What are you all up to

We've had a busy few days, GKids and our eldest son arrived on Monday evening. We arrived back from a week on the Moray coast a few hours before them.
Tuesday was OHs Mum's funeral, all went well and OH met up with relatives that he hasn't seen since he was a boy. Turns out one lives in the next village to us.
Our son met relatives for the first time and we all learnt things about OHs Mum that we never knew before. Funerals have a way of doing that. It was a sad day but a happy one all at the same time, she would have liked that.
Yesterday was washing both cars and the caravan. Taking a trailer load of waste to the recycle centre, doing food shopping. Our son took the gKids back to boarding school late afternoon. Today OH and son are going up to his house to confirm what needs to be done before they can move back in later in the year. Then after lunch he's going to head back down to Wiltshire, he was going to go on Friday but decided Thursday might be a better day.
Hopefully the MH will be ready to collect today, it was in getting a window re sealed, we took it in last Monday before we went away saying we needed it back upon our return as we want to prepare for France. Unfortunately he was taken ill last week so never got to work on it, now he's playing catch up. With just 12 days until we go we are a bit anxious it's going to be done in time.
Our next door neighbours have returned from their holiday in Majorca, all now have Covid, again. Started with the Mum (her first time) then the little girl, now Dad has it, the little boy seems to have missed it so far but it's possible he had it while he was away. Friends that they went with also have it.
Its a lovely sunny start to the day, unlike me but I've been up for over an hour already, just couldn't sleep to many things going round my head.

I expect you need a few days of calm TammyG, pleased to hear the farewells to your Mum in law went well. Hope you get the window fixed in time.
All the holidays sound lovely. We have two nights away soon, just enough for a re-charge.
Had a message and photos from visiting dog's "parents" who have moved on to a YHA hostel half way up Helvellyn (vertigo inducing shots of Striding Edge included before signals lost.) The hostel looked good value, private rooms, various prices. They spent the previous days in a nice cottage near Cartmel, now have a family funeral before they return. Visiting dog having a wonderful time ambushing walkers as they go along our right of way, he can't get to them, it's all hedged and field fenced....🐶🐺
Hope you can sort out your skin problems Nellie, you obviously have good medics locally. Hope Spain is looking good for David and OH, it will be interesting to hear where you are.
Helen, your knees will be working hard but the place looks lovely!
Nice to read all the out and about posts, dentist for OH this morning so we're not doing much today.

Glad the funeral went as best as it could have TG.
Mrs WN also at the dentist this morning so it took up the morning as we had to go to Chester for a mid morning appointment.
Spent some of the afternoon putting a second coat of paint on the bathroom ceiling.
Think of the Thigh muscles you'll have Helen!

If anyone's staying near Bridport, Dorset at the weekend head to BuckyDoo Square 10-12pm for a blast of the Bridport Big Band sound, they're great players and there'll be a singer there too. They played recently to raise funds for the Ukraine appeal and if you like the sound of anything from the Glenn Miller era and all the big jazz standards you're in for a treat. (And some terrible "Dad jokes" from the band leader thrown in....
) Just wander through or grab a bench seat.
End of advert, our very own trumpet player will be doing solos! 🎵🎺🎷

Phew! the van window is done, looks good to. I've been busy all afternoon taking things out to it and finding homes for them.
OH took it to fill up with diesel on the way home, not quite full but the pump stops at £99
also topped up with LPG it took 9 litres, that's gone up from 78p a litre now 99.9p, still cheap compared to Calor.
Thanks brue and WN.
Hope you have a nice break away brue. Sounds like your visiting dog was having fun😊

Quickie look in for us, limited signal. Been another lovely day here, spent most of it at Easton Walled Gardens. Loving this Site, we have added on an extra night. Our neighbours depart tomorrow, leaving us on our own again. Another long bike ride for OH tomorrow, I have opted for dog sitting, a bit of a stroll, some knitting, and then a shorter bike ride to a nearby church.
Regards to one and all, home and away😁

Had a lovely day, yesterday. Took our dear friends from Old Malton out for lunch at the Fox and Hounds in the pretty little village of Sinnington, just outside Pickering. It's Phil's (as in Philomena!) 83rd Birthday on Tuesday, but since we go home on Sunday, we had an early celebration. As ever, the food was lovely and the weather was kind so we were able to sit outside in the garden. Needless to say, we didn't even bother with a snack, last night.
Met up with a couple on site whom we met last year, so that was good - there's only then two of us here at the moment but I expect the weekenders will be arriving today.
Was chatting to the owner and his son, yesterday who were saying how it is getting increasingly difficult to make a living out of farming - especially with the prospect of subsidies disappearing this year - hence their opening of two beautiful holiday cottages they have created from old farm buildings. It seems madness that farming is going this way and we're going to becoming increasingly dependent on imported foodstuffs with all the implications that brings with it.

Yesterday we visited Broxa Forest, we haven't been before in all the years we have been visiting the area. The weather was fabulous and we only met one other person walking their dogs, on a circular walk, very peaceful just us and the birds. Picture is the view from the top just along from the car park.
Had to pick up a Pork and Stilton pie we had ordered from Jacksons and then parked up at West Cliff away from the crowds in Whitby which was shrouded in the sea fret and about 10° colder.
Last full day today
weather forecast is good again today just got to decide what to do.
Glad you enjoyed your day out R&R and Ttda
Time to motivate myself, Have a good day everyone

Sounds like everyone is have a good time out and about. Still cleaning the caravan and alternating with sorting out the garden, here.
Caravan finished yesterday.. apart from the skylights - seriously thinking of unscrewing them and taking them off to clean them... (not done this before, so am a bit apprehensive).
Big bag of gravel arriving on Monday to top up the gravel we already have.. wished I knew where gravel dissapears too. Probably a proportion ends up in the doggy poo bags!! 😃😃
U3A Choir starts back up today after one week off for Good Friday, and church choir tonight... they don't get a week off. Looking forward to our little break at Conkers C&CC site with a group of friends. The trouble with going to Conkers is that it's fair close to home and apart from living in the caravan, everything else seems to carry on as normal..

Notwithstanding my wish to boycott P&O, I have utilised my two year old IOU, to book a crossing for our long postponed trip to Annecy. They steadfastly refused to give me a refund despite their current absence of sailings. Lets hope they get their act into gear and they actually have ferry to travel on.

Morning
You'll enjoy St.Neots jvb, that used to be one of our weekend boltholes if we didn't want to travel too far from home. Used to be able to get a temporary fishing license from the site staff and go sit by the river and catch nothing! Nice relaxing place.
How are you getting on with your pvc?

We are back from our trip to N.Ireland. We had a lovely time. It was so good to be with the family and in such a lovely place as well. The weather wasn't as good at at home (no surprise there!) but it was very pleasant and we had some lovely trips out and long walks with their dog. OH started to feel unwell on our last day and tested positive when we got home. He has been feeling rubbish with a very heavy cold and aches etc but is feeling much better today. I am a few days behind him so am still feeling below par with the same symptoms. Hopefully mine will clear up as quickly as OH's. We both had our 4th jab a few weeks ago which will hopefully help. It means both of us are grounded for the time being which is frustrating.
You sound as though you are having a wonderful holiday Helen. It is such a lovely part of the world and it must be lovely to get all the family together. I know what you mean about stairs. Our son's house in NI is a very old house built on a hill with the back overlooking the harbour so it is 3 storeys at the front and 4 storeys at the back. I don't think the muscles in the backs of my legs have recovered yet!
Have a wonderful time all those that are away. We had a few trips out planned for this week and next but we are now stuck at home.

Thanks H&T…….a Roman Fort? Cawthorn Camp is hidden away deep in Cropton Forest, a great walk around with stunning views. Fort itself is huge, mainly earthworks, but you get some idea of what it was like. Little car park, around half a mile stroll to Fort itself. Some good pubs on the drive there as well. Have a good last day. https://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/visiting/enjoy-outdoors/walking/our-walks/walking-routes/cawthorn-roman-camps
Our last full day here, and the sun is shining again. Bicycle bells are ringing😁

Sorry to hear your trip to NI has ended as it has Millie, hope you pick up safely soon. We are enjoying our visit not far from your area immensely, on a CL a few miles from Grantham. We were at Easton again yesterday, a really lovely place. Loving the Grantham Canal and the Viking Way.

We had hoped to visit Easton Walled Garden sometime this week tda but our plans have now changed. Never mind hopefully soon, I am glad you are enjoying the area. I didn't know about Grantham Canal.

We hand back our "extra" dog today, his parents have been "up there" whilst he's been down here! Striding Edge on photo.
Hope you both feel better soon Millie. Have a good weekend everyone, my phone is playing up, so limited access.

Millie, canal is Beautiful, lovely for walking and cycling, and lots of wildlife. We are around quarter of a mile away, so my bike ride today will be up and along path to canalside pub at Woolsthorpe under Belvoir, into village for an explore and see if I can get into church. We were sat across canal from pub having a breather on Wednesday, just saying hello to our pitch neighbours who were out for a stroll. A very exotically and colourfully dressed woman came ambling along with a friend, and we all did a double take……we knew we had seen her somewhere before, but not sure🤔 Then the penny dropped. It was actress Sue Pollard, who stopped to say hello and were we having a good time. She didn’t look and different to her height of fame days. 😁

St Neots was recommended by a ccc member who lives near us and uses it as their bolt hole we use FM
The PVC like us ,has a few age related problems ,but in use it has proved for me to be much better for our situation and with the trailer loaded with much of what I had to load and off load at each stop with the c/van, I can now unload what is needed when needed,
The sales
and service dept
at the dealership have been very helpful ,so far, and considering the age of the PVC have been very good ,with getting it ready for our trial to see how it works
Most of this clubs staff at the sites so far used have been very attentive to help where appropriate
Thanks for asking

Sorry to hear you're not well millie - hope you recover soon. Haven't we come a long way though - thanks largely to the vaccine programme. Two years ago we were all absolutely terrified of catching covid because of the risk of it being fatal - but now it seems that it's affecting most people in a way not much worse than a heavy cold. We're still not being complacent, however. Get well soon.

Good to hear things are working out for you JV. If it keeps you and your OH touring safely and in comfort, then that’s good. Long might it continue👍

Well we have just entered a bid on another full and final offer, for a house. We have missed out on three others that went the same way, they have all gone for many, many, thousands over the asking price, which we have found often has no relation to the final selling price. A friend was telling me that her sister offered £45,000 over an asking price and still didn’t get it! It is all getting a bit silly. Wish we had realised all this when we accepted an offer on ours, but then it seems people don’t want a semi detached, which we have never had a problem with. Busy now catching up on housework and garden tidying after the family have left for home.

Like others we too are sorry to hear about you having to endure a bout of Covid Millie. Hope you both recover. The extra boosters should indeed help. Look on the bright side though, you will be able to spend more time being denied access on CT.
Are you still doing your German course?
A quiet day here although I was up and out early for a Tesco shop. Surprised to find it was raining, although it didn't last long and sun now beating out with a cold easterly wind. Trying to get all our ducks in a row, paperwork wise, so that MiL not left with any surprises when we go away soon.
Normal household tasks plus a bit of gardening now that the rain has softened the ground and made weeding easier.
Good to hear those out and about are enjoying their time away.
Lovely photo Brue. I wonder if I'll ever get up there again?

Millie
Sorry to hear you both have COVID, hope you recover soon. My eldest son and his wife have it at the moment, its the second time for Marisa. We were at their house a week ago although only briefly indoors together so we have been wondering if we will succumb? We will do another test at the weekend which will be 10 days. I checked the NHS website for how long it takes to catch which can be up to 10 days. Another interesting thing they mentioned is the risk is greater if overnight in someone else's house which I imagine is what you have done?

We are in the first of our two cottage breaks now, just outside Clitheroe, having had a surprisingly easy journey up the M5/M6 this morning - just slow going in the roadwork areas but moving smoothly all the time. Arrived just in time for a fabulous lunch at a pub called the Waddington Arms (Jill, this is your neck of the woods, you may know it, but can highly recommend the place). And then into the cottage slightly early (
) and it's a real cracker - one of a small group of barns converted in 2015, down the end of a long farm track so very peaceful. Sat out this afternoon listening to one of my favourite sounds, curlews singing, and admiring the views over the fields to Pendle Hill.
Planning the Pendleton to Downham circular walk tomorrow when the weather looks promising again!
