What are you all up to

Well I've just had a look at the review gone again! Was there at breakfast time!I do hope you get a sensible response from the club. Your point about a footpath through the site was of definite interest to many of us. No mention at all on the site details, unless you consider walking from the site, I'd take that be be leave the 'field' via a gate.
I saw nothing to warrant the review being removed. It would have been much better if the owner had commented on it making the circumstances of a footpath and late night noise for all gonread.
One to avoid, and how many more unknown reviews have been removed from other CL pages meaning its more difficult judge of the content of those remaining and left?

It’s disgraceful that the Club could remove a review such as Nellie’s, but leaves some of the other uninformative rants that a few choose to vent their spleen over😡
I had over 50 reviews at one time, lost at least 50% of them when the forum was “improved”, so have in fact only just started to post CL reviews again on here in last few months. This leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, as Nellie posts reviews that are factual and fair, even if not everything is perfect. That takes some doing, and that’s why it is so dissappointing.
3 -
Especially as the later posted one remains from the person, who had their comments removed along with the original review, when they acknowledged the noise issue and claimed it was a medical emergency!
The genie is out of the bottle and the club need to realise we are not wet behind the ears..........

Hope you have a good trip up at Moray......Sunnybrae again?
Yes, last twice we've been we had the MH. Taking the caravan this time so we will be able to get out to some of the places with the car. Weather not looking to be that great though. Of course they could be wrong they often are.

Felt a bit miserable yesterday because "rabbit hole" foot injury has extended my recent enforced stay at home for too long. So decided, hobbling or not, to ask OH to take me to Montacute House, just for a coffee and cake and to see people once more. We can't see people from our home unless they are glimpsed out walking on the footpath etc.
Got there early at 10 am and it was already busy. Courtyard food area is nice and level and so are most of the garden strolls. Managed to go inside the Orangery as everything has opened up now and could also look inside the garden rooms, one has a stone water trough inside. It must have been very much a big play and show off country house for visitors years ago! Much the same watching people enjoying it now.
Left there as large coach party arrived from Ilfracombe and a full car park.

Have a good trip TG.
I'm just as disgusted with the CAMC as some of you others at the removal of Nellie's review. I did intend to write to the club following the first deletion but held back to see what would happen with his second. I will now write. After all I rely on fellow members' reviews of CLs just like Nellie. People who give factual accounts and include a lot more information than your normal "Fabulous place, the weather was great" type of ones.
I like to include a s much information as I can within a review and I certainly would want to know about the public footpath running through this particular one. I have read quite a few reviews that are non too complimentary about the owners but these have been left untouched. I wonder if it is because the owner hasn't asked for them to be Deleted User.🤫
Anyway once my software update is completed after I start it in a minute I'll be writing to the CL dept. to ask for their reasons.

Had a last day for a while at least tidying up some unruly bushes in the garden plus actually doing some proper weeding. That's my tenth and last trip to the tip for a little while and we don't get the brown bins emptied for a further week yet.
Have to find something to occupy myself with during the forthcoming rainy season.
Just seen your post Brue. Lovely photos as usual. Hope the hobbling improves.

I think on reflection I suspect it was the identifying of individuals (in this case the CL owner and his wife) that was the cause of deletion. The same is true if people identify wardens by name in a critical way they will also be removed.
This is a quote from the Community Guidelines:-
We ask that at all times posts are constructive and are not offensive towards members of staff, owners of CLs or Affiliated Sites or other members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The Wardens work hard at all times and do their utmost to ensure member's visits are pleasant and enjoyable. The Caravan and Motorhome Club has a duty of care to staff and as such we ask that members be polite in their reviews and don't post abusive or offensive comments. If you have a complaint please contact us directly about this. We will remove a review with or without explanation if it contravenes these guidelines or singles out a member of staff.

"Hope you have a good trip up at Moray......Sunnybrae"
love that area, used to live near Cumminstown, drove coaches up and down the Moray coast Macduff/Aberdeen/Inverness/Perth etc for 2 years, was on my bucket list of things to do, they have some terrific boat festivals along that coast PortSoy, Buckie, Macduff, we used to live on fish when we lived up there straight off the boat can taste it now
Sunnyside beach Findlater was a great place for swimming etc, bit of a hike to get down to it but well worth it
enjoy your trip TG, envious

Well that's the car and caravan packed, just got fridge food to go in later once its cooled down enough.
Weather has been dry with sunny spells and its quite hot when its out.

Took the MH in to Perthshire caravans yesterday to get a job done, they will have it for a week or more, the job should only take a day but they are still leaving vehicles sat for 3 days before they touch them and 3 days before we are allowed to collect. The only problem is we think we have left the full size bike, keys in the vehicle along with the spares
thankfully we do have the locks and keys for them, so they are now in the garage all locked up but we cant take the batteries off like we usually do. Thankfully only a 5 day trip away.We have the folding bikes that we use with the caravan so no impact to our trip away.

OH did 2 trips with the trailer to the skip this morning, so that's all the garden waste and other bits and pieces cleared away now.
Once we get back from this trip we will only have 17 days until we are to set of for France, still don't know what is happening with that but maybe tomorrows announcement might bring some good news.
Still got insurance to sort out for it but until we know if we are going or not there is no point doing anything about it. WN/Rufs/NTH, thanks for the good wishes, it is a nice area and IF the weather plays fair then we shall have a great time as the cycling is good there along the old railway line. It gives good access to al sorts of places. Having the car this time will also help if the weather isn't so great. OH has already sorted out another heritage train trip

AD, glad to hear you got your OHs passport sorted, that will be a relief for you both. Can't be long until you are due to go. I did reply to your email but not sure if you got it as we've had some issues with it lately.
Oh well off to have a shower now and then sort the tea, feet up and relax for the rest of the night.

David, whilst I tend to agree with those guidelines, myself and several other members of CT read Nellie's review, including yourself, and no-one commented that he had been offensive. A lot of the responses stated that they thought he had been factual rather than aggressive or offensive. In fact the "offensive" attitude seemed to be directed at Nellie rather than the other way around. I also find it offensive that the club has not, as far as I am aware, bothered to inform him that the reviews had been Deleted User or given an explanation for the withdrawal. This in itself leaves a bad taste in the mouth
We are all adults on here and can make our own minds up on whether a review is of use to us. I have in the past advocated that in situations such as this that the owner is given a "right to reply box" below the review but just deleting it without any comment is unbecoming of a "members" club.

We all know we tend to get smaller as we get older but Mother-in-law is really having problems now.😱

Well took advantage of the forecast good weather for today
and the down turn from tomorrow
to go up there again. Today was Scarfell Pike! An exhilarating walk from Borrowdale but sadly I had to say probably a goodbye to the Pike. Not due to altitude or distance but the final part from Lingmell col (and any other routes) is just too stoney and bouldery for my age and legs. Another avenue of pleasure closed off but plenty left so can't complain.
A little misty on the top but otherwise great weather and a great day

I know how you feel CS. I'm beginning to count down the days as well.
I haven't actually been up anything too big since 2019 when we went up Red Pike and since then asthma has struck. I want to try something of that magnitude again just to see how it goes but there always seems something else planned. I think I'm going to have to make a concerted effort to get up there sooner rather than later.
At least you've had 3 or 4 really good weather days.

So glad you managed to get out today brue. I hope your injury improves soon. It must be very frustrating, especially after your enforced isolation.
I hope you have a good trip TG and that the weather plays ball.
Lovely photos CS. It is some years since we went up Scarfell pike or any of the other fells. We watched a programme about the LD recently and sadly remarked that we couldnt walk up there again. Many happy memories though.
Lovely weather in Strangford these last few days. Yesterday we dropped grand-daughter off at a rugby camp for the day in Carrickfergus and carried on driving up the scenic coastal route which was absolutely beautiful once past Larne. We went to Glenarm Castle walled garden which was really lovely. This evening we went down to the harbour and watched grand-daughter come in from her row with the junior rowing club. They were practising for their regatta on Saturday. Sadly the weather is forecast to change overnight.
Must stop as I have their 9 week old kitten jumping all over me!

Some lovely gardens about and thanks for all the photos, brue hope your ankle improves and memories of Montacute, sounds like most folks are having better weather than us here 21C today and 13.2mm of rain but will improve by the weekend and warmer next week, so strange to drive around and see so much greenery everywhere as it is usually very dry and brown at this time of year but we are enjoying having the greenery about.
OH has been busy with different chores in the van so all inside and hope to get away next month and then again in October upto the site at Obterre as we have not been there for nearly 2 years and to see how their improvements on site are.
Enjoy your break away TG and any other folk and stay safe.

I am afraid my photos dont do it justice WN. It was beautiful and so well looked after. We were actually hoping to do a tour of Carrickfergus Castle but they were all fully booked so the garden was a bit of a lucky find.

Thanks, WN. I have not received any more word from the club, apart from the automatic response. I guess that they want to brush it under the carpet by just ignoring the e-mail and hoping that it will just die a death. I have purposely not named the site on CT, being aware of the T&Cs, but would willingly argue my corner with the club over what occurred should the site owner be trying to paint a different picture to what actually occurred.

The review system isn't consistent, on main sites some deeply offensive reviews are often left in place along with alarming ones (eg the police called out to a fracas) so it's difficult to ascertain what's ok and what isn't! CL owners may be able to object because they can, who knows? They can certainly reply if they want to and it looks better if they do, rather like hotel owners will reply and correct a one sided review or apologise to the reviewer. Abusive reviews are another matter.
That said I've just sorted three CLs for our next short trips. I'm looking forward to them all, one of them is £7 a night plus £1 for the dog (I've told her she'd better behave, this is costing us money.....

Another very pleasant English summer day here again today but rain forecast teatime onwards.
Brue I hope you're not having any after effects from your day out foot wise? You are very lucky to have such lovely NT gardens and properties close to home. Essex has a lack of NT properties very similar to C&CC & CAMC sites, I think the NT is just ahead.....
Milliehull lovely photos and sounds like a great place to explore an additional bonus on top of seeing the family 👪
These reviews are odd things, there's one today that doesn't contain a good word as far as I can see, including the title..... Its a new person too.

It's pouring with rain here...a typical English Summer day?!

Thanks B2, yes I do get after effects from walking at the moment so I put my foot up each day when I feel it's had enough. There's still a lot of visible bruising so I can see it's not better yet. I've got at least another week to go before we set off to our first inland CL. I think the planned walks will be curtailed but it's a good excuse to read a book, do some sewing etc and amble to the village pub. We picked a place with a shop and a pub with no ambitions to do anything much.

Brue that certainly sounds nasty. I think you're doing the right things. Son, physio by training, always quotes RICE, rest, ice, compress and exercise.
Your trip sounds lovely - just what the physio ordered 😉
You can keep your current English summer weather thank you, perhaps try anchoring the low pressure your way? Cos apparently its coming this way 😱
Difficult days here 🥲 but tomorrow I was planning, after what's considered by some 😉 a very early start, 0850 for a fasting blood test, to take us on somewhere for the day, just for a change of scenery. Maybe let the anchor go so low passes quickly after all 🤣🤣

It's pouring with rain here ☹. We thought we might get the ferry across to Portaferry and visit Exploris but they are fully booked so we have a booked a meal out instead. We are all going to Mount Stewart (NT) tomorrow which is a place I have wanted to go to for many years.
Good advice from your son bakers2. I shall remenber that if I ever need to. I hope you have a good day out tomorrow.

Mount Stewart is lovely Millie, looks out for the huge Stubbs horse painting, (you can't miss it) it was frowned on at the time because the artist dared to painted a servant on it!! I loved the gardens there, the Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary fountain was something I remember. We had our list of "must sees" from a former resident in the area. Hope you enjoy your visit, it's quite a place!
Enjoy your day too B2, a treat after the earlier efforts.

Unexpectedly nice here, I am just with Mum, taking her around her garden. We have just found a Hazel tree outside down the Lane, so we might have a nibbles bonus going free.....if we can beat the 🐿😂
Its difficult on this forum regarding reviews. There’s little in the way of consistency in terms of what stays and what goes. I often read reviews on other websites which can provide more information than allowed on here.
