6 to 8 weeks before any driving. Physio is self help. Cath back on g&t, I'm on diet coke until finish blood thinners. Luckily we got a late trip out before getting grounded.

Ouch! I have had one hip replaced but that was planned. I imagine its more difficult with a broken hip? On the bright side it will all be mended if you decide to go to France next year. Hope you make good progress, the Physios are your friends!!!

Well, I am back, did anyone miss me?
Not a good weekend, I think our caravan is trying to tell me something!
Went out there to show DD how to winterise the van, and remove what needed to be removed, and managed to fall again. This time only inside the van, and landed on my back, so no more broken bones, but still quite painful, and had to be checked out again.
Monday I was back at the hospital for x-rays and new cast, plus chat with consultant, so a 2 hour session. Going again next Monday to see how things are going, if not good then it will be an OP with plates and screws fitted. Hopefully will not be necessary. Arm is still sore, but not as sore, but the bruising from the elbow and up is quite spectacular.
Tuesday I had a phone consultation with my specialist re my hyperparathyroid condition, which DD sat in on and made sure he was made aware of all my foibles! So now I am going for a blood test on Saturday, and will have another consultation in 4 months time.
Meantime, depending on the results, I may have a referral to a surgeon, but neck surgery is on hold meantime, so I do not expect anything to happen soon.
Garage clearing is continuing.....very slowly......DD comes up here as often as she can. Tomorrow she has a "keep in touch" day at work, so we have been engaged to look after the 2 little ones all day, we are to be at her place at 8am!! That will be a shock to the system!

Sorry to hear about your fall, CnC, and your's too Kjell. All the very best with both of your recoveries.

My NatWest was swapped to a Mastercard a while back now. A bit irritating as I liked to have "one of each".

chasncath OH had a planned hip replacement 15 years ago. He had the op in the March and we were able to go away to France with our motorhome in the August. Best wishes for a good recovery.

Ouch, some folks have been in the wars☹️ wishing you both a swift recovery. I hope robsail’s son is doing ok as well.
Glad you got home safe Nellie👍 We passed Longshaw yesterday, heaving with visitors. Not far off two years since we had a meal in Fox House, that has absolutely flown by.

So sorry to hear of those of you who are not in the chirpiest of mind at present ~~ you'll have to get the A4 pads out & start sorting the Christmas lists out & write the cards as well as getting the stamps sorted !!
There is one obvious advantage of being like A B M -- should I fall I will normally bounce

Sorry to hear of the falls Chas and Kj, hope you both make a good recovery. Now will you please take it easy.
Re Amazon, it only affects the Visa Credit card, if its a debit card then its ok. Again only the UK is affected because of the charges, that Amazon say are to high.
We have 2 CC's one is Visa the other Mastercard so no need to change anything just yet.
Collected car from garage this afternoon, work all done and seems fine, CC took a hit but then it was Tesco's so more lovely points towards a voucher for the tunnel/ferry next year
we pay everything on the CC these days. With little to no interest on bank accounts, we take the benefits where we can get them. One CC gives us cash back the other Tesco points
Tomorrow I will be looking out Christmas cards, way to early but I need to get them done before we go away. Not sure what the weather will be like in Lanzarote but it has to be warmer than it is here.

Thanks for the reminder about the passport David. Must check ours! Like you, we're not sure when we will use it next. Maybe we will decide after Christmas if 2022 will be 'the year'?
Sorry to read the problems some folk are having. Get well soon.
David
Reminder for me: Morrisons have a good deal on for Baileys 1 litre bottles - must remember to pop in... 🤣

We have not had credit cards for years and do not have them with our french bank either, a friend of ours will not do anything online after a few issues with Amazon but again no credit card and now she will only order anything as long as she can pay by sending a cheque, I cannot remember the last time I did that here or in the UK.
We had the last day of training yesterday here with 2 Tiger helicopters going over our field and house only about 2 meters above the electric cables wow and very loud and fast they did it about four times then moved elsewhere now had to put pictures straight when they went over, then we went into Cahors to the large Emmaus to take a load of stuff OH has been clearing out some old IT stuff (hooray) and I got rid of some clothes and a few kitchen bits once we had loaded everything we had a quick look around the store far too busy for us and folk to close even though there were notices up so gave up and came back home as we did not need anything else and as the weather was dull glad to get back home as it was very cold being next to the river LOT.
Take care folks.

tks ABM nice thoughts, no problems in Stubbers, this is a sculpture by a local artist done in the local park at the bottom of our road, taken yesterday in glorious sunshine, unfortunately we do not have some of the more vivid colours, tree's are mainly Horse chestnuts and quite a few are diseased, however, the sweet chestnuts seem to be fairing much better.
A bit dull today but still walking/cycling in shorts. Daughter in Spain just bought her forever home, outside garden and roof terrace so much better for dogs, especially when we visit, we have managed to rent the appartment to a friend on a 12 month lease starting Jan 2022 so all good, looking to visit next week for 4-5 days to do a bit of DIY in new place, temperatures not great but looks like plenty of sunshine.

I think you could be too late as my sister in law has probably purchased the entire stock of Morrisons Baileys if her Facebook page is to be believed

I don't know about France but there are very good reasons for using credit cards for buying online or remotely as the level of protection is better. I only ever use my bank card to withdraw cash from an ATM and that is only every couple of months! Cheques for me are really a thing of last resort and in recent years they have only been used to pay for big things like work on the house. Even that has reduced as companies are more amenable to accepting payments by BACS which is much easier, especially if I can't remember where I have put my cheque book!!! Many shops in the UK won't even accept cheques now as a form of payment.

David,.....We have also renewed our passports, mine arrived 2 days ago and OH's is arriving today. We also sent our photos digitally, despite getting the OK my wife's photo was rejected last Saturday, alternative emailed the same day and still the passport will arrive today. How is that for good service! Only 3 weeks instead of the published 6 weeks current turnaround is impressive.
I wish my photo had been rejected as it is horrendous, and to make matters worse it is now diplayed three times!!
Don't forget to send off your old passport quickly as the renewal process will not start until they have received your old passport. In additon make sure you send off the old passport to the correct address, as for whatever reason, our passports were returned to and issued by different centres.

Oh dear Chasncath, sounds painful, these things can happen so ridiculously easily. My late Mum broke her femur turning around in her bedroom! I’m ‘on the list’ for a hip replacement, not in hurry for it but just now going for a walk is a thing of the past so I know I need it done. Perhaps, like you, I need to be given no choice!?? Take care and speedy recovery to you and all others suffering issues and accidents.

David the last cheque in the UK was when I had treatment with a Chiropractor was in Malvern 4 years ago and she did not have a card machine then.
Yesterday OH got a few things in Lidl's whilst I was at a garden centre and a lot of folk about and although notices about around the till as he was at a card only till the 1 person in was paying by cash no card with them so as stuff had been rung up they had to get someone out of the office and do transaction that way as this checkout does not have a cash till and then the lady in front of him got out her chequebook again staff card only so she had to put chequebook away and get a card out heyho all fun and games and the locals do not like waiting and as most places over here still accept cheques as they are printed at the checkout.
OH has to do his passport in January not due yet but as we are coming over to UK end of April needs to get it done and will be done online.

I am interested to see whether my photo is rejected as it only rated fair on there website. How did the website react to your photos? Clearly it didn't reject your wife's photo on the online application? I have my passport all packed up to go, just got to walk over to the Post Office to buy a suitable stamp. I am not suggesting my wife is vain but she felt her hair wasn't right enough yesterday for me to take a photograph

I'm doing the same, got OH to do the digital photo this morning. It was classed as "poor" because it was black and white, it wasn't, so puzzled by this I objected and said it was in colour! This seemed to be ok and I'm about to send my old passport off. Hope the photo doesn't get rejected further down the line. OH is no David Bailey but my photo didn't seem too bad. I'm probably like Margaret DK, I had my hair cut yesterday and thought I looked better than usual....

We tried this afternoon to do some photos of Margaret but all of them, with or without glasses, came up as poor. There was some shadow so perhaps that is the reason. Will try again tomorrow if we have better light.

Both photos were classed as "good" on the website application. However OH received an email saying "The photo you submitted with your passport application can't be used. It doesn't meet the photo standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation"
Haven't standards dropped when they use the words, can't and doesn't

Sign of the times i suppose when you receive a text from the doctors surgery with a link to a site where you have to enter your blood pressure, guess the request is because i have not been near the surgery for probably 3 years not even for a medication review, fortunately I have a machine at home, but the text did say one was available in reception for use
do hate these dark evenings not yet 1600 hrs and had to put my bike lights on,

We have survived our first day looking after the 2 little ones. We were down there before 8am and had breakfast with DD and Nathan. Daddy had taken Callum to nursery. DD started work at 9am and had a couple of meetings and caught up on her work e mails and company policy changes.
She picked up Callum at lunch time and later had 2 more meetings going on till 4pm, followed by a "parents evening" at nursery, so it was after 5.30pm before we could set off home. OH had Nathan out twice in his push chair for sleeps, I spent all morning sleeping as I felt exhausted for some reason, then had Callum to entertain in the afternoon.
The good news is that her company are allowing all staff to work from home permanently if they wish, even to work from overseas, so once she goes back in February she will be allowed to decide how often her team will meet up in the office (probably twice a month). She is looking forward to her new, promoted role, more input into what they tackle, and new projects, so all sounds good.
She has another day of the same next week, so we will be called in to assist again.
My arm is fine when resting, but quite painful otherwise, I expect it will take a while to settle down
