mixed weather here, but as it was shopping day it didn't cause us too much bother. Drove into Cockermouth to stoc up, then had a short drive past Malcolm Wilson's Dovenby Hall estate where the Ford Rally team have their base. One unexpected sight when I went for my afternoon walk was a lady taking their family pet, a goat, out for a walk!

Up date on hospital lack of care with OH

Had a phone call while with OH this morning from Hospital complaints office and visit from ward sister asking for permission to let them see OHs note?

Later on received another call asking if ward manager could have a meeting with me

Meeting went well after I confirmed calls from OH last friday and I explained the contents

I think he was very concerned what had happend, and was going to see staff that were on duty,

He did say that the night shift were "Bank staff" although it should have been handled much better

And would ensure we and my daughter get a copy of his findings in case we were not satisfied

And to cap it all at some time since OH has been on this ward  someone has taken some money from her hand bag, which has also been reported

We have also had a visit from top man surgeon to advise that OH will need a hip joint replacement soon as can be arranged as they do not expect her present one to be stable  ,

Hope things pick up for your OH JV. You might wan5 to keep all you4 OHs valuables at home. My OH used a very basic phone rather than his expensive smart phone when he was first in and on morphine. Onl6 had his smart phone when he had come round better.

Currently on our third Scottish Aire. Last night was up at Kirroughtrees in Galloway Forest Park, fabulous location, for £8. Tonight we are down by harbour at Kircudbright, hook up, drive over waste, taps and lovely views, this time £10. Nothing booked, we just rolled in. We could have stayed for nothing, but decided to charge bikes up, ready for our next ride. Loving this way of touring. Had a good look around both Gatehouse of Fleet, and Kircudbright, both lovely places. Hopefully Threave Gardens tomorrow, then back here for a freebie.

Peace and quiet, apart from owls and woodpeckers. Kirroughtrees 7Stanes stopover site.

    Nice one Ttda.

We've had a glorious day today, both weather wise and bike/nature wise. Pushed ourselves somewhat today by cycling out from site again and riding the 16 miles to the furthest point before coming back slightly longer route. Quite proud as today was a "going" day for me and we didn't have to use the electric on the bikes.

We did stop regularly both for birdwatching and for coffee etc. The scenery as we cycled along the canal route into Ossenzijl was splendiferous. The houses lining the canal breathtaking. See photos. Lovely statue of a reed cutter, a lovely bridge over the canal and a uninvited visitor when we arrived home which landed on OH's shower shoe. We did have a wonderful ice cream in a lovely little town called Blokzijl.

Looking a lovely place is Holland WN. I needed my battery over on Rhins, some pretty big hills to climb. Did think about a ride in Forest last night, but I loathe those gravel MTB tracks, not for me. Your weather is much better than ours, been dry most of day, but raining now.
