Good luck with your phones B2, my new phone arrived yesterday, its still in its box! I've had problems wirh my old one which I dont want to transfer to the new so care is required. I suppose we'll all be digital soon so you'll be ahead of the game.
Goodness May 1st, time is flying. We had some welcome rain overnight which helps with veg plants etc. After today it's dry and warm once more.
Hope you start to get your energy back Millie, give yourself time.
All the holidays sound good, loved the Catbells lights Corners!

Love the pics Corners
B2 it seems you are finally getting things sorted and settled in nice for you to have your “first visitors”
Glad all those away are having a nice time
Weather here was nice yesterday morning so I went out a cycle then we just had a relaxing day just took a walk in to the town and walked down to the old lighthouse a bit breezy down there but lovely. Came back to the van with plans to cook steak on t. Cadac but it started pouring just as we got back so that plan was shelved and we had something else and then spent the evening in the van watching the snooker. Rained overnight but bright now so hope it stays like that we are planning a drive down the coast today and see where it takes us

Love the Catbells and the lights photos Cornersteady, what a sight. Very glad to hear you are getting something approaching normality B2, it must be a huge relief, and summer to look forward to! We are off to North York moors on Thursday for a week, so looking forward to a break. We have been lucky enough to have our son, DIL and our 3 year old granddaughter staying with us for 8 weeks, it has been great to get to know Chloe properly as our usual contact is via FaceTime as they live in Macau. Obviously (China and Covid!) they can’t get home just yet so they have been ‘travelling’ and our son has been working remotely- it’s amazing what can be done these days! Since October they have been to Manila (second wife’s family), Finland (with DIL’s sister) and UK, they are now in Singapore as son needed to get back into the correct time zone for work and they hope HK and then Macau in the near future somehow. It’s been a great few weeks but we are really, really, tired! All this on top of my recent hip replacement done late February - well, it has kept me moving! 🥴

We have had our first rain in weeks here. After I had watered garden yesterday of course🤣 Dropped off craft stuff at shop yesterday, be interesting to see what folks might be interested in, never sold like this before, and it’s a difficult time for lots of folks with bills rising, etc….
Can get back to a bit more gardening now, lots of stuff in greenhouse to bring on, plant out. Going to chance planting out, we hope to be away again soon for a longer break, so don’t want to leave anything frazzling in greenhouse.
Dumfries and Galloway for our next trip out hopefully, but we always have a back up plan if weather looks iffy. Long time since we have been that way and explored around. Going to be mainly cycling, interspersed with some gardens, not too busy other places of interest, and hopefully, a bit of beach and swimming (wetsuits this time of year🥶)

Hope you enjoy NY Moors heddlo. If you don’t know it, can highly recommend a visit to Ruswarp, and the lovely riverside Nursery/Cafe there, Perry’s Nursery. Great plants, great food, lovely gardens on riverside to look around. And steam trains chuffing past👍😁You can even take a rowboat onto the river if you fancy👍

I expect you'll know the area as well as us, heddlo - but we like the Tea Room at Falling Foss. Not sure if you'd manage the hill between there and the car park, though but it is good exercise! The last few times we have been to the NYM site, we've opted for one of the grass pitches just inside the entrance - a bit less regimented than further into the site.
Our experience last year made us vow to stay away from both Whitby and RHB - both were absolutely rammed - regardless of the weather! Nevertheless it remains one of our favourite sites and we're due to go again in July.

Yes R&R it’s one of our favourite sites too. Just over an hour from home and very peaceful. No I wouldn’t make it up the hill from Falling Foss, new hip doing well but it wouldn’t do that walk, especially as hip 2 is now playing up, but enough of that!!! Like you we avoid Whitby and RHB although our recent visitors went to Whitby twice during their stay with us and said it was fine - different generation! We don’t do crowds, more so in these times.

Try dinner/tea at Hayburn wyke Inn. Either a walk down to Hayburn Wyke Waterfall pre or post meal. From the inn it’s a short but steep walk or via the old Scarbs to Whitby train track it’s longer but less steep. Any time of the year it’s spectacular👍🏻

Well, the weather behaved itself, the rain held off and we had a fine, cool day for the Setter Rescue walk - 35 (we think!) Irish, a couple of English and Gordon's plus a pair of terriers completed the circuit and over £1000 raised for the charity.

Almost impossible to get the dogs to pose for a group photo and, anyway, I think it was this cheeky English Setter who stole the day!

It's back to reality today after a "weekend break". Well it was actually 26 hours away from home.
We left at 11:30 on Saturday and got home at 13:30 on Sunday (having fitted in the weekly shop on the way home.) We stayed at a Premier Inn on the northern side of York, and had a taxi to near The Barbican. I had booked a table at an Italian restaurant so we sat and enjoyed a bottle of wine and very good food. I like to be our seats early and watch everyone come in and the last minute tweaks to the stage set up. I think it's polite to be there for the support act. It's how many young bands start, and "Barbara" (not female, and not just one of them) were worth seeing. But the main event, and the reason for us being there were brilliant. The Divine Comedy - Neil Hannon and his group of musicians - were wonderful. Everything we hoped for. All the the songs we loved (well, not all, the night was too short), and he even had time to add some new lyrics to Generation Sex (including the word "tractor"). We were on our feet and dancing (as best as I could with a wonky back) by the end. If you've not seen or heard them, look them up. Lots on YouTube. The crowd were friendly as we all had one thing in common - our love for Neil. Neil coped and responded to good natured heckling from the crowd.
Then it was outside at 23:00 to wait for our delayed taxi.

We did the rowing boat on the Esk two summers back. Our hours rental didn't quite give me enough time to get to Sleights and back. Less than two miles an hour - pathetic. Good job I'm not in the Varsity crews.

Looks like you had a wonderful day moulesy - and a brilliant achievement with the fundraising. What beautiful dogs,
We took Meg to the 'Cockapoo Games' just after we got her - I think she was a bit overwhelmed - there were over 250 Cockapoos there. A totally enjoyable but also a totally mad day

Looks like a wonderful day and a good time was had by all moulesy. Great photos.
Goodness R&R are you sure you came home with the right cockapoo?! 😅
Bakers2 It sounds as though you are settling into you new house well. How lovely to welcome your first visitors and great that they were so helpful.

We are just home after a lovely 4 night break at Berwick Seaview club site. The weather was decent so I managed to get out a cycle and we spent most of the time sitting in the sun relaxing. Went a drive to Seahouses yesterday one of our favourite little towns it’s nice to have a walk around the harbour area. Easy three hour tow home today although as usual it was busy around Edinburgh area. We have a wedding to attend next weekend but hope to get away for a couple of nights in the van the following week just local.
Hope everyone else is having a nice bank holiday weekend

Missed a few days but well done Moulesy.
How did the awning go Francis?
A quiet few days trying to catch up with ourselves. Planted out the new flowers today. We did strip one of the border areas/ severely cut things back so there was a lot of space to fill.
Thought we had hit a snag today with the caravan as we couldn't get the water pump to work. Fortunately we have a spare and that did the trick but it will have to be looked into at service. Bedding and some food now packed away. Getting all of our paperwork in order and Mrs WN sorting out the new phone for roaming.

Awning went well WN it was very easy to put up and gives us a lot of space the quality of the fabric seems good too it’s the first Dorema awning we have had but so far so good it rained overnight one night when we were away and all ok no leaks or anything. It’s one we will put up if away for 3 nights or more

After yesterday's exertions we decided to stay local today and walked from Monsal Head down to Ashford in the Water which is a beautiful village with an ancient packhorse bridge and some lovely looking cottages alongside the river where we stopped off for coffee. The church dates back to the 13th century and inside are some unique "maiden's garlands" (explanation added!). You can just make them out suspended above the aisle. Then back to Little Longstone, by complete coincidence the walk started and finished about 50 yards along from The Packhorse!

Lovely walks there, M! Remember chatting with you at Troutbeck Head, summer 2014. You had the two Red setters then and children with you. Much to my disappointment I didn’t declare my connection with CT on that occasion. Spooky I know, forgive me but I think you were on pitch 118 or near to it!🤪

Hmmmm,
, positive that this is NOT the preferred thread for this but here goes anyway
.Should any of you lot be considering travelling from Middlewich past Crewe towards Nantwich on the A530 be aware that road works lasting 80 { !! yes EIGHTY } weeks in total~ish will be taking place around the LEIGHTON HOSPITAL Complex !
I wonder if it would be wise for Brian to start a Coffee & Burger Bar !!

Noooo David, much too dangerous for an old Type 2 Diabetic to have around - just licking me fingers could land me in that hospital's Treatment Centre - a place wherein I used to have a permanent Patient's Pass and not for diabetes either

"Goodness R&R are you sure you came home with the right cockapoo?! 😅"
I hope so, millie. Here's the photo of just part of the group at the end of the games. Meg and I are under the arrow and we were actually in the middle of the group!
