They may look a little similar, ABM, but I suspect that these are a little larger and that your sister doesn't have that expanse of water so close to the front of her house.😄

    Lovely photos again, M.

I'm not surprised that Greenpark is full, Kjell, it is a grand site in a good location at a fair price. Enjoy your trip.

Not as fine today as yesterday, but still dry although a bit chilly. Had a walk from the site along the local lanes this morning and then around Cally CP at Gatehouse this afternoon. Yesterday we drove around  to the far side of Fleet Bay for a few walks by the shore. Last night for us in Scotland for this trip, back to our home county tomorrow.

Yet another fasting blood test this morning, third one this year! They say I am borderline type 2 diabetic but don't seem to be able to make up their minds!!! It probably wouldn't surprising to me as the pandemic has certainly taken a toll on my activity levels and it seems to be difficult to get back to normal and of course I am two years older!

Managed to fill up the car with petrol today. The latest crisis has created a new local Facebook page with people noting when certain garages have fuel and what type. Fortunately this time I needed petrol which was fine but no diesel available and this seems to be getting to be a real problem.

Off to the Open University this afternoon for our second Booster jabs. Interesting that some opinion suggest that we shouldn't be having boosters as natural infection gives greater protection. Whilst I don't doubt there is much in that it is a leap of faith as no one knows how COVID will impact on you. A bit different from encouraging kids to get measles to get it over and done with!!!

Grey, windy and cold here in Banchory, so we have had a lazy morning.  Looks like the sun is trying to break through, so we  may well venture out after lunch.

We had hoped to visit a very elderly relative of OH while here, and a former work colleague of mine, but that is now out.   My friend developed a leg problem at Christmas and is still in hospital, his wife and children are in the middle of organising a move to a more suitable house, so the last thing they need right now is visitors.

OH's relative is a bigger problem. They usually exchanged phone calls and/or letters every so often, but she recently found writing difficult due to arthritis, and using the phone was getting tricky due to deafness, so we had not had much contact recently, and when OH tried to ring, the number was "not recognised".

Her health was not great so we assume she has either gone into care or is in hospital, but cannot track her down.  OH has been in contact with the council care department who say they have no record of her applying for care, with the warden at the sheltered housing where she lived, who we think must know that she has moved away as they said to contact the housing office, and with the housing office, who flatly refused to give her any information, so we reckon they do know something.  All very frustrating.

Having checked the records we do know she has not died.

Had to wait in this morning as we were having some fencing sorted out.

Mrs WN decided to disappear and went to Tesco. She said the roads were unusually busy with a lot of folk going away judging by the number of Motorhomes she saw and cars with canoes and roof boxes on them. People tend to come through our town heading to places like Lake Bala and Porthmadog. Petrol stations full of cars.

    Nice photos Millie.

Palm Sunday brings back memories of being confirmed when I was 12 or 13. My friend and self were the first ones to have this accolade at a new church, well, a church that had sold the original place and rebuilt a smaller one but newly opened. Enjoy your trip to N.I.

What a worry about your OH's elderly relative KjellNN. I do hope you manage to track her down if only for your peace of mind.

Lovely spring day here today with lots of sunshine and pleasantly warm, although a fairly stiff breeze.  We did a few errands (cleaners, Boots, PO) and then decided to have a walk round our local nature reserve. The ducks were bobbing about a bit as the water was quite choppy in the breeze! The swans are nesting so hopefully some new arrivals soon. We have to cross the A47 to get there which is the road to the east coast. Like Mrs WN we noticed a large volume of traffic, there was quite a hold up. It seemed to be mostly caravans and motor homes.

An odd day today, weather wise! Out on the dunes this morning everything was going OK until it suddenly came over all dark, then a flash of lightning and a huge clap of thunder. Lady made a run for it - she's terrified of fireworks, loud bangs etc. Fortunately she ran straight to someone we meet regularly who she knows carries treats - fickle or what! wink So we managed to get her back on the lead. Ralph took it all in his stride.

Mrs M decided to go to Truro for some retail therapy as it didn't look great, but no sooner had she set off than the clouds parted to a nice warm morning! Upside was that she managed to get to Mountain Warehouse to buy me a new rucksack which was on offer.

Dry and warm this afternoon for our second walk but clouding over again now. Tomorrow looks dodgy but then improving later this week. smile

I feel for you over the "missing" relative KJ. I didn't hear from a friend at Christmas. She was someone we kept in touch with once a year at Christmas and had lots of nice memories from when all of our children were young. Her husband had been ill and I assumed something had happened to him but sadly I've just found out she had died last year and we didn't know about it. OH and I keep a very messy address book with all our family and friends from many moves over the years. We've both now said we should have a contact list for our family!

We had to get more compost today, for all our seed growing endeavours and back up for our village open garden session (slight panic there!) We called in at Montacute House via the back route and had a very windy cup of coffee in the courtyard there and a quick whizz round the lovely bright tulip borders. Nice for everyone visiting just now, quite a few people out and about on a Monday.

Hope your tests go well DK and some fuel arrives soon. Our area of the SW is ok and I hope shortages get sorted for the Easter get away.

Good to hear Mrs M found what she wanted in Truro Moulesy. I once had to make a rushed visit there when I left all the coats and waterproofs at home on a trip with the van and we had torrential rain! I've still got the bright flowered "pack-a-mac" I bought to keep dry that holiday.

Loved the donkey photos Millie. smile

Removers, 6 and 2 lorries!, arrived 0800. Loaded by 1130 and off to storage. Good planning by them on to come up tomorrow. Cleaned our house and left ourselves about 1230. Exchanged between our buyers and us before 11am and us and new house by 1140. Very smooth thankfully.

We landed at our new house about 1445. Cleaners arrived 1500 as agreed - its been left clean and tidy but glad I've booked them upstairs and carpets cleaned.

Explored our new abode even better than we recall 🤣. Lots of lovely plants in the garden and lots of pots too 😀. A walk round the block with Dora who had a park walk with OH then went to friends. Was out with them over the meads for 2 hours so rather tired like us 😉

Both shattered and glad someone cooking for us. Cleaners have just said they'll be about another 2 hours.

Removers reckon to be here about 0900 tomorrow so another day of action.

"Good to hear Mrs M found what she wanted in Truro Moulesy"

Well, truth be told she didn't! She was looking for a couple of "outfits" (I think is the word) to wear on our river cruise next month but couldn't decide on anything. (I believe the tactics are that tomorrow she'll want to go back for another look "just to be sure" wink).

She did get some roasting bags from Lakeland, though! laughing (Oh, and a new rucksack for me! 👍)

We very much doubt that we will get anywhere with that brue, we have no idea what more we can do.

OH's grandmother on her father's side and this lady's mother were sisters, so I think that may make her a first cousin once removed?   She is the youngest in her family, all her older brothers are now dead, 2 in South Africa and 1 in Norfolk, and, although we know they have children and grandchildren, we know nothing about them.

Neither of OH's parents were that great at keeping in touch with most of their many relatives after they moved away from Aberdeen, and though OH did try to keep some contact going after MIL died in 2001, it became more and more difficult.

It eventually came down to a Christmas card being returned as "no longer at this address" for an aunt in California, despite her having a daughter, and us having to assume that elderly aunts and uncles were no more when we stopped receiving cards from them.    Her cousin in London, with whom she had most contact, died very suddenly, and it was 6 months before we knew about it, via his sister in law.

Glad to say that my family, other than my brother, are much better at keeping in touch!

Joker has a 'groundsheet' near the font at the back of the church in case of 'accidents'...  After the procession outside, he comes into church for the remainder of the service....  😀😀

....a d now that's over, we've come to Brecon Beacons  CAMC site for a few days.... back in good time for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday  Holy Saturday and Easter Day Services..  Definitely staying home for the main Easter Week... it'll be busy out there on sites...

We have been away to open up our static van for the season. Oh it was cold, but little rain. Think it felt worse as I have another dreadful cough which went straight to my chest again. Almost all done now, will just need to stock the freezer and the essential food cupboard next visit. Caught up with our relations, who we haven’t seen since September. Brief conversation with our new neighbours, too cold to sit out chatting, but she did say, ‘next time we must sit out with a drink’, hoping that she didn’t mean just coffee, so looking forward to that. None of our other long standing neighbours there yet.

Journeyed back on Monday morning, very surprised how much traffic on the motorways, lots of caravans and motorhomes, suppose they were going to the West Country for Easter. Gloucester Services car park very busy. One caravan snaking a little, couldn’t believe it when she then pulled out to overtake! She was going rather fast, we overtook to get away from it, a young woman was driving.

Home for Easter now as our son and family always come to us, and mad dog. Shes five now but no sign of her calming down. Eldest grandson 20 now so thought he may not come but he is. Going to cook his favourite dinner for first night, well a little bribery might keep him coming with them for future. Going to be making his siblings lots of their favourite cakes.

House purchase.. nothing suitable available, when there is no doubt everyone will want it. Seriously think there will have to be a change of plan.

Hope that you settle in well Bakers and love your new home.

Another gorgeous day down here (well until about half an hour ago when it started raining frown). It's really warming up now. We've decided to stay fairly local in view of the ongoing diesel situation. So today we made a rare visit to Newquay (probably the last for a while now that it's getting busier!) for a stroll along Fistral beach and up to the headland. Struggled, but eventually managed, to find a (free) parking space at the southern end of the beach. Good to see that the RNLI lifeguards are back on duty again. A few hardy souls were taking advantage of the peace and quiet along at Little Fistral (where my intended photo turned out to be a rather shaky video so got Deleted User yell), but those of you who know the area will appreciate the contrast between the two beaches.

Not a lot going on here, a bit damp today but we needed the rain.

Hope you enjoyed seeing your holiday home again Debsc, I hope your luck turns in your search for a new home locally.

Has anyone seen the newish film "Phantom of the Open" thinking about going, it looked good fun on the trailers, could do with a comedy!

Not been too busy today weather not been too great. We went and collected our new awning this afternoon looks good although it is a bit heavier than our air awning so will need to be careful when packing it in the van looking forward to trying it out hopefully this weekend.

Hope the move goes well B2

Best wishes for your new home, B2, hope the move went without a hitch, at least not a major one, as there always seems to be a hiccup or two along the way with these type of events.

We moved down to our last site this trip yesterday, Spiral Caravans, Kendal. There were more caravans and M/Hs on the motorway than we have seen in the move during the whole of our 6+ week trip.

Today started off dry but grey, and the rain was not too long in arriving. We did manage a walk along Ashes Lane last the C&CC's Windermere site, which looked nearly full already. Out of curiosity we called in at Hartleys at Ings to have a peek at their M//Hs. Most were way, way out of our price range, did see a nice Hobby but without microwave and an electric plate it was a no no as far as OH was concerned. We had hoped to have a look in a couple of the Wildaxe models but they only had one on a Merc body in an eyewatering cerise.😲 Too wet to do much else for our last day except get ready to head home in the morning. It has however been a grand tour all told with very little rain. Roll on the next one.

A nice quiet day weather wise so we took ourselves off to do a bit of birdwatching and relaxation at Burton RSPB reserve on the Wirral. Spring songbirds were back in force and a few lovely waders passing through. Really enjoyed the day. Came across what is commonly known as Three Cornered Garlic. The flowers were so pretty.

I do like all garlic plants at this time of the year.

All packed ready to leave tomorrow for Craigellachie,  We have had very poor weather here, almost 24 hours of continuous rain Tuesday/Wednesday, but at lunch time it finally stopped.

We made a quick trip to Tesco to fill up with diesel, no shortages here it seems, and a bit of food, then managed to get the awning down, almost dry, and the car packed.  Just hope it stays dry tomorrow too.

Drove past the Club site in Banchory, looked pretty full, like the pitches here, but the roads are not particularly busy.  Only 2 of the 5 pods here are occupied as yet, and none of the 4 "cottages" that are available to rent.   We have enjoyed having a serviced pitch, and free, fast wifi, and the toilet/ shower rooms provided are also good, we will certainly use this CL again, great value too.

No more serviced pitches for the rest of our trip, so we might use the facilities at Spey Bay, Dingwall and Invernahavon.  Craigellachie facilities look to be from the 60s/70s  so we will not bother with the showers there, far too cold last time we were there, but at least the price reflects the provision.

We are here in N. Ireland 😊. Stansted airport was very busy but there were no queues either at the bag drop or security. We were most impressed with the efficiency and helpfullness of all the staff. As we got there really early expecting long queues it meant a long wait once all checked in but it wasnt a problem as we both had books and there were plenty of places for a cup of tea and a snack. (Also I love to people watch 😁). I hope bakers2  is settling into her new home and that nellie got home OK. Have a good weekend everyone.
