What are you all up to

Seeing a reference to The Brambles CL immediately following Rufs photo of the Solent made me wonder about the viability of pitches that were only above water on the equinoctal low water spring tides.

I am glad you had such a successful day ABM. It sounds like good news all round.
I love the puppy rufs. It looks like he has reserved his seat in the caravan already
I am told we are having eldest son and DIL's kitten again this week. She is much bigger now and wants to go outside but of course we cant let her out here in case we lose her. It could be a fun week! Youngest son is coming over from NI with our 13 year old grand-daughter. I think we will put her on 'kitten duty".

Its a good point, over the last couple of years we have taken to sandbagging the front of the beach house at Tichfield Haven, quite often now the sea washes up and over the patio, only on extremely high tides during the winter months did we get this going back some years

One son has two dogs and they are relatively easy to look after as they can run around the garden without getting out. The other son has two Ragdoll cats, supposedly house cats! No way we could have them to stay with us as you would need eyes in the back of your head! If they go away for a weekend they have an automatic feeder and we go over there just to check on them.

Thanks for the CL recommendations, will take a look. I shall check on castles, OH says they are open, but that’s just the big four I think. We visited Harlech a couple of years ago, so probably leave that one, been to all the others lots of times (superb days out) and we are CADW members, so we get well looked after. Quite fancy Criccieth as well, and maybe other locations. We shall mix up our stays, quite fancy hitting the Britstops and possibly some pull ins if they feel safe and quiet. We would be checking out the tides, I can assure you😂 Brambles looks nice, not totally coastal, has Newborough Warren around it, so our kind of place. Everything depends on the C19 rates to be honest, and if it doesn’t snow. Don’t mind the odd inch of snow, but Snowdonia tends to get a bit more than the odd inch😁
Glad all your checks and jabs went ok ABM👍Hope others are doing ok from any checks, jabs as well.
We had a classic Range Rover RedKite, awesome vehicles. As were Defenders. First time our Jeep has been used for recovery duties, so well pleased it performed well. We have towed caravans out for others with our other Jeeps. OH loves off roading, we used to go to a big Jeep festival each year, and play in proper mud and gullies, and it’s brilliant seeing dozens of them really getting stuck and then seeing how the rescues are sorted out. All at a proper 4x4 centre I hasten to add, no damage to the open countryside.

David. We have said that we are not going to have her here any more after this week. It is too much of a responsibility.

Much as I love cats, we always worried about ours. They come and go as they please, and we have spent hours at times looking for ours if they failed to show in a day. One was a real home lad, seldom went further than garden, but the other was a real hunter, would be off for hours at a time. Thankfully nothing too bad happened to either, but we have decided not to get another, much as we miss them.

We have a lovely good natured rescue cat but he is law to himself and rarely let's anyone approach him except us so he has to go into a cattery when we're away. We know he's happy there and he's used to the set up. It's getting quite expensive at £10 per night but it's better than somebody trying to visit him at home as he'd probably never appear!

Ttda, if you do get down to Criccieth then check out the grave and monument in Llanystumdwy to Lloyd George, a local lad, a few miles away. I would have recommended the C.L. Penrallt Bach except it closes 31st.October.
A bright morning so a bit of a brisk walk as the breeze was still cool. Weather has set in to typical dourness now.
Had news of a death of a cousin. Not one I saw a lot of. In fact I only saw him at 2 funerals, one his mothers and the other of our mutual Aunt. Nevertheless I know his sister better. Strange how that happens. I still have 24 cousins so not exactly running out of them.

Ooo! Hot off the press. Deposits and be able to book a pitch type latter end of next year. No other details though.

They've got plenty of time to sort, both the IT and forward bookings. 🤞🤞🤞😉😉 Latter part of next year for implementation. So no pressure yet! Might even loose all the IT glitches on the way 🤣🤣🤣
Edit like the infernal/eternal internal server error, that's appearing more and more often 😤🥲 despite there being lots of closure for maintenance

😂 It must be the thousands of new Members that have joined. Record breaking in fact. Let’s hope the Club booking system can cope.

Arrived at Le Fleche this afternoon, as always nice welcome from reception staff 🙂
Site very quiet, had a walk into town, quiet there to. Flower displays still looking good despite the time of year.
Going out tomorrow on the bikes to see if we can find any sweet chestnuts. Last time we were here we picked lots but it was a few weeks earlier so they might have all gone now.
We were lucky on an aire at Cahors, there was walnut trees. Managed to get a good bag full of them, biggest walnuts I've seen and they are lovely.
Good to hear everyone's news.

We came home from a Shropshire tour with lots of Walnuts. Big tree in grounds of Much Wenlock Priory.😁

Have a great time tammygirl. Le Fleche was always one of our favourite stops en route. A lovely site within walking distance of a pretty little town

We've stayed at La Fleche, nice site. Walnut trees, have found lots over the years in various areas of France, and brought home kilos of them, I love them, OH doesn't, so all the more for me 😁 and they go well in date and walnut cake. Strangely, OH likes that, despite the walnuts 😕
Enjoy your bike ride tomorrow, TG.

No sun today but dry and a bit cooler. Sent to view the Fovant Hill Regimental Badges. Then onto Dinton Park (NT) for a couple of walks. The. "big house" in the park, Philipps, is no longer open to the public.

Yes we love Walnuts TG I had some with my starter the other in Villefrance lettuce walnuts and rocamadour cheese with a dressing could eat that every day yum.
Is the site you are staying at La Fleche called that or does it have a different name just interested for next year, enjoy the rest of your trip back to the tunnel.
As to the AGM today it always seems that HQ do not like negative questions and not always explain themselves fully.

That sounds like a nice food combination RedKite, a friend has a walnut tree in the corner of her very small Devon garden but the squirrels always get there first!
Had a nice time yesterday visiting "Skeldale House" about twenty years after I first wanted to visit James Heriot's old home. Worth the wait.

How lovely brue. I have never been but it has been on my list for a long time so I think we will have to make our way up there next year. I expect there is increased interest at the moment with the Chanel remake of the series (with I think is very good by the way)

Didn't realise they were going to drag it out so long!

B2 &Millie. The latest series have been added to the exhibition. I really enjoyed seeing some of the original TV sets from Pebble Mill etc. The hands on experience is good fun too. OH and I took it in turns to visit but it was quiet so we could have a good look at things, including scripts and original work.

Must have just missed you around Thirsk Brue😁Skeldale Museum is a lovely visit, we went round a few years ago. So much to see, I loved the kitchen, OH loved the vehicles, and we all had fun playing upstairs in the interactive room (no kids around on our visit so we fully indulged😂) The display of archaic veterinary implements made the eyes water though😱 Thirsk is a really lovely market town, the church is well worth a visit👍
That five second few words from DG Lomas, fast check in system, booked pitches and deposits was just about the only information gleaned on future developments other than Sites. Some interesting stuff on how HQ and Sites weathered the early stages of pandemic. No doubt all will be revealed eventually.

Hi Redkite, its Camping Municipal de la Route d Or. If you have an Acsi book its number 1285. It's 14€ a night, good sanfacs, big pitches and great location for a walk into the town.
We've stopped here a few times now funny enough always on the same pitch.
At this time of the year its not busy at all but I suspect in the summer it could be. It will be closing soon for the season.
Your Walnut dish sounds nice.

Lovely sunny day here, it was very cold last night and this morning but the sun is warming it up nicely for our bike ride. Should be around 16/17c so we are now out of shorts and T-shirts more like jeans and fleeced

Thanks TG have made a note as we do not have Asci book but might for next year.
The walnut dish is local to here and the Averyon and possibly the Dordogne as well, very easy to do.
My summer clothes have been packed away bar a few left for warmer days, just had look at last year's calendar and found that we had 2 days over 20C so will be interesting to see what this November is like as it has been an odd year for weather another sharp frost today but sun now out but much cooler than yesterday alright in the sun but chilly in the shade, much better than cloud and rain.

Stopped at Asda on way back to our pitch , very few wearing masks and what social distancing
glad to get outIn Front of me at checkout were two adults Completely engrossed in their phones, not a word of acknowledgement of the presence of the lady on the checkout, ?

They were most surprised when I said to the lady on the checkout ,"I will say Good morning and thankyou on behalf of the couple who have just ignored you , and a Good morning to you from me"
