Windows finally finished today, we've had a few hiccups but the fitter has been great checking with us all the time that it's as we want it done. Shame we couldn't say the same about head office 😞
Think it's going to be winter again tomorrow after a couple of mild days.
Prep on the van going well and I've even managed to do some sewing today.
Window Sills again tomorrow another coat of varnish.
Finally got a negative test, just as my isolation is finishing, that's 11 days since the first positive test and 16 days since first symptoms. How they can say isolate for 5 days then it's OK to go back to work is beyond me. Still got a bit of a head cold.

Continuing to do the last preparation for the move. I feel mentally drained by the whole process. Offer accepted on the one were buying 9th October and on our house accepted 30 September. Exchange of contracts 11 February complete 11 April, just 4 buyers in the chain, top buying new build bottom nothing to sell...... Lord knows how a long chain gets on, no wonder sellers are asking for cash buyers!!
The anxiety subsided once we'd exchanged but 18 weeks to get there! Then 8 weeks for builder to do the personalising, house was built by mid January (I think someone may have upset him??).
DEBSC we wouldn't be going if we didn't want to be nearer family, 1.5 hours away.
Anyways that said, I'm having a good rest having paced myself to do things to get to this stage, even the freezer is almost empty, frozen veg, loaf of bread, oven chips and a packet each of scones and hotcross buns. They'll be gone very soon and freezer can be properly defrosted for the first time in years. We will have the expense of restocking, it a large chest freezer, it and the cupboards just a prices are rising.....
Just got to pack an overnight bag and place all the folded clothing which currently live on built in shelves or drawers into suitcases which will act as temporary storage. I've moved virtually all of it already just the need everyday bits to go. Still find myself opening the usual drawer even though I know it's been rehoused! Then the final vac in places that haven't seen the light for a while once the furniture is out. All paintwork washed etc.
Wet and grey here again, despite thermometer reading higher it doesn't feel it.
Well onwards and upwards.....

Bakers2 I hope everything goes well with the final part of your move, it sounds exhausting but you are well organised.
I woke early thinking it was Weds when our garden help returns for this year, I've now slowed up for Tues.
Out to the theatre tonight to see a Miss Marple Agatha Christie play. The lead role being played by former Summer Wine actress who played "Barry's wife" can't remember her name! Anyway nice to get out, it will be masks on at the theatre again.0 -
Grey miserable rainy and cold today
but as my isolation is now over and I'm testing negative I can go out to the shops
OH gone down for an hour to the Men's Shed, hasn't been able to go until today.
Once he's back we will go into town. I need a new 2.5 inch brush to varnish the window Sills, the one I have is a bit small, does the job but takes ages and you get more brush marks which I don't like. Quite a few other bits and pieces to pick up as well, then the food on the way back.
Wil be glad to get away from this exciting life

The weather up north around Keith where we are going next week is snow, hope it vanishes before we get there.
Bakers2, it seems to have taken forever to get to the stage you are now. Certainly puts me off ever moving again. I did more than enough of that in the Army, lots of packing and cleaning but at least we didn't have all the other worries that goes with house purchase. Just didn't get a say where we lived, had to be very adept at making it 'home' in a short space of time. The boys became very good at making new friends and adapting. I'm sure once you get settled in you will reap the benifits of being close to your family.
Oh well must go and get dressed as OH will be back soon.

What can one say Robsail? Only that my heartfelt condolenscences go to you on the loss of your wife and my very best wishes to you for the recovery of your son. What a dreadful last few months it has been for you.
I do hope that you take care of yourself and if sailing helps then carry on sailing.

A morning of tidying up jobs in town, pharmacy, library, bank and charity shop deposits etc.
Trying to get myself a second booster. As I wasn't considered vulnerable when vaccines started out I am not on repeat lists, due to me being such a youngster.
But since 2020 my condition would now qualify but Kidney consultants say GP must refer me, GP says they don't do it and I must contact NHS Wales who say they can't do anything without referral.
Just sent a very polite email to GP. This will be before the not so polite one.1 -
So sorry to read your news, Robsail, our sincere condolences. Take care of yourself.

Hope that the move goes to plan , B2, and you are soon settled down in your new home.
Good to hear that you have gotten over the virus, TG. Hope the snow has gone by the time you get up to Keith.
Today has been the wettest of our trip so far. Not done a lot, just a few shortish walks from the van today. We move on down to the Coast tomorrow so hope for a better day.
Hope you get a decent response from your GP, WN, and can qualify for the Spring booster.
Tda, fingers crossed that the results of your OH's scan are just what you want. Best of luck with your jewellery project.

Just catching up after a hectic few days.
Very sad news from both Robsail and TG, our thoughts are with you all.
We are getting ready for departure on Friday, off to St Andrew's to take over our van from DD and family and head north on Saturday,
We will be not so far from you TG, arriving at Craigellachie on Thursday next week, so I do hope the forecast for snow is wrong!
We have tomorrow and Thursday to get organised....pack clothes, bedding, towels etc, and some food in the car, hopefully we already have everything else we will need in the caravan. Never had to pack stuff to take in the car before, bound to forget something.
DD and family have had a bit of a fraught time. Callum has not been too well, first Covid then a stomach bug before they went away, seemed better, but is just not 100% and still complaining of tummy pains.
Then on Sunday night the wind got up and they ended up with a collapsed awning due to a bent pole. We had to drive over there with spare poles, get the thing back up, and mend the hole in the fabric. So that was a day lost for our packing.
They had a visit from SIL's parents who were staying in Dundee for a few days, so treated us all to fish and chips for dinner. Was late before we got home again.
Today we have been at DD's house as she had arranged to have smart meters fitted. OH did washing and I started the painting in the recently renovated study, so now have aching arms.

Kj, we will be up at Tarland on Tuesday until Thursday, then we move to the CL at Findochty until the following Tuesday. We will have to be away early that day as OH has been told this evening its his Mums funeral that afternoon. It's a good 3 hours drive from there to home depending on traffic.
Where are you going once you leave St Andrews?

Robsail as with the others my thoughts are with you. So sorry.

Francis. We saw her in action last night as Miss Marples in "A Murder is Announced" I think the play is on tour with the Middleground Theatre Company. Quite entertaining even though it's so dated. It was nice to have an evening out.

Dull grey day here today we have been finalising our plans for our main summer break so it’s now 2 and a half weeks in Devon and then a week in Chester looking forward to that here’s hoping we get good weather this summer. Also ordered a new awning this morning a new Dorema Mistral porch awning we saw it at Duncan’s Caravans on Saturday and liked them so after a bit of research we called up and ordered one they look really good we will sell our Kampa Air awning it’s been good but to be honest we haven’t found it easy to put up certainly not all it was cracked up to be and took a lot of effort to pump it up so we are going back to a pole awning

An upmarket car park David.

Francis, We have a Mistral awning. It's excellent. We don't use it a great deal though but when we do we have found it the bees knees. Just like you we switched from a Kampa porch awning, although not an air one. The Mistral is quite a bit heavier but not too difficult to erect or dismantle and sturdy in bad weather. I like the sloping roof as well.
Plus they have finished the street works in Chester now and the two way system is back in operation.

Thanks for the feedback about the awning WN we have to collect it next week some time so we will hopefully get to try it out while we are away over the Easter weekend it looked good when we saw it in the showroom at the weekend. Our Kampa air awning was great once it was up but it was such an effort to pump it up even with an electric pump it took ages and even then still mostly had to do it with the manual pump. Daughter says she will sell it for us on Facebook so hopefully get a bit of money back for it we have had it almost 5 years and had good use out of it. Will update you once we have tried out the new one next week Thanks for the info on Chester when we were there near the end of last year there were a lot of road works so good to know they will be gone when we are back in the summer PS I must agree with David we like Chapel Lane we use it every year on our way south as a stopover but we did stay there for a whole week last summer and found it a great base for exploring the midlands
