I hope that M cleans up his mess after caring for Mrs M on her twenty-somethingth Birthday !!
Its never good to head into the kitchen for a drink only to discover all the pans and oven in need of scouring, and the sink full of plates, cutlery etcetera !
You Have Been Warned, M !!

Managed to get into Chester and get the bike sorted out so quite happy with the outcome.👍
I received our renewal terms for the Home Care cover from British Gas today. It's amazing that they can increase the premium by almost 15%. I decided to have a quick look on one of the comparison websites and lo and behold I could save myself over £100 and receive more cover, with, you've guessed it, British Gas. Same other terms as well. They do warn that next years premium will increase by about 10% but to be honest I would be quite happy with that this year. Ironically they ask you to ring if you want to discuss your renewal but when you do they state they are too busy answering emergencies calls. In other words they're probably understaffed.👎
I know that in January insurance companies will have to offer existing clients the same terms as new customers.

After countless days of fine weather this morning came as rather a shock. Thick mist and drizzle which by unchurched turned into quite persistent rain. Drove into Axminster to fill up with fuel, price here way above that at Penzance at 139:7, still needs must. Then headed up to the NT's car park at Lambert Castle Hill for a dampish walk around the hill fort. Down to Tesco for provisions before back to the van.
Good to hear that you got the bike fixed, WN, now to shift it!

Happy birthday to Mrs M for yesterday. To late for yesterday's lunch, but we've have a decent meal at the pup in Mithian (dog friendly too). It's been a few years since we've been now (in fact, it's been a few years since we've been out to any pub!!!!) - but they were very accommodating when we went to celebrate Anna's 21st, a while back.

Thanks, David. Yes, we know The Miners Arms at Mithian, one of those great pubs that serves as a village hub, with a very well stocked shop. Also now on the Brit stop list.
We managed in the end to get a table at a new ( to us) place - the C-bay bistro, overlooking Crantock beach. And very pleasant it was too.

Only spoilt by the fact that, on the way back, the clutch on the car decide to give up the ghost and we had to be rescued by Green Flag.
Very efficient they were too, dropping us and the dogs back off on site before disappearing with the car to the nearest Peugeot garage, about 12 miles away at St Stephen. They are "having a look" at it today to decide what needs doing. Meanwhile we are car less, and, possibly stranded down here for longer than expected, which won't be any great hardship!0 -
I'm in MiLs bad books David.
Due to her age she has been receiving a heating allowance of £300 but has just received a letter downgrading this to £200 as I become eligible this year for a £100 allowance. She's insisting I owe her £100.

Just finished having a long discussion about loyalty on a call to British Gas about our renewal terms. He didn't know about the new law coming in soon levelling up offers to new and existing customers. Training? What training?
Anyway I'm mulling over his "revised" offer which still leaves me paying more than a new customer would. Mrs WN just wants me to pay the new amount iwhich I suppose I shall, reluctantly.
Took MiL down for her Booster jab today.
Best of luck with the car Moiulesy.

Indoor jobs here today. Dreadful weather - rain, high winds, thunder. Now the sun has come out but I don't trust it.
Sorry to hear about your car moulesy. I do hope you get it sorted out soon and without too much expense.

I see the "Server Error" has found it's way to this thread as I can't access any other page apart from the first or last. Quick try before I lose the editing facility and see that it's only the last page that I can't access now.
Can one of the Mods have a word with Rowena or was DKs "Tests" a clue that he already has?
Anyway, off to the dentist this morning to have the temporary repair to the broken tooth made permanent (hopefully). Mrs WN kindly commented that she didn't notice the drooling as it seems to have become common place these days.

Cheeky monkey.Hope all is well with everyone and that Moulesy will soon be back mobile, unless of course the parts for the car are stuck in a container somewhere.

Apparently take up of the Covid booster has been slow. I cant understand people. It certainly hasnt gone away
I cleared out our linen cupboard (I lead such an exciting life!) and ended up with a load of old towels that I didnt know what to do with so rang the vets where we used to take our cats to ask if they could use them. They were delighted and very grateful. Result! We also took a load of redundant Christmas decs to our Sue Ryder shop. They had been hanging around since last year as they were not taking any donations at that time. It has been quite a satisfying afternoon.

"Apparently take up of the Covid booster has been slow. I cant understand people. It certainly hasnt gone away."
Millie - as I've posted on the Covid thread, I don't accept the official line that the booster roll out is slow because folk are reluctant. We had the text inviting us several weeks ago and tried for an appointment almost as soon as getting the text. Nothing doing until the turn of the year at least!
Just about everyone I talk to at home is desperate to get a booster but just can't get an appointment. The surgery says it's due to a shortage of vaccines, which doesn't seem to agree with the official line that 20 million doses are available. At the same time, they are now making it more difficult to get packs of lateral flow tests. With all the figures going the wrong way now, I'm getting a little fed up with the casually trotted out line that things are far better than they were back in January.

There is/was a shortage of vaccine here, M. Our surgery planned to start giving the booster at the beginning of this month but the supplies didn't arrive. The program is now underway but, as of this Monday, the first available appointment was 5 Nov. Suddenly, as it hits the media, we get invites from both the surgery and the NHS. You have to wonder…..🤷🏻♂️
Edit: good news on the car!

Yes moulesy when I went to our local Boots yesterday to get a pack of lateral flow tests I was told that I now need a number and should ring 119 which I did when I got home. That's half an hour of my life that I wont get back 😡. Luckily our GP surgery are giving the boosters so we were able to have ours 2 weeks ago.
Good news about your car.

Good news on your car Moulesy and OH a much easier part to fit as on the outside of the clutch.
Our Booster has been booked for 1st December a few weeks ago as it will be just over 6 months since the 2nd jab, also we have both had our letters through to take up the Flu jab vaccine available from 26th so will go into the local Phamacie next week and see what happensthen as they may do the jab there as they have been doing the Corvid one.
Been a lovely warm day here today 26C so a bit more gardening done so upto to date for the moment and weather now clouding over with some rain forecast overnight.
Off shopping in Villefrance tomorrow and we will treat ourselves to a light lunch in the restaurant next to LeClerc which is very good as a lot of workers go there.
Fuel has gone up 1.53 euros a litre diesel dearest we have paid and it would have to be OH's Landcruiser that needed filling up.

Diesel here is around 1.70 in euros RedKite, much higher on the motorways.
Millie, OH went into Boots for test kits and a helpful assistant sent him outside with instructions and he went back in with a code at the ready! A palaver.....
My sister had her Covid booster two weeks ago so I'm hoping we hear soon as their was a similar time gap for us previously. She wasn't very well after it so I'm not looking forward to the event as we both seem to react. She is in on one of the trial schemes and her antibodies have held up well.

Took the Ducky for a 'charging Drive' after getting a letter from NHS saying that my Retinopathy checks show slight traces of retina damage pretty much as usual and no action required at least till next years test! { whooopeee !!

}Decided to do a s/market shop on the way home so treated myself to a Sainsbury Hour

Absolutely staggered to see two thirds of customers & staff at most masked up, the check-out lady said its ok now 'cos it's over isn't it
---- the only saving grace was that they had a couple of bags of pearl barley which the cookers in the family were having difficulty finding. Somehow I don't think Brian will be back in Sainsbury ( Nantwich ) for a while !I have an urgent morning visit tomorrow for a 10:30 am Flu jab at Farmer C -- back on here then to see if that has cured the 'Service Errors ' { Just page 4656 unaccessible now
}Hope Mrs M got more than a Slave for her Birthday M !!

Have you tried to get your booster done while you are down in Cornwall, M? We had no problems at all by calling 119, just as JVB has done, and got an appointment that suited us in Penzance.
Glad to read that the garage has managed to fix your motor.

Because of "service errors" yesterday I too was unable to post, or read others updates.

Visited Forde Abbey after calling in to Chard to get some things that we didn't manage to get earlier in the week. Although we did have some rain it as wasn't enough to spoil our day out.
Today was much nicer, with plenty of sunshine with only an odd shower in the afternoon while we were out. First went to Lyme Regis for an hour's walk along the esplanade and onto the Cobb, then onto the NT's Lambert Hill car park for a walk to Golden Cap, the highest point on the Jurassic Coast, and around the woodland walk. Heavy rain this evening but still quite warm.

Not guilty Brue😁 OH was out on his bike Monday, but he was out around Levisham and Cropton Forest area. We spent today in Saltburn, mainly keeping dry and warm in The Ship Inn, watching surfers🥶 I don’t tend to go up Sutton Bank if in Jeep. There’s a fabulous scenic run via Felixkirk, Boltby and then Old Byland that we do, coming down into Helmsley from the Stokesley road. Either that or up Wass Bank via Byland Abbey. (Not suitable for large motorhomes these two routes, tight with severe gradients)
We were out up on the very high Moors yesterday. Spent most of afternoon in The Lion Inn. Highly recommended for great food. Very pooch friendly as well, in bar area. Cosy fires. Mum loved it. Just keep an eye on the weather in Winter........one snow storm caused an 8 day lock in🥶
