Great idea re puppy accidents TG, many thanks for the information.  Son has said at home the new pup has been very good accident-wise but in a new place I know they like ‘to make their mark!’  Their holiday was booked long before they knew about puppy hence the sitting with us although I am looking forward to it.

Good job there is the 6m rule or the whole site could have gone up in flames laughing

Brilliant day yesterday not at all what the weathermen predicted, had a great day down the beach with a BBQ in the evening.

This is Tichfield Haven beautiful little harbour but i sometimes wonder if the yachts ever venture out, whenever i cycle past it always seems to be the same yachts at anchor, not a brilliant harbour for getting in and out, when tide is out it is mostly mud/sand, but mooring fees must be quite costly. Grey day today with light rain off to daughters in Alverstoke to get pool sorted before they come home from hols. laughing

Can I ask what make your carpet shampooed is TG? I am looking for one at the moment. Have used a Vax, that seemed very good, so top of my list at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your mishaps JV. Hope you are enjoying Yorkshire. Pickering area is one of our favourites.

A bottle of neutralising spray is the easiest thing to have around Heddlo or Vanish spray, they're both good. Sounds likes busy time ahead! Hope you and the puppy have a good time together!

Nice to hear you enjoyed the music Millie. Our evening was a thunderous one with lightning.

Good job you got back before total disaster JVB, Hope you can fix the decor.

A damp humid morning here, another day of isolating, have reverted back to forgetting which day it is!

Stay with it Brue👍 It’s more difficult when weather is poor, I found isolating in lockdown rather nice if I could spend a day in garden. Hope all your loved ones are doing ok as well.

It’s such a long time since we had a puppy in the house. We had two last time, little demons they were, destruction was carried out in tandem, and of course our older Airedale decided “what a good idea” so he occasionally joined in as well😱 Most of our downstairs floors are oak now, so toilet training will need to be very disciplined when we get the next pup. To be fair, it usually only takes a week with patience. Our Lab was 8 months when we took him in. He came fully toilet trained, but was teething. Those sparkly white gnashers were tried out on all sorts of things around the house. He used to take all the fire logs out of the log basket and put them into his basket as well😂 He could trash a room in 30 seconds.

Daughter and family away for the week, a friend of hers was going to look after the dog, sadly she now has Covid. So phone call to Mum last minute! She’s a cocker, springer, beagle, not really any bother, happy gardening with me earlier but she won’t be left for a minute while her family are away. Sleeps on daughters bed,OH won’t have her in our bedroom and she won’t stop downstairs, so the dog and I are in the spare room! Also it would be nice to go to the bathroom alone!

How about some self adhesive metallic tiles, you get some nice aluminium and stainless steel ones.

Or a stainless steel splashback type panel.

Also, Ikea might have something, they used to do lightweight reversible splashback panels, some nice designs.

Felt out of sorts yesterday so lazed most of the day

However made up for it this morning with a long session in the garden. We have lots of plants that are coming to their end, getting very woody and not flowering, bushes getting too big for their boots so we sorted out one area this morning. Will replant some things that are in pots tomorrow in the space created today and carry on with general husbandry (and wifery😁).

The Office Manager has decided that we need to strip one side of the garden out, which currently has the Berberis and Cotoneaster in it along with a Mulberry tree. I'm not so sure. We might just cut a lot of it back and then eventually replace the fencing behind it. Matters not helped by 2 lazy neighbours either side and half an hour wasted this morning trimming one of their Hazel trees back to their border. He won't even notice when he comes back from his holiday.🤷‍♀️

Am confined to barracks this afternoon so caravan washing will have to wait.

I have just had a nice afternoon with our daughter having a little shopping trip and a cup of tea.  We had not managed to see each other for some weeks as they seemed to be constantly having to self isolate before we went away. First the children had to self isolate, one after the other, because a member of their school 'bubbles' had a positive covid test and then just after they both went back to school SIL got 'pinged' yell. They are off for a few days camping this week so it was good to see her. The temperature is certainly much cooler today and no sun. I quite like the cooler temps but I miss the sun (we are never satisfied).

I have been on 'tour duty' at the Cathedral Friday and Saturday morning this week.. One member of my tour group on Friday was deaf but could lip ready so I took my mask off and as long I was facing her we managed very well. We kept our distance from each other. That is my last tour duty for a while as we are off to N.Ireland next weekend and then I have my second eye op the week after we get back and have to self isolate beforehand.

WN I am in awe of what you and Mrs WN achieved on your holiday this week, especially in those temperatures.  Goodness knows what you would have also achieved had it been cooler surprised. I am glad you had a successful trip.

Nellie I am pleased to hear that Flyte is recovering and that your trip is going well.

Brue how much longer do you have to self isolate for? It's a pain isn't it? I hope you and the rest of your family are keeping well.

Thanks Brue, we will look out for some of that.  They can’t say we aren’t prepared!!  I’m hoping he will be ok in his crate in the kitchen at night, I’m not wanting to have a blanket and the bean bag which our son slept (?) on for the first two nights after puppy was collected. 😱🥴

Till Wednesday Millie! Do hope you get off to NI and then keep out of harms way till your next Op.

A stroll around our garden today, that's my limit although it makes me realise how unpleasant and challenging it must be for anyone in a flat or similar.

(We've tried out a new Clematis called Princess Kate, so far so good! )

Still far too hot here too, but starting to cloud over a bit now.

New washer on caravan gas hose seems to have stopped the leak, so will keep an eye on that.  Next I am going to check what the charger is doing, I am not convinced there is anything wrong with it.   Still have to figure out how to secure the new microwave in place as it is slightly smaller than the original, so quite a bit to do before Friday.

Just as well we have a new freezer coming tomorrow, the old one had a bad day on Friday and went into meltdown, too hot for it.    Fortunately we noticed before too long, and were able to give it extra ventilation, so it is working again, but we lost a bit of stuff.

Today we went through the freezers and disposed of a few "antique" items, so by tidying the contents, taking things out to cook, and taking the caravan freezer into use, we have fitted in all but  half a drawer of stuff.  That will go in a very cold fridge and we will see if it survives.

JL are delivering the new freezer between 19.00 and 21.00 tomorrow, and removing the old one, so that has to be all defrosted before they come, which will take a while.  Does the new one have to sit for a while before we can switch it on?

DD's building work is nearing completion externally, just one detail on the roof to finish, and she is also having a new roof on a separate bay window. Should be all finished by Tuesday.

Today they have the plasterer finishing inside, so that needs time to dry before it can be painted.  She has arranged for a painter to come later, once she is back from her holidays.  Then there will be some woodwork for me to do......a new windowsill and some skirtings to refix......before the big clean up and return of furniture.  Hopefully that can be done before we go away again in late August.

Yesterday they were cutting hedges, they have many metres of hedges, and I was cleaning the garage gutters.  Had to go and use their shower afterwards!

Later we were invited to stay for dinner, and shared a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate her promotion to Head of Software Development when  she returns to work next year.

Great photos brue.  You have a lovely garden - big as well. What plans do you have for 'release' day on Wednesday?

I have been looking for a cardigan. Would you believe it could be so difficult? yell Didn't like any of the very small selection in M&S this afternoon and none at all to be found in Next. Searched the internet when I got home - nothing left that I liked in my size. I gave in and searched John Lewis and found what I hope is one I like in their sale. It is to be delivered tomorrow to our local Waitrose. I really didn't want to shop online in JL since they closed our store, on principle. I might have to shop there for towels online as well in the near future. I do so miss our lovely JL store frown

According to Monty Don, Agapanthus like their roots to be restricted to flower successfully. He waits until the roots crack the pot, before potting on.

Hope your trip to N.I. goes to plan Millie and good luck with the eye op.

I think our years of walking in the South of France including the Alps and Pyrenees in hot weather helped us last week, although we're now a bit older and not quite as fit or healthy. It was enjoyable in a masochistic way.😱😂

Lovely photos Brue. We gave up (the Royal "we") on the Agapanthus. I don't think the ladies want it back.

    Millie

Whilst I understand your frustration at your local branch of JL being closed, not shopping with JL, especially if they have what you want, is not going to help those employees in other shops? The problem with shops like JL is that they are very expensive to run and the reason they close is because local people don't use them enough to make them profitable. We are fortunate in MK that our JL remains open. I think you have mentioned that you have family in MK so perhaps you might be tempted to visit JL when you visit?
