OH get his 3 month prescription from a visit to his doctor and then down to the local pharmacie and given 1 month supply and all marked off the prescription ready for the next month, he did eventually get through to the receptionist yesterday to make his next doctor's appointment for 6th December he has also made appointment for 9th December for his 2 year heart check the next to do is his eye check all go before xmas.

Still only click and collect here but we usually do a normal shopping but not close to xmas, will be just the two of us again so get turkey but only a large piece of breast meat from our local butcher which is very good, just do not feel very much like xmas this year not sure why even OH feels the same.

Had a local military helicopter hovering over a local field this afternoon could not see it but could hear it so about 200 metres from us then it came over the trees and headed back to its base at Caylus camp and there have been night training here tonight with helicopters and jets hopefully soon will be finished as quite noisy.

Sorry to hear of your woes again Robsail. Best of luck.

I put a prescription in online and the Pharmacy pick it up on the third working day afterwards. They'll normally make them up if they haven't done so by the time we call but we always try to give them an extra day. GPs messed us around last time as they put a notice up on the surgery window saying an extra day needed but didn't stick anything online. They ask you to go online if possible so why only put a notice on the surgery? Anyway it was all sorted but generally the pharmacy are quite good and always busy.

That doesn't sound like a good attitude your chemist had DEBSC

    A busy day.

Took the MiL and selves off to a large furniture store near Chester as we all need new chairs, at the least, for living rooms. Mrs WN and self had already had a looksee last week when returning home for medical appointment so we had narrowed our choices down. Good news in so far as the chairs we chose had been reduced this week so that saved us a bit. Mind you they're a tad expensive but our backs need looking after.

MiL had a good look around and chose 3 seats. One for herself and a matching pair, but not with hers, for the others, eschewing a settee. So all happy, especially the salesperson!laughing

Got home just before 12 and MiL noticed a friends car parked outside with said friend sitting in it. Confusion and panic reigned! Lunch wasn't tomorrow but today! She didn't even have time to change.🤣 So we had a quiet few hours to ourselves.

Spent the time washing the car and trying to get Scottish Power to see sense. Renewed our Caravan insurance to boot. Plus we've had a go at the Japanese Anenomes. They've been cropped. Full 2 brown bins worth.

Had an email saying our new bikes are now due in any time soon. We were told there would be a delay until next year.

Have to sort some funds out for everything pretty smartish.

Do you they still sell Kiora Orange Brue?😂

Thank, Brian, it's good to have the proper information. Has there been any notifications of the convoy in your magazines? I believe that they took 3 days to travel from Threlkeld, over Dunmail Raise to Grasmere, and then down to Kendal  before turning along the A590. Can't find any mention of it in our local papers.

I order our prescriptions online and we have to leave at least 5 days before we collect them and even then they might not be ready!

Sorry to hear about your son, Robsail. Hope that he is soon back home.

Glad to read that you got chairs for you all, WN, and at a reduced price too!! Looks like an expensive time for you if the bike are coming so soon, along with the insurance renewal.

We got home by mid morning and OH managed to get 3 rounds of washing done, but it will have to dry off inside as it has been a damp, cloudy day, and is raining now. I was able to get the car cleaned after emptying the van and before taking Flyte for his afternoon walk.

Discovered, going through all the post that had accumulated during our ten weeks away, that I had a reminder from the DVLA 're my car tax, which was due at the beginning of October, and which I'd forgotten to renew. Thankfully following a phone call to Swansea I was able to get the car taxed from 1st November, and pay the difference for the month that I had missed. We had been driving round for about 6 weeks without roadtax....thankfully we were not involved in a road accident during that time, phew!!

Oops Nellie! We once realised some years ago that we had been travelling around the north of england for 3 weeks with no MOT! Luckily no roadside cameras picked us up.

There has been no other letter (yet) from the DVLA other than the couple of reminders, so hopefully they won't be chasing me with a fine for driving without tax. The person I dealt with didn't mention that there was any fine involved. Fingers crossed.

I am not sure what is going on with our local pharmacies. The one we used to use we stopped because it was always so chaotic so we moved to an independent nearby for that to be taken over by the people running the original pharmacy!!!  I went to pick up a couple of Margaret's prescriptions about a week ago. Big queue, one was ready but not the other. They did say they would do it and so I went off to do something else and went back. Over an hour to collect two prescriptions and the journey only takes 5 minutes. I think they may be short of staff?

As far as my prescription meds go  I  use Patient . Access on line

Log in & fill in 'ticks' for required items

Almost instant response e-mail telling me  that some one has used my password then ditto saying GP has received the request.

7-days anticipated delay but normally much less

Phone call from Well Farmer C central stating local site has my meds etc ready & waiting.

Slow stroll through the local area c/w carrier bag ( well they use thin paper thingummybobs )

Cracking day yesterday and today looks like it may be similar, lots of sunshine, no wind, and very mild for this time of year, caught these starlings just before their bedtime when i was out on my bike. Spending most of my time just now training new puppy, not too god at walking on the lead so doing lots of road walking, I am using the turning back method which means i seem to have to walk twice the mileage undecided, but his recall is brilliant , so lots of runs along the beach and through the park.

My meds are automatically prescribed and dispensed monthly. So it's a quick 10 minute trip to the edge of town to collect. I have a annual review, but nothing much ever changes.

I've been with the same practice forever, and only had three different doctors in my life. The last one has retired sometime during Lockdown (at least he's not listed on  the website now).  Now of course you get to see whoever has a free slot.

I think you will be fine Nellie. Suspect many of population will have made a genuine mistake these last couple of years. We SORNed our MH first lock down, decided to have a day out locally as things eased a bit, had completely forgotten about road tax. One of those OMG 4am in the night recalls😱

The two things you can guarantee at the moment in UK are, cost of living is rocketing, and all the rules and regs are a bit of a joke, because there is no one checking things👍😁

    Had a lovely morning's walk.

Had an appointment through for a follow up to my recent consultation and the consultant was right, they do look making me appear on a more regular basis. Next one March. Following my recent visit they insisted that I had blood tests done for 11 different things and the earliest one I could make is in the middle of December. That's from a pool of 12 different centres/hospitals. However there is a training one in Wrexham and I've got one there for next Monday. Obviously everyone is steering clear!surprised But they've got to be better than doctors doing it.

Warning to one and all that scammers may well be to the fore following news that Amazon are stopping customers from using Visa Credit card payments and are asking customers to change their details online. This takes effect from 19th.January next year but you can bet there will be emails from these scammers/scumbags saying there was a problem etc.etc. so please take care if this change applies to you.

Nurse for me this morning for bloods, just routine ones, results back Friday afternoon.

Prescriptions we normally order online then collect about 3 days later from our local Chemist. Both GP and Chemist in the village very handy.

Tow car in the garage today as the front brakes have a judder, garage called we need new discs and pads surprised car was only MOTd in august and hasn't been used much since with us being away. OH checked his MOT certificate and we had an observation on it surprised oh yes he says I do remember that now yell  Its going to cost him £280 which is £70 cheaper than the Toyota garage quoted. smile

Pretty darn chilly last night and its going to get colder still over the weekend, might be time to keep the heating on all day. Its on the timer at the moment as its been quite mild, comes on for 2 hours morning, lunch and then 4 - 9.30 in the evening. Don't have the heating on overnight in the house.

Right must go and do some shopping before collecting the car. No shopping required for Christmas as we are invited out for dinner, Doesn't seem to be any shortages up here of things other than some of the sweets I was trying to buy for the Gkids at the weekend. Won't do them any harm to have less, they eat to many anyway. laughing

Yes to be honest it was just the chemist I was moaning about. The whole village moans but nothing gets done. It was great until it got taken over, then the pharmacist left, then manager left and the new one doesn’t know the meaning of customer care, she can be so rude to customers. Last year I did complain to Head Office but despite asking I never got any feed back. Villagers won’t change chemists or they will have to drive or use the bus to the next nearest one. Sometimes its actually embarrassing to stand in the queue there and listen to the oldies moan about it (no not me) So sad though when some of the old folk walk all the way there just to be told, not ready, return another day. That often happens.

Thanks for the heads up about Amazon WN, I looked it up....BBC LINK I'm really surprised Amazon are doing this when they are such a wealthy company. I don't think this will go down well with credit card holders!

Hope the tests go well, if they're training you might get a better service?! I often think some of the newer recruits have remembered more and listened to new ideas more than some of the older ones....wink

Bit of a pain in the wallet TG. We had a new sensor fitted to our EV not long ago and now the sensor light has come on again, first time round the fix was nearly £500 so OH is gearing up for a "discussion"...surprised

Busy day, help in the garden, large dead palm tree has been dismantled, more leaves picked up etc. I went to the hairdresser, then made two Christmas cakes, hope they're ok. Tomorrow the opticians for both of us, we're late, we should both be seen once a year but have gone well over the time and I'm hoping OH is ok re-glaucoma checks.

After that we're out to another theatre but we've had an email to say that Covid has struck the lead actor (at his day time job) so the producer will stand in with the script and as it's a farce they feel it might be even funnier? (ha ha....)

Meanwhile we are slowly catching the mouse residents in the roof, they may have come in for the winter but they are definitely not going to stay...one of those years, do they know something, is it going to get a lot colder?! 🐭

Do hope your son is getting better Robsail.

The VISA announcement by Amazon got me thinking as one of the credit cards I have had always been run through the VISA network but a while ago they changed over to Master Card, probably a similar reason. I don't know if Amazon are doing this just in the UK or worldwide?

I have been renewing my Passport this afternoon. Not sure how much use it will get but you never know!!! They now allow you to submit a digital photograph I noticed, which is a good step forward. On the website they show you what is and what is not acceptable. I got Margaret to taken several pictures on my phone. I took the best one and cropped it down a bit, not strictly necessary as they will do that anyway. When you load it you get a little likeometer from poor to good. Mine was only fair so I tried a couple more which were worse. You are asked why you think the photo is suitable which I thought a bit strange so I put in some guff about if meeting all the requirements as highlighted in their help section so hopefully they will accept it. The one I sent is far better than the one already on my passport!

When I renewed mine just over a year ago, I used a photo booth in the supermarket. This besides giving me four actual photos for other things, gave me a code to input in the passport application. When input it pulled the photo in, checked it and said approved. I’m not sure if you could take your own at that time, I didn’t notice the option, but as I had already had them taken I wouldn’t have been looking for it.

Fortunately my card with Amazon is already MasterCard, so no changes necessary. I wonder what it is with Visa. We had an email from NatWest, they will be replacing our Visa Debit bank card with a MasterCard one.

I haven't been up to much since last Friday teatime when I tripped, fell, and shattered my hip! I had just given Cath her g&t when my fet got entangled (sober). I had a new ball and socket by  Sunday lunchtime.

After a week in QMC, I'm now home and we're both finding a bit difficult to cope, but managing. Our van was in the garage awaiting a new Handbrake cable meanwhile! Thanks to Simon and Chris for sorting it out, and to Mark and Bridget who took the van back to storage for Catherine. It's  going to be a good few weeks before we're out motorhoming again

Apparently the Visa/MasterCard changes are due to a commercial ruckus over the level of charges being paid by Amazon and presumably, RBS, to Visa.

I doubt that it will affect pricing at our level but likely will affect the level of profit made by the big companies concerned
