I appreciate your concern WN, but I can assure you that I take it pretty easy and things just take as long to do as necessary! This much to the frustration of OH who, even after 52 years, still thinks things should happen more quickly.
I am not so sure about this "not getting any younger" business, I am still 18, maybe 22, in my head, and intend to stay that age for a while yet. My mother lived to 98, and was in very good shape till at least 95, , so I fully intend to take after her, and reckon I have at least another 15 active years ahead of me.......if I can stop falling over things! 😢
Very tedious having to sit about not doing much, I want to be down in my "workshop" making things. Will be good to have the garage (workshop) all tidy and have space to keep all my big tools.

If a tree is cut down for any reason on council land here they always replace it with another of the same type although it is now done by contractors a little prod to the council tree person is needed at times to get the replacement

Dentist and hygienist this morning for me. No issues so back again in 6 mths
Bit of food shopping then back home.
Its been a dry day but cold so have kept myself busy indoors.
Sorry to hear of your plight Kj hope you feel some relief soon.
Hope Mrs JVB66 is feeling a little less sore after her fall.
Yesterday we had a 2.5 hour zoom call with friends who live on the west coast. They have now decided that they WILL come on holiday with us next year. They haven't been abroad before in their MH but would like to try it. Very nervous of doing so on their own so they are going to tag along with us until they gain some confidence. Driving on the other side doesn't bother them, as they have done that before, just never done the campsite holiday type thing.
We were all a bit concerned about doing it as we don't want to spoil the friendship, however we've talked it all out and made promises that if something is bugging us we must say so, rather than bury it then have a blow out later.
Ferry now booked for beginning of May - mid June. That's our BF voucher used up. Lots of planning to do now, where to go, where to stay etc. Our friend now has a long list of things he needs to buy
looking forward to it, it will be nice to have company for some of the time.
Neither of us has had any issues after the booster thankfully. I see that Valda has posted about France requiring proof of booster as of mid December. NHS will need to a wiggly on if they don't want the wrath of the skiing community or the snow birds. I've checked my NHS account it shows that I had 3 appointments and the dates but it only states that I've had 2 jags.
I've been sorting out knitted teddies that I've been doing for quite awhile now, put them on our local FB page to find new homes for them
all gone within minutes. Also sold 4 hats as well.
Will need to get Christmas cards done early this year with us going to Lanzarote at the end of the month. It feels strange sorting stuff out so early, I normally don't bother until December.

After a good start yesterday getting our Moderna boosters we both became ill in the night with temperatures and chills, feeling sick etc. Slumped in the sitting room today, hoping we feel better tomorrow! I think this was the worst reaction yet. Hope we don't have to go through this every six months.

Thanks to all for the good wishes, the arm is a little less sore today.
DD came up here with Nathan this morning, so while OH entertained Nathan, we were in the garage doing a bit more organising. DD has been up the ladder fixing hooks in place and hanging more stuff up, so we are definitely getting more organised. While up there she was eyeing up all the stuff on the "mezzanine level", so she says we need to get to grips with that too!
The skip is still here, and now pretty full, no idea when it will be removed, I think the skip company are using our driveway as a storage area now.
DD is likely coming back tomorrow to continue the good work.

I rang 119, yesterday, because my NHS App still isn't showing that I had my booster on 30th October. I was told that 'they' hadn't got round to including a facility to show the booster jab and therefore it won't show up on the App. Mine doesn't even show the third appointment, never mind details of the vaccine and I was a bit bothered because the pharmacy where I got mine had run out of official cards and all I was given was a scrap of paper with the details written on it - hardly 'official'. I don't know if it's any different in Scotland. All seems a bit amateurish.
Be interesting to know if anyone else has details of the booster on their App because the woman I spoke to seemed a bit vague about it all.

Well done Goldie, we aren’t bothering much about Christmas food as it will just be the 2 of us. I have however purchased, wrapped, and posted off our Christmas gifts for our family in Hong Kong and Macau (at vast expense!!). Pleased with that for now.

Millie, that tour sounds grand. Mrs WN and I are both interested in architecture, especially of religious places so will make a detour when next down that way. How much notice do they need? I would give them 2 to 3 weeks if possible WN just to make sure that the right tour guide is available for you.
Millie. Years ago as a student in a group, I took an architectural tour of Ely and Peterborough and one smaller local church. I remember being doubled over in the crypt at Peterborough trying to listen to the details whilst having no head room to look around properly! At Ely I remember being braced against the outside of the tower in a howling gale longing to get back down to floor level, I don't have a head for heights. However as you can see both visits left an impression! They very rarely allow the public down in the crypt now brue because of the reasons you mention. It is certainly not on the architecture tour! Didn't you go up the tower in Peterborough? I had a similar experience up there many years ago to the one you had at Ely. I have never been up there again. They do guided tours up there though if anyone is interested.

You are all ahead of the Christmas game. This household is lagging behind!
We feel a bit better after our jabs, we're supoosed to be meeting up with daugher and partner and his Mum who is on a visit from Cumbria, for a meal in a pub. I'm not up for a big meal yet. Will have to have a starter and stop there. Managed some porridge this morning so that's an improvement.
First of all daughter's partner will be playing the last post in their local town today.

Sorry Millie. we posted at the same time! Our visits were for specific things so Peterborough was all about the crypt and Ely more about the tower and roof, although we had a good look round as well. We spent a similar time another day at Southwell, looking at the wood carvings etc.
Unbelievably I got dressed up for Peterborough and Ely, (instead of jeans etc) I was totally in the wrong clothes to be tottering round the crypt!
I would love to go back to Peterborough, I've seen Ely again since then.

Southwell is lovely as well brue. Some good friends of ours are lucky enough to live right opposite it.

That's interesting heddlo and I suspected I was being fobbed off. Something about the phone call just gave me the impression that the individual was 'working from home' and just couldn't be bothered with anything and therefore told me this yarn just to end the call. At the time, I thought it sounded ridiculous.

My NHS app just gives me a bar code which tells me nothing. When we had our covid boosters we were told that they hadn't been sent the cards so I have no idea whether our 3rd jab appears on the app or not.

On my NHS App when I generate a QR code pass, below it are three options.
Download a pdf copy
Receive an offline copy by email
View covid 19 records.
When I touch view covid records it shows the first two jabs and some negative lateral flow test I have registered. Hopefully they will sort out it showing the third jab eventually.
I’ve no idea if you presented the barcode anywhere wether it would tell them you only had two jabs, or just register as a valid code.

Millie
I keep checking my NHS App and no sign of the Booster jab appearing as of yet. We had ours done at a Vaccination Centre so perhaps it will take longer to get on the App. I wonder if people who have had their vaccinations at their surgery get the App updated more quickly. I find it strange that I can see all my childhood vaccinations nearly three quarters of a century ago but can't see my Booster jab!!! We both have a new vaccine card for the Booster with room for at least one more on.

We walked down to the war memorial in the village for the 11 am ceremony. It was reasonably well attended, but socially distanced. Not as nice as Sunday as they don’t stop the traffic, but we could hear the bugle. However, I think many like us decided to go today rather than Sunday, as although in the open air that is normally very crowded.

Yes it is different up here, can't find anything about the booster going on the to the covid certificate. OH has been trying to get the APP on his phone but is getting nowhere with it. He has now sent a message to whom ever to say its not working. There are times when you start to feel a bit like a mushroom ( kept in the dark and fed on sh***)
AS we are not planning to go to France until next year I won't worry to much, we are however going to Lanzarote in a couple of weeks so I hope they don't follow France.

Our Christmas this year is sorted. Cards out as usual, one or two presents for Mum, a nice meal at our place for the four of us on the day. We have decided not to do presents this year, there’s nothing any of us want or need, and it gets more difficult each year. We are going away for OH’s December birthday, will order a new soft top hood for our MG, and are sponsoring a gorgeous elderly Labrador who the Dogs Trust are caring for long term. We shall do another special afternoon tea at home for New Year, then hopefully the four of us will get a short break if Mum is up to it. We are going to have a bit of fun making wreaths at home, fingers crossed this is something Mum will enjoy, and we can give them to neighbours and family. 😁

Sounds like everyone’s Christmas plans are coming along nicely. We don’t have much to get as we will likely be going to my sisters for Christmas dinner as usual although I believe SWMBO has got the presents for the kids and gkids so that should be all ok.
Been busy the last couple of days finally managed to get the caravan insurance sorted after a lot of shopping around we got a good deal from a company I found advertised in Practical Caravan. We have also decided to head off in the van for a few nights between Christmas and New year just local so hopefully the weather is ok

Not a bad day here weatherwise, warm for the time of year. DD was here organising me and the garage, so things are going fairly well.
Several large things were hung up on big hooks and we now need to get lockable ladder brackets and hang my very long 3 section ladder somewhere outside as it is too long to hang in the garage.
We put a load more stuff in the skip, just as well as it was collected this afternoon.......then we found even more stuff that should have been thrown out!
We now have 6 large sacks of firewood to go to DS, but there is more which needs to be cut using the chainsaw, which DD is nervous of using, so we will wait a while before taking it all to him. DD is agitating for me to examine what is in my (totally stuffed) woodstore, she is sure some of that could go too, we shall see.
She will not be back here for several days as she has stuff to do at home, but we are going for dinner with them on Sunday. Next week I have hospital, doctor and optician appointments so that will hold things up, plus DD has to organise a "keep in touch day" with her employer, which means we need to look after the children while she has various meetings.
Christmas arrangements have just been finalised......DS and family will come to DD's house, along with us, for lunch on the 25th, leaving his MIL and FIL and an aunt to use their kitchen to prepare their meal. His MIL stays in a cottage beside his house, but the kitchen is pretty small.
Not sure yet where that leaves the plan for a family get-together on the 23rd, OH reckons it will just be us plus DD and family, unless they invite the in-laws. Will need to decide soon as we may need to modify the food orders we already placed.
DIL is doing OK, no bad symptoms due to her Covid, spoke with her today on FaceTime. Rest of the family seem fine so far.
