What are you all up to

Yes we always think that as well, although anyone contemplating suicide possibly isn’t thinking straight anyway. OH went a bit quiet, he had seen a few in his time, not nice for anyone having to deal with the aftermath. The incident had brought the whole road system around us to a halt. Could be life changing for the HGV driver, as JV says, needs proper care, so sad.

TtDA & WN, I can sympathise with a lorry or train driver who faced that horrific situation in the course of driving, but feel even sadder for those poor souls on a railway station platform as waiting passengers when a train pulls slowly in and still has a recently deceased soul splattered across the front of the engine ! The engine driver probably would not have felt the bump, and , going about his duties, very probably won't have seen the incident either since most such incidents, I believe, occur with folk standing on the track not dropping from a bridge.
I knew of a couple of old mainline enginemen who would finish their career down graded to driving shunters due to such happenings.

up with the larks this morning, my intention was to go down to the beach house knock up some bacon butties and watch the down fall of the massive chimmney at what used to be Fawley power station on Southampton water at 0700 hrs, however, pitch black outside, blowing a hooley and hissing down, so i think i will just watch on the tv instead, was my turn to get up early with the pup anyway, oh! the joys

Flu jabs for both us yesterday. At the doctors, a very slick operation. In one door, ticked off the list, into nurse's room, jab jab, out another door, and both of us out in about 3 minutes.
Then we celebrated with an early dinner at a local farm shop. Breakfast Bun and Ham & Chutney bun, highly recommended.
More horrendous rain today, so the cows are staying inside. Not for every day yet, but they need a field with grass plus some shelter.

Had mine in September this year. Had an email from Lloyds Chemist inviting us to book. Our GP's have been excellent with arrangements for the Covid jabs, but I always feel they are behind on the Flu jabs, so I booked in with Lloyds. I have to say, it was a bit of a drawn out procedure - filling in a form, waiting before hand and after and the person who gave the injection took ages to do it, with minute and detailed explanation of the whe process. If I'd have gone to our local practice, I would have been in and out like a dose of salts!!
Can't have my Covid booster for another week. I'm a bit late as you have to wait 28 days after having Covid. After not having gone out to a pub or for a meal (including takeaways) we finally had a date for a Medieval Banquet which was bought for us for a Christmas present in 2019. We'd already had it cancelled 5 times! When we went, there was no social distancing at all and Covid precautions - we were quite concerned at the time. Well you can guess the rest.... a few days later it kicked in!! Fortunately, we only had a very mild version... just a little cough, and a couple of short shivery bouts on a couple of occasions. Didn't lose taste fortunately. All recovered now.... at least we had it at the same time so didn't need to isolate from each other. I shall be knocking on the door for the booster next week! 🤣🤣

So, bad and good news then David. Glad to hear you came through it well.
We did speak to one person in their 40's who had it and said that whilst his symptoms were obvious the flu he had a couple of years ago was worse. He was worried as he suffers with Asthma but was fine after a couple of days of resting up with Covid.

Awful rain this morning but we tend to have the 1 hour bonus in the morning so it felt like a lie in.
I see Sky are getting it in the neck as people with HD+ boxes haven't had their times reset and it's playing havoc with their shows. Plenty of people on Sky help moaning about not getting the cricket right. Must admit I was surprised when I switched ours on to check something and saw it was wrong. Fortunately I don't need it until tonight.

We got back just after 12 from a nice weekend at Ayr Craigie Gardens weather was mixed it rained overnight both nights but was nice during the day yesterday. Site is closing tomorrow so it wasn’t too busy and most people seemed to leave this morning. It was raining again when we got up this morning but we managed to pack up in between rain showers which was good. Easy 35 min tow home then I gave the van a good wash there was around 800 miles of road dirt on it so nice to have it sparkly clean sitting in it’s space on the drive. Not sure when we will be away again hopefully get a local weekend somewhere local nearer the end of November before the Christmas madness kicks in.
David - Glad you feel better and didn’t have it too bad.
I always like the day when the clocks go back it feels longer and we can get a lot of things done

Hope you have battenend down the hatches JVB if you are still on the IOW, horrendous storms sweeping over the island, but beautiful on the mainland,

Glad you hear you have survived Covid unscathed David. We have also been so, so careful for the last 19 months but I know there are a few gatherings coming up in the next few weeks that are concerning me. I think we may have to just be antisocial!

We are in North Norfolk , were at Great Yarmouth ,we are now at the Norfolk Broads Site there was a real storm this morning, which blew some panels off the facilities block ,so we battened down until it blew over then moved onto here, several roads had large areas of water that did mean a slow drive in numerous places with trees and their debris on the roads also ,

Not sure its just Sky! Our Humax box didn't record The Andrew Marr programme this morning and it looked as if several other programmes set to record later in the day had been wiped from our settings. I am sure we could manage perfectly well without changing the clocks!!!

Sorry to hear that you have both had covid DSB but pleased that it was fairly mild. There seem to be fewer and fewer people wearing masks at the moment and very little, if any, social distancing which I don't understand as the infection rate is so high.
I hope you keep safe JVB. There have been some really high winds around here and heavy rain.
We have taken our son and grand-daughter to the airport for their flight back to NI and visiting kitten has also returned home to our eldest son and DIL. It's been a busy week but great fun. I am feeling rather tired now!
We travelled north up the A1 near us on Friday and about 15 police vans overtook us - all of them Kent Police. I wonder whether they have been deployed to Glasgow as security for COP 22?
Stay safe out there everyone.

That's us back home again.
What a horrible drive up we had, heavy rain and sideways gusts. A few accidents on the roads with folk aquaplanning.
One poor sole hit the barrier on the near side, then got flipped onto its side and slid into the middle of the 3 lanes M1. How we all missed him I don't know, very lucky. Car looks to be right off but he walked away from it.
Weather got better around Berwick on Tweed.
Our eldest just messaged us they had a tornado down their street, bins, pots and all sorts thrown around. He said they are all now walking around swapping belongings 😂
Its been a good trip, now to do some work and get the garden sorted, do the mountain of washing, go shopping and settle back into normal life 😟

Glad you are safely home TG. It must have been a difficult journey in this dreadful weather.

Definitely not a day for travelling, glad you got home safe TG. Good to hear you are ok as well DSB. Enjoy your quiet house Millie😁
We managed a dry if blustery walk, but have had a lot of rain today. Had a family meal with Mum and Sis, a quiet Sunday for us. The long dark evenings have arrived now, time to get out the Winter crafts I think.......

David Hope you feel better now and hope you both get the booster soon.
We have friends who have gone back to the UK for the winter and said today folks really do not care about rules anymore and when in Wales last week to visit a relative they felt more at ease as with wearing masks etc just like we do here.
Had the last warm day for awhile 23C so nice to be able to sit out for coffee, even did a bit gardening whilst OH getting the new shutters ready for me to paint but will need to do them inside with the next few days forecast as now raining now and heavy rain overnight.
Glad you got home safely TG and get back to sorting things out before you go away again.
Hope to find out this week when we can get our flu jabs sorted as OH needs to go to the Pharmacie for his next moths supply of medication on Tuesday.
Off for lunch Wednesday with friends at another friends house so my turn to take dessert so will be fruit salad as it needs to be low sugar for OH and 1 friend is also low sugar diet another on a diet, so looking forward to that.
Take care folks.

It's surprising how many caravans we saw today, I can't think of the last time we saw so many on the roads, usually its MHs .
Thanks Millie and TDA, it wasn't the best, yet the roads were busy.
I agree you TDA about time for winter crafts but they will have to wait a week or so until the work is done 😟

Sky still out of sync. There's a forum on the go with over 21 pages all basically saying the same thing but you still get some numpty coming and saying"My Skybox isn't showing the right time. What's going on?"
Doh! Try reading the previous 21 pages!
As we don't watch much it won't affect us unless they haven't sorted the problem by Wednesday when Brian Cox is on.😂
ps think you quoted the wrong post of mine. Looks a bit weird.🤔

Tammy, I wonder if he's a glass half full person or half empty? Personally I'd be thanking my lucky stars with walking away from it.
Glad you two managed to get home safely.

Glad both TG and Francis made it home safely, and that JVB managed to change sites.
TG I wonder if the reason that there were a lot of caravans in the move was because it is the end of the half turn holidays with families heading home, and there are a lot of sites closing down tomorrow too. We too have noticed the decrease in M/Hs on the roads this last week.
We had another wet night but with the delay in rising I was able to get out without getting too wet, getting back to the van before a heavy windy squall passed though. Finally cleared up by 10:00 and the sun came out, so we had a dry walk and then did the washing and all pegged out before lunch. Flyte and I had a 3 ml walk in the afternoon, while OH guarded the washing, back in time to watch the women's rugby international.

Thanks Millie. You are right about the mask thing Millie. So many don't bother around the shops... although we still bother at church and for arriving and departing for various choir practices.... Still regulations to wear them in Scotland and Wales though..
Thanks to all for the sympathy and good wishes.

Lovely start to the morning on the Broads site , cloudless blue skies although a bit colder than lately wind has increased which has now in the words of the song "those autumn leaves fly by my window"
Not many on site ,although the opening has been extended this year to 3rd Jan,2022

Our son and family are doing the same next weekend, luckily they have found someone to look after their dog. We are handing back the other extra dog today!
Sounds nice in Norfolk JVB.
Millie, good to hear you enjoyed seeing the family but I expect it was a relief to hand the kitten back. 🐱
Would like to visit Stourhead in the next couple of days, the autumn colours look good locally but the wind may quickly reduce the leaves.
Roasting some pumpkin seeds this morning, just giving it a go to try them out. Saved some seeds to grow, nice small pumpkins, should be OK.
