P.S.,
Just had a warning that aged sister has taken on a roaming cat ~~ not actually a stray / homeless moggie but one with a chip that says its already had three [ 3
] addresses to it's credit so likely to have a fourth one sooner than later
. It's apparently a bitey / scratchy little monster but at least it's coloured white with black spots so quite visible to 91-year old eyes allowing her to detect which end bites !! Probably going to cost me the earth in "Dreamies" ( other varieties of cat treats are available, or so I am told
)

Good news and bad news here this morning. Good news is that my blood test for my 6 monthly check up came back good so all ok for now so happy with that it’s always a worry waiting for the result but that’s it for another 6 months hopefully. Bad news is just heard a friend has been taken to hospital and it’s not looking too good.
Discussions are slowly turning to where to go for our main summer holiday next year at the moment it’s between South Devon or Kent edging towards Devon although that could change lol

OH was just asking where we should go next year, something I prefer to leave her to decide.
We will probably head north at Easter for 3-4 weeks as usual, and south in early to mid June for 5 weeks. She mentioned IOW, must be around 20 years since we were last there. That would be the furthest point on the trip, so plenty of sites to find en route. Probably also have another 3-4 weeks away September/October. Time to start making plans!

My some-time Brit Rail employee neighbour trots round occasionally for a chat and teases yours truly about my plans, clear in the knowledge that he & his Lady are getting more miles in than I am. He chuckles merrily if he gets away for a weekend in the knowledge that I will feed and water those racing tweets he has kept to poop over other peeps washing.
Got the shock of the week when I told him, YES, I have the clubs latest magazine complete with a photograph of the No 1 site in Scotland .............. ALTNAHARA. After I waved Him & Her off for an afternoon walking Blackpool's Lights ( ! well it's better than Gresty Road innit
!), Brian spent a while reading that mag and kept flicking back to the one uber magnetic page .........................., KjellNN you come to Deep South & I will head Far North perhaps ??
Who knows

Francis,
MY 6-monthly Review will take place on 15th Nov by mobile phone, at 9.30 am, so at least i will get away with telling porky pies about my weight { due to eating those pies
} and despite other problems the Leading Heavy-weight Nursing Sister will only be able to threaten & chunter at me ~~ actual physical violence will be deferred till Easter time at least when I might be swapping Cheshire for North Central Highlands

We love the IOW we have been there with the caravan a couple of times the last time in 2018 it’s a great place with plenty to do we were there for 2 weeks and could have stayed longer. I recommend Southland club site it’s very nice and not far from the ferries also there is a nice little pub a 10 minute walk away

My: Medical results are in.....Blood pressure slightly up, but with my caring role understandable! Blood tests .....normal so here endeth the news.
There is still no respite available locally due to staff shortages due to Covid, Bre!!! etc.
So minimal planning for next year is possible.

Good news about your test, robsail, and you too Francis, and fingers crossed for your's Brian. Hope that there is an improvement in respite staff next year and you can get some planning done so you can get away next year, robsail.
Moved up to near Pershore today, an easy 2 hr run. There were quite a few M/Hs, predominantly Chaussons, on the road but not so many caravans, the opposite from what TG saw yesterday.

Thank You, Nellie, but I am sure that my Blood test results etc will be ok. If they are worse than they have been over the years I have no doubt that, despite the F2F problems surgeries have, I would have been dragged in like it or not & been subjected to a Nose to Nose discussion and a one sided one at that !!

Have visted IOW several times with and without the caravan, the annoying thing about Southland for us, is that we can almost see our bungalow, if it was a house we would be able to see it.
Strange place, had some terrific hail storms sweep across the island this past couple of days, but we have been in brilliant sunshine.
A good experience (expensive) is to book a trip on the Waverly, she spends some of the summer doing round the island trips, surprising what you can see from offshore , very interesting.
this is looking North West taken yesterday, had difficulty seeing the island on a couple of occasions

NTH where about are you as that is my old area as I was born in Evesham and too many changes there now.
Well the weather has changed here rain and more rain and now much cooler brr, may get a couple of days dry later in the week so will finish off the gardening I did not do last week.

We've had frost too, should have brought some plants into the greenhouse. Hope they survive. Nice day here too.
Glad the tests went well for all the tested!
Hope things improve for respite care Robsail, things haven't been good for so many and I hope you can make plans.
No plans for us next year except a usual booking for the lakes and a right hand turn for the family "Northumberlandwards." Want to see friends on Orkney too but will probably leave the M/H behind.

Ditto here, just put some power to caravan so that the battery keeps ticking over, although it gets quite a bit of sunshine during the day, as south facing, i like to keep a trickle charge to the battery
Beautiful morning but very foggy in the Solent, but i love to hear all the different fog horns sounding off and quite erry when you know there are ships out there but you cant see them.

Whenever I've gone round the IOW, I've been to occupied watching the sail trim or wrestling with a recalcitrant spinnaker.

Been a busy day so far.
MH, now fully unpacked its amazing how much stuff we had in it. 4 loads of washing done and I managed to cut and strim the grass. It was very wet and long but had to be done. One of the front bedding areas weeded and the gravel area the caravan sits on.
Completely shattered now, the sun has just burst through the clouds so looking nice out now. Not had any frost yet but I think its coming by the end of the week. One of the reasons I was keen to get the grass cut, the other being tomorrow I get both my jabs so just incase my arms are sore at least its done.
Did a big shop yesterday, didn't see any shortages in the shops we were in.
Been invited out for Christmas day to my nieces, so I don't have to worry about buying Christmas food. We will not be back from Lanzarote until the week of Christmas so anything I want I'll have to get early.
Plans for next year are well underway but as we may be travelling with friends (they have never taken their MH to Europe) we will need to get together soon to decide a few things. I don't like leaving things until the last minute.
Washer has finished so need to go and empty it and put another load in, exciting life 😂😂

Chill!!! take the Waverly, actually on our first trip the skipper decided to turn back rather than go completely round the island, the wind and currents were so strong we were only making about 3 knots so almost going backwards and it would have taken a long time at that speed to complete the tour, have to say turning broadside on in a heavy swell on a paddle steamer is not the most pleasant of experiences, and as many had just had lunch the fish& birds had a great time hoovering up
had a similar experience on the Cap Finistère crossing the Bay of Biscay, I do not suffer from sea sickness but i do wonder what would happen in an emergency on some of these vessels when half the crew are dying

Well flu jabs done, Oh collected his medication from the local pharmacie and asked about flu vaccination and they said have you got the invite to have it done so yes and we waited 5 minutes and the young lady who does the jabs took us to a little side room so all done and dusted thankfully she was very good with me not a needle person really, our corvid jabs booked for 1st December in Villefrance so another month to wait.
Glad you getting sorted after your holiday TG and planning next year, we are hoping to get to the site near Cordes sur Ciel next year for a break after we have been to Cornwall late April/May ferry booking now on number 6 after all the changes and must do another change re the caravan so will be number 7 and looking forward to a change of crossing Roscoff to Plymouth return must be over 25 years since we have done that route, hoping to go near Carcassonne for a holiday with our friends about the 3rd week onwards in September, we do not do July/August school holidays too many folk about for us.
Our set of friends will not have the jab but did have corvid one and due to have their booster soon, her son in UK is anti corvid vac and will not go anywhere as refused to wear a mask he is very much conspiracy theorist that she will not speak to him as he sends her a lot of rubbish and even puts the phone down on him just drives her nuts, glad we are all different.
Off out tomorrow for a meal at a friends house 6 of us in our usual bubble plus 1 dog, so looking forward to that my turn for doing the dessert.

Best trip out of three we have had on Waverley, when she is doing her round Britain trips was one year we were on the I.O.W, and we went from Sandown to Pompey when they had an arms exhibition in the Harbour and as we entered the Harbour we got an escort of a Harrier one side and a Sea king the other with some of the crew of HMS Ark Royal at attention as we passed

I would go for a grass pitch at Southland as first choice, over a hardstand
Check out the facilities blocks location to where the hardstands are
Also the grass pitches have some protection from the wind as Southland is on a Hilltop have a look at the site plan

It will take a few more days hard graft to get the garden looking good again, everything is going over but the leaves are still on the bushes and trees so lots of clearing up to be done down the line. Good to hear you still have the campsite in mind, hope you like it. We still have a voucher for BF its good until April 2023 but I would like to use it next year at some stage. We don't go away July and August over here unless its to a CL, sites are to expensive and far to many little ones for our likes.
Good to hear you've had your flu jabs.

So sorry to hear that life is difficult for you at the moment Robsail. I do hope things improve for you soon.
Glad to hear that some have had their blood tests. I hope the results are good. I had to have my ears syringed recently and the nurse noticed from my records that I was overdue my annual check up (last done February 2019!) So he said he would do my BP and bloods there and then which saved me the palaver of trying to make an appt by phone.
It was my first morning back at the Cathedral today. I was really nervous and worried that I wouldn't be able to cope but it all went really well. It was so lovely to be back.
Very cold here today but lovely sunshine. Luckily we didnt have a frost. OH spent the day clearing and cleaning the greenhouse.

RK, we're on a CL opposite Whire Ladies Aston. Went into Evesham today. Lots of new houses going up all round the town, but many of the shops along the high street are empty and boarded up!
A hundred plus Canada Geese and a number of swans on the swollen river.

If you are going out of the main school holiday period you would probably be able to get a hardstanding. We were there in mid July and had a choice of hardstandings. As JVC suggests the toilet block is nearer the grass pitches but don't you tend to use your own facilities?
Have a look at Waverley Park at East Cowes. All their caravan/motorhome pitches are serviced hardstandings with good view out over the Solent. And a Waitrose at the bottom of the hill.
Our problem with the IOW is finding a site convenient to public transport. In July we hired a car but that was quite an expense and not sure we would bother again. I think there is a static park near Lake that has a very touring pitches so might check that out for a further visit.

Can recommend Evesham Country Park for a bit of retail therapy Nellie!👍 It’s a regular stop off for us on our way to Cornwall. Nice little walk as well.

Sign of how things are going?
We have just had a phone call from the friend we saw last week, she is now on her own in a lane with four other, houses she was out the day after visited sweeping leaves when she slipped and fell and , her phone dropped just in reach, ,,she contacted one of her neighbours who came to her aid they did not want to move her, as they could see her arm was looking a bit strange ,
They called for an ambulance which took THREE Hours to arrive !! even after more calls and advising them she was 84yrs, she is now in James Paget hospital with a broken arm and shoulder
