JV, contact the local Red Cross. They often have something for hire/use. I used to get one for Dad when I took him to Cornwall, £25 deposit. I always gave them the deposit, as it was such a good service. Might just keep you mobile while away in a particular area.

Rained overnight but not heavy, no thunderstorm either. A few showers today but also good periods of sun.
OH has had an admin day, updating our contacts list that we keep, should anything happen when we are away. We leave a hard copy with my sister. A fair bit of filing was waiting to be done as well.
I've had a day of watching the olympics interspersed with making a side panel for the MH canopy☺ most of it done now just got to make some ties to fasten it to the support leg and sew elastic loops for pegging down.
Gardens looking better for the rain, bet it all puts another growing spurt on

Another good day here. No problems parking up (in woodland carpark) at Chedworth, so an interesting visit. Mosaics are lovely, and the setting is gorgeous. Stayed dry while we were out, but we have just had a huge thunderstorm. Field has drained well though, no pools or pockets of water. Lovely sunny evening now. Glorious full rainbow over in next field.....

I do hope you manage to get some transport for your OH and salvage some of the rest of your trip JVB.
Odd weather again. Obviously some rain overnight as everything wet outside when we got up but when I was doing some dead heading this aftetnoon the soil in the pots was still very dry. We had a thunderstorm and a downpour this evening but it didnt last long so I am not sure it did much good.
OH did his gardening duty at the Cathedral this morning while I did a few jobs around the house and started sorting things for our trip to NI. I had a lovely long phone chat with my cousin this afternoon and caught up with most of our family news. She lives in Bournemouth now so we havent seen each other for some time so we enjoy our phone calls.
Eldest grand-daughter and great grandson coming over tomorrow afternoon. We might need an early night as he is now a very lively (and lovely) 18 month old!

Tried to post yesterday but by the time I'd written it the site was under maintenance again!!😧
Hope you manage to get some sort of replacement, JVB, or at least be able to plan places to visit without too many problems. It's a shame that having travelled all the way up there you can't continue with your trip. A bit like having to dash home because lockdown has been reimposed.
Belated birthday greetings to you and your OH, Redkite.
Sounds like a couple of good days out in the Cotswolds, tda.
We visited Gainsborough Old Hall yesterday, a very interesting and impressive building, followed by a walk along the Riverside path and another in Owlet Plantation.
Today we walked from the site hoping to visit Stow Church, which was a Minster built in the 11th Century well before Lincoln Cathedral, but it is only open for private prayers on a Thursday afternoon. OH nearly stood on a large female Grass Snake, we think, but it slithered rapidly away before we could photo it. We were nearly back to the van when it started to rain, but didn't get very wet. There have been thunderstorms around with some large claps of thunder, enough to shake the van, but we have missed the heavy downpours so far.

I found somewhere that hires scooters out on a daily rate JV, Scarborough Mobility. Might be worth seeing if they can help? Scarborough is challenging, I pushed Mum around in her chair when she needed a rest, down is almost as bad as up! Hope you get something sorted🤞

Thinking about somewhere nice and easy to park JV, you could visit Perry’s Nursery at Ruswarp? Big car park, short walk to cafe on riverside, nice gardens, good food, great for plants. You can see steam trains passing, as well as activity on river. Dog friendly as well.

Bright and breezy here, waiting for deliveries for daughter's new bathroom. They have managed through their covid isolation with just a loo and the kitchen sink. They rigged up a hosepipe into their back yard as a shower but had to wear swimsuits as the neighbours might have had a shock.... All I can say about Covid is be prepared!

OH is going to finish the work he was doing for them next week.
Glad you got to Chedworth OK TDA, sounds like the car parking is a lot better than it used to be.
Did anyone see a programme about Warkworth in Northumberland last night (BBC4) it was very interesting if you like history. It's a place I like very much.
Hope you are enjoying your stay Nellie, plenty to see!
Nice to see the gt grandson Millie, have fun!

We love Warkworth. One of the very best castles in the UK, and the history to go with it. There’s a very very nice small private Site a couple of miles away, in a loop of the River Coquet, Walkmill Farm.
Lovely if breezy at the moment here. OH off for a long bike ride, then Bourton House Gardens for us later, and an evening bike ride for me.

Visited Warkworth a few years back. Clearly I should have paid more attention to the village. Have to go back sometime. I do like Northumberland. Never seems too crowded.

Yes the village is lovely. We used to stay in a beautiful B&B opposite the Castle, and really enjoyed strolling around all the hidden parts of the village and along the river. The pubs serve nice food as well, and some other good eateries.

That is one of the companies that had a look at OHs buggy and advised they did daily hire, ,thanks for looking
We tried perry's plants today and came up against the full effects of the App today as most of their staff were having to isolate
so some areas closed and the cafe doing just snacks and drinks,,(we were going to have lunch there
) so as we were near ,used Whitby P&R which was fine, then the full Whitby Peak crowds were to much for Rosa, so we gave up and came back to the C/van, via Pickering for some more Thomas of York curd tarts got last four
, more of Lidl's shelves were even more empty than last visit
May be light at end of tunnel as buggy user on site has had one like OHs and has advised me what the problem could well be , so will have a talk to site staff tomorrow to see what tools they have in the members tool kit

We went to Whitby when we were staying in Staithes a couple of weeks ago JVB. It was far too crowded for us and son's dog did not like it at all so we didn't stay long. What a pity about Perry's nursery. We went there a few years ago on TDA"s recommendation and it was wonderful, although I spent rsther too much on plants😳 i hope you have some success with your OH's buggy.

We visited Warksworth earlier this month. A lovely stroll from Amble alongside the River Coquet. I can recommend the cafe, Bertrams, in the centre. The church is also worthy of a visit.
Had 2 more days fighting the Berberis but we're winning. It was 6'x6' but now about 3'x4'. I don't think the local bird population is too happy though.
Looks like we'll have tomorrow off judging by the weather. Take care anyone in the vicinity of this latest storm. Take your awning down if on exposed places in the South West or in South Wales. 70+mph gales due. Good luck.

These come into force as of 1st Aug on all our beachside car parks that have previously been free, will not affect me as i can walk or cycle, but a sad day for some old folk who find the walk too much so normally drive, do a little walk, then sit in car, read newspaper and have a cuppa, our local beachside cafe will I am afraid probably also see a drop of in trade as a result especially during the winter months. Take note CY no popping down for a shoot along the prom on your skateboard without putting £1 in the meter

Bit grim this morning, strong winds, rain blowing about in the wind, but blue skies over the IOW so could come good later, waiting anxiously for daughters puppies to arrive, she is supposed to be coming down for the weekend but Daisy very close now so not fit to travel, and i dont really fancy being stuck with 6 puppies . Spanish daughter returning from visit to Scotland today, not sure when she is going to return to Spain but we are going to have a family BBQ, another one, on Sunday, fridge in caravan working overtime keeping the drinks cold.

Rufs wrote "Take note CY no popping down for a shoot along the prom on your skateboard without putting £1 in the meter"
As if ! They haven't got around to putting the meters in at Portchester Castle yet. Much grumbling down at the sailing club as it is going to make it expensive for cruiser owners working on their boats in the winter. I see that GBC have blocked off the hovercraft slip now. A bit churlish as it isn't being used as such now.

I couldn't remember the TV series when I mentioned the Warkworth programme the other day. It's Pubs, Ponds and Power LINK (Cromford last night) I missed most of these the first time round.
ABM hope your family are ok down in Cornwall, the winds have been very strong, still blowing now but we're inland. We had very strong winds up in the NE in May, watched campers having to pack up and sleep in cars etc.
Shame about the parking fees Rufs, very few places escape them now.

Not Gosport BC, all that area West of LOS is Fareham BC, however, slipway is owned by Homes England they also own what was the coast guard station across the road that is gradually falling into severe disrepair, lots of complaints from residents re noise from jet ski's who used that slip way and once again lots of illegal overnight camping even though it is quite a slope. Homes England apparently had big plans for the coast guard station but were concerned at the level of illegal use of the slipway.
Interestingly you can still park on the prom FOC right thru to Stokes Bay which is a mixture of FBC & Gosport BC.For anybody interested, i cycled to the Kingfisher caravan park which is between LOS & Stokes Bay, they have made this into quite a nice site and there were at least a dozen empty pitches, nice tarmac hard standings with plenty of grass, could not check out the 2 facilities blocks as you need a key pass. They do have a rough area where long stays are, these are mainly road workers and the like, but if you ignore that bit it is not too bad they also have a club house have not been inside but they have a nice outside seating area, site is only 10 mins to beach and bus stop outside with regular service to Gosport Ferry/Southampton/Fareham and great for anyone wanting to cycle, would seem to fit most of the needs of MH & caravan users, was also very tidy with grass areas well maintained, no I do not have shares in the business.

What a shame JV, sorry you didn’t get the full Perry’s visit, maybe somewhere for next time. I don’t envy you Whitby at this time of year, it’s super busy nowadays, so understand what you mean about crowds. The P&R is a mixed blessing really, huge crowds now come in.
Hope you have more luck with the buggy. 🤞If you go into Pickering again, there’s a superb tea and cakes shop down by the station, called Elizabeth Botham’s. It has a very nice tea/coffee shop usually,(blasted Covid) but always sells really tasty cakes and other things. We actually think it’s nicer stuff than Betty’s, but not as pricey.
Its a tad wet here this morning. Great day yesterday though, both got a good bike ride in, and we went around Bourton House Gardens. Have to say, it is possibly one of the very best garden visits I have ever done, very imaginative planting, wonderful mix of plants for texture as well as colour. White garden was lovely. Came away with another plant for my own garden.

What a difference today horrible weather van been getting blown about in the high wind and the rain was horrendous although it is dying down a bit now feel sorry for those packing up today luckily we are not leaving here until tomorrow and as the weather was good we got the awning down yesterday which has turned out to be a good decision. Not done too much over the last few days we did climb up to Glastonbury tor earlier on the week which was great the views out across the countryside were wonderful. Also went down the caves at Wookey Hole which was good although a bit expensive.

We have watched quite a few iof The Pubs, Ponds and Power series and saw Cromford last night. I think we might hsve missed Warkworth so will cstch up with it on the IPlayer. Ben Robinson used to be the archaeologist for Peterborough Museum some years ago. Such a nice man.
Miserable weather today - grey and wet. I think there must have been high winds overnight as quite a few plants have been blown over in the garden.

Wet here today many seem to be on the move,
Not sure I understand the logic of the what seems (here any way)of motor caravans driven by one, followed by a car driven by other partner? Very noticeable today as inside c/van and can see the queue of motorcaravans on service point both vehicles there as OH is it seems directing the waste disposal dance to get lined up
and that is just this M/c service point as there are two on this site
It seems the problem on OHs buggy and others? of the same type the cog on the motor shaft is prone to come loose and move against the frame which causes the loud banging(not so loud if I have not got my hearing aids in
) man who knows has got the buggy in his awning in bits now m he says it just needs a Good clout with a heavy hammer,? but it will not now stop some noise but will not sound really bad as now , and should last until we get home, he says many of the boot scooters without suspension and solid tyre seem to suffer with the problem as they are only designed for flat even surfaces, not places like cobbled streets and unpaved footpaths

Saw the whole series a couple of years or so ago, all very enjoyable. He’s a good presenter. We have explored the Cromford area as well, again such a lot to do. It’s not far for us, and we use Splash Farm CL, which has a still working mill adjacent. Some great walks and cycle rides.

Good news hopefully for the rest of our tour ,as "very nice man" has in his words hopefully got OHs buggy to not make so much noise , which it seems is correct as I cannot hear it at all without hearing aids in
, we will stick to smooth surfaces ,, then if it keeps going look for something better when at home
, not that there will be much time before our next trip, East Anglia again, and our county council has had time to modify the house and access path to make it safer for OH0 -
Well I hope it keeps going JVB!
Going to have a take away from our pub tonight, they've re-opened after a long stretch of covid isolation, the owners tested positive at different times which extended the closure. Had my hip x ray, hobbled in on bad foot, managed to get a flip flop on, then stand for the x ray which took some doing...I'm sure I wasn't dead straight!

Quite nice to go out and see the countryside, local community hospital so no awkward town parking.
Weather calming down, hope August brings something better than Covid isolation and rabbit hole injury!
Are you ready for the off Millie? Hope you have a lovely time.
Did you see the Wookey cave cheese Francis?
Have a good weekend everyone.

Down at DD's today to take care of Nathan while they went for their second vaccinations. Took him out for a walk and he slept for 3 hours, so Mummy was able to get on with her packing. Daddy has not done any packing as yet, so if he does not get a move on he will have no clean clothes with him!!
We brought home what had been packed, some clothes, a huge pile of towels, and an amazing amount of food. I think they are in danger of overloading the van. 😮
They are only going for 6 nights!
