Sheringham in Norfolk is the same ,one time we were walking on one of the roads in the back streets mand got talking to a lady who was checking the second homes and said the over half the cottages in that road were second homes,

The bar manager at Seacroft was born in Sheringham but had moved to North Walsham  as he and his fiancé could now not afford Sherringham prices

We got back early this afternoon from a lovey 4 night break at Low Moor Head CL in Cumbria one of our faves great little site in a great location with first class owners. Weather was good the whole time we were there I got out a couple of nice cycle rides and we managed to cook on the Cadac every day. FAO Corners the Oddfellows is under new management but for some reason they aren’t doing meals until May we did however get a lovey meal in The Bank Tavern which as usual was great. Easy 2 and a half hour tow home today roads surprisingly not too busy even around Glasgow was fine. Van now back in it’s space not away mow until the end of next week where we are off on another 4 night break. Weather lovely when we got back so had a BBQ and got things sorted out in the garden

Hi TG. Not a hint, more a reference to Helen and her birthday which is today I think. Hope you've been spoilt Helen.

We're off in just under 3 weeks. We're leaving 3 days earlier than planned as we have to get to Harwich for the ferry. Cancelled our P&O sailing after what they did to the staff. Nasty.

Morning spent painting the bathroom ceiling. Needs another coat some time this week. Afternoon in the garden cutting back a Forsythia that's gone woody. Of course you then find other areas that need attention.

Good luck for tomorrow. Hope it all goes to plan.

Sounds like a grand short break Francis.

Well the B/H ended with a dose of rain but we did well over the last three days and got a lot of gardening done. Hoping to have a couple of nights away soon and then a longer trip planned. Good to hear others have enjoyed their holidays. smile

Thank you for the birthday wishes, I had a really lovely day, I was very spoilt had some lovely pressies, including a ""Micheala  Strachan ""bobble hat, will take a pic and post later.🤣

It was Beautiful sunrise and clear so we can see all the way down the coast to Flamborough, you can even see the lighthouse flash in the evenings.

We walked along the beach from Sandsend to Whitby with youngest son and his girlfriend, the sea was a bit chilly apparently  🥶  we met other son and Grand daughter when we got to Whitby, which was fairly busy.

We all went out for a meal in the evening and then we had  a gorgeous cake 🎂  back at the windmill which we had with pink prosecco.

It has been really lovely to spend time with the family and our grand daughter Serena has been wonderful.

Suppose I might have to motivate myself soon, just enjoying a cuppa in bed, youngest son is out on his bike doing another 30+ mile ride, Serena is quiet so think the others are enjoying a lie in. 🙂

Took the photo from the garden yesterday morning.

Lovely cottage you are in H&T. North York Moors area is one of our very favourite places. Goathland is lovely as Rocky says. There’s a fabulous walk from there all the way to Grosmont, where the NYM railway has its engine sheds and shop to visit, very interesting👍 Hutton Le Hole is absolutely lovely this time of year as well, with daffys and lambs everywhere. Hope the weather stays nice for you, and belated birthday wishes.

We are all packed, house sitter organised, so “wagons roll” at some point. (I may have spent a bit too long as a youngster watching old cowboy films with my Grandad I think🤣)

Another bright sunny day. Ideal for more field work. Rolling meadows before the grass is too long, and harrowing and stone picking before reseeding a couple of fields.

That's outside - inside the sun is pouring in and dazzling me as I sort out some paperwork and bills.

No getting away at this time of year, but we did a have an Easter Sunday Lunch with our son and family, then sat out in the Summerhouse with the door open (first time this year).

Non meat eater click away now.

And yesterday we collected some beef. Three weeks ago we took a Dairy Shorthorn/Beef Shorthorn Cross to a local abattoir. We share a large chest freezer in the barn with my son and family and it's now full of the amazing looking meat. Steaks, joints, mince, diced galore.

Nice easy run down A1 for us, found CL easily, and what a delight it is. Already done one small walk, hopefully tomorrow will be a nice bike ride. We are only ones on Site tonight, another due in tomorrow. Great to find such a lovely, laid back and quiet place in the midst of holiday period. 😁

Great to hear that folk are out and about enjoying the lovely weather we have been having over the holiday weekend.  Happy birthday to Helen and fingers crossed to Flyte, that the vet can sort things out, Nellie.  The trouble with our pets is that they can't really tell us 'how thing are for them' - finger crossed....

As we were out in the caravan at the beginning of last week, we've spent this weekend tidying up the garden and continuing to clean the caravan (I just do a bit at a time!) - just got a tiny bit left to do now - mainly one of two of those 'black streaks' that I spotted whilst cleaning the outside.  I needed a special trip down to Jacksons to get some Fenwicks Black Streak remover.  Also took the opportunity to get some 'awning rail protector strips' to try and keep the black streaks at bay for the future.  I've treated all the rubber seals with silicone spray, but I still need to get my tyres changed as they are almost at 'sell by date'.

Pleased with the way the garden is looking now, although I managed to break my garden broom this afternoon, so we've just come back from the garden centre .  I just need to keep on top of everything now.

Almost ready to take the caravan out again... 😀

Have a wonderful time David.  Hope the weather keeps good...  It's been good here, but I'd put money on Spain being warmer... just keep away from the plain... that's where they say the rain falls... mainly!   😀😀 🏖🏝

Went for a coffee at NT Barrington Court this morning, it's been closed for a long time and the house isn't open, due for repairs, roof leaking etc. A big change with a new  car park and now there's a walk in via a path.

We then went on to The Ranch caravan park between South Petherton and Martock to pick up some fishing licences (people fish the river Parrett next to the site.) They have a nice cafe there, a Tapas night coming up if visitors can't get to Spain. wink

Helen your holiday home looks great and it sounds like you've had a lovely time with your family. smile

Managed to get into see the vet this morning. She admitted that there was little she could do, especially as Flyte seems to be getting adjusted to his condition and looking so fit and well. We will continue with the eye drops, which are both an anticeptic and a steroid for the time being and if any deterioration then we will have to take him to an ophthalmologist. Then it was the dental hygienist for me this afternoon, after dropping off bags of now unwanted stuff from our loft.

Tda, God to read that you got away ok and that the site is to your liking.

Helen, glad you had a lovely birthday, and are enjoying your stay up on the Yorkshire coast.

Have a good time over there, AD. Although it is fine here I guess you will be having warmer weather.

It’s good to know Flyte is doing ok Nellie, with good owners most dogs quickly adjust to something like his condition, and he will have lots of kindness and support from you, which will keep his confidence up. As you know, our pooch has been seeing a specialist eye vet for around three years now. It isn’t cheap, but he’s doing very well, so worth every penny. Hope things stay ok for you all👍

Had a bit of an explore along canal this afternoon, so many walks around here, and looking forward to a nice bike ride tomorrow. It’s turned quite cool though, but we have plenty of kit with us. So long as I don’t wobble, and fall into canal🤣

Nells, when my old retriever came to the end of her days she lost her sight rapidly to the point she’d get disoriented, she still loved a paddle around in the fields & beach off lead but she’d freeze & whimper when she thought I’d gone. I started to cluck my tongue(more a clicking sound rather than a chicken tbh🙂) & she adapted to it to such an extent she’d do a 360 around me to varying degrees of distance. She enjoyed the freedom but had the confidence of knowing I was there. It worked when she awoke too she did sleep well, the sound I made led her to me. You are doing what all Dog lovers do-adapting, Flyte will do the same👍🏻

I am sure you will just be glad to get some normality back AD, enjoy.🙂

Nice morning here, so the bike ride is on, once the pooch has had a good walk. We don’t have parakeets, but we do have pheasants and woodpeckers.😁

Fabulous bike ride, around 16 miles, but only something like a mile of that on quiet public road. The rest was canal path, ex railway, and bridle paths. Warm enough for shorts and t shirt as well. I did fall off, but luckily not into canal.🤣 Very rough bridleway, but apart from some gravel rash I am fine. Strange occurrence though, I could hear something rattling on my bike front wheel. Upon inspection, every single one of the screws holding my brake disc on had gone. Bike was carefully checked before we set off, no sign of any problems. My “soigneur” sorted it, I borrowed two screws off his front disc. Scenery glorious, lots of wildlife.

    Had a smashing day today.

We decided to have a walk and drove to Corwen, just along the road from Llangollen. Parked up in town and walked up above it to a monument with views of the valley and across to the hill fort opposite, where we were headed in the second part of the walk. Couple of interesting items found en route in the first part, see photos (the "hammer" coming in handy for a well earned rest). Then down to the River Dee and along it and up the hill fort, Caer Drewyn for lunch. Wonderful weather and songbirds galore accompanying us all the way. Swallows and Skylarks, warblers and woodpeckers etc.

Just got back to the car in time before parking ticket expired for a well earned ice cream before driving home over the Moors. Not many people about or traffic.

Sounds like a nice day as well Ttda. Good job you had Mr.Fixit with you!laughing

Looks as if both WN and tda, and their respective partners, have had a lovely although different day.

A glass of well deserved wine before, and after, the visit to the supermarket, AD? I think you might just deserve them.

Our day was a bit different too, but quite as enjoyable! An early rise, as I hurt my back yesterday evening and struggled to sleep, and out with Flyte before the children were on their way to school at the start of a new term. Then down to a nearby pharmacy for our Spring boosters, all done and dusted within 10 mins, including filling in the required forms. Phizer again, and no adverse reactions so far. Another walk in our local park where there are some lovely floral displays. We might have been out too long as Flyte was playing up a bit just as we headed to the car, so will know for future. Then a visit to the doctor's for me as I might have a couple of BCCs on my temples, having had one removed from my nose 15 mins ago. Great service from GP practice, requested appointment yesterday morning, late phone appointment with a doctor last evening, practice phoned back mid morning to arrange having a face to face with a doctor this afternoon! Now await rapid referral to hospital dermatologist..

As I mentioned elsewhere we took the motorhome in for an engine recall today. Had to take it to Wellingborough. Walked into the town for a coffee, rather than waiting at the dealers. When we came back from Peterborough about ten days ago there was no diesel available so I filled up today on the way home, that was painful! Plus 30p a litre since I last filled up. At least I have a full tank in readiness for a long trip in May.

Great day today, we spent the morning at RSBP Bempton watching the seabirds including a few puffins but no sightings of the Albatross. It was misty on the coast but clear inland.

Spent a few hours in Filey on the way back. Family meal back at the windmill and a few drinks tonight.

We are enjoying our break, the Windmill is a lovely holiday let, although being a windmill there are just a few stairs 😀

Grandchildren were at Bempton the other day and saw the Albatross but were disappointed there weren't any Puffins! Pleased you found Filey - it's one of our favourite spots for a day out from home. It hasn't really changed in the sixty or so years I have been going there and still retains its 'old world charm'. It's the one seaside resort on the east coast that hasn't succumbed to commercialisation, even though it gets very busy. We always park on the big grassy car park to the north, just below the Brigg - and sit on the cliff tops eating fish and chipssmile

    My guess is Rosaleda?

The €4 seems reasonable, and cheaper than what is often asked for to get a tap & drain however I wont discuss this as it may lead to a new 'want'!
