    We didn't have any Wi-Fi signal yesterday, which was perhaps a good thing, as we had a rather unsavoury experience the previous night. We have been staying on a relatively new CL near Gainsborough. We had been woken in the morning at about 6:30 with dogs barking in a M/H one side of us and after having had a longish walk during the day were hoping for a good night's sleep. There were 2 couples (friends) sitting in the canopy/awning of one van, along with another couple, during the evening, talking, laughing and drinking, and they were still there when we went to bed at about 11:00. Around 11:30 there was a bit of an incident and still the loud talking etc went on. By 12:15 we were still awake and so I went out to politely ask if they could either go into one of the vans or disperse, only to be verbally accosted by one of the guys, who turned out to be the CL owner's rather intoxicated husband, and sworn at by one of the other caravanners!!😧 I don't think that I was being unreasonable with my request, but obviously it didn't sit well with them!! The CL owner did try to calm down the proceedings and eventually managed to. I left them to their angst but the chatter still went on for a bit longer before silence ensued. The following day the CL owner did apologise and we weren't charged for that night, but it is certainly one site we won't revisit.

    We had a easy drive up to College Farm and are surprised that there is only one other van on site, although the 3 Pods are occupied. Raining now so a wet walk in prospect shortly.

    So far as I know, Brue, the 'Southern Branch' of the ABM family are doing ok (the little 'uns just love getting wet n mucky  wink ).

    The other thing in your post of GREAT INTEREST  to ABM is the reference to Cromford 'cos it's the annual Cromford Steam Rally this very weekend. Its being held at  High Acres Farm Brackenfield outside Matlock  { Sorry but somebody I know will be ever so very interested won't I  }

    Oh dear Nellie such a shame to have that experience, totally uncomfortable situation.  We have recently booked a CL in Gainsborough so have been reading of your travels in the area.   Could I ask is it the one that has a ‘luxury bathroom’, she does afternoon teas, and makes her own artisan bread?  If so we will be on guard!

    Sorry to hear that Nellie, obviously alcohol had loosened inhibitions but a really unpleasant experience for you.

    Coo, not nice Nellie!☹️ Hopefully, it’s a lesson learned for the CL owners, they do have to consider every visitor. Enjoy College Farm, hopefully the usual warm welcome and peaceful stay.

    Our last morning here. This has been a simply wonderful find for us, a very nice CL in the perfect spot for us to get out and about to enjoy what we like to do best!

    OOO, Nellie you missed a chance there  !!  Set the alarm for an early start, then rattle the frying pans and cutlery at 6:15 All the time making Florence Foster Jenkins sound like Montserrat Caballe { Keep the milk locked away though surprised }

    Then, when the groans are building nicely  ==>  Go back to bed  winkinnocent  !!

    Beautiful but very rough down on the Solent the last couple of days, been quite difficult to cycle and swimming a def no no, not cold, temp 22 degs in the garden but only 18c down on the sea front, postponed BBQ until tomorrow when the weather should be much better, a lot of campers seem to have been having a rough time of it especially Dorset/Devon/Cornwall way, just cycled into Lee on the Solent, very quiet, but ice cream shops seem to be doing fairly well. Still waiting for Daisy to bring her pups into this world, hope daughter can sell them on or we could end up taking one undecided but we have cxld all our overseas trips until at least March next year, to much uncertainty, so pup would be well able to travel, am i talking myself into something i said i did not want undecidedSpanish daughter about 1 hr away, she left Scotland, Troon, at 0900 hrs this morning so we will be having a bit of a knee's up tonight, maybe keep NTH awake coollaughing

    Oh Nellie what a horrible experience for you. I trust you have/will do a review.

    Wet and grey this morning but now nice and sunny, we are off to a BBQ. Our across the way neighbours are celebrating their wedding anniversary and the completion of the house renovations. Most of which they have done themselves.

    I've been busy on the sewing machine again, finally finished the side panel for the MH canopy. Made a mistake first time aroundfrown so had to unpick and adjust the angle thankfully there was sufficient material. All finished now and looking good.

    Food shopping this morning, went in 2 supermarkets, Aldi and Tesco didn't seem to have any shortages of anything. Fruit and veg was well stocked as was all the chillers and freezers.

    Our neighbour next door is finally putting in some work to his fencing and his wife's new wooden work room summerhouse. It was all supposed to be finished weeks ago but he's not the sort to crack on with work unless he has a few folk helping him.

    If we ever get the new fence up between us this year I will be pleasantly surprised.

    CS, the A9 was like a carpark today. I've never seen so many vehicles queuing going north. Thankfully it wasn't to bad going into Perth, we took the local back roads to come home and avoid the traffic, as we crossed  over the A9 on the return trip it was still nose to tail.

    That was a nasty experience nellie. It would be appalling behaviour from anyone but especially so from the husband of the owner of the CL who I would hope is furious with him.

    Not done one yet, but intend to do one, of course, TG

    There may well have been extenuating circumstances for their attitude, but had they just considered the others on site and retired into the caravan around  11:00 the incident, commotion, curfuffle, whatever, would not have occurred, we would have got to sleep and all would have been well with the world.

    Great to back here, Tda. Good chats with Mr O this afternoon after his return from his M/H trip, and with his son on arrival. The pods look good, not obtrusive in any way.

    Pleasant 3 hr walk along the river path to Barton and back today, quite warm even with a gentle breeze blowing. The footpath was littered in places with cherries and cherry stone.

    If I'd done that, apart from not getting much sleep, it would dragged me down to their level, and I think/hope I'm better than that.

    JVB, just make sure you are after the morning rush hour, as the York ring road can become a 7 ml roadblock at times. Hope you have a safe journey to L W, and a good time there.

    LW is a grand Site JV, one of our favourite Club Sites.  Always like Leyburn, there’s a very nice Deli -supermarket you might want to try, up at the top end of the town, I have forgot it’s name at the moment.

    We are home again. Have had a really lovely week on a brand new to us CL, one that we will definitely use again. Nice steady drive home via A46/M69, then off to visit Kirby Muxloe Castle, lunch, and then an easy traffic light route again via A46 and A614. Much nicer than motorways, lots to see up and down while travelling.

    Edit, here you go JV, very nice shop, sells a good range of more upmarket food ranges, along with some good fresh produce, and more ordinary fare https://www.campbellsofleyburn.co.uk/

    Indeed, Nellie, Brian is quite sure that you are much better than that -- that's why you never thought of doing it !!

    BUT  Brian is well known for his love of his sleep -- even telephone operators and /or engineers in my long past working days were wary of waking me on other than serious problems, 'cos even in my sleep I could be snarly and grumpy squared,  innocent.

    P.S.  /  Edit     Read your review and it was a good well controlled statement of the facts as you found them

      worthy of "Alpha + " I would reckon

    Have read your review; appalling behaviour from CL owner's husband.  I personally don't see why your review should be removed; what's wrong with telling the truth?  I don't begrudge anyone a good time, but keeping people awake after midnight is totally unacceptable.  I've noted this one down to avoid.

    You seem to have a couple of extra (we,we)  at the end of your review. Do you want me to delete them or change it? BTW, I don't see anything wrong with the review which seems to be quite considered to me.

    Absolutely wonderful photos Corners, the sort that wins competitions👏👏

    I thought your review very measured and well written Nellie. Not overly fond of CLs with public footpaths straight through, so a very salient point.
