So sorry to hear about your OH JV. Poor Mrs JV, she must have been in absolute agony, dislocations are terrible. I hope things go well for you both, might take some time to get back onto her feet sadly. Meantime, look after yourself. Folks can be very kind at unexpected times. Hope your family rally round👍

Gorgeous here this morning. M, you aren’t too far from us, so hoping you are getting this weather as well. Lovely photos, Monsal Trail is one of our cycle rides😁
MH fettling for me today, bit of gardening, other bits and bobs to finish off.

Still glorious here 😀. Meant any revolting spray from scrubbing out u bends and other joints is outside 🤢.
All drying outside so should smell a million times sweeter! All sparkly now and other plug holes treated to soda crystals... All drying outside so should smell a million times sweeter!
Still on the delightful music on phone, at least they're not saying my call' important to them! Changed our address for state pension this morning. Was pipe scrubbing whilst on hold.... Sorry you have to tell each benefit department of your change of address, can't do online as our systems aren't linked 🤐🤐. Sadly I'm hanging on again for one of the 2 remaining departments we need to inform
I did my driving licence, OH not allowed to drive any more 🥲 and registered keeper for car online, but each one individually.... That said no V5C received within a couple of days and driving licence within the week.
Yippee one more change of address recorded, just 22 minutes! Returning yo drain cleaning, well reassembling the pipework. It's more rewarding

Bakers, sounds a right old faff, and so 19th century. Never used it, but would something like this be useful…..
apologies if it’s of no use.

Oh thanks taketgedogalong. Couldn't you have found it earlier?? I've only got one lot of DWP to do for OH and I don't expect they'd be up for utility if you have yomtell EVERY department 🤐😤. Plus Metro Bank who seem to have changed their login and despite my trying hard with what I'm sure is correct info won't let me in. That might get another attempt later and a call if not.
All sparkly pipes u bends etc rejoined and shelf reinserted. Don't get me started on the way the pipework blocks getting the shelf in..... Checked thoroughly for leaks. None. You've guessed it. When I cleaned the sink it's sprung one 🤐. Hmmm phone call or fix the drainage??

😁 sorry Bakers😁. I thought there might be something, mind little experience.
Only time I have had to go through something as tedious is when my Dad died, and I had to let lots of institutions know. I think it was called The Bereavement Service, or something similar. It covered a lot of things, such as Pensions, HMRC etc…. But not the utilities. Most were quite good at the time, mind I did get one, think it might have been Post Office (for Telephone line rental) who was reading off a script and paying little attention. Apparently they needed to speak to the account holder, my response was good luck with that one, get back to me when your payments cease🤬

Whoops didn't read my post before pressing send 😱
I think the link could have been very useful but too late for me now. I didn't mean to say utility it should have read I don't think DWP would be up to using it. I think their system is at least as unjoined by as the club's 🤐🤐.
When we lost mum November 2019 there was a service called, tell us once. Wasn't great but was helpful for HMG stuff.
Chap I worked with was executor for a deceased aunt. He was in branch - those were the days 🤣🤣, at the bank and the official.insited they needed to speak to the account holder - despite him giving her the death certificate. His wife stepped in before there was blood on the carpet!
Ps was typing whilst holding on - would you Adam and Eve it the lady I spoke go last says once you tell a government department your new details it updates the entire system overnight! But they can't answer specific questions about other departments. Makes sense. So that's more than an hour I didn't need to listen to rubbish... but jobs done now 👍 and pipes aren't leaking any more. RESULT 😀😀

Our last full day at Little Longstone and we woke up to a clear blue sky and warm (ish) sunshine. Decided to redo another of our favourite walks in the area from Tideswell, where the church is known as the "Cathedral of the Peak", through Tideswell Dale, Miller's Dale, past the curiously named Water Cum Jolly and back via Cressbrook Dale and Tansley Dale. Great views all round. The area has suffered badly from Ash Dieback Disease and in Tideswell Dale a local craftsman has made this seat - the inscription which isn't very clear in the photo reads "Ash Requiem 2021". In Miller's Dale we stopped to watch this grey heron for several minutes, didn't seem at all disturbed by us or the dogs.
Off for a final visit and dinner at You-Know-Where tonight
, then home tomorrow for a couple of weeks before venturing "over there".It's a tough life is retirement, but after nearly 12 years I think I'm starting to get used to it!

TDA. Never heard of that but it sounds useful...if we ever move I hope things are easier than the B2 experience!!
Glad to hear you finally got sorted Bakers2. We used the "tell us once" set up when we lost Mum and it was very useful plus a trillion certified copies of the certificates. Mum would have approved, she was always much more organised than her daughters! Moulesy, I need a rest after reading about your holiday, pleased to hear you had a good time in Derbyshire.

Yes, it was “tell us once” that I used. I had forgotten the name.
Thinking about it, there’s just so much involved in moving house, things you tend to forget about. 🤔
MH sorted, didn’t take a lot of doing as I had a bit of a tidy when we got home a couple of weeks ago. Just putting in some Summer stuff now, we shall travel as light as possible. Have decided we are going to wing it and use a MH pull in first night. Get to furthest point on our tour, then wend our way back taking in the sights and some bike rides.

- Had physio look at OH today ,they say she is mobile enough to be released to come home
- It seems that pressure from above to empty hospital beds is making for the absence of common sense she has a splint that has to stay in place for six weeks that's OK until I pointed out that she needs to use our stairlift, which would not be possible with her splint as there is not enough room when her leg is in the splint, ,so they said I could remove the splint when she is seated and replace at top or bottom of stairs as I cannot physically get past the stairlift when OH is on it how will that work I asked
- They then said she wiil have to stay upstairs for the six weeks ,or have a bed downstairs ,I had already said our house does not have the room for a bed down stairs nor do we have any facilities on the ground floor
- I suggested until she can assist me that she goes to our local NHS rehab Centre ,but they still insist she is mobile, even the nurses were quite shocked,as it takes myself and a nurse to just do bed to chair and return

Another great day, once my faithful support vehicle driver (Mrs C) dropped us off at the Spout Force car park and we did Graystones, Ling Fell, Sale Fell, Broom Fell, Lord's Seat before being picked up at Whinlatter visitor's center. Some excellent views but the best part was getting to see and photograph a red squirrel in Whinlatter Forrest. We have seen one each day but this one must like having his photo taken. A few rest days now.

Sorry to hear about your OH JVB and hope things improve soon.
Had a lovely day at Heligan Gardens weather was good and garden was superb did get a bit busy so moved on to a quieter area, then off for a booked aromatherapy session which did a lot of good so now chilled out and will go somewhere local on Friday and then sorting things out ready for our trip back home early next week, amazing what traffic you meet on these small Cornish roads but at least you can seen some lovely wildflowers on the banks best I have seen for years.
Glad folks are enjoying their breaks.

That's pretty disgraceful of the doctors JVB. Anyway you can get some home care for the period arranged by your own GPs? Best wishes.
Had a trouble free drive down to our CL a few miles south of Boston, en route to Essex, via a small diversion.😀 A long drive for us though, nearly 4 hours. Smashing CL and worth the drive. Staying for 2 nights then ferry bound.
Plenty of wildlife in the ditches, bushes and farmers fields including a couple of Hares.
Good to hear others having a good time away.

Safe travels WN.

I had a local counciler candidate at the door last night ,,he had already got my vote ,but was not told until later on his speal
He is a doctor in real life ,,so I asked him about my latest difficulty with ,my caring role i( did not realise I was still wearing my lanyard and badge)
He said he will promise to contact people today as he asked to see what the problem was and said OH should not be released to home until a full assessment had been done even though we had already got aids fitted
So let's hope he does and will wait results

Tried to post this last night but got 'essential mantainance' 😤
JVB glad you got to chat to your candidate fingers crossed hell sort regardless of result.
JVB DON'T allow your wife to come home until there is a care package in place BEFORE she leaves hospital. Absent yourself from the ward if necessary 😉. I speak from 3 various attempts of something similar, following one where we were blissfully ignorant. Dudnt get caught again but ut was touch and go! Once they've discharged the urgency to get things in place has disappeared.
who cares for the carer??
Wherenext which site are you on?
Sounds like folks having good times home and away.
Another glorious start to the day here. Enjoy your day folks.

Sorry JVB when you mentioned going to the IOW I got muddled up so I hope your OH comes home with a proper care plan in place. The alternative is to look around for respite care whilst the splint is on if you can't manage, very difficult for you both so best wishes.
WN enjoy your travels.
Hope you had a good Cornish holiday RK, I havent been to Heligan for a long time.
Still using my old phone, keeps jamming!

Lovely red squirrel shot Cs. Currently on Dockray Meadow where in past years we have seen many on site but not one to be seen. Moving to Troutbeck Head where they appeared again a few years back after a long absence and their numbers are now apparently increasing. How to see some soon.🐿

Jvb sorry but meant to say "can you" not "you can". Tried to edit but Lego men stopped me.
Haven't read posts today as we are off out for the day. Lovely out there.
Hope all enjoying it, best of luck to Mrs JVB.

Last November I booked our 2022 summer holiday. More in hope than expectation I booked 19 nights at New England Bay. I know that going to the same place every year, and staying for more than a couple of days, isn't the way some people tour. But it suits us. And in this instance back in November we didn't know which dates we would be able to go . So I booked more than I needed. Mea Culpa.
Meanwhile lots of dates have been filled in on our communal farm diary and it became obvious we had to radically change our plans. So the old booking was Deleted User and replaced with 5 nights at New England Bay, 6 nights at home, and 4 nights at Englethwaite Hall. We aim to travel as light as possible (definitely no awning) and we've saved some money.
Meanwhile yesterday was an historic day - my husband changed the party he's always voted for. I won't do politics on here, but it's taken 50+ years for him to agree with me.

Off for Covid jab 4 tomorrow morning. Then I can set about our Covid documentation for our trip. Does anyone know how long before the latest jab appears on the NHS App? I'm hoping only a couple of days.

Thanks Bakers2 want to be around
My Daughter( she is OH step daughter) was a mobile carer for a while (she now works for Spire health evidently after a recommendation) ,and is not one to let things go, I have had a call this morning from her and she has evidently sent emails to both our GP and Hertfordshire adult care? service with her thoughts about my role and what they are now expecting of me
She has told them I seem to accept the situation as I do not want OH to go into care but she has evidently told them to look at my medical records and have another think about how I am expected to cope with the add help OH will need hopefully.in the short term
She is coming to the hospital today to see for herself, I seems she has had a conversation with staff where she works
I do not think I want to be around when my daughter get struck into them

The best thing to do is not to agree to your OH returning home until a care plan or respite care is available. We did that when my Mum was in hospital, had we said we were ok and could cope (we couldn't) Mum would have been discharged. We phoned round and visited places that could offer emergency respite care and it worked out well in the end although in our case Mum needed 24 hour residential care later on. I hope your daughter finds a solution for you both, you need back up!
