What are you all up to

David they'll have much to sort! Like systems, IT, that members don't get confused, as before, booking pitch types etc etc. Plus bookings are up to a year ahead. IT can't cope now - however often they do essential maintenance 🤐🤐😱. It's very sad in this day and age of tech.....

I'm glad they're not running Ryanair or Easyjet! I'm aware I couldn't set it up either but it really needs to be spot on this time with updated info at the ready. It's also about time the sites book became a shortened yearly event, far too much in the present book, so easy to miss the details.

Not a bad day here, just finished the first coat of emulsion on the bathroom ceiling.
The tiler forgot he had said he would leave off the top row of tiles meantime, so I have had to tape up plastic sheeting to protect the tiles. Fortunately DD had plenty of it left from her painting.
On Friday I took a load of timber to DS for his woodburner, and a second load on Saturday, so that has made some space in the garage so we can get more organised. DD is being very strict over what I am allowed to keep!!
She is making a pile of, mainly metal, stuff that we will take to the scrapyard eventually, listing stuff that can be given away, and directing where I should stack things meantime.
Once we have cleared a fair bit, we will put up a double row of freestanding heavy duty shelving units up the middle to divide off a workshop area for me, with storage, and a storage area on the other side as it is a double garage with 2 single doors.
At the moment, because the caravan blocks the side path, we have all our wheelie bins sitting in front of one door, which is a right eyesore, so the plan is to have enough space in the storage side to keep the bins just behind the garage door. Will be good when it is all finished.

I am of the view that if an organisation proposes major changes that they sort out how they are going to do it before announcing it? There is a rumour which I am not in a position to confirm or otherwise that the Club have purchased and off the shelf solution which will allow them to charge deposits etc. Perhaps the issue is not so much on whether they can do it but as JBV hints at deciding on a time from which it can be put in place and not impact on current bookings?

David I couldn't agree more.
Make business decisions, unless club members entitled to vote on the subject, draw up proposals, systems, costings, time frames etc. Get a pretty good idea of how it will work and when you want to implement it. THEN make the announcement with an effective date. From the little I've read they are making HMG look good 😱. I assume it will be later next year or even into the following year if bookings can be made a year in advance. Look at the fun and games with lower VAT and price increases recently. Manual calculations by staff.......
I totally agree with brue I have no idea how to go about it BUT it must be robust, competent and effective.
If it is an off the shelf product they need it written well for their needs and a decent fast correction service if it goes pear-shaped. Didn't I once read this forum was something similar? So it needs competent IT knowledge from within as well otherwise.............

I do hope you are not knocking this forum , Bakers2,
because its just what you want is it not ??It's consistently demonstrated that it's what you recommend ~~ it's been Pear-shaped from the early days and the IT group has always ensured that it stays that way

{ If you want me, well, I will be hiding in the out-door loo

}1 -
Brian I'm not knocking it at all 🤐. I just accept it for what it us. Along with the lovely posters.
BUT if they want to continue in business and charge deposits etc it will need to be fit for purpose.
Don't spend too long in the outdoor loo,the sun's lovely but there's a define chill in the air!

So true Brian, the New Set Up will need everything shown by long time members of this forum...resilience, adaptability, knowledge of inside out back to front workings and the where with all to cling to the cliff edge helped by Lego men....

It’s was the first AGM I had ever seen to be honest, no idea of what to expect. I did glance through the various reports, and the Financial Statement before Zooming in. Reports were quite interesting, some information around background work at HQ and home working to cope with initial lockdown, interesting that the Club have given up lease on some space at HQ, and revamped remaining to better reflect more home working and safer working spaces. How IT coped to keep the booking system operational at busy times was mentioned. Record bookings once lockdown ended and record numbers of new Members as well seem to have kept the systems on a knife edge. Annual losses as expected, but not as much as it could have been, and recovery this year is going tremendously in all bar overseas visits (quite understandable).
They had an agenda to work through, but much of it was “Committee” rather than “Business”. Lots of voting, thank yous to outgoing officials. I thought the in attendance audience rather tame, could have done with some probing questions under “any other business”. That’s where I expected more of the electronically submitted questions to be dealt with, but nothing. Hopefully all the questions submitted will get a response in due course.

Been out car shopping as my daughter wants a new one. She had her heart set on a Suzuki Swift (its looks really good and had a good infotainment system - her top two items!) but we visited two local dealers and phoned a third and there are none and you can order one but they can't guarantee delivery till March!

Had a good day today.
Did some general tidying up of the garden. We have an awful lot of beech mast that comes down from the woods so I decided to try to clean some of it up and of course I then noticed the weeds growing between the flags etc. as you do.
Went for a good walk and reintroduced ourselves to a lot of the villagers some of whom thought we had left the village, so long has it been since they've seen us.😂
Then we actually sold one of our two bikes that we had on sale and had an offer, a bit low, for the other. Have to see how the second one pans out.

I had an hour in garden this afternoon as well. Cut back some roses, deadheaded some dahlias, cut back some Japanese Anemones. Good for the spirits. MH in for MOT and service tomorrow🤞

Corners, there are shortages of computer chips for the new car manufacturers at the moment. This is why fairly new second hand car prices are exceeding new car prices just now.
At least she'll get some experience of delays if she ever gets around to ordering a new caravan.

Good Morning Bakers

Another fine day so I took MiL to see if we could find her some slippers. Sheep Wool lined with leathers no less but it was a fruitless journey. Means more trips when she can fit us into her hectic schedule. OH asked her when her lunch date with the Ladies was. She's at the age where she forgets and couldn't remember, so we checked when we got home and it's tomorrow which clashes with her craft class. One had to give.
Had some partial luck in getting arrangements made for selling our second bike. We're due away mid November and it will mean running back and forth from home. Fortunately we're not too far away.
In addition I'll have to come home for a couple of hours anyway as I've now got another appointment with my Renal Specialist in that period. The local surgery are also insisting I see someone. Good news though as I bagged the first slot.

😁 MH passed her test. Twenty years old this year, so the old girl is doing well. Can get on planning our Winter tour now, fingers crossed all will be safe and open.

..“Sheep Wool lined with leathers no less but it was a fruitless journey.”..
I don’t know if your MiL is desperate to try on the slippers Wherenext but my OH always buys online from Drapers of Glastonbury, they do lovely sheepskin slippers.

Just back from River Breamish gosh it's changed! More pitches with tarmac road surface to them! Luxury!
Today blood tests as ordered by GP don't know what she's looking for! OH had her Covid booster and Flu jab.
Organised Covid Pcr test for last respite outing. The hospital has changed it's telephone system couldn't go to the nurses that have done it in the past, so had to go back to GP!
Son has had an extra day at his day centre today so 3 days out of five is better than the two !
Will have to empty the van, as OH and son don't do cold weather vanning due to their condition.

Glad you had a nice time at River Breamish robsail. Hope all tests go well.

Nice to have got away Robsail. Good to hear your son had an extra day at his centre.

We're on our last stop, opted for Conkers due to Uttoxeter closure and cancellation. A good family site, loads of children out playing in a safe grassy play area, we could hear them making friends. Seeing our own friends who moved nearby ...viewing their new bathroom stored in the dining room, long wait to get it installed, they need KJ!!

Then home to visiting dog whilst daughter and partner go up to Scotland to see their friends and bring partner's Mum back from Cumbria for a break. All go!
Cottage in Cornwall coming up soon, just a short break, that will be it for the year.
PS Hope you find the slippers WN.
And TDA, that's a good old van you have. That design lasts well doesn't it.

Thanks Heddlo but she won't internet shop for shoes of any kind. She has slightly differing size feet. I've offered to buy her a sheep so she can start from scratch and have them custom made but somehow that didn't go down too well. The current pair were bought in York at a Christmas Market 2 years ago but not much chance of that this year.
Still, I am but a taxi service.

Great to hear your trip went well Robsail. It's a few years now since we were last at Breamish but I remember enjoying it a lot. Probably one of the nicer club sites.
Have you not had your booster yet?
Well done that Motorhome, Ttda.
1 -
As Son and OH had their 2nd Jab at the end of April they are ok to have booster now. But I was on a different list as an unpaid carer under 65 at the time I had my 2nd on the 1st June so I guess i will get my booster December for christmas?
Breamish is nice and quiet, the one thing that I missed this time was the squadrons of geese that flew overhead, didn't seem as many!

Good to read that the M/H got through it's MOT, tda.
Glad that you had a good break away, Robsail, and the good news that your son has an extra day at his centre. Fingers crossed that the tests are ok.
Another loss to the CC with your swap to Conkers, brue. Enjoy your time there and meeting up with your friends.
Pleased to hear that you've managed to sell one of the bikes, WN. Hope the other one goes too to help pay for the new ones.
We've had a friend, and her dog, staying on our latest CL along side us for the last two nights, hence the lack of postings from me....too many things to talk about over a class or two of wine.
We did the obligatory trip to Stonehenge today and it was the busiest place that we've visited all trip, but still managed to keep well away from the hordes. It's now a 1.5 ml walk with the dog from the visitors centre to the stone themselves. Buses available but no dogs allowed on them. Quite a change from our last time we were there when we parked across the road from them. OH can remember when one could even wander and picnic between them, but that's no longer the case. Returned to our site past Fonthill Lakes for another walk. 1 -
Finished the 3rd coat of white paint on the bathroom ceiling at midnight yesterday........my arms are really feeling it today!
Tiling is going well, all the ones that are going up meantime are now in place and shower tray installed. Tomorrow they will be grouting, so that will have to be dry and cleaned up before the shower enclosure, shower valve, towel warmer, radiator, toilet etc, fan heater and extractor fan can be fitted. So I reckon it will be at least Wednesday before the builders are finished.
The countertop arrived at 09.15 and is now on the floor in the side hall......just enough space for it to be out of toe-stubbing range! We know how you friends must be feeling brue.
Today I did some more garage tidying, DD is coming tomorrow to inspect progress and decide on what I have to do next, and also went to the Guide Hall to fit a new extractor fan and sort a stuck TRV.
