Thanks Wherenext. We were planning a few days away but then Covid got worse so we held back. We may go out for a meal but we will see. A bit scuppered by Covid again. The plan is to do something with the family later in the year, our son and family live in Watford and some of the grandkids have important exams this year, so will need some planning.

We are still feeling fine and testing negative. Our 17 year old granddaughter says that she is very tired and breathing is difficult and a bit painful. She is confined to her bedroom and will miss important exams this week, which she is fretting about. Seems the exam board has no lee way for this.

It's tough on your granddaughter DEBSC and at that age they do tend to be more anxious. I know I was a bundle of nerves when I was taking exams. Thank goodness for old age!laughing

It's only 43 years for us so nothing special. Although I did mention that every day is a special day to Mrs.WN, which may have earned me some Brownie points if she hadn't have laughed so much.crysmile

Anyway I've a hospital consultation the day after so couldn't go away if we wanted to.

Debsc sorry to hear Covid has struck the family. Hope you can enjoy your Golden Wedding in some way or other, congratulations for your special day and I hope you can have a family get together later on. During 2020 Covid my sister and BIL completely forgot it was their 50th, when they remembered we all sent off lots of nice things for them as there was no chance of any meals out etc during the lockdown. So many friends have had similar experiences and on here too. It's a memorable time for all the wrong reasons! But I hope you have a good day. 🍹🍸🌻

Kj, I don't think access would be a problem given your experience. A couple of the pitches might be though, there are 2 at the back of the site both h/s gravel. The issue is that Mike has made one of them cut back into the bank behind it to level it off but this means its not really suitable for an awning. OK for MH though. The pitch next to it is just inside the entrance, some folk park across it while others do park front to back, but with a van your size it would need a lot of raising up at the front end as the ground slopes away. There are 2 pitches to the right with a hedge in between and then one grass pitch in the middle, it has the best view.

We are taking the caravan over Easter as it gives us the most flexibility if the weather is unkind.

Miserable freezing cold day here today, really getting fed up of this weather now would someone please put an order in for decent 😵

Made 2 little hats this morning for OHs nieces granddaughter.

Not really done a lot else, other than I did do a 30 minute workout on the Wii balance board 😲 need to get back to fitness and its far to cold and wet to be out in the garden.

Hope your granddaughter improves soon Debsc.

Thanks Brue. It was my cousins 50th wedding anniversary back in the summer and they were unable to do much to celebrate. However, out of character for him but her husband bought her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Not to be too much out of character his attached note read, ‘well miracles do happen! We did laugh, fortunately so did she.

DEBSC, sorry to read about your Grand daughter's Covid,  I met  a friend today who teaches in a large secondary school and they have very large numbers of children off with Covid or isolating. It is still disrupting the children's education.

After a beautiful day yesterday, when we got out for a lovely walk the weather back to normal grey and dull. frown.  Only work today, although did meet a friend at lunchtime, lovely to catch up.

Hmmm.....sounds like we should give it a miss, pity.

As I said a few pages back, OH found a really nice site near Nairn, called Barns Highland campsite, enquired re booking, but was told they did not know if and when they would be able to open this year, all a bit strange, and a pity as it looks really good.

Otherwise, most of the sites that are available are holiday parks, and pretty much all coming in at over £30 per night, which is just too much.

There are a few smaller sites, but most have not updated their websites and are not replying to enquiries re prices and deposits etc......so frustrating!

Looks like we will end up  using sites we have used before.

I almost turned the laptop on this morning around that time Richard as I was having difficulty sleeping in a perfectly quiet bed.laughing Decided to read for a little while seeing as Mrs WN had abandoned me for the night earlier on.

I remember catnapping a lot when I was in a couple of years ago and your body will just konk out on its own free will during the day sometime and block the noise out. Best wishes to you from me as well. No point doing the lottery as it looks like you got the lucky ticket this week.

R & R,   do NOT take any cat naps you scamp, or you will be awake every time the staff peep in to see if you are still behaving nicely  surprised

    But Very Best Wishes for a swift and total recovery { Allowing for the OH to do some serious caring for you, of course  wink !!  }

Glad you are ok after your surgery Richard and a speed recovery as well.

After a rather damp trip home yesterday and had a slight hitch as we had keys for the door but I had put the other keys for interior doors elsewhere and could not find them and needed to move stuff from the car so hence we had caravan keys so stuff taken into the van to sort through and you can guess they were in the last bag to look through grr and it was getting dark still all done and everything sorted now and glad to be home and both slept very well last night and today woke up to a sharp frost and sunshine all day hooray so some washing out and dried well, off shopping tomorrow and OH to Pharmacie as a change of medication before we went away not agreeing with so been on his old pills as no issues tried to ring for doctor's appt today but nobody answering the phone hence will try at Pharmacie at least they may help him.

Another frosty, icy start to the day. We did have some sun for a short time but I think it was a bit shy as it didn't last long. laughing

OH back to going to the Men's shed on a Tuesday morning so I got peace to do some housework, exciting times.

Nice walk out this afternoon but it started to drizzle so cut it short.

Shopping tomorrow so out in the morning, then on Thursday we are going through to Glasgow to collect OHs SIL, she's been in Guam for the last 3 weeks, she's going to love this weather surprised

MH was due to go in to have a job done on it but got a call yesterday to say he will have to put it off until next month, he has to go into to hospital for an Op. Not using it just now so no problem. Been thing about going away but this weather isn't inviting.

R&R hope you have a speedy recovery, not being able to sleep in hospital, is their way of making sure you don't overstay your welcome 😅😅

Very dull grey day yesterday but we found a very interesting castle at Pontefract, well worth a visit. For anyone interested in going there's a free car park just below the walls and I would suggest visiting from Wednesday to Sunday as the information centre is open then. One can also book a guided tour of the dungeons. There's a strange church within a church close by too.

Better day here, and we even had some sunshine this afternoon, but could have a frost tonight. Had a walk in Bishops Wood and saw a few Roe Deer crossing our track. Essential shopping done on the way back to the van. Snowdrops out already along the road edge by the site.

Good to hear you enjoyed Pontefract Castle Nellie, it’s a nice visit, along with the church down by the car park. Food in cafe is good as well.

Home day for us, after dog walking. It’s the pooch’s birthday on Saturday, he’s sent his invites out. Limited to his “bubble” of course. 😁

Hope R&R is doing well. smile

Very foggy here. Today a yew hedge I planted a few years ago gets it's first proper hair cut, it's grown surprisingly well. A new neighbour killed off the original conifer hedge on our boundary due to cutting into wood that couldn't regrow. Then he moved off and a second new neighbour planted a "fence." It was so ugly I decided to put in a long run of yew on our side.

Over Christmas another new neighbour on another side ripped out a lovely laurel hedge and another fence appeared. Luckily it wasn't on our boundary but we miss seeing the green hedge. I know "good fences make good neighbours" but in the countryside it's sad to see hedges being ripped out. One less place for wildlife to live. 🦊

What a difference a day makes. After 3/4 days of damp & fog we have glorious sunshine, however, everywhere is very soggy and very muddy in places, not great for dog walking so walking done mainly on the beach.

Walked within some MOD land yesterday, Brown Down, on the beach and still used to practice beach landing etc, its ok for walking as most of paths are gravel, just need to check for the red flag which means they are using the firing range, but doesnt happen very often, but you might see the odd landing craft disembarking troops.

Despite the forecast of fog its been a beautiful morning here in MK. Ideal day to take the motorhome out for its monthly run, did about 20 miles. Shouldn't need to take it out again until its service next month. Started OK so Battery Master doing its job!!!

Brue,  I know what you mean about fences, our young next door neighbour has surrounded there garden with them. Our garden borders theirs on 2 sides so I'm thankful that we have a lot of mature shrubs to hide them. smile

We have tall hedges on 2 sides that are full of bird nests, likewise for some of the big shrubs, would hate to lose the bird song especially the blackbird in the Mahonia under the bedroom window.

Dry day here not as cold as it has been, even had a bit of blue sky for awhile, sadly gone now back to grey skies frown

Shopping done this morning, first I had to go back to Specsavers. Last week I went in to get new nose pads on my specs, found them really uncomfortable so got my old specs out to have a good look at them only to discover they had fitted upsides down. Hot them turned round today but OH is having to 'close' up the clip that holds them in as the person in store didn't. I do despare at times, it's not as if specs are cheap.

Off for our daily walk now before the schools are out and it gets chilly again.

Where we live all the front gardens were hedges as part of the Garden City. ,as we all have to have Georgian style widows, but as new residents have moved in it seems they do not read the Garden City requirements and taken out hedges and replaced them with all types of fences, ,especially noticed over the last two years as covid according to the LA   has restricted their ability to carry out  visits?

In the past there was a spate of cheaper plain glass double glazed windows being installed by buy to let landlords ,who  were then made to replace them all with the Garden City Georgian style  despite the protests

We are hoping the LA in the future will do the same with the fences ,and have hedging replaced

I had just typed a reply and a lot more things I had put on here just about to hit the reply button and it all disappeared grr.

Another sharp frost this morning and sunshine all day.

OH got his medication changed at the pharmacie no problems so all sorted and shopping done as well.

So pleased you are back home R&R. I hope you enjoy a nice home cooked meal and a good night's sleep. Remember to do as you are told smile.

Beautiful sunny day here (with a hard frost this morning) despite the severe weather warning for fog. We couldn't go anywhere this morning though as we had the oven cleaner guy here. Our course that we were supposed to be attending at our local Adult Education College has been postponed (again) frown Another casualty of the current situation.

    Good news Richard.

A wonderful sunny day with little breeze so we took MiL to Conway for a good stroll alongside the estuary. She needed a break in her routine and thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours. I have to admit that on days like today the drive on the A55 into North Wales is a beautiful sight, particularly as the traffic was light. A bonus was the lack of people in Conway, enough for us to venture into a coffee shop and feel safe.

Only downside was seeing a motorcyclist being strapped to a gurney to be put into an ambulance after a collision with a car on the way back. His mates didn't look mortified so I am assuming he wasn't critical.
