Wish me luck for tomorrow 12th please  ~~  Got to deliver a Birthday card to an old ( Well 78 !! ) buddy that I forgot to hand deliver in midweek,  then from there to pay an 'in person' call to aged sister  on her 91st !! A larger than usual assembly taking her out for a Lunch-time nosh cum booze-up  but alas these days I do not do large gatherings so I've got to be in and out early   or the gathering storm oo sorry I mean gathering clan will try to rope Brian in and thats so upsetting 'cos I immediately start thinking of Absent Friends  and turn into a right old wet blanket.cry

Been looking after daughter and grandkids as daughter still suffering with her back problem. Youngest granddaughter had a very bad cough and the shivers, couldn’t seem to shake it off - tested negative. The obvious has now happened and we have both come down with a bad dose of whatever it is - both just tested negative. No coughs or colds etc for us right through lockdowns etc. It now feels strange and surprising to get what we previously used to get almost every winter.

That’s good news WN. Regards to you all. Our December plans have changed a bit, we won’t be heading to Wales now, but closer to Nellie’s neck of the woods up on Hadrian’s Wall, Cumbria area.

    Afternoon swim for me.

OH and I are still a bit "off" due to booster jabs. However we made it to our local pub last night to meet up with family....only to find they were at another pub waiting for us. As we had all been waiting for each other it was too late to sort out so OH and I had a meal at pub number one and they all had a meal at pub number two. I blame it all on the Moderna vaccine, it has reduced us to dopey parents who don't listen properly and leave their phones at home when they shouldn't. wink

Glad to hear things are going better for some people and I hope Debsc and family feel better soon. smile

Well I've got away with it, or so it seems  smile. did the 'visiting' jobbies a.o.k this very morning then got a bit of shopping in Tesco Crewe, 'cos it was on my way home.

This evening I had two (2) phone calls First to remind me that on Sunday afternoon I am on Racing Pigeon Feeding Duty and will get up-dated instructions on Saturday [tomorrow] morning   Then Second was from Great Niece asking me to toddle round to her parents tomorrow afternoon where she will be in temporary residence along with her youngster who has been banned from G~g~grandparents since he caused the  new moggy to go into "Lets all have fun " mode and that takes it a good hour to calm down after looking thro the entire house seeking his playmates  surprised

Thanks Brue. Some of us ‘older’ ones never seem to have our Mobile phones when we should. Constantly have to remind OH to take his when going out. Then last week, when mine was needed I found I didn’t have it, will never hear the last of that. We really can’t seem to shake whatever this is off and both still laying in late, and creeping around the house, can’t go out while coughing like this, people will think we have IT and we will be treated like lepers. Think our immune system has had too long of a break, nothing to annoy it during lockdown. Nothing serious in the scheme of things though.

Looking on the ‘up side’ of things: For the last 3 days we have only eaten home made or tinned soup for our meal. Last night I still didn’t feel like cooking so suggested that OH made Ham, egg and oven chips, under my ‘instruction’. All went quite well. So he can now add that to his already extensive repertoire of culinary delights - Pizza, and Breaded fish, peas and oven chips. Well every cloud.

There was a very nasty cold bug doing the rounds up here a couple of months ago D, like you we seldom get colds, but this was a stinker. Affected us very differently, OH had one symptom after another for a couple of weeks, I was totally laid low exhausted for three days then back to normal, my sister was shocking, really bad sinus and congestion, sore throat for a couple of weeks. We all tested negative. On the up side, Mum bless her, got nothing thankfully. Hope you all pick up soon, and good to hear OHs culinary repertoire has doubled😂

Hope you all ok after your visiting as well ABM.

In normal times, we would have been off to a big family get together tonight, BILs retirement do. But, it will be a big do, too much in the way of mixing with others for us to risk, so my new dress will have to wait for another Ball😢

MH all cleaned out this afternoon. We are having a day out Tuesday, hopefully Castleton. Then back home via vets in Sheffield at teatime.

Off to the city of dreaming spires for three nights after the Remembrance service tomorrow. Staying with "the other lot" and hoping to get birthday and Christmas shopping done for the grandsons.

Took the "neighbours" to Dunham Massey N.T. today. We all seemed to enjoy it and the place is big enough to swallow a lot off people also enjoying their Saturday. The weather was kind too.

Off home tomorrow. Hope to get out again before the end of the year with the caravan.

Enjoy your trip to Hadrians Wall Ttda.

Sorry to read about your after effects Brue. You do seem to have suffered from these vaccines. Hope you are back to normal soon.

    And best wishes to DEBSC.

11 year old grandson has just spent the evening with us while his Mum and Dad enjoyed a meal out in Stamford (his older brother was out with friends). We told him we would be watching Strictly - sigh and raised eyebrows - turned out he really enjoyed it. There's a surprise!

Glad both WN and NTH have had a good few days.

Brue I hope you and OH feel better soon. Had to laugh about the mix up over lunch and missing phones. It sounds rather familiar 😁

My best wishes also to DEBSC. It sounds as though viruses are having a 'field day' this year as we have nothing to fight them with after last year.

Busy day in the garden as the weather was mild enough. Only intended doing a couple of hours tidying the front garden.

Ended up doing our elderly (95) neighbours front garden as well, just raking up the leaves but she had a lot surprised

Then it was into the back garden to cut back the buddleia and rake up the leaves from the Silver Birch (again)

Sorted out loads of plastic plant pots that I no longer need, filled the wheel barrow with them so they can go onto the village FB page, I'm sure they will be snapped up.

Off through to the Gkids school tomorrow for the Remembrance parade and service, grandson is now a drummer in the school band (Pipes and Drums)  this will be the first time we've seen him in the band live, saw a video of him awhile back. Their Mum and Dad are in London for the weekend, today they went to the Albert Hall for the Festival of Remembrance and tomorrow our son is marching to the Cenotaph. One proud parent and grand parent.

We will be taking the kids out for lunch after the parade and having a little birthday celebration for our eldest grandchild. Its her birthday on Thursday she will be 15, it doesn't seem like 5 minutes since I was holding my first grandchild in my arms, she still gives the best hugs.

Oh well time to go to bed, LFT done and negative, have to do one before going to the parade tomorrow.

Oh, pleeez, nobody mention after-effects or similar, to Brian The Pooped !!

Got round to Niece's house this afternoon and didn't have time to ring the doorbell before the very youngest member of the family, not quite 2 year old, who has not seen yours truly for 12 months, opened the door ~ grabbed my hand ~~ dragged me thro the house and into the garden to see the solar lights he had dug up surprised.  Then he introduced me to his grandpa & Ma about four times but he only fell over twice thank 'evans cos he weighs a blooming ton smile at least he kept everybody working off the food they all had at Great-granma's Birthday nosh in Nantwich  sealed

     { I Truly believe he will become a Slimming Club owner 'cos his Grandpa has lost about four stone since he met the little 'un  laughing }

Do hope it stays dry and not too cold for those on parade tomorrow, take care & keep safe

Sounds like a good family visit Brian.

TG hope you enjoy seeing the grandchildren.

Our musician is on call again at his usual place in a Dorset church for the remembrance service.

Last night we took ourselves to see the BBC Big Band, playing locally. We had the full blast of James Bond music and some extras thrown in, two good singers as well. Wonderful music if you see them around. Covid jab heads cleared out.

Like TG we did a lot of leaf clearing yesterday, usually two drops and we're done. The leaf mould is good.

Wondering if we can cope with more James Bond next week, has anyone seen the new film? Have been told the cinema isn't busy.

Glad you are feeling better brue.  We haven' seen the new James Bond film. Our son has.  He wasn't terribly impressed.

It sounds as though you had a lovely family visit ABM. You were certainly kept busy!

Last night we went to see some friends (and have a few drinks and nibbles - and watch some photos etc). It was the first time we had been in anyone else’s house since March 2020 (except our son’s next door). We hadn’t realised it had been so long. It was a chance to say “what shall I wear?” And make a bit of an effort.

    MillieH & Brue,

     Twas a great little visit to one side of the family, but G~Nieces hubby is still in bed in Cambourne, Cambs  with a cold -- caused I think by the draught surrounding his lovely little son  wink Young 'un is not talking a lot but by 'eck, he does motor round the house { Toys every where, especially the ones that make noises  surprised }

Now I've got to get a little lunch before I feed about three dozen homing pidgins then I'll ring aged sister to see if she's recovered yet from the mini cyclone  laughing

Do hope the mornings trips out have been ok for every body !!

Brue, we haven't been but we had lunch very recently with some friends who did go. The lady thought she'd never sit through three hours without a break but said she and the rest of the family group were so engrossed with it that she was amazed to find the three hours was up at the end. She and hubby gave it a big thumbs up and she isn't a big cinema fan. Mrs WN even suggested that we might go if the time was right but I'm not sure sitting in a packed cinema is for us.

Back home from our week away and the last few days spent in the company of Nellie and his wife, not forgetting Flyte the dog. Thoroughly enjoyed it all.

I hope Francis is sitting down when he reads this. I even washed the caravan this afternoon!!!!surprised I blame that Nellie fella, a bad influence. Don't worry too much Francis as I didn't get around to the car.laughing

Sounds like you had a good weekend too ABM.

We are off to ‘Experience Freedom’ next weekend for a few days, taking advantage of the offer.  Anyone tried one?  I thought we’d give one a try as a Christmas present to ourselves.  We don’t use the caravan over winter, no reason I suppose it’s just the thought of being away in bad weather doesn’t appeal.  It will be strange being away without the caravan but I’m a bit worried about hotel stays so a Glamping Cabin seems safer.  Just trying to work out what to cook in them understand there isn’t an oven so we may have to ‘brave’ an indoor restaurant!! 😱

Our friends had to give up touring for health reasons, but are thoroughly enjoying using Glamping Cabins. They dropped on a stay at Cayton Bay that is going to cost them £34 per night, so a real bargain. They do have a microwave and a BBQ I understand? Why not take something home cooked and warm it up in microwave? I have done this for our MH in past. Which Site are you using, I keep looking for Mum, Sis and Me. Mum is only tiny, well below weight allowed in a bunk, but not sure if they would let us all share. Keep meaning to call and ask.

Now on our last CL, for a couple of nights, of our 10 week trip. It's been a grand tour all told, the weather has been kind for nearly all of the time, and the last four days with the WNs was the icing on the cake. Can't remember the last time that we've both laughed so much as we did last night. Soon it will be back to the usual jobs....cleaning the van and car, and getting sorted with our necessary appointments before we can head off again prior to the Xmas holiday period.

Welcome!
