We had an 'interesting' delivery via Hermes last year. While were out I received a message from them to say they had delivered my parcel and it had been 'handed to the resident' which I thought was strange. The proof of delivery photo showed the dashboard of a car! We got home and there was no sign of the parcel. I couldnt find anyone to contact. Finally about an hour later our parcel arrived. When I showed the message and photo to the driver she just shrugged. Luckily for the last 18 months we have had a very reliable delivery driver who usually delivers in our area aroumd mid morning.

Deciding where to go on our hols this year is not going well, decision could be made on where we have had the best cake 🍰 at this rate!!! 🤣🤣

Sounds like as good a basis as any!

Glad we weren't the only ones suffering an extremely wet day. OH managed his late afternoon dog walk with just a slight mizzle shower in his 45 minutes out. It hissed it down before he left and after his return - devil takes care of his own! I got soaked and muddy on mine this morning, but managed not to measure my length today.

Yesterday I decided on impluse to cross the river at the lock, well Dora looked at the bridge longingly - so I gave in and made it a circular walk either side of the river. I omitted to remember that the tow path can't expand on that side - unlike the meads on the side I started 😱. No one around to witness my elegant slide to horizontal. Dora thought it was great that I'd decided to lie on the floor and leapt all over me. Filthy back and front 🤣🤣. And I had to walk home past Aldi crossing a large dual carriageway so I expect I gave several folk a good laugh on my travels!

Our neighbourhood fb page has lots of Hermes related issues. Often a photo posted where the recipient says anyone recognise this front door? It's not ours but our parcel left here. There was even one with tge front door open parcel on the hall floor and a set of feet and legs. Much knashing of teeth etc. often packages not getting to the right destination. Generally asking if anyone has contact details.....

Seems to have been quieter since Christmas, but I think we have several drivers covering our area - some better than others. Only had one delivery from Hermes which was fine. Phew

Another day where it barely got above 0 degrees, but it did rain a bit so the snow was mainly gone before we went out at 15.30.

Met up with the fellow who sets the heating and does odd jobs at the Guide Hall to show him how to remove the TRVs on the radiators to free them up when they stick, and repair one of the ceiling lights.  The electronic ballast had failed so we had to take the whole fitting down  to replace it.

The ceiling is quite high and we have a very big step ladder,  but  he is not good with heights, or electrics, so I said I would do it once my arm was good enough.   Took us a good 2 hours to do the job, so OH was glad she did not have to call an electrician.  There are 24 of these strip lights on the ceiling, I think I have had to replace the ballast on at least 6 of them so far.

Drove home afterwards, my first time driving in 9 weeks,

Same here brue for our last morning. We shall be waving the neighbours off shortly😉 Short run home for us, so we can take our time getting off. Been a nice few days, back to super high cases rates and caring duties for me. Time to plan our next little escape🤔

We had a day out yesterday - well, half a day. Our Grandson volunteered to get up for morning milking (even though he was out the night before) so my husband could have a sleep in.

And then we had a trip down to Morecambe. I've two shows booked at The Platform https://uk.patronbase.com/_ThePlatform/Productions, and they don't post out tickets. Neither do they do "print at home tickets". So they have to be collected. I don't like to do that on the day (just before the performance)  as we like to be first in the queue ready to dash in to get good seats at the front.

It's less than an hour from us, and we made a bit of a day of it by having Afternoon Tea at The Midland hotel. https://englishlakes.co.uk/the-midland/

Then back home, just in time for afternoon milking.

Sitting here waiting for the hospital to ring to let me know if they have a bed for me.  Vascular surgery due tomorrow with the prospect of not being able to drive for 4 - 6 weeks thereafter.  Not looking forward to it - part of me is wishing they say they're full!!

Thanks Brue - but it looks as if it won't happen.  Just got through to hospital - 1 bed - 6 patients all needing urgent surgery.  Surgeon has to decide which one!  Sign of the times, I suppose.

Not sure you'd want to be the surgeon's 1st choice - but there again better over and done with.  Good luck whichever choice you are. Certainly not easy times for anyone.

We too have a large yellow ball in the sky,  rumours it had been stolen were exaggerated! What a difference it makes to how you feel and how everywhere looks. Including windows 😱. No need to worry it'll set soon and won't be seen again for a while.......

Dog walk was still mucky but wonderful to see a few early signs of spring including catkins. Dora and I chose to drive out to remove Christmas bits from my parents grave and enjoy a lovely change of scenery.

Hope everyone else has had a glimpse of a blue sky

You are dedicated Goldie😁 We have just had four nights at College Farm with the Oggs. Two calvings last night, one (unheard by the happy campers)  bellowing fit to bust as somehow she was stuck under barn gate! Somewhat sleepy and harassed son had been out to both and in a rush to pick up some pedigree sheep later today. All doing fine though. Enjoy your concerts👍

"Hope everyone else has had a glimpse of a blue sky"

loads of it, problem is there were loads of people out and about, Lee On Solent cafes doing a roaring trade, mods out on their scooters etc really pleasant to see, made a big  change from the last couple of weeks of grey skies and rain, solar panels have struggled to clock up 1kw per day, forecast for next week not great so i guess folk making hay whilst the sun shines.laughing

OH ,still having falls, but she will insist on going out to the bins at times ,  when I am up stairs, ,have got some extra hand grips,  but it is too cold outside to fit them as although nice in the sun there is still quite a cold wind in the shade where I am hoping to install them ,

I  was never bothered with the cold until after my stents fitted ,the meds I am now on thin the blood  and now feel the cold very quicklyundecided

Best wishes, hope things go well and you mend up quickly👍

We are home now, easy run back. First lot of washing done, MH back in its spot, and everything out that needs to come out. Going to need a big clean though, downside of going away this time of year. We might take carpets up and replace with flooring at some point. Everything is covered with dirt trapper mats anyway.

Best of luck whichever way it goes richardandros.

Glad to hear that you are back driving again Kj.

Pleased to hear that you are safely home TDA and also that you and Dora had a nice trip out bakers2.

It has been a lovely sunny day here as well - wall to wall sunshine so we made the most of it and went for a walk. OH has had a lot of trouble with his legs in the past year.  Very poor circulation there according to the GP and nurse that he saw.  The nurse prescribed support socks which didn't seem to be much help and walking has been quite painful for him . He decided to push the boat out and buy one of those Revitive things that are  advertised and after about a month it seems to be making a difference and he managed quite a long walk pain free. Also this week I managed to talk on the phone to our actual GP (hooray!) about my medication and mentioned OH and he said to take paracetamol which also might be making a difference. We shall see how things go.

Thank you all for your good wishes. We had a lazy kind of day and the take away meal was nice. We are grateful that we are still here and fit and well, so able to celebrate at some time to come.

Advance congrats to Debsc in 2 weeks time.

This morning we had a really heavy frost and a sprinkle of snow. It cleared mid morning so we took the MH out for a run. Went to Loch Leven which is about 20 miles from us. Drove all the way round in the sunshine, then parked up and went for a walk. Nice cuppa back at the van, then back home via my sisters, her OH is having his 4th Covid jab tomorrow.

It was great just to have a change of scenery and see the sun even if it was only a couple of hours. 🙂

I've booked a CL for over the Easter weekend, just need to book something else for a few days before that to give us a week away. First I've booked for this year.

NTH for info, Sunnybrae CL has increased their prices for 2022 now up to £15 a night, rise due to electricity costs. Think we will see more of this. Still a good price though.

Can only agree TG, the one we have booked at Banchory has gone from £15 to £18.  Still good value as serviced pitches, and facilities for those who want them.

Our problem now is where to go after Banchory.  We would want hard standing, so options are limited, and it will be coming up to Easter weekend.

Found a nice small site near Nairn, but they will not be open.

Will take a look at Sunnybrae

Thanks for the info TG, still a bargain at that, though. The same goes for the Banchory one too, Kjell.

We too had a sunny day to start but it clouded up as we drove north. Easy to find our next CL, one we have used just for a single night many years ago when taking our old Swift in to Cottingham for an extensive repair. Had a walk along a bit of the TPT along the side of the adjacent airfield. Short rain shower this evening.

Hope all goes well for you Richard whenever you have your operation.

Good to hear that your OH is managing to walk further Millie, hope the additional medication helps too.

Nellie and Ttda still talking?laughing Good to hear about your meet-up.

Going stir crazy but can't get away as the man who is doing some work on the van wants to do it this week. Might have to sneak a day out or two.

Nice walk today in lovely sunshine.

TG.......looking at the entrance to Sunnybrae.......difficult to get  scale.....but would the entrance be a bit tight for our  van?
There is an inconveniently placed telegraph pole to the left as you turn off the road, but the entrance is at an angle, so maybe OK?

Yes it was good to meet up again, and of course we're still talking, as  still lots to say, as you well know.😊📳

Kjell, coming in from the direction in the SD should be ok for you. Some of the pitches are a bit small, you might want to have a chat with the owner on booking there and see what he can sort out for you. Our van is 7.25 m and we've had no problems but have been fortunate with which pitches were free.

Thanks nellie, we would only consider it if we can reserve a hard standing, as there are only 4, however, access to pitches looks to be over the grass, so maybe not the place for us to go in April!

Trying to make a route that will take in places we have not stopped before, but as OH is from Aberdeen originally, we have been up there quite often as she has family to visit and I have some previous work colleagues up there too.

Thank you for all the early good wishes. Grey here all day. The plan was to drive to the beach take a walk and possibly pop in to the cafe for a coffee if not too busy, as the only place we have been lately is Tesco. Then we got a phone call from our granddaughter, she tested positive for Covid this morning. She stayed overnight with us on Thursday. We may be ok as on arriving she went straight up to bed, then left early next morning, however OH did drive her into college. So today we just walked across the fields instead, to avoid others. Both testing negative today but will test each day now, I even managed to order more tests at the 5th time of trying, I find it pays to persevere.

Have you been watching re-runs of Not the Nine O'clock News ABM?laughing

Up and out early, well for us it was as the school run was well and truly in full flow around the local streets. Off to the bike shop for a free tighten up service. Pity they don't do one for the rider!smile

Picked up a few vittels from the nearby Sainsbury's to fill in time and the shop was thankfully almost devoid of customers. Bikes back home in time for coffee. A rather grey overcast and cold day here but due to improve later in the week. Had confirmation that our work on the caravan will be going ahead on Thursday so going away in it postponed for the moment.

Welcome!
