I've just watched the Ch 5 programme, David !! Awful from my gentle point of view so wont be watching tomorrow -- and no masks in view either
Think I will have to get accustomed to getting Snowdonia's best from my local garden centre. Its a touch pricier than at the N E C but without slogging down the M6
Hope you are recovering from your exertions

Evening
I too just watched that programme. I guess it was maybe aimed at a younger audience? The "trendy" presenters did it no favours in my opinion. Now, just watched corrie(recorded), Kevin Webster spinning the wheels of that Autosleeper camper away from his garage. That made up for a boring hour

Well it’s snowing here now was quite bad when I got up this morning although it seems to be easing now weather is been terrible the last few days very windy heavy rains and now snow. We were planning on a weekend away in the caravan this weekend first of the year but we have shelved that idea don’t want to risk it we were only going to go to Strathclyde Park CC so not far but it can be quite snowy on the motorway on the way up there so not going to bother. Fingers crossed for next weekend

I am just pleased that Channel 5 decided to make a couple of programmes about the show. These programmes are never aimed at the experienced but more the person showing a general interest in the hobby or new to it. It is easy to pick holes in the presentation but for the most part we do so through the jaundiced eyes of long experience rather than through the eye of an interested bystander?

Morning
I think you're right there DK. It's good to give people an insight into our hobby. I'll watch tonight's edition with a different eye.

I am not having a particularly good week. My best friend's husband had an appointment at Addenbrooks yesterday and was told his cancer has spread to his saliva gland and is booked to have a major op there in about 2 weeks. The news is not good. Also we heard at the weekend that another friend of ours has died. He had been ill with parkinsons for some years so I suppose it is a kind release for him but very sad for his family and friends. His funeral is not for another month. Also I got in my car on Tuesday morning, turned the key and nothing happened. Apparently the inside light had been left on and drained the battery. Son had the use of it last week whilst over here. I have had 'words' with him! The good news is that he sent us the school reports of the grandchildren over there and they are excellent. After a couple of reasonably pleasant days when I washed and dried the bedding we are back to rain and hail today. Oh well I had better go and iron all the said bedding. I hope everyone stays safe in this weather.
I hope all goes well with your dentist appointment DK. We also lost our previous dentist about 2 years ago. We had been going to him for years and trusted him completely but he decided to retire. Like others mentioned he was proactive but the new dentist, although very pleasant, seems to wait for us to report a problem. I put off my check up in January in view of the spread of covid and am now going to April

Rained here from early hours until about 0930
,Watched the programme from Brum last night definitely leaning towards the high end market and those looking at dipping their toes in the market. ,May show a bit more mid market LVs tonight no sign of any of this clubs "team?" Nice to see ccc Julia Bradbury keeping their end up
I think the trailer tent that was shown has the same model on site here at present ,did not take long to get set up ,while we were curtain twitching

I thought the same David, it's a first for TV to take this more general view of camping and vanning and I thought they did quite well with the mix. Lovely to see Julia Bradley making an appearance after her recent cancer operations. I was wary at first when the mammoth priced motorhome was introduced but thankfully that faded into the background quickly.
Millie so sorry to hear about your week not going well.
Not good news for any of us this morning so I will try to remain positive!
Francis it sounds very chilly in Scotland, sorry you've had to abandon your plans bbut it sounds sensible to me.
Hoping daughter will feel well enough to come here for a take away early evening, it will be nice if she can make it, if she doesn't I'll still enjoy a break from cooking, Very glad our local pub is still offering this choice.

Awful news for you Millie, about your friends. I think it makes things worse not having seen as much of those who mean a lot to us this last couple of years.
Its been all change at our dentist this last couple of years as well. We are in for a check up soon. Hope you get sorted quickly and painlessly DK.
I am at Mum’s today. Sis is busy making her a new skirt for her birthday, so hard to find nice skirts nowadays for older generation, and she’s not a fan of trousers. We are party planning again, just a nice tea for the four of us, at our house. Easier for Mum than a meal out nowadays. Got lots of nice things for her, and we shall have a day out somewhere on the day, leave the tea while the weekend.
We had a snow flurry earlier, but it hasn’t settled at all. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, so I have gardening plans. Need to get some seeds in trays and started now.
Not watching TV. It’s all too horrible.☹️

Afternoon
You're right about the doom and gloom TTDA, I'm going to be very selective what we watch now. I've just planted 6 trays of seeds, it's nice to get back to gardening instead of groundwork for a change. I've managed to make a greenhouse out of the site gas cage! Wrapped in thick polythene it's working ok (can't get gas anymore
). Managed to get some old builders planks free so this afternoon making some raised planters for some root crops.Really had enough of this weather so I've just booked a last minute hol. to some sunshine, off tomorrow night

Love it JK, recycling at its finest😁 That will make a cracking little greenhouse. Look out in Aldi for their gardening stuff, they usually do a plastic potting tray that could work well for you, cheap as well👍
Enjoy your break.

Yes tda the news on TV and radio is shocking so have switched both off for the time being.
The rain and hail have stopped and the sun has come out but there are some nasty black clouds lurking. I have been out in the garden to check the bird feeders and have a look around and gosh that wind is cold. OH has given my car a bit of a spruce up as son and family seem to have had a picnic in it
. I think I will have to have another word
About plastic potting trays our local garden centre has an area where you can drop off unwanted plastic seed/potting trays and those who want them can help themselves.
My Amaryllis is about to flower. It has grown to about 3 feet tall. Do they usually grow that big?
Enjoy your break JK. I am not at all envious

I watched the programme last night (mainly just to make sure I wasn't filmed 🤣). I know these things have to be 'engaging' as well as informative, but I felt there was too much 'out of show' footage... e.g. panning for gold etc!! No reviews of the 'standard caravan' that most of us have got - unless, of course, I dropped off to sleep at that moment!! Perhaps that wo be on tonight...??
I'll record it to watch when I get back from Singers practice.

At last, we are on the first day of our stay in Malvern. As we weren't able to check in until 2pm we decided to stop off and do a walk in Eastnor Deer Park. It's an area we've never visited before (I think RK will be familiar with it.)
We started in glorious sunshine and decided to head up to the Obelisk at the highest point on the estate. As we were heading uphill the skies darkened and we were engulfed in a very heavy snow shower. So the views weren't as spectacular as hoped for but we did get a distant view of Eastnor Castle and the Herefordshire Beacon at the southern end of the Malvern Hills Ridge.
The Obelisk itself is quite interesting with each face having a plaque describing the military exploits of various members of the family.
We stopped of for lunch at a noted pub called The Chase just outside of Colwall where we are staying, got their at just the right time as shortly a group of about 20 walkers arrived en masse!
Now checked in to the hotel which is very comfortable and the staff seem lovely - Ralph is a big hit with the girls at reception! Tomorrow we're heading up on to the Malvern Ridge, weather looks perfect.

I stayed on a site just 2 junctions up the M42, but still took the best part of an hour. Did it all again in the opposite direction this morning and just as bad. As Chris Rea said…”the road to hell”

Stayed in that area on Monday night at Hanley Swan (Blackmore CCC site) and hit some serious floods and aftermath of fallen trees. Couldn’t get through Upton-Upon-Severn and on departure spent a long time in traffic attempting to cross the Severn in Worcester, seemingly the only route open and floods were extensive. Maybe things have improved now?

Had my first cuddle with my new Grand daughter today, she is absolutely gorgeous, never cried all afternoon, very content,
New Mum & Dad are besotted.7 -
We had intended to come off the M5 at Tewkesbury and, although there were no notices on the motorway to say the town was flooded the pictures on last night's news suggested there was no way through. So took the easy but slightly longer option of the M50. I think things will be almost back to normal when we head back home on Sunday.

How special Helen. Such lovely news.

Been on Swiss Farm site at Henley, next door to Four Oaks for the past few days. Weather has been a bit mixed and the sluices at the weir that have been opened had an awful lot of water gushing through them. Off home in the morning assuming Mr Putin hasn't decided to 'liberate' the M3.

Hush now CY, don't give him ideas after your comments over the Olympic Ice Skating _ you wont be flavour of the month !!
Helen, I assume that the comment " Never Cried all afternoon " actually applies to both the Newly arrived and her Grandmother { Seen too many such First Meetings with multiple eyes needing to be surreptitiously wiped }

Milliehull I'm sorry for all those who've had horrible news this week.
I've not had an amaryllis get that tall. 2 foot, but stems needed support as the same plant had 2 stems one had 4 double heads the other 5 double heads so understandable on the need to shore them up.
I did type this reply earlier, but it never showed....
