WN - Yes you are right we left Chester this morning and are now at Blackpool. Glad the weather has been ok for you
TDA - Yes I have actually been on the Old Trafford tour a couple of times and found it great and the museum was good too an enjoyable day out although it has been a few years since I done it so may be different. Now.
We left Chester Fairoaks club site this morning after a great 6 night break and made the 1 hour 20 minute tow up to Blackpool today M6 wasn’t busy so we got here just before 1. After we got set up we headed in to Clevelys so while SWMBO went round the shops I went a walk along the shore front then had a beer in the Dickens inn. Back at the van now site is very busy think we are heading in to Lytham tomorrow. Weather has been nice today so hoping for more of the same tomorrow

Thanks for that, ,I have found several charities will accept buggies ,at their main warehouses ,only ,if we live close enough they will collect or we can take it to them, if to far for their pickup areas. ,,so it looks as if the next 5 site visits will entail a careful journy between each as the car will be "very loaded "

Millie,
https://www.norfolkcottages.co.uk/north-norfolk-coast-cottages/holt/1854-the-old-print-shop
This lovely looking rental is opposite our current rental in Holt that I mentioned the other day.
I thought it might suit you. Unfortunately it only sleeps 2 so no good for us. Perfect location for the town and very quiet. We even had a Partridge in the drive yesterday morning!
It's always difficult starting up anew after touring so if I can help in any way give me a shout.

Glad you seem to have found a solution JVB.
Last day here so we drove to Wells for a long beach stroll in the sun. Cold wind from the north mind.
After lunch from the beach cafe we had a stroll around some of the grounds in Holkham Hall.
We've had a smashing week. MiL determined to live long enough for a return or so she threatens.😂 One has to admire her spirit.

We were in North Norfolk this time last year with my Mum WN. Always enjoy it there, beautiful countryside and coast. Quite unique. Glad you had a good time. Fingers crossed our trip with Mum goes as well.🤞
We have been out for lunch today. Used a voucher a dear neice’s gave us at Christmas, lovely little shopping complex that includes a nice tea room, deli/farm shop, antiques stalls and a few other retail units. Great food, we sat outside in sunshine, then finished with a walk around a local nature reserve, so a nice afternoon. Weather looking changeable from tomorrow onwards, our day starts with early Flu jabs.

Thank you WN. I will make a note it looks great. Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.

Moved onto our next CL today, between Axminster and Seaton. Because of hold ups on the M5 around Exeter I followed the sign for Honiton A30 but they disappeared as we got into the city so did a circular tour of the student zone to get back on the right road.....a bit of fun with the van behind. Site is fine and I'll review it later after our stay.
Have a safe trip home, WN. Sounds as if you have had a good time in Norfolk. We
Glad to hear that you got to Blackpool safe and sound, Francis.
Nice day out with your mum, tda, glad you too bad good weather.

Enjoy Forde Abbey if you get there, we thought it was lovely👍

We had a good night out yesterday. Two courses (an amazing selection of puddings) for £10 each. Plus we spent £10.50 on several drinks.
Only a couple of miles away, more or less in the middle of nowhere, in our Village Institute. Our village is very small and scattered, with only the church, hall and a few houses at the centre - the rest mainly farms. The Hall Committee put on a wonderful night for 60 people. Choice of hot food, waitress service and a bar. All done by volunteers. Plenty of leftovers for "seconds" (much appreciated by my husband and his brother).
And a chance to dress up a bit and meet up in person.

Another sunny start to the day last night here then off to Seacroft for about 1300 arrival tomorrow
Got to work out how to get two buggies in the car and keep weight distributed
hope the fuel situation has Improved as we could be near empty when we get there,

They had done what they could, but still plenty to do as they had nowhere to stash outdoor stuff once packed.
Good run over, left here just after 8 and arrived at exactly 10am. Packing up, taking down awning, redistributing weight in the van, took a while, plus nothing happens quickly when Callum is helping, so it was exactly 12 noon when we left.
We had agreed to meet at Harthill services, about a 75 minute drive, for lunch in the van, but a 50 minute hold up on the Edinburgh bypass meant it was a very late lunch. Callum was very excited to see all the big lorries that were parked there, and to have a "picnic" in the caravan.
Good run home from there, only one slow bit on the M8 coming through Glasgow as there are 2 lanes closed out of 4 at one point, so we were home at 16.10. Still quite a long day for me by the time I got the van onto the driveway and all security in place.
By all accounts, they had a great time, visited a few local castles, several beaches, the local sea bird centre, all the nearby playparks, even had a trip in a boat round Bass Rock, and a couple of meals out, so well satisfied.
St Andrews is now being mentioned as the next destination, presumably for next year as SIL has no holidays till Christmas. Now they have "got the bug", I can see we may have to negotiate for the use of our caravan!

Glad they had a good time K, it’s a lovely area around there, so much to see and do.
No fuel issues around us, been fine for last couple of weeks. Apart from price😡
We have had an invite to a garden bbq tonight, next door. Padded jackets, but I have just taken round some logs for fire pit👍

Destruction in the bathroom continues, and is proving more difficult than we thought. To get the floor cupboards out by lifting the sink one up and off the pipes would need the (seemingly unmovable) countertop to be removed first. Even then, the way the plumber has fitted the pipes after I fitted the cupboard, 33 years back, probably makes it impossible, so I have had to resort to going under the floor to cut and remove the pipes.
This involved draining down some of the pipework, which is when I discovered that the 33 year old gate valves to shut off the water supplies, no longer close properly. So additional draining of all the hot and old tanks was necessary, and I will need to obtain and change out all 3 valves tomorrow.
Now the pipes are gone from the cupboard, I hope I can pull all the cupboards out from under the countertop. I suppose I will need to prop it up a bit first.
Just having a break first to recover from crawling under the floor!

Last few days in Spain
we leave here Monday morning heading up towards Benicarlo/Peniscola area for a night or two. Then up to the lakes north of Lleida, stopping overnight at a site at Ainsa. Then trying the tunel de Bielsa into France. We did the Somport last time we came up from Spain so OH thought he'd have a change. Then 1 week in France to get to the tunnel at Calais for our homeward drive. Stopping in to see the boys on our way up.
Its been a good trip, glad be came. We've not encountered any issues post Brexit or Covid related. Everywhere feels safe and folk just behaving normally. Masks are still the order of the day in both France and Spain, everyone complies. France you have to show your Covid pass to access certain things, Spain not, though we did get our temp checked on one site.
The site we are on know we like and have earmarked it for a return visit. Would be better if spending any length of time to bring the caravan but we are quite happy getting out on the bikes in the morning, then a couple of hours on the beach in the afternoon. Temp still in the mid twenties.
Been reading all the posts, good to hear folk are enjoying their time away WN, Francis, NTH. While others are planning trips and enjoying their gardens. I guess mine will be like a jungle when we get back, par for the course 😁
Only home 3 weeks then off to Lanzarote for 3 weeks, so will have to be quick at getting things back into shape before the winter kicks in fully.

A tad bemused and amused today. I am attending a funeral of an ex-works colleague on Wednesday next. Thought that I had best try my suit out. Generally I only do casual. I retired from work in 2008. In the couple of years prior to retirement I was pretty fed up over changes at work and the death of a good friend who had worked in my team as my assistant. I was spending more time in the office and I should have bee grateful as I was doing highway design work and documents for others as well as checking developers proposed highway works. Something that I enjoyed. Because I was fed up I was eating much of digestives/crackers with cheese throughout the day and had put on weight and had a 34 inch waist instead of my usual 32''. I lost that weight within 6 months of retirement. Before a wedding in 2011 I bought a new suit. I suspect that I might well have put on a little more weight due to lunches on our 4 months in the van each year and a love for scones but certainly not above a 34'' waist. Last year, in January the suit trousers were fine for my neighbours funeral. Checked my suit today to find that I had bought two pairs of trousers. One pair 36'' waist which look fine because of the cut despite being presently 30'' waist and a belt stops them falling. The second pair is 38'' and no idea why bought that size?

Would be good if he stopped talking for a few seconds!!
He seems unstoppable, we have to tell him to stop talking so he can eat!
He knows it is not polite to talk with his mouth full, or while eating, so we just have to keep reminding him!His Dad is not a good example when it comes to chewing with mouth closed.........how did his parents get it so wrong?,......so we are trying to educate Callum to be well mannered.
We are also correcting his grammar, and trying to discourage the very common in Glasgow, glottal stop.
He mixes with lots of other children at nursery, some whose parents may not care how their children talk, so it is quite a challenge to educate him to talk "properly".
Regional accents are one thing, bad grammar is something else.
A lot of grammar in west of Scotland is pretty bad.
Such as......" I done something", rather than "I did something",......why?

How old is he, three and half? Aren't you being a bit hard on him?
David

No, we need to teach him the correct grammar, bad habits do tend to persist!
He is good at using the correct grammar now, especially when corrected.
Much more difficult to change things when he is older.
He may only be 31/2, but has the vocabulary of 5 year old.
Uses lots of long/big words, and technical words, knows all about tools, and electrical stuff, his recall is amazing.......anything you tell him he remembers, and repeats.

I do not remember either of our children having this vocabulary at his age, but time dims memory.
Most people are surprised by his vocabulary, and comment on how good he is at expressing himself. The nursery staff also think he is advanced for his age, so are trying to stretch him so he does not get bored.
I do remember when our son started school, he had been a year at nursery, not so common back in 1974, so when he came back from his first day at "proper" school he was very disappointed. He said...."I have done all the playing, I thought now I would be learning something"

Another good day for a long drive. Just as well as that is what we did.
Stopped for a bite to eat at Belton Garden Centre, near Belton House, Grantham. A big spacious area served us well. Quite busy so the stop amounted to an hour. No hold ups en route, just the normal city traffic around Nottingham and Stoke.
Feel exhausted now though. Fancy a lie in tomorrow but bet I'll be awake at 6 a.m.!!!
Safe trip Tammy.

Guess you got home safe and sound, WN, as I see you've posted in another section. Edit...Just seen your update.

Hope it wasn't too chilly at the bbq, tda, and that there was plenty of food consumed, with the odd glass of plonk to wash it down.
Sounds like a rather tiring day, Kjell. Good to read that the family enjoyed there time away in your van. Guess that you will have to be sorting out timetables for when you and they can get away in it.
Yet more sunshine after a misty start. Drove round to Branscombe, walked down to Branscombe Mouth and along the shore to B'come Ebb. Some fascinating rock formations and spotted a Heron fishing off shore among a huge flock of gulls. Surprised to see hundreds of small silver fish, like Whitebait, washed up on shingle. Then drove along to Seaton for a walk along the prom to Axmouth Harbour. There were plentry of folks out, but it wasn't too crowded.

Hope that KjellNN manages to keep young Callum's vocabulary & verbs all on the right track !! We have had to suffer a female Londoner, a regular on telebox trying to excuse her own lack of 'g', 't' etcetera in her speech as being standard in that area, as opposed to being just sloppy diction !!

Glad you got home safely WN. It sounds like a successful holiday with good weather.
Tammy, good to hear from you. I hope your homeward journey goes well.
KjNn I hope you manage to keep young Callum on track with his conversational skills. It will be interesting to know what he is like as a teenager. (I speak as the grandmother of several teenagers!)
