It was deliberate😁 We have nicknames for certain businesses. “Royal Snail” (Royal Mail) “Wasda” (Walmart Asda) “Allfroads” (Halfords)😁😁😁

We like Beverly. It’s very much like our home town used to be before our Council and other circumstances destroyed it for locals. We gave ourselves the choice of Beverly or Hull, would love to go round The Deep, but might be too busy for us at the moment. We aren’t far from home, so might be a day out in MH another time.

Heavy rain overnight here, and it’s still precipitating. We are in no rush to do anything today.

It seems there is also a problem with Royal mail deliveries with many staff shortages through covid

An important letter sent last Tuesday  First class has yet to arrive ,a neighbour I saw its morning is missing a tracked delivery and some birthday cards for his OH,    ,has been told by postie that delivery rounds are done as and when, staff available some staff if willing are doing two rounds, but only with "urgent?" post

We've had a slight postal delay too.... although I haven't quite worked it out.....  it may be something to do with holidays and Christmas/ New Year.  Mind you we tend to have very little 'real post' these days.  The majority of it tends to be the sort of thing that goes straight in the recycling!!

We haven’t had any post this week!  I had something sent to me on 30th December, hasn’t arrived.  I did ask if the company can check it was definitely sent, it was but they resent another but that hasn’t arrived either!  I am awaiting a hospital letter so am getting a bit concerned now.  OH has asked at PO twice but they said they are only doing tracked and signed for or special delivery.

We had the postal problem before Christmas. No post for 5 days, then a large bundle of Christmas cards. Postman said there were many off work with Covid or isolating. Now it’s the recycle collectors, they did arrive this morning 10 days late, same reason it seems.

Have to admit we've had excellent service from Post Office both during the pandemic and beforehand.

Mrs WN ordered some artists materials on Wednesday. Groaned when she read they were coming from Hermes. Arrived last night at 5pm.laughing Must admit out of all of the regular delivery people they do rank bottom with us. So a nice surprise.

Got drenched this morning. No rain when we set out but had a waterproof coat on and we nearly made it back but got talking to someone about 100 yards from home and he does take his time getting to the end of whatever it is he's telling you, by which time we were all soaked. He lives alone and is elderly so one doesn't want to be rude and rush off.

Anyway it was only water and the trousers that got a soaking.

My experience is that they're a complete waste of space.  Ever tried to contact them if anything goes wrong? No chance - no telephone number - just an email address which they never respond to.  Latest saga was a delivery just before Christmas which they emailed me to say it had been successfully delivered - at 2 a.m. that morning!  Needless to say, it hadn't.  Still waiting for a reply to my query.

But then its difficult to contact many online organisations easily?

I must say I have had a much more positive experience with Hermes over the years. Used them a lot to send parcels. Many of the online retailers I use send good via Hermes. I usually get an email with a link to their tracking web page which shows me were the goods in and when they will be delivered. Got one coming today between 17.00 and 19.00 pm.

Is there an option to get the letters electronically? Margaret has signed up for them from MK Hospital. I think they send a text or email to alert you to sign on and download the letter as a PDF file for easy printing.

Congratulations Tammy. It’s our Golden Wedding two weeks today. We have a similar issue, really want to go out for a meal but concerned as it will be a Saturday. Fed up with celebrations with takeaways though. Might see how things are going in the next week. It was a bright day on our wedding day, don’t remember feeling cold, think I was too nervous to think about it. Heavy snow the next day though.

We always have the same Hermes delivery chap, he is very nice, an older man, he does all the Hermes deliveries around here. Always excellent service, maybe we have just been fortunate or possibly it is down to the driver.

Congrats from both of us as well Tammy and OH.

When we got married in March there was no one at the reception at night as heavy snow fell during the day and the place we were staying for the night was high up on the moors of Lancashire. Fortunately we were able to get out the following afternoon.

Memorable anyway. Obviously we had to make our own fun so brought out the Scrabble board.😂

A )  congratulations to all those celebrating "Golden Weddings "  ~~ Are you really, truly sure  or does it just seem that long undecided kiss

B )  I can't knock my local  Hermes delivery driver ~~ Jeanette is an elderly driver, using her own vehicle and can only deliver what goodies have worked their way through the system,  but is unfailingly polite to me at least  wink

Congratulations from us as well TG we had ours last September also on a Saturday seems awhile ago now and the same to DEBSC in two weeks.

Well the weather has gone downhill started off dry with some glimpses of sunshine so go busy and car nearly packed ready for trip home on Monday and then this afternoon very wet and windy, even the ducks do not like it.

Well our friends are on their way back here still on the ferry to Caen at present will get here sometime in the early hours, said they had a horrible wet trip from near Cardiff to Portsmouth.

    Stay safe folks.

Congratulations Tammygirl and OH. Enjoy your food order.

Advance Congratulations to DEBSC and OH

Belated Congratulations to Redkite and OH

We celebrated our 42nd Wedding Anniversary last Wednesday and had the most wonderful afternoon tea delivered to the house. It even included the teabags - I just had to boil the kettle. It actually did us for lunch and dinner. We did use the same lady last year and for OH's birthday in November, that was a big one, so knew what to expect. I gave a friend a voucher for Christmas.

In fairness, Hermes don’t usually take very long, and you get plenty of information  about where your parcel is. I suspect the delay was with the book sellers, a big one, with our parcel. Things certainly moved on after I chivvied them along.

Congrats on the GW TG. It’s 40 years this March since we got together, but we got married after a two year courtship. In a heatwave🥵 We didn’t bother with Scrabble WN, we took the dog along😁 Different dog of course.

And congrats to others as well🥳

Congratulations on your 50th Mr and Mrs TG and also to Mr and Mrs DEBSC next week. Sorry you are not doing what you planned but I hope you enjoy it anyway. It was our 55th last February and as it was in full lockdown we celebrated by a walk round a local nature reserve followed by a chinese takeway.

Congratulations to you both, TG, and belated ones to the B2s and all others that I've missed.

We have had no problems with Hermes deliveries, at least up to now with plenty of communications on delivery times, but have had a problem with the PO, although it could well be the seller that was playing silly beggers.

Wet for most of the morning but we did manage a dryish walk between showers. Rain finally stopped around 2:00 so a second dry walk followed before getting prepared for our next move tomorrow.

Congratulations to all celebrating anniversaries 🍾🥳

Had a fairly busy week, playing catch up at work as I did have an extra couple of days holiday.

Weather has been wet and miserable today, finally finished a very difficult jigsaw that has been on the go since before Christmas ☺

We too have had a few problems with post, our local postie said it was mainly due to staff splitting shifts so as they weren't all in the sorting office at the same time. Delivery of new brake discs for the car arrived a couple of days after order, OH even fitted them yesterday.

Deciding where to go on our hols this year is not going well, decision could be made on where we have had the best cake 🍰 at this rate!!! 🤣🤣
