Well it takes all sorts I suppose, we hated it. The ignorant wardens didn't help when we were there. Just another car park, as WN says, a bit like Southport, characterless.

Enjoy your stay there, TG. We also like Greenpark, the CL that Kjell is stopping on.

Moved down to Gatehouse of Fleet today. It was a bit damp early on but we didn't get wet hitching up and the rest of the day was dry. The CL is run by the Cardoness Estate, but separate from it. There is a large static site where on book in, and it's the best that we have ever seen, with most of the units spread out in their own bays. Talking to the site warden/manager, and he was saying that in the 20 yrs that he's been there last season was the first where no one left, and they have a 11yr waiting list for places on it.

Not been up to much, so haven't had anything to post 😕 just as well really as our Internet has been playing up, an engineer is due tomorrow apparently 🙄

Managed a bit of gardening this week, good job we only have a small garden as it's not my favourite activity.

Trip into town today for a hair cut,  another price increase. ☹

Off to try and catch up with everyone's news if the Internet stays on. 🤔

    About 25-30 miles I reckon!

If you have nothing else planned, come over to Craigellachie on the Saturday for a look at the site and a bit of lunch, be good to meet up again.

I think you have my mobile number?

We got back from Ferry Meadows today after a four night stay. First time away in five months!  Very uncomfortable drive back in the wind. Tried to fill up with diesel at a large Tesco and they had none. Another garage I passed didn't have a price for diesel which I assume also meant they didn't have any either? I like to fill up on the way back from a trip so we are ready to go for the next trip which in our case is in early May.

Our local Tesco hasn't had prices up for at least a month now David.

A morning of food shopping and trying to stay clear of the frequent squally showers.

Some odd jobs this afternoon, mainly indoors. I then got a telephone call from my recently widowed brother in France so that took care of a good 90 minutes. It was great to hear him wanting to have a chat. He's having to go through all sorts of hoops to get his wife's will through the administrative process that France bureaucrats seem to adore. His wife's is straightforward as she left everything to him. You would think that would be that but...no. Death certificates needed for her long deceased mother and father, proof of house ownership, current valuation on said house, minute details of all personal possessions etc. They call it a Succession over there and it can take months to sort out. He is lucky in that it should be processed by end of June. His neighbour's estate will take at least 14 months or so her son has been informed and once again that is fairly straightforward but more relatives involved.

There are quite complex laws in France for your estate after death. We know of a couple whose second marriage it was and thought they were ok with leaving the estate to each other but because they didn't buy their joint house in a certain way it meant that their will would be ignored and one of the partners estranged children would automatically qualify for a percentage of the house proceeds before the remaining spouse. They sold up and moved to Spain.

I'm sure RK and others will have come across the complexities of their laws or at least I hope they have taken them into account.

Anyway it was grand to speak to him for so long. At least sorting out the affairs gives him a focus.

So far we have not struggled to get diesel in Scotland, although we did find some of the pumps at the last supermarket we visited were closed off for deisel. Hope we have enough to get to Kendal next week, as there should be plenty of garages to choose from to fill up before heading home.

It has been a rather cold dull day here with the odd bit of drizzle, and a short hail shower this evening. Went firstly to Threave Castle to see the Ospreys, but couldn't cross to the Castle itself as Historic Scotland have not yet opened many of their properties. Then onto Threave Garden and Estate, which have a splendid display of daffodils at the moment, although it is a bit early in the year to see their Azaleas and Rhododendrons. Called in at Tesco on the way back to the van.

We're in the Cotswolds and there’s a definite shortage of fuel here. According to Google, it’s due to protesters blockading oil depots.

I filled the Disco up at Sainsbury's yesterday with diesel, but they were short of unleaded.  Out local petrol station seemed to have unleaded so I put some in the 'small car' and am keeping the diesel for our next trip out with the caravan.  Mind you, it was an expensive visit to Sainsbury's to fill up!!!

Tell me about it, David.  I went to our local Tesco's the other day and it cost me £125 - from a quarter fullundecided  Plus I will have to top up again before we go away next Wednesday.

Washing machine on, dry morning 🤞.

Car valet due in next half hour, impress the new neighbours 🤣🤣. Still have traces of the Sahara sand on the outside, some folks here will be horrified.......

Must sort clothes for weekend and beyond today and pack overnight bag before removers arrive to pack tomorrow.

House keys dropped at estate agent, another tick off THE LIST, so one less thing to do moving day. City traffic disruption amazing - certainly didn't want to be tangled up in road closures and one way street(s) working in reverse and other diversions. Confusing signs everywhere! A walk in and back etc would lose an hour I can I'll afford such a time waste on moving day. Was amazed that I had to ask for a signed receipt, not normal practice apparently 😱🤬. Needless to say I got one, scanned photo of our keys, luckily I attached label, for them to remove, with address on. Control freak? Me?

    Right onwards and upwards.

Enjoy your day folks. Can't comment on posts, I read them but sadly my retaining skills have departed. Hope they return when I don't have THE MOVE front, centre and all consuming 🤣🤣

Another bright sunny day. But cool. It’s OK for me inside, looking out.

It will be the last day of hedgelaying today. At last winter is coming to an end. The cows are out night and day and the grass is growing.

My husband and son had an interesting day on Wednesday . They were invited with a small group of farmers to meet Prince Charles on his visit to Cumbria. He was particularly interested in the way we farm (family farm, Dairy Shorthorns, and focused on “Nature Friendly”.See link below).

Tonight we should have been going to a Gig - Merry Hell. Look them up! A band to lift the spirits. But Covid has struck the band again. It’s the second time this year we’ve missed them for the same reason.

very best wishes for the coming few days, B2 --  and for the future of course, but I think you know what I mean. wink

Hope the rest of you are all enjoying the same weather as wot i am,  Brilliant blue sky with a few bi-i-i-ig white clouds, and warm [ behind glass of course ] so I've got washing on the go with window cleaning to follow due of course to that dratted sunshine showing up my collection of finest dust and sand grrrr.

Had a look at your nffn site Goldie but I think those two brown horses are in need of a hair cut even more than I am, and that's a terrible state to be in  surprised

Nice to see the next generation moving on Goldie.

Locally our Holstein cows aren't out yet so was interested to hear about yours.

Yesterday it was too windy to do much outside although OH was battling on with a new path. Damp and dull here today but everything growing well, nice to see the fresh green leaves.

Well B2 you're nearly there, so I wish you both good luck in your new home.

Reading about fuel shortages, the school holidays are about to start and I hope the situation improves asap.

Good luck B2 - from us as well.  We moved nearly 10 years ago and after it was all over, I vowed 'never again'!  I hope you'll soon be settled and comfortable in your new home.

Had a busy day today - making the most of the sunny weather.  Since we are due to go away on Wednesday, I finally got round to doing the one caravanning job I absolutely hate - cleaning the roof! So after lowering the E&P, tilting the van backwards so that all the gunge ran off, I got stuck in.  Fortunately my leg has healed enough now to allow me up steps and to work from my platform I bought just for this purpose. Still had to go inside and stick my head /arm / one shoulder at a time through the roof lights to get at the really dirty bits around those openings.  What a job - but it's looking much better now - especially as I then cleaned the whole van off to get rid of the dirt produced by the roof.

Polishing day tomorrow - couldn't face starting that todaysmile

Good grief!! I thought mine was bad at £111!! Mind you, that was £2.50 less than it should have been - I traded in 500 Nectar points.  I'm going to need to do a little tops uP on Sunday before we venture out to Brecon.  I've been using the 'small car' as much as possible this week to try and save a bit....

Snap!  Did my roof in the week.  Going to try the sides tomorrow.  If all else (i.e. the weather) fails, I'll do it a little at a time while we're away, with DrySparkle!!!

Busy day for us to today.

I've been painting and varnishing again, then went outside to sweep the front path and ended up doing 4 hours on the garden. Grass (moss) all cut, borders hoed, couple of bushes have had a trim. Tidied up behind OHs shed. Then split and spread 3 bags of Cotswold chippings to top up a raised bed we made during the lock downs. I'm a bit tired now.

OH was busy in the MH, we had a bathroom window put in a month or so ago. Previously there was only a small vent in the roof, so no natural light and no way of getting lots of fresh air when we are in warm countries. OH didn't like the way it was finished off on the inside, so removed it all and replaced with white PVC that he got from the window fitters the other day. He's made a grand job of it, so much neater and no screw heads to be seen 😊

Yay! I found the oven shelf 😊😊 it was in the table cupboard in the caravan 😲 I had looked everywhere for it, then went into the caravan bathroom to put toiletries away turned round and saw the cupboard and it all came back to me 🤪

Just got to put clothes in now and pack the car, that will get done on Monday.

Its been a chiily but sunny day, great in the front garden as its south facing, flipping baltic in the back garden.

Diesel is getting scarce here at times, will need to top up over the weekend and then hope we can do so again while away. Been using my little car as its petrol which doesn't seem to be a problem.

    Have a good weekend folks.

Yes we do, it would be good to meet up again, so may well take you up on your kind offer. Have a safe drive up on Saturday. 🙂

NTH, thanks. We've not been to Green Park yet but it's in the book for a visit at some point. The CL you are on now sounds good, as does the static site but at 11 years wait I think we would have to pass on that. 😁 Enjoy your weekend.

Drove down to Cornwall this morning, late start  (had to work round Mrs M's Zumba session!) but a straight forward enough journey. Quick unpack, up to the dunes to let the dogs let off steam, then to Sainsburys to stock up for the week (but no diesel! surprised), now sitting back, about to sort out the g&t's, and waiting for a pizza delivery.  Sun's shining, forecast is good - what's not to like? smile

Quite a nice day weather wise here today. Nice a sunny but cold when out of the sun. Yesterday was diabolical. Bitterly cold high winds with heavy downpours. I got caught out twice. We went on one of our U3A church visits yesterday. We all got lost driving round the little country lanes looking for it (more than once) but once there it was a lovely little church. We were chatting to some friends there about various of our mutual friends who since the pandemic refuse to come out and socialise. They are quite happy to chat on the phone but refuse to meet up with people It is all very sad.

We popped over to see our grand-daughter and great grandson this afternoon to give them their Easter eggs. Great grandson is 2 years old and a real live wire so kept us all entertained laughing. We are off to N Ireland next week to see the family over there. Wish us luck with the airport and the flight surprised. I am not looking forward to that part.

Diesel is on very short supply in this area. We spent ages driving round looking for some for OH's car yesterday. We eventually found a garage that just had the so called 'super diesel'. It was so expensive we just got enough to see us through for a few days. Our local news yesterday said the shortage is because of protesters who blockaded the depots in some areas so the drivers could not get in or out.

Wishing you all the best for your move Bakers2. I hope all goes smoothly and you get settled in well in time to enjoy Easter.

Have a lovely time in Cornwall Moulesy.

    Tidied up behind OHs shed.

TG, I genuinely read this twice and still got it wrong. Read it as "Tidied up behind OHs head". I thought why isn't she tidying the rest.laughing Must get my eye tested soon. Just to prove it, I changed phone sim on my cheapie low cost phone today and went to change  the number in OHs phone. Got hold of the number required, or so I thought, and rang it to activate the sim. Nice of Nellie to answer the phone! He's well, as I'm sure he'll tell you when he comes on.🤣🤣

The day continued in that vane. In fact I think Nellie was the highlight and there's not often you can say that.🤔😅

We don't watch Tv a great deal, in fact rarely would be more appropriate, so how typical that our Sky box packed up completely today whilst MiL, who has the same type of box, watches hers for 6 hours or so a day and it carries on regardless. Been trying to get rid of Sky but alternatives will hurt MiL for getting to know systems and, well, sometimes matters are best just left alone.

Bakers, Is it really D-Day?? I can't believe it. You can proudly pat yourself on the back not just for the sterling effort of getting there in one piece (almost) but also stopping quite a few of your fellow CTers from falling into the same trap. If I could give you a medal I would. Good luck.

Been a bright but chilly day, Internet at home off most of the afternoon but back on this evening, not sure if its been fixed, as no sign of an engineer surprised

OH took the car over to a friend to have the tracking done, came home with another Freelander to try, slightly newer than our old one, just have to wait to see if the " price is right" !!

Our local garages are all out of fuel, luckily we filled up at the beginning of the week after our weekend away. We are off to North Yorkshire next weekend, Lovely get together with both our sons, partners and grand daughter.  smile

Good luck with your move Bakers2,  hope everything goes smoothly.

Moulsey enjoy Cornwall and Millie hope getting to NI isn't too stressful, have a lovely time.

Everyone at home or away, have a good weekend.smile

I went to see the vampire on Wednesday to have some blood extracted, actually the nurse is lovely and has twice taken my blood without leaving a mark. It was my birthday and when she asked my date of birth she realised and wished me a happy birthday. I’ve been taking statins for the past three months and got the results yesterday, the cholesterol number is well down and I’m a happy bunny.

I got home to find a message on the answer phone inviting me for a blood test, so I rang back and the receptionist also wished me a happy birthday and asked if I had anything planned. I said well I’ve had a bit of excitement already I’ve been for a blood test. She was very quick witted and said ok I only rang to wish you happy birthday. As if😀

Thanks, WN, it's nice to feel wanted. I do come in useful sometime, obviously, be it few and far between. I think you just called to see if we were up and about. I'll have you know that "the royal" we had just completed the last clothes washing of this trip, until we get home of course, and were getting ready to go out for the day.

Bakers all very best with your move. Hope everything goes to plan over the next day or two. Then you can have the rest your deserve.

Enjoy your trip to the Cotswolds, TW, yours to Yorkshire next week Helen, and yours down at your van Moulesy.

Millie, hope you get to NI without to much trouble, and have a lovely time over there.
