Brue I suspect panic buying for fuel. Madness.
I too had a sort out of bits for Ukraine after an appeal on our neighbourhood fb. I had sorted my stuff and taken bits to charity shops a few weeks back, but had hung onto some scarves and gloves that I haven't worn for years - so decided their need greater than mine. We also did OH's wardrobe, which he hadn't done and there were several warm jumpers that no longer fit, plus loads of new hats and scarves. I was meeting a friend in town so went into Primark for sets of pants, socks, and vests, one set for male and female for adults and children, then Wilko for toothbrushes and other toiletries. I'll bag it all up and take round to the collection point this evening, it's going out to Poland at the weekend. I can't do much go help but I send it with love and hope 🥲🥲.
Dull and damp here. Enjoyed our morning walk, but Dora still resting from yesterday's excursions! She due to go out with OH very soon. Time to think about dinner and pancakes. Trying to keep normality as best as were able.
Takethedogalong hope you and your mum enjoy your birthdays 🎂

Brue we have been thinking of going to Clarke’s shopping centre for a few things, we used to go for the day but more recently we have combined it with a trip to Wells and a one night stopover, also visiting a nice garden centre. Will leave it now though until, hopefully, the petrol situation sorts itself out. We always need some in the tank for visiting our daughter and any emergencies they may have.
We also have a new Aldi, it was packed when we visited, just for a few bits. We do like their fish cakes. I also bought a bottle of marmite look alike, haven’t tried it yet but it was much cheaper than marmite so we will see. Think we will be using three local shops now. Tesco for a big main shop. Iceland for the chest freezer and Aldi for bits and bobs, oh yes and Home Bargains for toilet rolls and wild bird food. Good job we are retired.
Well done Bakers2 and others for your efforts in helping those poor souls. It’s so hard to think that one deranged tyrant can bring so much heartache and misery. Do humans never learn from history.

Francis - according to the TIC a few of the pubs are being affected, those owned by Jenings. The Oddfellows, banks, and the George. They are not renewing the current tenants and bringing in their own teams to run then. The locals are not happy at all.
Wall to wall sunshine here today, after a wet day yesterday. Just walked around Keswick and a trip on the local open top bus to Seatoller.

Wall to wall sunshine here today, after a wet day yesterday.
That sunshine followed us up past Carlisle, Corners, and there was no wind either, after quite a hard frost in the night. Just a shame that we were booked to move on or we would have taken the bus to Threlkeld and walked to Keswick along the old line, now that the damaged bridges have been replaced. On a new to us CL, opposite a county pub which is doing a roaring trade tonight. We are way out in the back of beyond so are surprised just how many have come out here. This is an ideal site for those that want to get away from all the news, no TV or phone reception, limited wifi, and very peaceful during the day. We saw only 4 cars during the time we set up, took Flyte for his walks and sat down for lunch. A clear sky tonight so the sky will be a mass of stars, definitely a dark sky site which would suit a certain CT member.

Very slow getting on here AGAIN but Brian's not really complaining 'cos the delay of about four (4) minutes allowed me to use both eyes on the Footy match on telebox and to see 19 year old lad playing for Mighty Middlesborough score the goal that takes them thro to next round of F.A. CUP !! Nothing personal in this But Brian does not really support Tottenham .

How good were they Brian👏👏👏 Some heart in mouth moments hanging 😲on, but they really did deserve the win. Had it gone to penalties, I would have backed them to win a shoot out, their spot kicks were magnificent against Man Utd. But to win outright was great. The atmosphere at The Riverside is always special, noisy, partisan, but good natured. We need to say sorry to our neighbours this morning for all the noise last might🤣 They won’t mind though. Darent dream any further than next match though……🤞
Horribly dull and damp here, glad I got out in garden yesterday. Greenhouse tidied, plants in there given some TLC, and a dozen or so different seeds set in trays. Today it’s back to bathroom, some present wrapping for Mum, and some more crafting. Hope folks have better weather than us.🙂

Arrived yesterday at the new site. First day opening for the season and only about a dozen units on an 80 pitch site. Got out for a walk in a cold wind yesterday afternoon.
Today has been a rain fest. Went out for an hour before lunch and had to use the full waterproof regalia.
We've seen this site, Fields End Water, develop over 30 years, visiting about once in every 7/8 years or so. Originally just a C.L. attached to a Fishing Lakes and farm enterprise it has expanded into a full blown commercial site but kept the C.L. in a separate area. As the CL is still all grass we're on the all serviced hardstanding pitches, which actually turns out to be about £1 per night cheaper than the C.L. It's very popular with the fishing community and you can hire a pod or lodge now, some set around a new fishing area. So, if that's your thing then it's worth the visit.
The C.L. did give us one of our stand out highlights many years ago though when we were woken up by the song of a Turtle Dove sitting in a nearby tree. Memorable. Can't remember hearing another one in the U.K. in all of the intervening years. I think the site is too busy nowadays for the possibility of a return.

Well, no crafting or bathroom DIY at all happened here today, but we have had the most delightful afternoon. Our dear niece brought her lovely little six month old little girl to meet her Grand Uncle, myself having said a very brief hello a few months ago. So rare for us to spend time with very young children, but what a gorgeous happy little soul she is, kept us entertained most of the afternoon. We used to take her Mum out with us regular when she was a little girl, and every weekend she would come horse riding with us, so it’s is lovely to say hello to the next generation. A very unusual and special day for us😁

We visited Low Force yesterday, TDA, but ga e High Force a miss. After visiting Low Force, we drove up to High Force. The hotel seemed to be charging for parking and to get down to the waterfall, so as we'd already been to Low Force, we saved our money for a hot drink and a cake later on in the day.
Back home today, but not a pleasant day to pack up and drive home. Anyway, our next outing is Devizes C&CC site - combining it with a visit to see our younger daughter who lives in Devizes...

Glad you got to your site OK, WN, hope the weather picks up for your stay there and you get to see the birds to went to view.
Sounds like a good day for you and the rest of the family, tda. Birthday greetings to you and your mum on the appropriate dates.
After such a beautiful day yesterday today was rather different, but we didn't get any rain till 3:00 this afternoon just as we were getting back from our day out on The Wall!! Walked a stretch from Banks to view the turrets then visited Birdoswald Roman Fort. After lunch walked down to Willowford Bridge from Gilsland, along a fine section of the wall, and then onto Poltross Burn Mile Castle. The rains now stopped so I'm off for a pint across the road, with OH's premission of course.😊

That sounds a really lovely day tda.

Yes, you do have to pay for parking, but I think that includes access to the falls. It is spectacular, especially in full spate. Something for another visit. It’s an area we really love, have explored all around there, and we usually drive across the moors to get to Hexham or Corbridge, and then on up to Scotland. Glad you got home safe, but a very nasty pack up day.

Arrived at Skybarn Farm CL, near Lincoln, yesterday. Although we haven't had much rain at home for ages, it blessed us with our presence as we were setting up! Nice soggy towing cover to dry out on the fence, this morning!!
Think I did a bit too much - physically - yesterday and I'm suffering a bit for it now so we are having a lazy day in the van. Almost got sunshine back again.
Off to visit an elderly friend of Ros's on Saturday and we are taking one of the special cream teas that Nicola (the owner) arranges to be delivered to the site. Looking forward to that

Good news re Meg before we left home - the lab test results came back to say that the lump she had removed was a benign cyst and nothing to worry about. She had a lovely time, this morning, romping around the fields like a demented puppy. Wish I had as much energy!

Miserable Grey Wet March day as far as South Cheshire goes ! I need to order some more bird food but I'm not sure if I should get stuff for tubular feeders, bird tables etc or just surrender to nature & buy Duckgoo as one national supplier used to call it ! Duck & goose feed for us purchasers ectually { trying my ooper crust diction again

Well, I'll start again as the original post has decided not to play ball.
Great result for Meg RandR. Pleased for all 3 of you. A weight off your minds. Enjoy the CL.
We spent a very pleasant few hours at Welney Wetland reserve today, although it was a close run thing making it there as all of the surrounding fields in the vicinity of Welney are flooded. The water birds are loving it of course.
Had a lovely time. It's been about 7 years since we were last here and we didn't expect to see 17 Cranes flying around. The intervening years has certainly seen a change in the variety of birds that we can now expect to see in the UK, and of course, soon some species will become harder to see. A goodly variety today and worth the trip.
Did some food shopping on the way home and topped up with diesel.

Glad to read that Meg's growth was benign, RandR. You take care of yourself, too.R
Some good spotting on the wetlands, WN. Hope the weather stays dry for the rest of your stay.
'Twas rather damp up here, so just had a walk in Kershope forest this morning and then visited Bewcastle this afternoon, with it's 13th C church, 8th C cross and ruined 14th C castle, all situated within the bounds of a Roman fort. There is also a small but very interesting museum adjacent to the church.

What a busy couple of days. Yesterday at about 7.45am got a frantic phone call from eldest son who was waiting to board a plane at Gatwick to a holiday in Mexico. He had arranged for a cat sitter to come to his house twice a day to feed and service his cats, rather than putting them in a cattery. He had just had a phone call from the cat sitter to say she couldn't get in the house with the key he had given her! I had to dash over to his house. Didn't even have a chance to put my socks on and the traffic was awful. Fortunately I had a key to a different door so was able to get in but even my duplicate key of the one given to the cat sitter wouldn't open the door. No signal on my phone in his house so have to find the landline. Anyway it was decided that I would feed the cats that morning and we agreed to swap the keys for the cat sitter who we met up with later in the day. Hopefully son can now relax a bit!!! Spoke to him tonight on WhatsApp from Mexico. Not sure a ten hour flight for a weeks holiday seems a bit much to me, but I don't fly anyway!!!
Today was not much better but fortunately not so stressful! Vicky our visiting chiropodist came this morning and then almost as soon as she left we were off to Waitrose for shopping. The good news is their Cafe has now reopened and I enjoyed one of their lovely ciabatta bacon rolls. Rushed back home to unpack and then Margaret had a hair dressing appointment at 2.00pm. What a mad rush. Certainly a change from the dark days of COVID when making the decision to make a cup of coffee was the only decision of the day!! Now we are getting out and about a bit more it does raise the energy levels.
Just in case you were wondering we will pop over to give the cats some human company, if they want it. You know what cats are like!

Strange critturs Indeed, these cats and cat owners, David !! I saw a prog about a fortnight ago about Animal Protection Organisations in cities { Phoenix I think } in the States. They were running short of the folding / collapsible boxes they use for transporting small animals around. Why I hear you asking Well a caring citizen had asked them to look at their neighbours residence.
When they arrived the 'guilty' couple owned up to having rather a lot of animals on site :--
Just a few, like three bull terriers as well as ninety-one ( 91 ) cats. The protection team took a couple of visits to catch the cats but, sadly, less than ten could be saved and re-homed and only about three could be transferred to normal homes, the others were placed with owners who could provide large mesh/netted security runs where the mogs could create their own home territories as before.
?? Human company ?? I should coco ~~ three meals a day more like

Another very cold day here, rain off and on too. Down at DD's as usual on Wednesdays and Thursdays, it was all go down there. She has the builders in renovating the smallest bedroom which they use as a study........ceiling insulation.....floor insulation.....new lighting.....lots of extra sockets.......bigger radiator. Then it will be over to me for laying laminate flooring and fitting all the new oak skirtings, door facings and window sill.
Outside, she has someone building a climbing frame and swings for Callum's birthday next week, and there should have been a gardener there too, but he did not turn up.
OH got started on the washing mountain, and the kitchen, while I was sorting stuff in the garage until it was time to fetch the children from nursery. Callum seemed very tired, he said his legs were tired, and after lunch he and I sat on the sofa and read books, then he fell asleep, which is most unlike him.
There have been several cases of Covid among the children at nursery, so we checked his temperature and found it was a bit high. So when DD was finished work for the day she managed to persuade him to let her do a LFT on him, which proved positive. Other than being tired, he seems fine.
As close contacts, though we are feeling fine, we now need to test daily for 7 days, as do the other grandparents, and Mum and Dad, Callum will be out of nursery for 10 days, and although Nathan is not excluded by any rules, the nursery suggested it would be better if he stayed home too.
At least Callum's enforced isolation should be over in time for his birthday. We will need to find out if we are permitted to continue grandparent duties, if not, then how DD is going to look after the children at home, and keep working, we do not know.
We have no close contacts otherwise, but the other grandparents have a large family who they see quite often, so they may not want to continue until Callum is recovered.

Had difficulty getting on to read let alone login when I've been 'free '.
Good to read news and glad folks enjoying being out and about.
Keeping busy myself getting stuff ready for the move - still 5 weeks come Monday.. Sad week for us this week and webcast funeral this afternoon 😪.
Moulesy thanks for hotel information, someone else recommended pets pyjamas so will definitely look for a break once we're slightly settled!
KjNelln wishing your grandson better and hoping the rest of you manage to avoid catching it.
R&R great news about Meg make sure you rest up too!
Must get going and start their day sorry if I've missed anyone.

Just dropping in, awake early, birds singing away.
Bewcastle looked interesting Nellie, the carvings on the cross are beautiful, they've lasted well. The museum at Whithorn has lots of examples, safely inside out of the weather.
Hope the family keep well KJ and Callum recovers quickly.
DavidK, hope the cats are pleased to see you! Ours always goes to a local cattery, he's too shy to cope with being left and have visitors he doesn't know. At the cattery he's known as Casanova! He's so used to it there and likes female cat company. 🐱He was a rescue cat and undersocialised but obviously has hidden depths.

OH has bought himself an emergency generator, second hand, collecting it today. Something else to play around with...
B2 at least you've got a generous amount of time to finish sorting your move. Sorry to hear you have a funeral today.
Things are growing apace outside, just longing for some milder weather to enjoy doing the garden work.
Hope all the holidays are going well.

😅. I had a match a few months ago - it was my 1st cousin! At least it shows the system is working.

Having a tea break, so a quick look in here, almost gave up though as it just kept going around with nothing happening, this really isn’t a good working site.
Wednesday I made tray bake cakes, apple, carrot with cream cheese topping and lemon drizzle. Yesterday took them over for the three granddaughters, who were very appreciative. Keep some for OH, who does like a cake, trouble is then I also eat them. Must have more willpower.
Garden all sprouting green. Birds feeding well, if I can just keep the squirrel off! I put the last of the cooking apples from our tree out for the blackbirds. They had all gone this morning, despite high fencing the deer still get in and I suspect she ate them. We don’t mind the deer, if only they wouldn’t eat all the plants. I had to laugh last week when I went out to shoo one off and she stood looking at me, front legs apart, with a daffodil plant, complete with bulb at one end, hanging from her mouth, with a look of ‘what me’ on her face, it was comical.
Off now to do a pile of ironing. Can’t decide whether Status Quo or the Beach Boys will keep me company. Although I do tend to iron quicker to the beat of the Quo.

Phew.... 😉
Actually it's good to know it works.
Just been to order varifocals at the opticians, last time I had distance and reading glasses as separate pairs. Hasn't been a success on the occasions I have used them. Generally contacts or nothing. My cataract replacement is distance, didn't know they didn't replace like with like, but know for next time! I have one distance and one near eye. Been nearly 3 years and still find it hard to 'look' through glasses for close work like sewing 🤐🤬. Took the cheap option of having the varifocal lenses put in existing hardly worn frames. Hopefully I'll get some use from them. Don't actually need them for driving but sometimes my eyes get tired, but single vision distance made me feel wobbly!
Dropped off the redirecting of post form at the post office, that's tge bank account lighter again. This moving lark ain't cheap...
Thanks brue re the funeral, a great friend who we've not seen for almost 3 years, thanks Covid!, we wanted to go up but OH not up to it and it would be at least a week as in Scotland if we attempted it. Timing not great but it never is, my friend is coming to meet us, somewhere maybe halfway maybe our new house in the not to distant future, so we can comfort each other. She insisted we didn't attempt the trip. Will be sad whatever but at least we can be part of the day. 🥲

Thanks TDA. We'll go next time we're that way. In the meantime, our next trip out will be to the 'dark side'...... no, not a motorhome, but a visit to a C&CC site... 😀😀.... Devizes. It's a hand site for us to use whilst visiting out youngest daughter, who currently lives in Devizes....

Went to visit the cats today. They seemed glad to see us although the younger female cat is still quite cautious of us. The big fellow is fine. All was going well when suddenly we heard the voices of our son and daughter in law. Whoosh they were gone. It seems that the automatic dry food dispenser, in the hall, has a built in message to attract the cats, it certainly works. We were clearly demoted to nice to have around but food comes first!!!
